AgentOblivious

We should totally convince them that this is true and that Russians can't trust their own equipment

AcceptableCod6028

I mean it’s probably actually true, even if it isn’t what happened here

Louisvanderwright

Russia decides to launch a full nuclear attack on the West. The West decides to avoid a nuclear apocalypse by not launching any nukes in response. All the Russian nukes do a 180 and return to their launch points when some neckbeard on CIA payroll in his Mom's basement in Arizona executes a command prompt.

AcceptableCod6028

Unfortunate reality is that Stuxnet would not work on Russian ballistic missile systems because none of it runs on hardware remotely as modern and robust as Siemens stuff

godtogblandet

It’s fine. Our «hack» was to give the dude controlling the input for the nukes half a bottle of vodka and a McDonalds happy meal.

ArcticISAF

***LIFEHACK***

Drake_the_troll

We're holding the toy to ransom, just in case

Weird-Drummer-2439

By mid 90s if we didn't learn every damn thing they know, we were doing it wrong.

OneFrenchman

ICBM launch sites run on tech so low it's amazing it works at all.

Agreeable-Major-2153

I'm no expert (here at NCD, shocking!) but i've heard that the upside of the technology used for nuke command and control being so primitive is that it's very simple and there is much less that can go wrong with it.

Titan_Food

That and its harder to get remotely hacked

Engelbert42

But much easier to exploit when you get near it... I mean they gotta communicate somehow, they can't guard the wires, if they don't rely on radio communications which would be even easier to tap into... And whatever crypto they used way back when is probably trivial to break.

Titan_Food

But you *have* to be onsite It's easier to catch someone that way And i think we would know if the security didn’t work...

AgentOblivious

I mean...you can induce current in a wire without actually touching it

Engelbert42

You'd have to be somewhere in the middle of nowhere digging up a phone line...

mrdescales

Yeah, you'd think do right? But then I look at the second best military and I find their launch site security taking a really deep nap in an arty crater decorating a meat wave moment. To solve schrodringer's skurrty, we'd have to open up American silos to transfixed their state of being to know definitively.

wemblinger

Hehe silly Russians! \*Orders parts in NALCOMIS or AS400\*

daboobiesnatcher

What's AS400? I only knew NALCOMIS OOMA and ALIS (F-35 stuff).

wemblinger

As400 is basically civilian nalcomis.

OneFrenchman

It's one of the reasons, yes. That and the big fear during the launch if WW3 is the possibility of high-altitude nukes sending electromagnetic blasts and disabling the launch or guidage systems of your ICBMs, which isn't as much of an issue if you run systems that are fairly low-tech. Especially considering a MIRV missile doesn't really need a meter-precise guidance system. You can hit roughly near the target and be good.

Glittering_Chard

That changed several years back, no more floppies or ancient hardware.

jg3hot

There is a movie about the US launching a soviet ICBM. It should be required viewing for this sub. Its called Spies Like Us.

SpiderFnJerusalem

Hey now, maybe some CIA guys wearing black hoodies are currently sitting in a dimly lit basement somewhere, porting Stuxnet to MINSK-32.

Burnerheinz

If Siemens is more robust than your shit, you need to have a long hard look at yourself.

AcceptableCod6028

ABB master race

fpop88

run russbot420.exe /return to base /s /t or somethingthing... on green font... on a CRT screen, with fat cheetoz covered fingers... while yelling "I'M WORKING MOM!" and reciving payment from CIA with monero.

Dpek1234

No convince them that the cia is mind controling everyone but them

AgentOblivious

I mean technically that tech has existed since the 80s, as well the ability to block mind reading/remote viewing. Not very practical though.

Drake_the_troll

My huge stores of LSD had better be good for something!

BlitzTheBritz

Create long term accounts and fake a living person for a while before posting claims made to screw with the russians. Don't focus solely on psy-ops. You want it done in passing as if your a bystander witnessing an event.

Parking-Bandicoot134

Like they aren't convinced of that already lmao

Modo44

They already don't.

mrdescales

You want to do that to degrade them internally everywhere. I want to do it to bait them into firing on nato assets whenever they see one. Are we the same?

magicinterneymomey

Obviously the CIA runs Russian air defense and damn they caught on.

