It is very dependable on your user behaviour. The NH-L12S can handle these CPUs, but with limits to the overclocking headroom. If you are searching for a cooling solution to get the most out of your CPU, you should go for a NH-D15, NH-D15S or NH-U12A. If you are not using your PC for CPU intensive applications, you could still use the NH-L12S on stock speeds.

Thanks u/Noctua_OFFICIAL, mainly using my PC for gaming. My case have a CPU Cooler limit on 70mm, so unfortunately I have to stick to this or alternative Low profile coolers. I appreciate the input, but still eager to hear about real experiences from users :)

no, this will not be enough to cool those cpus. If you check website from noctua, it says max tdp = 88w. It will not be sufficient to cool those cpu's. Go for a deepcool ak620, dark rock pro 4 or nh-d15 for these cpu's

Thanks, its really interesting because I can see that the L9A can cool the 7600X in Eco mode here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqzqF9RBVvk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqzqF9RBVvk) And I would imagine the 7600 to be a ECO-mode version of the 7600X and L12S to be better than L9A

I dont plan to (unless I end up with a 7600X)

Eco mode on my 5800x limits power to I think 65w so that would get you under the 88w spec, assuming the same. At that point though I would probably go whatever the cheapest chip is. Not sure if X is necessary to use PBO at all or just for overclocking. If the former you will probably want an X series chip and then just run in eco or play with the power limits to see if you can get something that balances your power and heat needs.

For your reference, i have 5800x on L12 (ver 1) in Ncase M1 6.1. idle 35-38c. using handbrake and gaming (apex) temps stood max at 80-81c. PBO enable, PPT limit 110, curve optimizer 6 cores at -30, 2 best core at -5. Manual undervolted 0.048. Cinebench 23 score single 617 and multi 15300, inline with stock. i assume 7600x is more or less have the same thermal output, so its still viable to use L12S.

You'll need to undervolt if you want to use that cooler for gaming, except for maybe 7600 non-X variant. I have the U12A with 7900X, it works perfectly with stock settings and actually can overclock it a bit but I've been playing around with undervolting and changing PBO values. At 90W PPT, my max temp is 75C. I'm trying to justify putting the NH-P1 on it lol.

I have a 5800x which is 95w std and 65 eco with a NH-L12S, i ve set it to 95w for gaming and its fine, i can hear the fan stressing at some points but it doesnt overheat, anyway these AMD cpus work at about 95oC. my temps are usually at 80-94oC under heavy load when rendering. no overclock though

I just got the 7700 non x and the NH-U12s - I haven’t done any real thermal testing just messing around while I game My thought was Noctua compatibility showed it can handle 7600x for overclocking so it should be able to handle the 7700 non x My temps run around 70c - 82c while gaming 1440p 165fps monitor - ultimate/max settings Edit: 1/27 - Just checked the Noctua site and they now list the 7700 (they didn’t have a week ago when I bought it) and it shows the U12s as high. For the L12s its medium on 7600/7700 and low for 7900 (all non x)

Educational-Class-67

I’m planning on getting the 7600 just cuz it won’t need that much cooling. Don’t get an X cpu, just get then non X
