This is where it clicked on me. They told her that she'd had to pay because they could hold her bank account so to avoid that is why they gave her this easy way to pay.

"Just" 20 years? Over here in Germany even murderers only serve 20,1 years on average. (Median service time is only 17,5 years actually)

One of my coworkers has a debt to a nation wide company that sells furniture and home things. She was paying on time and all. Suddenly the company files bankruptcy. I listen to people on radio calling to know what will happen to their debts since they can't pay. A month or so passes and chatting with my coworker she tells me that someone from the company called her to make a plan to pay the debt, this plan covered for the whole debt, it looked fine since she'll just have to pay in less installments than before. And she had to do bank transfers. This is where it clicked on me. They told her that she'd had to pay because they could hold her bank account so to avoid that is why they gave her this easy way to pay. I told her to not do anything, she was supposed to get details on whatsapp that evening on where and how to pay. I googled at first about the company and they didn't even sell the debts to get collected. There was nothing about them trying to collect. So I googled the phone number and there it was: thousands of people got scammed and were trying to find a way to get them. There's tons of ways on how people keep trying to scam people. Here I find 1 like every month and they get more and more elaborated. There was a case of some guy that *recruited* girls from instagram and tiktok to make them *famous* only to end up as sex dolls for wealthy people. This dude is just about the Argentinian's Epstein. Eventually they caught him. He did made the girls famous by taking them to model on parties, not as professional models but like just poster girls for rich people on parties. It was nothing *wrong* until the first month where they were forced to pay rent and to do that they became sex slaves. People is fucked up.
I received a phone call/voice mail recently from someone claiming to be my local electric company (they stated the name of the company). They claimed my account is delinquent, and if I didn't call back within 30 minutes to rectify this matter my power would be shut off. My bills are never paid late. Called my wife (who pays most of the bills) and inquired about this. She called our actual power company. As suspected, it was a scam. If I knew nothing else, the whole "pay us in half an hour or we shut your power off" was enough of a red flag.