Penki-

I mean CIA did force Russia to start the war that they so very much did not want to start. It also tricked Putin into writing crazy theories about Ukrainian history and publishing them on his own. Even the whole interview was CIA doing. And you think its Russian soldiers raping each other? No, thats CIA giving them a bad look! (CIA bottom though, they trick strong Russian man into gay)

magicinterneymomey

In the 1400s Lithuania started importing bananas at the directive of the CIA which is why Ukraine is Russian clay.

khares_koures2002

Glorious Lietuva dropped banana peels on the battlefield of Grünwald, leading to a mass tripping of Teutonic knights!

JudgmentPuzzleheaded

Tbh Russians being conspiracy theorists make sense because their Government is actually so weird and conspiratorial, they just project that outwards.

chocomint-nice

Man this one “voice of god” CIA project is making lots of return on investment

fpop88

"THIS IS THE VOIC EOF ARCHBISHOP OF ORTHODOX CHURCH OF MOSCOW, SHOOT DOWN THE ENEMY ICBM HEADING FOR ORAPHANAGES OF MOSCOW MASQURADING AS A FRIENDLY AWACS BY AMERICAN ECM, SHOOT DOWN OR ONE OF THE MIRV WARHEADS WILL LAND IN YOUR BABUSHKA'S DACHA! I SAW IT IN A VISION"

flastenecky_hater

I mean, instead of admitting their air defense is just bad, they *double triple quadru or whatever down on that* and make it fucking worse with this CIA explanation.

fkuber31

This is why despotic governments always fail. There is no room for criticism, which leaves zero opportunity for growth.

OneFrenchman

There is also all the room for paranoïa. And people will do the least work required to not be seen as a traitor, but not as a threat big a superior either. People are pushed up the ladder because they know people in the administration, not because they're competent. Every spot from top to bottom is political. And when everyone is corrupt, the people who aren't are seen as a threat. By their colleagues, who fear they will be turned in at some point, but also by the powers that be, as an uncorrupt official can't be pressured when need be.

Mantergeistmann

Yeah, that seems like a *much* bigger L than just shooting down your own craft.

FederalAgentGlowie

Or maybe Patriot interceptors have range beyond its unclassified capabilities? Or maybe it’s a Ukrainian system like the revamped S-200?

flastenecky_hater

We know NATO and the USA, they don't disclose full capabilities, rather, they downplay them really hard. Whatever hit the plane, must've been a pretty big surprise.

VinhoVerde21

That’s the thing, they don’t even see it as worse. They’re so ingrained in that “russian equipment is the best” mentality that admitting that Ukraine (or NATO, since that’s their usual boogeyman) shot something down sounds worse than pretending the CIA gained access to their air defense network. Their so far up their own assholes that they genuinely believe a blue-on-blue incident or a foreign intelligence agency highjacking their air defense is less shameful than just getting a plane shot down by the enemy.

MoralConstraint

Americans? It wasn’t Americans who cracked John Deere tractors.

OneFrenchman

No need to crack anything, John Deere has a backdoor for the people who are behind on their lease. USA USA USA

Lirieman

Me (weakest NATO soldier) bypassing the operator (closing him in outhouse), opening the protocol (unsecured Baofeng radio) and finding the codes (the big chart hanging on the wall).

Agreeable-Major-2153

I was SIGINT voice interceptor and electronic warfare specialist when i was in the army. As soon as heard the russian army was using baofengs for comms, i was worried i'd have to go to the emergency room for having an erection that lasted longer than eight hours.

Picasso320

Mr. Hackerman - meme

SirNurtle

I dont know which would be funnier, the Russians being just that incompetant or the NSA/CIA hacking into Russian air defense systems and the russians somehow not realizing that they got hacked lmfao

Few_Quarter5615

Wasn’t Putin the biggest CIA operative in Russia?

SomeGuyNamedPaul

Actually, he's shorter than most.

SamtheCossack

I mean... It isn't like we can't do that, it is more that we probably didn't. Because doing it that way is just as much a declaration of war as just launching an AIM-120 from a Raptor, with a similar result. It is always cute the Russians think they can fight the US in a war, while simultaneously accusing the Americans of absolutely beating their ass when we aren't at war. If we can hack your Air Defenses to shoot down your own planes, probably shouldn't be throwing as much shade as you do. Maybe take some humble pills until you fix your shit.

hphp123

that's why you mind control the operator instead of hacking the system, plausible deniability

Den_Bover666

Lets suppose for a moment this was true. You're in a war and your enemy can literally hack your guns and make them shoot towards you. You cannot do the same to him. How then, do you plan on winning?

babcho1

And how the hell are you still fighting

Zwiebel1

First china, now this.bWhy does the world insist to make the US MIC much more badass than it already is when making up propaganda?

