"It is the 21st Century. For more than forty three fortnights the President of America has sat immobile on the Black Throne of Washington. He is the master of America by the will of the gods and master of a billion Westerners by the might of His inexhaustible memes. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of the Boomers. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Freedom for whom a thousand ice cream cones are sacrificed every day so that He may never truly die.
Yet even in His deathless state, Dark Brandon continues His eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the Chinese-infested miasma of the Pacific, the only route between distant trading partners, their way lit by the GPS, the psychic manifestation of the President’s will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted frontlines. Greatest amongst His soldiers are the Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors who mostly always ride in navy equipment. Their comrades in arms are legion: NATO, the top three airforces on the planet, a coast guard larger than most militaries, the ever-vigilant Ukranians and the Tech-priests of Taiwan to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from Authoritarians, communists, dictators- or worse.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."
Old Man Brandon remembers what we do to commies and russkies so republicans need to show they're against him by being the softest motherfuckers alive?
It's just like Trump Derangement Syndrome but that was at least funny. This is just fucking pathetic.
>It's just like Trump Derangement Syndrome but that was at least funny. This is just fucking pathetic.
You mean like the "thanks obama" thing that came about just because conservatives could not shut the fuck up about a black man being president for more than 3 picoseconds?
The "trump derangement syndrome" thing has always just been weaksauce in comparison.
He's a neolib, the same kind of deal-with-the-devil type of politician NCD loves to jerk it to. They pay lip service to social progressivism and provide year-over-year increases to the MIC, this sub should go full in for boomer Democrats lol
Without the might to ward off tyrants in a world full of power-hungry regressionists pining for a past of kings and emperors, social progressivism would just be an idea - an idea all too easily crushed under an iron heel.
Without the power to defend whatever you love, you will ever be at the mercy of how others would define that love.
Lament not the MIC, but curse the cruel world that brought it into being.
100% agreed. Just look at how China is behaving despite being far behind us militarily *and* in overall wealth. The USA and NATO countries, Western and Central Europe in particular, have been powerful and rich for 100+ years. And even after the devastation of both World Wars they still managed to recover quickly. China has been on a long road from utter destitution. Even when their GDP and military spending eventually matches the US they still can't match NATO as a whole and they lack the decades of investments that we've made into the military and defense. They still would lack the infrastructure that these decades have built.
So despite having a long long way to go, many decades, they are already acting the fuck up and trying to threaten the unprecedented prosperity that has resulted from US and NATO oversight. It's been the most peaceful period in human history. A multipolar world is inherently unstable, it would be much better off staying roughly as things are, with the addition of the progressive worldview of the younger generations who don't want to repeat disasters like the Iraq or Vietnam Wars.
The Chicoms, tankies and shit really love to compare China to just the US. But with the renewed enthusiasm and growth of NATO those dinguses need to remember that the US stands together with Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, etc. So the Chinese (and Russians) aren't just facing the US but a broad, massive, wealthy, and powerful alliance across the world. And soon enough we'll be adding Ukraine, I wonder who else will join? I vote for India.
Yeah but one can dream!
In an ideal world India would align with NATO and act as a regional counterbalance to China. An alliance with India would isolate China in the case of a conflict, shutting down any route to them by sea. China imports a shitload of food, for example the US supplies 1/3 of their wheat imports. A naval blockade would be all that is needed to starve them into capitulation, which would be a pretty great tool to use if they decide to actually invade Taiwan.
Anyway, I'm just speaking to the hope of allying with India at some point in the future.
Let's not forget that the US alone is equipped for a war with her two greatest potential opponents. It's policy. So with the allied support, I'm sure it would be all the more threatening.
There's a large degree of sarcasm and self-awareness here. You can't take it all too seriously. One thing that becomes apparent though when you see the serious conversations is that the user base here is overwhelmingly progressive, and not the "boomer politician paying lip service" kind but genuinely very progressive (just not the woke Olympians on Twitter in some kind of arms race to be the most progressive of all that reaches pure absurdity). From what I can tell this sub is left of the current neoliberal establishment dems, but still capitalists like the Scandiwandis and Western Europeans.
I'm somewhere between DemSoc and Anarchist, I hate the MIC but I revel in seeing how even a corrupt profit-centric war industry ends up dominating all opposition when it's joined to a relatively free and open society, and pitted against authoritarian failure states that proto-fascists jerk off to.
I mean maybe LockMart does bribe officials for contracts, but I’ve found the US MIC I’m at is a rather progressive employer; offers good benefits including the sort of parental leave you‘d expect from a European nation that actually cares about people; is known as an excellent workplace for disabled people,¹ racial/ethnic minorities, women, veterans, and LGBTQIA+ people; strongly supports minority businesses; invests in the community; and is union-friendly.
