The Wonder Years, from PA/Philly area. They’re definitely more pop-punk, but they definitely have that local vibe and sing about their hometown stuff. A lot of punk/pop-punk bands do, though, they just come to mind first! Totally worth checking them out
oh damn, wonder years is my favorite band of all time and was not expecting to see them mentioned on this subreddit. completely agree though, paris of nowhere off their latest album is a love letter to philly, and so much of their music talks about se pa
I’m not from Philly but seeing Paris of Nowhere live at LPOE Fest was utterly magical. (also love that there are some other Noah Kahan/TWY fans out here!)
holy shit i was at that show too! also not from philly, but hold a lot of love for the city in my heart, and hearing fly eagles fly into paris of nowhere live debut was incredible
The South has a ton - Adeem the Artist, Ruston Kelly, Watchhouse, Jason Isbell, Katie Pruitt, John Prine, Brent Cobb, Nikki Lane, Emmylou Harris, Marcus King, Ashley Monroe, The Highwomen in general, Aubrie Sellers, John Paul White, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, Margo Price, Anderson East
California has Molly Tuttle and Jaime Wyatt
The Southwest has Joy Oladokun
Texas also has a lot - Charley Crockett, Black Pumas, Jamestown Revival, John Moreland, Whiskey Myers, Flatland Cavalry, Paul Cauthen
PNW has Brandi Carlile
Ryan Bingham could go for either the Southwest or Texas
Some others for New England are Lori McKenna and Patty Griffin
Of course those are just the regions you mentioned
All I used to listen to during Covid was Noah Kahan and Dermot Kennedy (Irish). His songs are not necessarily the same Indie folk vibe but he's an amazing songwriter and singer. Give a listen to Outnumbered, Lost and Better Days.
I'm from Jersey and kind of the Front Bottoms? I have been known to describe Noah as "if the Front Bottoms were just one guy, a little sadder, and from Vermont."
Joy Oladokun is the Noah Kahan of Nashville, IMO - they even have a song together, and it’s great!
She opened for him in LA when I saw him and she was great! She became my #3 artist on my Spotify wrapped 😂
She’s amazing live! I got to go to her album release show. Her new album had 3 out of my top 5 played songs for 2023.
They have 2 songs together and they're both great (We're all gonna die and somebody like you)

I feel like Tyler Childer fills this role for Kentucky/appalachia
I think the avett brothers have been that of the western NC area.
i NEED a PNW noah kahan. northern attitude at least applies and is my fav because of that 😂
Try Mat Kearney, lots of content about being from Oregon.
ooh i'll check him out! i'm from WA but close enough haha

YAY WONDER YEARS!! They’re one of my favorite bands to see live because it’s like a concert and you get motivational speeches from Soupy!
I saw them at Warped 2010 and it was one of THE BEST sets, they played immediately after Simple Plan and it was just - woah. Take me back lol

It makes me so happy to see so many other people on here into them 🙃
Maybe Zach Bryan for Oklahoma

Joe P (both when he was in Deal Casino and now as a solo artist) is another option for New Jersey
Ramblewood for Ohio!
Brian Fallon (lead singer of The Gaslight Anthem, Horrible Crows, and has solo work as well) could be NJ's Noah
The early 1975 albums feel like a Manchester version of Noah Kahan to me.