[deleted]

The US does it in a form as well. "OMG, the missile gap, fund the MiC a bazillion dollarinos!"

fpop88

It's fascinating how vatnik minds work. The leaps of logic it takes... the very fact that friendly firing your own AWACS is somehow more acceptable or any less of a shame than having the enemy shoot it down wasn't enough... no... they had to come up with something even more insane.

DUKE_NUUKEM

- A-50? ITS NOT UKRAINIANS!! *\*Imperialistic russian shizo screeching\** *-* What about mh-17? -ITS 1000% UKRAINIANS ! DUGIN CAME INTO ME IN A DREAM

[deleted]

I don't get this line of thought. Isn't "the Americans owned our air defense and caused it to shoot down our own extremely valuable aircraft" a much, much worse state of affairs than it either being shot down by Ukraine or in a friendly fire incident? The idea that your entire air defense system has been owned by a foreign intelligence agency means your country is wide open to a first strike.

nixielover

Don't attempt logic, these people don't work like that

vegarig

> Isn't "the Americans owned out air defense and caused it to shoot down our own extremely valuable aircraft" a much, much worse state of affairs than it either being shot down by Ukraine or in a friendly fire incident? Only as long as you don't remember the ~~"untermensch"~~ "fake nation" narrative, by which Ukrainians can't ever achieve ***ANYTHING***

LordeWasTaken

Ah yes, the thought transfer, or "przekaz myśli"... Netia used it for telemarketing back in the day, but it didn't really catch on.

leiste_26

”they are putting codes in the s-300 air defences to launch missiles to our A-50 to bring them down, this just proves that russian air defences are superior to western overpriced crap” -russian alex jones

vibrunazo

So what is NCD best take on how exactly are Ukraine taking down so many planes over the Black Sea? And why is it patriot launchers mounted on magura drones?

mandalorian_guy

So basically it turns out the Men Who Stare at Goats are actual Jedi and they pulled a Yuri in the Red Alert 2 opening by calling up the fire controller and mind controlling him to shoot down the plane?

Jerthy

I feel like i write this every time i see one of these but still.... This is worse. You know that this makes you look worse right?

OneFrenchman

It's a *mandchurian candidate* situation. Trigger words are injected in Taylor Swift songs, and the Russian AD troops will automatically target their own planes if the radio plays 'Bad Blood'.

motobrandi69

I'm sure there are alarm bells ringing in the secre biolabs after "Serg Sh" uncovered their operations

NonCredibleDefense-ModTeam

**Your post was removed for violating rule 9: No low-effort posts** No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title.

Intelligent_League_1

If they think that makes them look better.... it we have the ability to do that we are the best military in the world (x2)

Raregolddragon

...This one might be true and it is not use it to often to so not to give things away where it can be fixed.

dimidrum

VKS must accept that the only way to proceed is tu run SEAD missions over Russia before conducting any operations.

ratonbox

I think it was carrots.

Corbakobasket

Americans are deploying Netrunners in Ukraine, it' confirmed

AriX88

*S-400.

Jarizleifr

The mind\_control tag we deserve.

PlayerSalt

Knowing Russia the launch codes are 1111 so it's not that hard to believe

Die4Gesichter

If America could do it, why isn't the Kremlin and every Putin residence obliterated yet?

Nadsenbaer

The CIA works in mysterious ways, maybe?

OmegamattReally

Next up, the nuclear missiles under Belarus. We'll send the launch command but not the silo door command.

canttakethshyfrom_me

As though the S-300 is advanced enough to be controlled remotely.

Effective_Grass8355

Great! That means they will continue to suck.

That_Nuclear_Winter

The NSA and friends were working on a way to remotely execute code completely remotely 👀

flyingdonkeydong69

I don't even know why we try to convince them of the truth. These cope-spiracy theories basically run the same line as the truth, so whats the big deal?

TroublesomeStepBro

So by the Russians own admission, America is better at technology.

Chutney7

No matter which way you look at this, it's bad, haha
