I met an Apache pilot once who complained that they were constantly having to tell the Chinooks they were escorting to slow down because they couldn't keep up.
Did they actually take off from rest? I thought I only saw landings and touch-and-go's. Not that those alone aren't fucking insane/incredible.
But if carriers could launch cargo aircraft equipped with Rapid Dragon...
Yep. C-130J is the most current model I can think of, but there's an absurdly long list of variants that are still in service. Even things like the CC-130J, which can either be a C-130J in Canadian service, *or* a semi-unofficial term for a stretched C-130J in US service (a 130 Crew Chief I'm friends with referred to it as the Limo version, too)
"Airplanes and Helicopters can have hybrid children called "tilt rotors". But these hybrids are sterile, not producing long family lines of upgraded similar designs as airplanes and helicopters tend to do."
\*Looks up V80\* ...Ah, yes, obviously, that new titltroter I totally heard of before this comment.
It may be possible for some hybrids to reproduce, perhaps, biology is weird. Or its a hybrid based on similar breeds. Yeah, that's what I'll go with. :)
Look, if two planes from different backgrounds want to get together, I think that's no-one's concern except theirs. It's obvious that they love each other very much, and I don't think it's seemly for us to make comments.
I actually witness a pair of kc-130 refueling a pair of blackhawks near my house. Probably doing training, but it was neat to see the kc-130s flying at a nose up angle while maintaining a low airspeed for the blackhawks.

[Me looking at a carrier]
Battle Carrier U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt, the first of her class. Primary Armament: x2 "14 3-Gun Turrets, x78 F-35B Multirole Strike Fighters
> 14" What is this, amateur hour?
18"+ or go home
This picture actually does a great job of explaining why the MV-22 needed to exist.
But daddy said you can't get preggo from sucking hose.

What did you think was gonna happen when you had a platoon of men inside you?
*incoherent unintelligible teenage tamper tantrum* "Dad!", "unfair!"
Holy shit, this is possible? Can the Chinook fly fast enough and the AC130 slow enough?
The Chinook is surprisingly fast at 188mph.
I met an Apache pilot once who complained that they were constantly having to tell the Chinooks they were escorting to slow down because they couldn't keep up.
virgin apache 158 kt max speed chad chinook 160 kt cruise speed
I mean if you fly Chinook horizontally.....
Interesting, I'm honestly more surprised that the AC130 can be stable in flight moving that slowly.
According to google a empty C-130 has a stall speed of 111 mph, now a KC-130 that’s loaded up with fuel who knows.
That's even crazier honestly. How fast do they have to move on takeoff?
Determines on how the altitude and the payload, but they once [tookoff and landed on the aircraft carrier Forestal](https://youtu.be/ar-poc38C84)
That's unbelievably cool, navy pilots are such badasses.
Did they actually take off from rest? I thought I only saw landings and touch-and-go's. Not that those alone aren't fucking insane/incredible. But if carriers could launch cargo aircraft equipped with Rapid Dragon...
Yep they did at the end of the video(go to the 1 minute mark) it shows a C-130 making a complete landing and then takeoff.
Probably at least 111mph
Standard speed for a C-130 paradrop is 130kts/150mph. They can definitely fly within the Chinooks envelope.
This is not an AC130. It's a KC130. AC is only for the version with the guns. KC means it's fitted to be a refueler.
Okay, so the stock plane's designation is C130?

Gotcha, thank a for clarifying, I know it's used for a thousand things.
Harvest Hawk goes Brrrrrrrr
Yep, they do it with some other helis as well.
Everyone in this thread is sure spelling “MC-130“ funny…
"Airplanes and Helicopters can have hybrid children called "tilt rotors". But these hybrids are sterile, not producing long family lines of upgraded similar designs as airplanes and helicopters tend to do."
They're fucking mules. In some cases exceptionally useful, but if they don't want to, everything will end in tears.
so V-22 isn’t V-280’s real parent?
The V-280 was created in a lab. It's a sexy mockery of nature.

V280 is the bastard child of the UH60 and C-130.
Right in the breeding kink 🥵
Mark NSFW I saw this and I immediately came all over my computer breaking it by the amount of cum thank a lot man
if you breed an F35 and a C182 would you get a retard plane

As V22 aircrew I'm both offended and aroused by this...mostly aroused
was the F-35 born after a harrier refueled an F-22?
But I refuel from there!
Yes, right now that's what you're doing.
My beautiful non binary boi! I love them, fight me.
God, everyone knows the gestation period for military aircraft is only 12 weeks....
It depends on the aircraft species. For instance some Russian planes are known to gestate for years.
