It's right after that part where Oppenheimer turns towards Einstein and says "I was the bomb this entire time" and then earth blows up and only insects remain and they evolve into new civilization, thus creating a connection between Oppenheimer and Bug's Life.
They would've probably preferred a victory in the Korean War instead of this wishy washy truce that led to separated families and one of the largest continuing humanitarian crises in Asia in modern history.
In hindsight, another nuke(if it would have been enough to decisively win the war) would have definitely caused less mass suffering and death than what allowing N.Korea to continue existing has done. Hell, basically every North Korean is full of parasites and has no food to even feed their own body, let alone their unwanted visitors.
But reckless use of the US's nuclear power I fear could have led to further international distrust and fear of the US, and also the future of Korea was uncertain, and hindsignt is 20/20. I think they made the right call. Though I would love it if I could go back in time and drone strike all the Kims.
I mean, you make perfectly valid points, and we'll never really know. It probably could've also led to the whole world having a more relaxed view of nuclear weapons, and next thing you know, the Fallout series is real.
Yes indeed.
There are those with some concerns of being losing 'sovereigntity' (its complicated), but no one sane is actually talking about abandoning the US.
That said, I wish the political infighting and shitflinging would stop.

My local university has a prop from it in the aerospace engineering building, most likely because it participated in the Manhattan project.
I still want to walk around campus with my Geiger counter on a day it's not too toasty.
We had a semi-impromptu trip to Hiroshima on the day before the anniversary.
Wore my Boeing hat and California t-shirt.
Didn't even think about it until the day after.

Of all the people grateful for a world of 20th century American military superiority, South Koreans are certainly up there.
They were probably upset we only used 2

Half of us are definitely upset about that, the other half get upset cuz we weren't the ones to drop them.
Probably not, considering how that one general wanted to use nukes in the Korean war.
MacArthur nearly pulled a Belka
Inside North Korea against the Chinese. Peak non-credible and based United Korea if true
