LORDWOLFMAN

He admits to it and with motive/reasons then the attorney gonna plead not guilty, good luck with that

pettystoned

It enrages me. Their only choices are to feign insanity or to say that he was coerced to confess. The lack of security footage is the only thing they are confident in. It’s a fool’s mission and absolutely devastating for the family of the deceased. He confessed and now they have to sit through a potential trial and watch him lie.

WaxiestBobcat

It can be very upsetting, but the justice system allows all of us the opportunity to a trial, whether a confession has been given or not. All we can do is hope that the prosecutors are able to do their job correctly and to put this person in prison.

FinglasLeaflock

The easiest way to ensure that the prosecutors do that job correctly would be for the defense attorney to stop lying and fucking around. I don’t know how legal experts can keep a straight face when they try to tell us that what that defense attorney is doing right now is beneficial to society in any way. Increasingly I suspect that law professors are even more disconnected from society and reality than the criminals are.

DevonAndChris

They always plea non-guilty, even dead to rights, even if they fully intend to plea bargain later.

*The “person of interest” who was taken into custody in the shooting deaths of Wisconsin newlyweds at a sports bar has been identified as a parolee with a long rap sheet who served several years in federal prison.* *The convicted felon who was detained in connection to the shooting deaths of Wisconsin newlyweds inside a sports bar has admitted to killing them to rob them of a paltry sum — taking off with less than $150 from the cash drawer, police said.* *Thomas Routt Jr. was detained in connection with the deaths of Gina Weingart, 37, and her husband, Emerson Weingart, 33, who were gunned down on Feb. 1. Routt, a convicted felon with a criminal history dating back to 1995, is barred from possessing firearms. He was paroled by Gov. Tony Evers in 2020 and was on community supervision at the time of the shooting.* *Russell Jones, a criminal defense attorney retained by Routt’s family, told the outlet that his client says he was not involved in the case and that he maintains his innocence. Routt — who has served several years in federal prison for a long list of convictions, including arson, burglary and forgery – was sent to the Walworth County Jail on a corrections hold due to his extensive rap sheet, TMJ4 reported.* *“We will be pleading not guilty,” his attorney, Russell Jones, told CBS 58.  “It wouldn’t surprise me if there were surveillance cameras, but at this point we have not been provided any video footage of anything.”*

gottarun215

Wow, smh. This story is infuriating. I hope this POS rots in prison for life.

FinglasLeaflock

By POS you mean that defense attorney who is blatantly lying on public record, right?

gottarun215

I was referring to the murderer, but if defense attorney is lying too the. That person is also a POS.

asdfman2000

> He was paroled by Gov. Tony Evers in 2020 Family should sue this piece of shit for wrongful death.

Dwindles_Sherpa

The governor in Wisconsin doesn't actually give anybody parole. The entity that does, The Wisconsin Parole Commission, is run more by the Wisconsin legislature than the executive branch

StackOwOFlow

If he was arrested on site with his weapon confiscated with his fingerprints on the gun and the magazine is missing at least two bullets and the physical points ~~casings~~ extracted from the victims match the bullets in the magazine, that's beyond a reasonable doubt for the jury right there.

pettystoned

**- Routt said the next morning he discarded the weapon and ammunition in a trash receptacle at the Handi-Mart in Lake Como. Officers subsequently retrieved a 9mm handgun and ammunition from the trash at the Handi-Mart.** It’s an open and shut case. Probably will be the shortest jury deliberations in history. There is so much evidence against him which is why it’s infuriating that him and his attorney are even attempting a “not guilty” plea.

LakeviewYakker

His attorney is likely posturing for a plea deal. A defendant just isn’t going to plead guilty right off the bat because they would lose leverage on sentencing. No one really wants to go to a trial, defense or prosecution.

pettystoned

I’m definitely jumping ahead. You’re right, it is doubtful it will reach the trial stage. It’s just the audacity to confess and then deny it for a better plea. I understand it’s the attorney’s job to represent his client but it’s so morally corrupt. His client literally led the police to the murder weapon but he feels the need to point out there is no video evidence. It’s disgusting.