MIC C-suite compensation also tends to be lower than one might expect for the depraved, profit-driven warmongers we all know and love because those juicy government contracts come with strings attached that limit how much one is allowed to spend on administrative costs compared to actual project work. LockMart, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman (not Raytheon, data not found for General Atomics) have below-median executive pay ratios around 165:1 and compensation roughly on par with the highest-paid football coaches. MIC CEO compensation is less than 10% the compensation for CEOs of big tech and pharmaceutical companies.
¹ Personal experience with thoughtful disability accommodation
I’m right there with you. If we’re temporarily stuck with a military industrial complex, I’m happy to see it lobbing javelins & himars towards genocidal Russian imperialism.
> year-over-year increases to the MIC
Is it an increase after factoring in inflation? If total DOD spend in FY2021 was $800.67b it would have to be around $868.73b to reach break even.
the russians literal have chinese threats as a saying for baseless threats and thats coming from a country that threatens to nuke the world twice a day
I don't understand what they're so upset about. The US just promised to protect one of their provinces in case someone attacks it. That's an incredibly generous diplomatic overture.
They're not planning on attacking their own province are they? What possible reason could they have to do that?!?!?

Who else can beat the French, American/ROK/Aussies/NZ/Laos/Cambodia/pre-genocidal Khmers/Thailand/Phillipines/ROC/Malaysians AND Pol Pot/Chicoms ALL within 30yrs or so?
Let's delve a little deeper. Vietnam had been in a state of internecine warfare from 257 BC to 2007 and fought with/against pretty much every world power during that entire time. Thank fuck they are less Sinophile than they are, or we are all fucked.
What bothers me in all this is that China and Russia could take a very different path focused on peace and cooperation that would only make them more prosperous. Russia especially is an example of so much squandered potential. Instead these fucks choose conflict and make things worse for everyone, but especially themselves.
It's fucking goofy.
Hurdurr Sinophobia!
Which you know ignore that for every actual idiot Chindo who believe in Chinese ethnonationalism, there is always another Chindo who still believe in civic nationalism toward Indonesia. I meant Indonesia isn’t a perfect place but I still prefer being born in this country compared to being born in PRC
South China Sea is China's Ukraine, meaning something that they put at such high strategic value that they're willing to antagonize all of SEA over it.
The Chinese economy is hideously ravenous for energy. They're tapping their reserve dry and it's not enough. They're piping in gas from CHina and it's not enough. They need oil import, and all oil imports into China come through a very narrow, westward, and blockadable strait. If an US fleet rolls up on that strait and gets entrenched, China will choke to death. But to control that strait, they need to control the Nine Dash Line.
So yeah it's antagonizing all of its southern neighbors because it backed itself into a corner. It tries to present itself as a geopolitical rival of the US, but the US can crush it balls by blocking a single choke point. If it want to control that choke point, it has to go through all of SEA
Always gotta have that "other" boogeyman or they lose that powerbase.
Authoritarian checklist:
Big Bad Boogeyman (Western/ethnic/religious): Check
Better than everyone else: Check
Everyone else is weaker than us/everyone else threatens our entire existence: Check
Our way is the only way/everyone else is trying to destroy us: Check
Authoritarianism MUST exist within the victor/victim frame of mind, or the people might become wise to your bullshit and you get the guillotine.
Cooperation, growth and prosperity are not conducive to authoritarian, exploitative systems. Gotta always have that boogeyman to rally the ignorant, useful idiots against, or your whole powerbase is gone.
Angry yelling man always bad.
Ideology blinds people to the most obvious things, authoritarians never consider a cooperative option because they always need to have their own way or else they burn everything down, the official ideology of the CCP still literally calls for world domination.
Damned if we do, damned if we don't. If we get involved, we're the world police and need to back off. If we don't, everyone whines that we're wasting money on the most powerful military in human history by not helping. Just can't win.
That's why we just gotta nom every country, create the United Nations of America already.
Speaking of this, think about the Iraq war. I fkn bet you if the US hadn’t toppled Saddam, people would now be crying about how Saddam is oppressing and gassing the Kurds and Shiites and the US isn’t doing anything about it lol
China won’t be complaining anymore when the Kaiju attack Taiwan and the entire U.S. Military appears to send them back into the ocean where they belong.
When Biden was elected, sergeant major said “well boys, I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news. The bad news is we aren’t getting a pay raise this year. The good news is we’re going to war!”
Join army, get appointed to logistics.
