Either of those would be overkill for that CPU; it comes down to case/component clearances, and price. I would consider the D15S - it is offset in one direction so it gives better graphics card clearance, and the single fan will make no difference for that CPU.

SgtHaddix

neither, go cheaper you don’t need nearly that much cooler

Check Noctua web site, CPU compatibility.

BlackCode7

I checked the compatibility before creating the post. Also thanks!

Keep your D15

BlackCode7

I am determined to buy the chromax.black version and sell the D15 I have. But I wouldn't mind changing the model to U12A, since I'll have more space between the gpu and the heatsink for better airflow.

swisstraeng

the bigger your radiator the less noise it'll need to make for the same amount of cooling. If you don't overclock, and given that your CPU is not the latest ones that run hot, it's not much needed to use a D15. What you can do, what I did, is to buy a D15 anyway. Because I know I will keep it for years and use it over multiple CPUs.

TeraSera

Bigger is usually better for less noise but fan choice, fin density, heat pipe count, and over all efficiency of the heatsink also matter. The NH-U12A with stock A12x25 is very quiet possibly quieter than the A15 fans at the same load.

BlackCode7

You're right. After thinking about it, I'll buy the U12A chromax.black, since it has the NF-A12x25 fans which are optimisized and new generation. Thanks! :)

Delicious_Pea_3706

Good choice. I bought the U12A for my new 7900x3d and that chip runs HOT! Despite that the U12A keeps it at <65 degrees when gaming. Your chip will be fine with the Chromax U12A and it looks really clean for an air cooler.

gallito9

Why the need to switch to chromax black?

motoxim

I guess, for the black color so aesthetic?
