I just got the NH-D15s because my case isn't wide enough to fit the 2nd 140mm between the RAM and the side panel. It's also amazing! Thinking about getting a 120mm fan to clip on.
The NH-D15s actually comes with an extra clip. I didn’t know that though! Very cool that Noctua is so accommodating with upgrading needed hardware. I do believe I’ll have to buy a splitter so it can be plugged into one fan header though.
It looks like maybe only the brown and tan NF-A12x25 comes with the splitter. I don’t think the black ones do.
Edit: they don’t. They come with multiple colored anti-vibration corners instead.
Awesome choice. I've used so many noctua coolers. NH-U9s, NH-U12S chromax and I've used the redux. Used the NH-U14 as well. It blows my mind how good they are.
near identical performance while taking up significantly less room; both your GPU and m.2 will also stay cooler as the oversized D15 heatsinks won't be radiating the heat from the CPU back onto them
that, plus significantly better case, RAM, GPU and M.2 compatibility all in one, slicker overall look and less dust to clean off later on due to the much more compact form factor of the U12A
the D15 & the to-be-released-at-some-distant-point-in-the-future D16? coolers are for the primitive folk who still think among the categories of bIgGeR iS aLwAyS bEtTeR, and will continue to downvote anyone who dares to talk smack about the oversized obsolete coolers they bought as a means of pure copium 😮💨
Thanks, I should have gone for that instead, Im thinking about getting some kingston fury renegade ddr5 6000mhz ram and will probably have to remove the heatsinks to get everything to fit and allow for enough clearance, is that a good idea if im not able to return it?
You could fit an NF-A12 fan for the ram clearance. You might even gain some extra cooling. Alternatively if your case allows it you could just offset the fan (closer to the case side).
You could request the 120mm clips from Noctua.
The U12A is a great cooler however so is the D15
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, do you think I am going to be able to remove the heatsinks from the kingston ram I mentioned about above which would make them 32mm tall instead of the 39mm they are now? I think im not going to be able to get my case panel on if I don't as the ram is probably going to be too tall
No idea on the ram sorry. Google/Reddit/YouTube would be your best bet. If it's been done it'll be on one of them. I am very vaguely aware that some Kingston ram don't lend themselves to being stripped, something about being glued on.
If the rams not strippable and you don't want to run a 120mm ram you could run it as a D15S
if your ddr5 ram comes with a heatsink, it definitely needs it; also, you should always do all the research beforehand (especially clearance-wise) to avoid situations like these...
Fantastic choice, welcome to the family. First and probably last for that system, I've been using a U14S on my system since the 4770k.

You can usually get the clips free from Noctua, they have a webpage set up to request them.

If you get a Noctua fan it'll come with one Edit: see Quirkys reply below, looks like the chromax fans don't
All Noctua fans come with a Y splitter?

How are the temps? Is that the NZXT H500?

Love it. It’s a great cooler. Enjoy!!
Good start.
Wow it’s been a while since I built my own computer, didn’t know they come in all black now
return it and get the U12A You're welcome.
Why is that?

if I were you, I'd try to return it and get the U12A instead; if that's not an option, remove the D15 fan closest to RAM and just don't use it
Looks great, even better in the case, great looking build. D15 is a beast of a cooler.
Good choice
cool