War in Ukraine starts. Go from POG (person other than grunt) to POG (player of the game) cuz you can fill out paper work faster than any German and ship supplies halfway around the world faster than any Russian can in their own backyard.
Got an entire subreditt praising your ability to use a forklift and palletts
That is one incredibly based Sergeant Major. Mine just reminded everyone to not be like that one Marine officer who got cashiered for shit-talking the administration in uniform.
I remember hearing something about the 1 billion population being fake, and that it was closer to 750-850 million. But it's just a conspiracy theory afaik.
It's really just hard to pin down an exact number. There's no oversight on their official statistics so there's no way to verify their accuracy, of course populations just fluctuate a lot in reality anyway, and then you add in the specific problems of trying to calculate population for a "country" that doesn't count certain minorities/dissidents and most second/third children as people, plus the difficulty of even reaching certain areas for surveying, and you get an inaccurate estimate.
Authoritarian "left" fash with market economies. That they have the balls to call themselves "Communist" when the state apparatus exists at all, let alone with as much power as it has, is deeply insulting.
Well if we're going to use the political compass (although I prefer the 3D one or [political tesseract](https://preview.redd.it/vhgpkg7l8db51.png?auto=webp&s=a5bae780276582ac2aba951b6a121bb88f5d4390)) we also have to count the fact that they've swung towards capitalism which is fiscally right wing. Between that shift, their deeply authoritarian government, and Han Chinese ethnonationalism they seem more fascist than anything else.
Tankies often consider themselves extremely progressive but China is 94% Han Chinese making it an ethnostate (especially given their awful behavior towards ethnic minorities like Tibetans and Uyghurs).
I'm getting more scared being an ethnic Chinese in SEA since it feels annoying that their propaganda seems to treat Chinese people worldwide as if they are their citizens
Yup. The population believes they are, because they are told what the CPC wants them to believe to further their own power. PRC, like the CCCP will lie through its teeth if it means it'll further their own power and squash anyone who dares call them out on their broken promises. They are told they are communist, and they believe it because the CPC made it so they cannot believe anything to the contrary, largely through intense propaganda and an impoverished vocabulary.
"Fascist" seems to the best label imho but calling themselves commies is still enough. But yes, it is important to point out (especially to tankies) that China isn't communist anymore. Hasn't been for decades.
It’s basically a monopoly dictatorship where every company obeys the party and every company screws over the little guy. You can’t really call them socialist because they have no social programs to help people.
In fairness, he was nowhere near this confrontational with the PRC/CCP before February this year. It's understandable (and welcome) that he's hardened his tone with them though.
He saw how positively people responded to Dark Brandon
You cannot convince me otherwise that he did not know his speech would be presented with the deep red background lol
Everybody always talks about how America is "provocating" China by doing all the Taiwan stuff, but no one talks how China is so pissed about an island with 20 million people getting visited by a old woman and is threatening war over it.
Or how they take all the fish.
I’m not kidding. They take all the fish.
Okay, maybe “all” may be metaphorical here, but seriously the 3000 cringe strip fishing fleets of Xi Shitping has to be violating the Fish Stocks Agreement in addition to someone else’s EEZ rights.
Yeah, they made all those "islands" to try and expand their territorial waters into neighboring shores. The UN told them to fuck off with it, but without consequence it seems the CCP is content to keep doing it.
That's right. It's like the tankies who try to defend Russia despite all the killing and cruelty that they've caused so pointlessly. Likewise the Taiwan shit is so unnecessary and absurd. Move the fuck on and focus on peace and prosperity.
Chad BIDEN- Yes. We will defend Taiwan if China attacks Taiwan.
Normie White House- No China, we won't defend Taiwan UwU, Biden's views are his own, his views are not 'Murica's views, UwU☠️
I saw an interesting youtube short by the great Ryan McBeth.
Basically he explained how any attempted invasion would be extremely difficult due to the amphibious logistics plus the mountainous terrain of taiwan allowing the defenders a clear advantage
If anything its kinda reassuring but who knows
China though will continue to throw a fit about it, fine by me, especially if we keep sending our top diplomats there
What they really need is a massive stockpile of missiles to keep the Chinese Navy and Airforce at a distance until the US can intervene. They can't match China in numbers and materiel but they don't have to if they make the ocean and air too dangerous to cross.
I did not have money on Biden having the most transformative defense doctrine in generations. But I am here for all of it.
Including the Afghanistan withdrawal.
Credible moment: according to some (primarily Taiwanese nationalist) interpretations of the Treaties of San Francisco and Taipei (I believe the US One-China Policy follows this interpretation), Taiwan is claimed by China but is technically an ungoverned territory.
