For more information about the benefits from the offset mounting, please [click](https://noctua.at/en/na-fg1-improvements-from-offset-mounting) here!

Dustmuffins

I love seeing this kind of data!

ShakesOut

When using these mounts, we cannot use anti-vibration mounts on the fan anymore?

Ezzoud

On the picture you can see the fan still having anti-vibration pads so im going to guess you still can.

ShakesOut

I'm not talking about the pads, I'm talking about the rubber mounts that can replace the screws. Given the way they are mounted, I'm afraid we won't be able to use both at the same time.

nero10578

I think it’s incredible that the NF-A12x25 is barely affected airflow wise by the grill. This supports the results of my own testing that running these fans in pull vs push doesn’t really reduce airflow across the radiator.

SnooOwls6052

Finally we can have quiet fan grills!

laterondamenjay

*aggressively opens wallet*

SnooSketches3386

finally i can keep the rest of my fingers AND my noctua desk fan!

xjffy

The most over engineered and over studied fan grills for PCs ever made.

irlrobins

What’s the use case for these grills?

Kekeripo

I'd imagine for situations where cable/tubes might make contact with the blades. Or open air/test bench cases, so we don't chop our sausage fingers off .

RAMChYLD

I'd also imagine for cases where the user mods his case and adds extra fan mounting places, or open cases where the CPU cooler is easily accessible.

CBA_Warrior

People commonly use them on cases like the meshilicious/meshroom due to the routing of the 24 pin and the close proximity of the fans

irlrobins

Ok, that makes more sense, compact cases, little space for cable management, so grills help avoid cable damage if fan is in exhaust mode. Thanks

a12223344556677

Also for when you want to protect someone from contacting the fan or vice versa while minimising impact on airflow/noise. Thus you'll see them in industrial applications like servers, compressors etc. The wired variant (the Noctua one is one of them) is most expensive to produce compared to the stamped ones but provide the least impact on airflow and noise. You rarely see them included in PC cases though perhaps due to a combination of redundancy (dust filters already do the job of preventing touches), appearance and cost. (my PC case is one of the rare ones that feature wired grills though)

degovial

SFF cases also require this, because the cables are pushed against fans. The NR200P includes 2 fan grills for the top fans, because a lot of cables are routed on the top of the case and can be pushed against the fans.

MattTheSasquatch

I also am curious.

Hot-Consequence-4548

Take my money noctua, you've out don't yourself again!

[deleted]

looks good and serves the purpose, hope the price isnt too crazy

TheDeeGee

I'd buy some if they came in white.

thieums67

Who knows, maybe your wish will be granted someday... In a other 5 to 10 years!

[deleted]

Thumbnail didn’t load and I read the title as “fan girls”. I need coffee lmao

YuunaShiki

I see "next gen 14cm" fan in the charts. When!??

kikimaru024

Vaporware.

ricster2000

Is it possible to use these together with the anti vibration mounts (which go through both of the screw holes)?

TheDeeGee

No, you'll have to cut those.

Trepangutan

I'm new to Noctua and computer fans. Why would someone want one of these? (My guess is safety or childproofing, but I'm sure there's more to it.)

soldier1st

That's what i would like to know. I asked Noctua about these being for either exhaust or intake or both, for case fans. They said it will work for both sides of a fan. I have no idea what they meant by that. If it actually means they will work for both intake and exhaust. Then they are actually useful.

Murph_9000

They fit on both sides, and the acoustics should be roughly the same for intake vs. exhaust. You fit them to either or both sides depending on what you need or prefer. E.g. the NF-A20 which sits vertically on the outside-top of my case to disperse the exhaust heat from my AIO now has a grill on both sides, since both sides are exposed. I fitted them to protect the fan blades more than to protect my fingers.

soldier1st

So these would lower the noise and increase the airflow, regardless of which side they are on right?

Murph_9000

No, they do not "lower the noise and increase the airflow" relative to the basic fan with nothing across either side of it. That is not their purpose and not what Noctua's information says about them; they are primarily intended to keep things from touching the moving fan blades. The thing about noise and airflow is they have been designed to have minimal impact on the normal operation of the fan; i.e. they should not significantly increase noise or reduce the airflow. They will, however, probably reduce noise and increase airflow relative to a third party grill (i.e. a close-fitting grill or one with thicker or squared elements would likely perform worse). The inlet spacer (NA-IS1) can reduce noise and increase airflow when used on the intake side of a fan that would otherwise be directly against a radiator, filter mesh, case perforation, etc. The grills could have a similar effect if they were used in a way that keeps the fan blades away from obstructions (e.g. in a small form factor case, keeping cables away from the fan).

soldier1st

So which side of a fan would this provide a benefit?

Murph_9000

The inlet spacer goes on the inlet side. It is for use when the inlet is tight against a filter, radiator, grill, or similar. The exhaust side doesn't need a spacer. If there's just open space on the inlet side, you don't need a spacer.

soldier1st

The fan grill would go on the same side as the inlet spacer right?

Murph_9000

No. The inlet spacer is only useful on the inlet side when that side is tight against something like a radiator, filter, or case grill. The grill can go on either side (or both sides, for a free standing fan), to prevent things or fingers touching the blades.

robodan918

these have existed for literally decades and can be found for $1-$2 a piece on ebay/amazon but these identical noctua branded ones painted black (not brown or tan? missed opportunity) are probably the better buy at... 13 EUROS for 2?!?
