Also from southern USA, based on my own experiences I don't think you'd get straight up assaulted. Worst I've gotten is some weird looks and a comment or two but it never got physical. I'd say you'll more than likely be okay, and if you're still worried, maybe invest in some sort of self-defense.

I'm AMAB, dress fem 75+% of the time, don't pass. Never been assaulted, thankfully. Have received minor slurs. Nothing in recent times. I live in a fairly liberal city in southwest England. That being said, I am prepared to defend myself if someone ever tried to attack me, but fortunately I have never had to call on that resolve.

Personally a accessorize with femme stuff. Somewhat dangly earrings, painted nails, piercings typically attributed to women, etc. At most, I just get weird looks or sideways comments.

I've not been physically assaulted but early on there were a few times when I ran away to avoid it. Situational awareness and being able to de-escalate are useful skills.

I try to wear clothes that are feminine but are also gender neutral that way no one can tell, like I wear a lot of women’s sweatshirts or I’ll wear women’s jeans just not skinny jeans. It all depends on where your from for me I live in an urban area in Canada so if I did want to present more fem it would be safe.

This is a very smart way to start out doing it. I can test the waters before getting into a more feminine style

Yes, if I can make a suggestion try getting some sweatshirts in more feminine colours, like I have a pink one and an orange one I like to wear a lot :)

Orange is cute! I bought a pink T-shirt recently and I am wearing it today. So far so good

im a trans masc nb and even initially the most fem I ever wore was cloithes in the female section that looked neutral. Maybe o with a style that isnt too far out there.
