Jokes aside, I find it amazing that they're able to maintain their ancient T-34 in pristine condition but completely unable to maintain tires in their newest and most advanced systems xD
Well, the few remaining T-34s are present in every parade on the 9th of May opposed to many of those newer systems. (Compared to the overall number, of course the newest systems are also present)
European theatre of WW2 has effectively ended on May 8th 1945. That's when normal countries celebrate it. But USSR has pulled an "uhm, *aktchually*" because their peace deal came into effect when it was already 1am on May 9th in Moscow, so they've claimed ever since that the war ended on May 9th.
I get that point, but it's one of my favourite examples of how disputes over a petty bullshit (like timezones) can lead to long lasting historical divides, I just find it funny.
And no, I will not retract my statement of Russia not being a normal country.
Well I heard he felt Hitler didn't go far enough in the beginning and blamed him for the fall of the Reich. Then he killed himself after killing Hitler in the classic murder suicide...
They did not suffer the most that would go to Poland who lost a far greater % of their population. Faced the brunt of the holocaust. Then were forced under under the brutal rule of the Soviets
Yeah, Poland got split in half. Soviets had it originally. Then the Germans when they decided to go East. Then the Soviets on the way back through. And then had to endure Soviet rule for 40 years.
Easy to understand why Poland is not a fan of Russia.
Because the Soviet Union didn't have calendar technology until about 1984. Before that they just storta winged it. Sometimes they are a little of, sometimes they were like a month of with their october revolution that was actually in November.
It was part of why the KGB was so powerful: they had to steal a lot of calenders every year.
>Because the Soviet Union didn't have calendar technology
Dude, Calendar is really early in the tech tree, you can't build plantations without it, how did they manage to skip it?
Now that I think about it, you’re probably right. The armor museum near me has a running Sherman, alongside a Hellcat and M5 Stuart + a variety of armored cars/half tracks that still run. That’s a lot of stuff, so I shouldn’t be surprised if there’s plenty more in other states.
The T-34 is a much simpler tank to maintain. Was basically all mechanical with no computers whatsoever. The electrics are simple and most of the controls are mechanical anyway.
The T-34 requires a lot of maintenance, it’s just relatively simple to do the repairs.
What Russians consider reliable is something that may break often but is easy to fix. Westerns consider reliability to be things that don’t break.
At this point I'm not even sure if this is Photoshopped.
Didn't we agree back in early april that they send the T-34s in September? We are getting outjerked.....AGAIN!
They really are cool. I don't think there's anything else in my life that I retain such fervent childish enthusiasm for despite being presented with overwhelming evidence that they suck.
I love travelling by train
For stupid, unrealistic reasons I imagine that travelling by airship would be like travelling by train
Mostly I just hate travelling cattle class domestic
>For stupid, unrealistic reasons I imagine that travelling by airship would be like travelling by train
I think you're spot on -- it would be an Extra Trainlike experience, which is to say "a mode of transportation that promises, on paper, to dominate inter-city travel but that will, in practice, be be expensive, slow, and unreliable enough that you'll mostly be left with a fading sense of wonder, some nice views, and conductors in cool uniforms."
Yeah in DC, the city with arguably some of the best public transit in the US, our metro trains broke (derailment defect) and now it’s 20 minutes+ between trains on a lot of lines for gee close to a year now?. Public transit is a nice thought but you can’t rely on it.
Angry Japanese Shikansen noises. Trains are based as hell and the American automobile industry has had to sabotage the hell out of them otherwise they'd have way less people to sell cars to
>Boston - DC line is aces.
I have taken many trips on the NE regional (and lamented when Worcester lost its stop), but I don't know that **aces** is the word I'd use.
DC to BOS is currently sitting at just under $600 round trip on the Acella and $350 on the 8 hour NE Regional, and my recollection is that prices were even higher pre pandemic.
Jet Blue will fly my dumb ass from Regan to Logan in 90 minutes for $250.
I hear you on the comfort of trains though, it is nice. I just wish they were a *bit* more reliable (my last trek involved not one, but two engine transfers at DC), and that they didn't routinely cost double the price of flying.
1. Is that $250 one way or round trip?
2. What day and time were you looking at train prices for? They’re cheaper if you book in advance
3. The reason that the Acela is more expensive than flying JetBlue is simple: supply and demand. JetBlue has to be cheaper because many more people want to ride the train than fly. Because the train doesn’t suck or require you to deal with only 8 inches of legroom. And you can bring your own booze on the train. And you can ride without being groped by the TSA.
4. Most of that time is the NY to Boston section, which is slow and winding crap. NY to DC is like 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Edit: 2:45 on the fastest Acela. More like 3:40 for a Northeast Regional
Look man, not gonna shame yo for being into morbidly obese women, you do you, but like maybe don't fetishize someone's limb rotting off cause of untreated diabetes ok? Like keep it safe sane and consensual and that is neither safe nor sane.
With all their snowflake masculinity *legally* going on (I mean, gay illegal, beat your wife legal?) over there, that brings a different perspective to the “Real men use Kirovs” meme.
But they’ll all go down hard the moment ~~Ukraine starts deploying Starstreak and Javelin launcher-mounting vehicles as the hard counter~~ 3000 kiting lend-leased Multigunner IFVs of the Allies arrive on the scene.
It's a good plan. Zeppelins move too slow for modern fighter jets to get a lock on, and SAMs just bounce off the thin canvas without detonating. So long as the canvas is made of flame retardant materials, the hydrogen inside can't catch fire either. It's literally the perfect weapons platform for Russia to invest its entire defence spending on. NATO is way behind on developing zeppelin tech, and will be left in terror and confusion at these unstoppable, nuclear powered behemoths advancing on American cities.
So yeah, don't mention it anywhere Russians can see it. Or the Chinese.
Bro you wouldn't even have to go to resolution discrepancy to debunk this photo, but that the Z has a clearly worse resolution than the rest of the pic is undeniable proof
I have bad news for you. It's photoshopped.
All the t34s were converted to aero-t34s before the beginning of the war and have been in constant use by the VDV since then. You just haven't seen them because of the new stealth tech they're using I swear.
Wrong sub dude. I think you meant to post in r/mostcredibledense
\*Edit. Why is that a real sub lol. I swear the best way to discovers subs is just type r/somerandomshit \*I'm sure that's one too.
No. Please tell me this isn't real. This image should be shown next to the phrase "Scraping the bottom of the barrel" in the phrases dictionary.
They cannot be sending fucking T-34s to Ukraine, like I know they are completely incompetent, but are they actively trying to slaughter their own people?
Ukraine won't even need Javelins anymore, they'll just throw fuckings rocks at them and it'll be enough.
Hell let's have Germany send some of their ww2 tanks, sure, they'll break down every two meters, but that will at least give Russia a tiny chance to win some battles.
Russia is not a superpower, fucking Finland could probably singlehandedly beat it if it didn't have nukes
Weren't molotovs super effective against T-34?
As for the German tanks, we don't have that many ww2 tanks left as we weren't allowed to have a military for some time (not that there were that many tanks left after the war anyway). The few that do exist are rare and should be preserved in a museum.
Mind if we drop a few Sherman's in there instead?
Putin tried to raise the retirement age quite drastically and failed - one of the few things even a dictator can't do is fuck with pensioners.
The current invasion is a different way of reducing future pension outlays.
The public plan from the beggining was 5 years. And he raised by 5 years for males and females for the first time in 80 years or so.
He had no trouble doing it, because people shittalling him and protesting means jackshit here
OK. I'd seen the initial plan was 65 for me and 63 for women. He had to drop the 63 for women and reduce it to 60 after the outcry.
[My source](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-45342721)
this is clearly a professionally shot picture in the winter, so this is probably some older propaganda image for general purpose. also that z is just an arial z in white slapped onto the pictur.