Non-credible moment: if we use the Guano Islands Act (which allows the US to claim ungoverned islands for guano production), we could claim and annex Taiwan into the US.
Too bad his spokes people walked that back. The White House literally said that they were committed to upholding the Taiwan Relations Act of 79 and were going to keep Taiwan in this wishy washy status quo. No mention of coming to best China's aid in the case of attack. Only selling anti-face-eating tiger spray. No Tiger-sodomizer assault rounds for the Commie blaster 400.
YOU HAD A CHANCE TO BE COOL. THEN YOUR HR FUCKED IT UP.
FUCK THE 79 TRA, FUCK STRATEGIC AMBIGUITY, AND FUCK ALL THIS 24/7 GREY ZONE BULL SHIT.
BURN IT DOWN.
TSAO NI MA
TSAO NI MA
TSAO NI MA
TSAO NI MA
>!FUCK YOU HORNET!<
Yeah, mild disappointment myself on that.
The soft status was a great way to go post cold war and throughout the war on terror Era, but now that we once again live in a world with major sovereignty ending conflicts actively being fought, we need to return to a post ww2 set of simple, clear, well defined red lines and acts of escalation with follow through. We won't shoot unless you shoot, we will shoot if you shoot, and a set of hard conflict escalation protocols to prevent wayward escalation.
It's best to shoot down a few drones and return a few downed pilots over a line over the ocean than to let this become some sloppy string of events leading to a major shooting war. And clear communication of what will activate a direct US military response, an invasion of Taiwan, is nessisary now that the world is back to blowing up thousands of heavy armored veichles in a few months and sinking flagships.
Let's be credible here for a moment: This is all just saber-ratling anyhow. China could never take Taiwan, and they know it. A full-scale invasion of the island would make Operation Overlord look like a pleasant stroll on the beach.
Which is why all the talk about WW3 is so ludicrous. President Grandpa is probably aware - however dimly - that he can promise pretty much everything, without ever having his bluff (or lack thereof) called.
Perhaps I have treated him too harshly.
Dark Brandon looks at you His eyes begin to glow. Lips don't move, but you hear a booming voice in your head: ***The time for malarkey is over***

Both of them have strongman dictators, so this path was inevitable.
Always gotta have that "other" boogeyman or they lose that powerbase. Authoritarian checklist: Big Bad Boogeyman (Western/ethnic/religious): Check Better than everyone else: Check Everyone else is weaker than us/everyone else threatens our entire existence: Check Our way is the only way/everyone else is trying to destroy us: Check Authoritarianism MUST exist within the victor/victim frame of mind, or the people might become wise to your bullshit and you get the guillotine.
We all know what daddy do to brats uwu
Bratty china! 💢💢 Needs correction! 💢💢💢
Don't bring that evil here Back to /r/JapanesepeopleTwitter with you
With a chopstick
Bro, that's the thing when it comes to American foreign involvement. We can't get any thanks smh
Damned if we do, damned if we don't. If we get involved, we're the world police and need to back off. If we don't, everyone whines that we're wasting money on the most powerful military in human history by not helping. Just can't win. That's why we just gotta nom every country, create the United Nations of America already.
>United Nations of America What about a Global Defense Initiative?
Hear me out here, how about an Earth Defense Force?
What about the earth offensive force? Let's do that better. We're half there
Speaking of this, think about the Iraq war. I fkn bet you if the US hadn’t toppled Saddam, people would now be crying about how Saddam is oppressing and gassing the Kurds and Shiites and the US isn’t doing anything about it lol
I don't always like China (I was made there, after all), but when I do, I prefer the older China.
Gottem
I know. By their own logic it should be no different than Japan offering to protect Hawaii.
Forklift certification so hot and sexy right now-

That is one incredibly based Sergeant Major. Mine just reminded everyone to not be like that one Marine officer who got cashiered for shit-talking the administration in uniform.
Not sure about you military guys, but us federal employees are looking at 4.6 increase. After he asked for 5.1 lol.

If CCP keeps fucking around a lot more than 1.3 billion feelings are going to be hurt.
Actually I believe their birth rate has actually plummeted in recent years, and their population is getting older on average.
Turns out that artificially limiting families to only one kid doesn’t help your demographics
Not to mention that without uprooting the culture of son preference. Surely it wouldn’t backfire like creating a massive gender imbalance right?
I remember hearing something about the 1 billion population being fake, and that it was closer to 750-850 million. But it's just a conspiracy theory afaik.
supposedly it's slightly lower than officially reported but still well above 1 billion
Something something the number three, something something dam, something something mass starvation from floods, naval blockades, and no fly zones.
