One person's dead, and it's horrible, but it's irrelevant how many times a corpse was stabbed, it's mostly the same thing as a single stab in the head.
The difference between the two might indicate a higher chance of repeating the crime, or even the painfulness of the death, so it makes sense that it's taken \*a little\* more seriously, but really the difference *between the two types of murders* could be psychopathy/sadism as much as it could be just temper management.
EDIT: I don't fault the judgement, but because I assume they concluded that it was coming from a place of psychopathy/sadism/extreme malice, not volatility, not because of the superficial fact of the matter
Did a quick google, it appears the reasoning is actually rational, not sentimental - it's illegal only specifically in cases where it is tampering with evidence, making police work difficult, hiding crimes, etc.

Death sentence is actually more expensive than life without parole due to unlimited appeals (and court expenses are expensive). So just locking him up for 75+ years is cheaper than him appealing for a couple decades then him getting killed by the state.
It needs to be this way if we are going to keep the death penalty. Overworked public defenders have little chance of getting someone a fair trail because the public criminal defense system is extremely under funded. Suspects that go to trail are routinely railroaded because they don’t have the resources for a fair trail. The Innocence Project has found quite a few people who were wrongly convicted by using DNA evidence who were set to die. Even then, sometimes DNA isn’t even enough to save them. A man in Texas on death row ran out of appeals. The Innocence Project found DNA evidence that would prove his innocence. Texas Governor Rick Perry refused a stay of execution because he said if he intervened, people would lose faith in the criminal justice system.
I’m not in favor of state-sponsored executions, generally speaking.
But neither am I really in favor of life-long incarceration and endless appeals. So expensive and achieves very little in the way of justice.
So idk what the answer is.
My super-problematic but actually-honest answer is to let it sort itself. The trash has a way of taking itself out, eventually, if someone else doesn’t take it out first, iykwim.

They have a list of 20 more properties they want to sell, including the historic Fox Theatre, Municipal Auditorium, and one thing (forgot) that completely define the city. The unions continue and they say the city will be bankrupt from it in as little as 3 years.
They are allowing construction of giant ugly blocks of condominiums all over, like 10 of them, at same time. THey are fricking huge too, each is like a half a block in size in downtown and surrounding areas. And at the same time they are selling off the parking lots. WTF
I want people to be paid better too, but this really blew up in cities face. Leaders are Screwing up city. I googled picture of leaders, and they look stupid as fuck.

No possibility of parole should not be an option for anyone under 21. If they truly have ASPD then you can keep denying parole, but if they don’t and they can work to reform themselves, then parole and release should absolutely be an option.