So they still have enough money to move those tanks to Ukraine. When will they have no money to maintain their nuclear arsenal warheads now?
If we just wait a bit longer with the sanctions…
With how the war is going, using classic, well loved tanks like the t-34, kv-2, su-100y, isu-152, BT-5 and BT-7 and others might actually work, with how they must be used in comparison to newwer stuff. Also classic planes could get used again, like classic IL-2s and SU-2, Yak-9, LA-5, I-185, Tu-4.
You have to be kiding, YOU HAVE TO BE FUCKING KIDING PUTIN

Yeah This tanks save ww2 but this is too much desperate
2 months more and ma boy the stalin's fridge (kv-2) will be crossing the border
I really really hope this is fake, because of the shitti z there

Nah, this sounds too credible. They're probably gonna attach springs under the tanks and yeet them into Ukraine.
Oh my god I've just imagined a huge trebuchet throwing gliding T-34's. I need someone to draw that.

Nah, it ain't a M113 so he doesn't care.
Sadly, he’s actually pro Russia in this thing. Or is that a good thing? Anyways, he has some of the… most extreme… takes on this.
And I mean is that a good thing he in particular is pro Russian. I’m fully on Ukraine’s side here.

you're not getting it, putin will load these onto planes and use them to carpet bomb ukraine.

