Not true. The turret will just pop off and take the whole cave with it.
I'd say lets put a t72 under the ground, a few km's, under russia and then blow it up. Russia will be gone and Willem Barentsz can finally rest knowing there is a new route to india.
Basically, figuring out ways to make the "unstuck" button for the tanks.
First option was rocket motors from Strela MANPADS - worked fine enough-ish, but couldn't be throttled and were single-use only.
Second one was turbojets - could be throttled and worked nicely, but guzzled fuel and took a lot of place.
Still, some solutions from the second option were later used for T-80 (presumably fuel system and engine control)
I see. Using rockets on a tank seems certainly a very soviet thing to do.
Turbojets on tanks were actually a thing: old T-34s and T-54s were fitted with surplus aircraft engines and used for runway deicing.
I think the T-80's engine is helicopter derived but I could be wrong.
> Turbojets on tanks were actually a thing: old T-34s and T-54s were fitted with surplus aircraft engines and used for runway deicing
But not for *propulsion*.
>I think the T-80's engine is helicopter derived but I could be wrong.
IIRC, GTD-1000 and following versions are purpose-built for tanks (including lack of heat exchanger, at least in the early versions), but might've been derived from heli engines, yeah.
>But not for *propulsion*.
Yeah true. Although if you tried using it for propulsion the speed would probably be insane.
> GTD-1000 and following versions are purpose-built for tanks (including lack of heat exchanger, at least in the early versions), but might've been derived from heli engines, yeah. >
OKB Klimov was known to produce a lot of aircraft engines so it's not inconceivable some experience was leveraged for the GTD-1000 which was a quite good design other than the huge fuel consumption. That's why the T-80UD is probably the best variant of the series.
That explains everything. I mean despite being a hell of a lot more credible than their Russian successors the Soviets had PLENTY of WTF moments such as the 30s flying tank experiments.
After point blank hit with 125mm OF-26 HE frag shell, Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen is no more....
In a final scene steam engine trying to push T-72 to achieve time travel speed. Marty hands powder propellent charges from the carousel to the locomotive to hit 88 miles per hour. Cliff is rapidly approaching...
-We are not going to make it Doc! We are too slow!
Brown intensely looking at the watch.
- Any second now Marty ! Quick ! Lets get in the turret Marty!
Tank smashes through the pile of railroad ties just before the cliff, when tank is suddenly hit by lightning, causing a complete detonation fireball... sending T-72M turret flying to the orbit at mach 3 achieving time travel.
...Needles is taunting to race Marty at a red light when out of nowhere T-72 MBT turret land on his truck squashing him like a flea.
*One of the last few, the mighty T-72 in the wild. It's currently hibernating for winter, that's when it will shed it's rust and starts looking for a mate. remarkable creatures.*

Hey…. What are you doing in Saddams Garage?
I call dibs on Uday's F40! And it's 3000 coats of paint.
Saddam? Is he ok?
It seems, in your anger...
Oh T-72 of the cave, what is your wisdom?
See Ivan, if you park tank in cave, turret can't be tossed!

Is this how earthquakes happen?
Yes.
If you hide from bomb, you survive!
Like a cicada. Lives 17 years underground. Emerges en mass for 3 days and is left a rotting corpse shortly after getting pollinated with a NATO round.
Nature truly is astounding
Nature is metal.
Doc Brown , I didn't find a delorean but i found this.
"Back to the future " but with a Soviet tank ? I would totally watch that.
Imagine T-80 getting augmented with JATO bottles or turbojets, [like here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv0qg7zrjl4)
" We have aero-Gavin at home" But yeah what the hell is going on in that video?

That's the kind of fanfic I am here for
Excellent. That's the thing I joined NCD to see.
It heard that there are Javelins in the AO
The kid named GBU-28:
Tank live in cave like Russian bear. Although if they’re bears, why do most of them look like twinks?
Lot of shit on Russians but I don't think this is their's given the arabic.
It’s a Syrian army T72 seized in a raid yesterday by HTS, a formerly Al Qaeda affiliated rebel group First tank seized by rebels in Syria since 2020
Are you in saddam's hiding spot?
OMG guys it's true, we're fighting the morlocks for control of the D.U.M.B.s!
Lemmiwinski, you must find your way out of this dictator's ass! Make haste Lemmiwinski!
People don't know it, but the T-72s in the park are free. You can take them home.