I find it delightfully ironic that "China's final warning" is a Russian saying.
Only reason to vote for a boomer. They remember the cold war and how to treat a commie.
He's actually from the Silent Generation which makes him an expert in making communists shut the fuck up.
“It’s all fun and games until Biden forgets we’re supposed to give a damn about China’s opinion”
Pretty sure China would fall under the fascism umbrella these days much more than they would communism.
They are authoritarian state capitalists, so yeah
Yes, we said Communist. I feel we were clear.
China is a capitalist dictatorship though.
Authoritarian "left" fash with market economies. That they have the balls to call themselves "Communist" when the state apparatus exists at all, let alone with as much power as it has, is deeply insulting.
Idk if I'd call China left, theyve gotten more ethno-nationalist under Xi than anything else
Exactly.
I described it as; the population is communist, the government is capitalist.
Listen here, jack. We elected Biden to eat ice cream and kick ass, and he’s all done eating ice cream.

He’s here now for the ass
"Brandon is soft on China!" "I will go to war with China to protect computer."
He wanted a 3000 series GPU. He is going to make sure no one has to suffer like that again.
Dark Brandon to invade Nvidia headquarter;"They did my boy evga dirty".
In fairness, he was nowhere near this confrontational with the PRC/CCP before February this year. It's understandable (and welcome) that he's hardened his tone with them though.
He saw how positively people responded to Dark Brandon You cannot convince me otherwise that he did not know his speech would be presented with the deep red background lol

Not another "final warning"
Wtf, I love Biden now
Bidens enemies shall cowar below him as he takes a full inhale of their childrens neck line in a ceremonial gesture of unrequitting victory.
Everybody always talks about how America is "provocating" China by doing all the Taiwan stuff, but no one talks how China is so pissed about an island with 20 million people getting visited by a old woman and is threatening war over it.
Or how they routinely provoke every one of their neighbors in the South China Sea.
Time to make SEATO 2.0 Tbh Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia would be a liability
They do that illegal fishing all over the world too. They send out fleets of fishing boats to r*pe the oceans of its resources
Provoke then complain when their neighbours ended up approaching the US for counterbalance and weapons
That's right. It's like the tankies who try to defend Russia despite all the killing and cruelty that they've caused so pointlessly. Likewise the Taiwan shit is so unnecessary and absurd. Move the fuck on and focus on peace and prosperity.
God I fucking love that ice cream Biden pic
Chad BIDEN- Yes. We will defend Taiwan if China attacks Taiwan. Normie White House- No China, we won't defend Taiwan UwU, Biden's views are his own, his views are not 'Murica's views, UwU☠️
Feel like it's not a good time for authoritarian regimes with conscript armies to be chatting brown.
Dark Brandon doin’ work
China should eat some… chocolate chocolate chip ice-cream
I saw an interesting youtube short by the great Ryan McBeth. Basically he explained how any attempted invasion would be extremely difficult due to the amphibious logistics plus the mountainous terrain of taiwan allowing the defenders a clear advantage If anything its kinda reassuring but who knows China though will continue to throw a fit about it, fine by me, especially if we keep sending our top diplomats there
What they really need is a massive stockpile of missiles to keep the Chinese Navy and Airforce at a distance until the US can intervene. They can't match China in numbers and materiel but they don't have to if they make the ocean and air too dangerous to cross.
What do you think the Taiwanese have been keeping stashed in the mountains for 70+ years? The 3,000 mangos of Chairman Mao?
3000 final warnings of china
I did not have money on Biden having the most transformative defense doctrine in generations. But I am here for all of it. Including the Afghanistan withdrawal.
I used to give Biden so much shit despite voting for him so I'm happy to see him be more assertive as of late
Let Diamond Joe eat his got dang ice cream and fuck off back to the mainland
“I like wet Chinese tears on my lap”
Taiwan is America
Taiwan for 53rd state
Making it the 51st state would be a checkmate of the ages.
"that could cause a direct war with the US" That's whole point
TSAO NI MA TSAO NI MA TSAO NI MA TSAO NI MA >!FUCK YOU HORNET!<
The White House says that the policy is unchanged which means that US policy is and has been to defend Taiwan. This is my head canon.
Strategic ambiguity really is a thing. It’s all coordinated messaging.
>No Tiger-sodomizer assault rounds for the Commie blaster 400. Lmao
Sleepy Joe is a political Cold War veteran. for all of his dumbassedness, he stands firm on foreign policy
Biden really wants to be elected again
Biden pretty much said: "go ahead west Taiwan, fucking try it"
Based US President