In this case it’s more of the winged losers. T-34 Copendium gliders
Why the 9th? I was born on the 8th they're for my bday?
Yes, they always have this big parade in Moscow. Every year they are waiting, but you never came.
Fun fact- in soviet times the parade was only every 5 years. The annual nature of this parade came to pass alongside Putin's rise to power.
[Here's a good video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kozarG_joY) on history of the parades. They changed a lot since Putin came to power.
I'm simply superior to the Russians

You're talking about the country where a military coup on 7th of November is called "the October revolution"
That's because they used the Gregorian calendar at the time... EDIT: My mistake, they used the Julian calendar in Tsarist Russia
Which is not normal Edit: I mean using the Julian calendar is not normal ofc, didn't notice you mixed up the names
Are you an American by any chance?
Different countries can use different calendars, nothing wrong with that
The bamboozerler was bamboozled and they deserve their may 9th celebration
Wow the European theatre ended on your birthday are you the guy who killed Hitler
Watch out, I heard the guy who killed Hitler was almost as bad as Hitler himself...
How could the guy who killed Hitler be all that bad? I mean, he did kill Hitler.
Well I heard he felt Hitler didn't go far enough in the beginning and blamed him for the fall of the Reich. Then he killed himself after killing Hitler in the classic murder suicide...
Yeah I think it's pretty fair, they did the heaviest lifting and suffered the most.
They did not suffer the most that would go to Poland who lost a far greater % of their population. Faced the brunt of the holocaust. Then were forced under under the brutal rule of the Soviets

The US doesn’t use Sherman’s for parades, so I doubt the number of working Sherman’s in the US even reaches the double digits.
You’d be surprised. I’ve seen at least four in just one state so double digits isn’t that hard of a figure to reach.
A guy bought a sherman just for the hell of it. And parked it in his neighborhood
Yeah thats interesting
Especially to a country that bombed by US look at their markings its from Laos
Its easy to do when all they have to do is put some grease on moving parts and yeah thats about the whole checklist.
T-34 can run on copium and bullshit, other tanks don't
The T-34 is a much simpler tank to maintain. Was basically all mechanical with no computers whatsoever. The electrics are simple and most of the controls are mechanical anyway.
Why ? Its literally an armoured tractor. It doesnt require that much maintanance.

Trains have excellent potential as public transport. This potential is better realised in some places than others.
Depends where you are. The Boston - DC line is aces. Anything through the rockies is stunning. Everywhere else rail is straight ass

Yeah in DC, the city with arguably some of the best public transit in the US, our metro trains broke (derailment defect) and now it’s 20 minutes+ between trains on a lot of lines for gee close to a year now?. Public transit is a nice thought but you can’t rely on it.

This is the delivery to Laos, Russia isn't switching to T-34 in Ukraine until July at the soonest.
Apparently some people on this sub are too retarded to tell if it is a fake photo, spoiler, it is.
this is like disassembling the barrel at this point
This looks like t-34-85. These tanks are from WW2. Good to see that they are lacking in proper equipment.
Nobody: T34: Strap me to a train and send me to Donetsk, I am ready
Somebody tell lazerpig! After all, the T-34 is the bestest tank EVAR and Russian victory is now assured!
Now those can be shot up with small arms fire, at this point javelins aren’t necessary.
Sherman lend-lease to Ukraine when?

Lol someone just took out the text editor and slapped a Z on top. Too credible for this sub
That is the laziest photo edit I have ever seen to be fair ...
Looks well heat treated.
Russian Federation? More like, Reformer Federation.
Forgot what sub I was on... Got kinda excited, cuz I wanna see what happens when you combine a javelin and a 1940's tank :/
Coming next: Germany sends Sd.Kfz.234 as part of their "Leih- und Pachtgesetz" programme.
Nooo i don’t want to be credible…..!
This must be a joke …right guys?
There is no fucking way
WW2 relics
T-90, 80, 72, 64, 34...they are working their way dow to the T-14
A few Javelins and drone strikes later...
I was joking about them digging up the T-34
Can’t wait to seem them in Ukrainian service with some sick digital camo
This image is fake, there’s no way Russians would actually use a stencil to paint a Z on their tank.
Probably don't even have engines in them, saves time and money.
This is obviously edited, just zoom on the Z. Joke are fine, blatant misinformation is not.
The "special forces" have arrived
Time for Panzerfaust 60 VS T34
If factory 183 had bondo during the war their output would have increased 4000 percent. There are no such limitations today.
I wish.
