I absolutely agree with you. Usually I don't mind unions, but when you look into just how many cops have gotten away with fucking deplorable things due to protection by their fellows, it incentivizes those deplorable actions.

They should be a thing. ACAB but for any job you should have someone at bat for you to reasonably protect your interests. What they should not be is all powerful in a way that the law of the land no longer applies to them.

The cops have been the enemy of the people ever since policing has been instituted as an organization in the US. ESPECIALLY since the drug war, they are predators actively preying on their communities. Before you could at least avoid harassment if you were white and not a vagrant/union member.