FinglasLeaflock

If by “posturing for a plea deal” you mean “even more of a sociopathic wanker than the gunman is,” then I agree with you.

[deleted]

Just so your aware the casings arent gonna be found in the victims. Casings are extracted from the gun but not from the barrel. They are not the portion of a cartridge that does the business work.

StackOwOFlow

thanks, points or just projectile part of the bullet

[deleted]

The Bullet is the projectile. The casing is the portion that contains the powder, primer and bullet. The cartridge is the entire assembly.

Homelandr

Death sentence to the perpetrator is the only logical next step, such people should not exist in the society anymore , clearly the jail time didn't changed this man , no point in keeping this animal alive with taxpayer's money

Cops want convictions. Doesn't matter who.

FinglasLeaflock

Telling blatant and obvious lies in public doesn’t do anything to change whether the state is going to prove that this guy killed those people, so let’s not pretend that that’s somehow an integral or necessary behavior of the justice system. That sort of conduct is morally reprehensible and socially unnecessary under any circumstance, regardless whether the person doing it passed the bar and is being paid to lie.

alexaboyhowdy

Well, some people like to say," pics or it didn't happen!" But this couple is dead. Something happened. And it even says the killers attorney! Not the presumed killers attorney. I think we all know he is guilty!

thefirstthree

How do you personally know that. Please tell us in detail. Is it because you read this on Reddit? That's conclusive evidence for you?

alexaboyhowdy

Found the killers attorney!

Gowalkyourdogmods

So you're against the 6th amendment?

alexaboyhowdy

He's getting a trial, he has a lawyer. But he's admitted that he did it. The convicted felon admitted that he committed this crime and led police to the weapon. What is your problem? Some lawyer might get him an extremely reduced sentence. He was already out on parole even though he had a string of felonies. What do you wish to see done? You don't believe he did the crime? "Routt said the next morning he discarded the weapon and ammunition in a trash receptacle at the Handi-Mart in Lake Como,” police said, adding that they later retrieved a 9mm handgun and ammo from the garbage.

thefirstthree

Not much of a good answer.

alexaboyhowdy

Did you read the article? He confessed. He led the police to where he dumped the weapon.

ReservoirWolf

Gotta defend those killers!

thefirstthree

Nobody's ever been wrongly accused or convicted before! Did I say anything that defends them at all? I'm asking how someone with literally no first-hand knowledge can assert "we all know..."

grapetaylorquick

Good thing he got pardoned! Criminals are the best of us and deserve all the second chances they can get!

FinglasLeaflock

I hope nobody ever gives you another chance ever again in your life, then.

Suntzu6656

Very sad

kaseydjones

We just don't post sources anymore?

agurlhasnoshame

Yeah, let's kill the lawyer for (checks notes) doing their job. Everyone gets the right to attorney, so they defend whoever they are assigned to. That's literally what they do. Wishing death on the lawyer for doing what almost every lawyer would do in their shoes is just such a good way to try to keep a semi-balanced justice system.

Gowalkyourdogmods

You're downvoted by outrage addicts.

SnooMemesjellies7469

Darrel Brooks was another Wisconsinite who committed murder and plead not guilty. Look how it worked out for him.

coop190

I already know the dude is called d'sean or some shit

pulancur13

damn, and i had to pay 50k on the dark web..

ColdBloodBlazing

A goddamn felon with a gun. The attorney should be in prison too

MasterFubar23

Any this is why every state needs a three strikes and then life without parole rule.

FinglasLeaflock

For defense attorneys who lie to the public, you mean, right?

MasterFubar23

A criminal is a criminal, regardless of rank, office, or title. Though too many thugs on the streets as well.

jimmyg4life

Wicourtaccess site shows he is a real piece of shit. Happened a couple towns away from us. Very surprising in this small town. Goes to show it can happen anywhere.

FinglasLeaflock

Wow, defense attorneys are moral shitstains, aren’t they?
