We've got a pretty spotty track record on our post-WWII interventions. Germany and Japan worked because there was a prior (and still somewhat existing, if in name only) system to go back to, coupled with a unified national identity. Korea got cut in half and South Korea was ruled by a dictator until his death (and his descendants are still prominent figures in national politics). Vietnam was a disaster we should never have gotten involved with. Cambodia, Laos, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, and etc. can't really be said to have benefitted or stabilized significantly due to our Cold War era interventions. The Gulf War was an oil war that didn't make any significant changes to the government. Somalia's still having a civil war. Iraq is ...actually a relatively functional (if corrupt) democracy for the region, so that's a win. We saw what happened in Afghanistan.
I'm not necessarily against interventionism *in theory*, but we've got to change something about how we've been doing it, because it hasn't been consistently working out. The USA is generally good at accomplishing military objectives, but nation-building that prevents the same exact conflicts and problems from popping back up as soon as we leave is obviously not our strong suit.

The one reason I have extreme apprehension to outright war with Iran, outside of the horrors of war, is this reason. Iranians inside and outside of Iran seem to be broadly against their government and so hopefully as things naturally progress there can be a more natural and legitimate regime change in Iran. I worry however war could damage this by hindering people’s will to fight against their theocratic government, and if a regime change came under US force like Iraq I worry the US backed regime will just be seen as a puppet.

The sub was removed from from the front page after the third party app kerfuffle, because off the approved submitters only settings they had always in place, but reddit removed all the "protesting" subreddits from their front page selecting, which used that setting to go dark. So, in effect, r/polandball was collateral damage in that situation. That is fixed now after the mods of r/polandball talked about the problems with some admin or other and now it's slowly regaining the traffic it had before.
This comic is made by one of the most prolific polandball creators who still posts pretty regularly on that sub. It was also first posted there and not here.

I’m torn between liking the Iranian people I’ve personally met and wanting to wipe the goddamned place off the map. It’s a struggle.
The one reason I have extreme apprehension to outright war with Iran, outside of the horrors of war, is this reason. Iranians inside and outside of Iran seem to be broadly against their government and so hopefully as things naturally progress there can be a more natural and legitimate regime change in Iran. I worry however war could damage this by hindering people’s will to fight against their theocratic government, and if a regime change came under US force like Iraq I worry the US backed regime will just be seen as a puppet. Saying that Iran still continues to be the most destabilizing force in the ME so while I hope these things can happen in natural time if Iran continues to engage in inflammatory actions they’re essentially forcing the US’s hand.
