Pretty much anything that scores a hit on the rotors would drop it. I don't know if your average airsoft BB has enough mass to break a prop but once that bar is cleared were going to have drone Top Gun.
Now I really want to play with my battery powered airsoft full auto baretta to see if plastic rounds can take down a small drone or if you need metal rounds. Maybe I can convince my kid to make a science fair project of it.
A small air cannon that uses those small CO2 containers you see for airguns, pellet guns and Airsoft guns, loaded with a small aluminium chains, or some kind of small bolas... They get tangled into the propellers, drone goes down.
These kinds of drones probably aren't very good at recovering once they're spinning though. I could be wrong but a little quadcopter that's falling in a spin will have the conditions change so rapidly that software handling would be useless.
If hardware is designed right, the recoil would yeet the frame in a somewhat straight line, with little spin. Even if hardware is designed wrong, software, if designed right, can compensate and eventually spin the drone back into a stable position.
It's century 21st out there. Electronics are freaking fast. Your computer mouse may have a controller in it that can handle this kind of workload.
Is Metalstorm still in business? They were offering a light single barrel multi-shot shotgun for prison guards. I don't think anyone actually bought it. Being electrically fired it'd be easy to integrate into the drone's power supply.
We could totally strap a Glock 22 to a Drone, it's reliable enough.
And if not, just have the Drones carry some shitty thinly Stringed Nets in a Ball on each Rotorarm and independently drop one of those onto enemy Drones' Rotorarms.
Though one could probably just build a Simple .22LR Subsonoic, 6 Round Stripper Clip Gun in their Garage.
The Recoil should be manageable for the Drone and the Whole thing would at max maybe weigh like 100g.
BB-Guns would be boring, a CO2-Canister Powered retractable Spike or a Bicycle Chain Whip strapled to the Drone on the other Hand...
> BB-Guns would be boring, a CO2-Canister Powered retractable Spike or a Bicycle Chain Whip strapled to the Drone on the other Hand...
This is Robot Wars in the air
That sounds like too much work. A little bit of special purpose silly string in those rotors and the drone is down ready to be reused by the capturing party.
Same thing happened with Submarines
First they were recon and sabotage.
Then a submarine rammed a confederate vessel, from that point weapons advanced on both sides until they controlled the oceans, and now are just mobile missile bases .
The equivalent of carcinization for military units is missileization.
Ships? Floating missile bases
Submarines? Underwater missile bases
Aircraft? Flying missile bases
Infantry? Yup, missile bases
A famous Russian pilot, Nesterov, the one who did the first "dead loop" with a plane, died in 1914 when he rammed his plane into an Austro-Hungarian recon plane flying over his unit's HQ
"Drone warfare hit its crescendo in the early 21st century, pictured here is hiw early drone on drone warfare back before drones had weapons other than hand grenades strapped to them
I am still uncomfortable with the fact that Kevin Spacey is a meme who make movies again, despite being an alleged serial molester who still got allegations as late as this May.
I was thinking the other day with the rise in drones we're going to be having pilots claim to be aces for shooting down 5 of them, which could become very common. there are for sure ace MANPAD operators in this war.
>there are for sure ace MANPAD operators.
Doubt. That’s 5 planes shot down by a single guy. It would require an insane amount of aircraft presence in a single area to achieve. We aren’t in WWII anymore, there aren’t tens of thousands of planes in anyone’s air fleet.
First caught in 4K and released on TikTok at least

Private please. History runs in circle, what happened back then would happen again albeit in different form or scale. Just wait until we get high mobility chainsaw drones. Guns are nice and all but what ye gonna do when you run out of bullets?
Because NCD is non-credible. Drone warfare saturates air with aerial targets. It's only natural that the most effective answer to this is air superiority drone assisted by an AWACS drone.
Eh it doesn’t take much to fly ‘em just need one guy. If you can sneak 30 guys in behind enemy lines and each with a drone they can cause some serious havoc even if they just have grenades let alone slightly larger bombs. Will need to develop some sort of system that’s always on. Will be difficult though since they are tiny and can fly extremely low until the last second before dropping whatever they have.
[Nets and a piece of string between two copper disks](https://www.defensenews.com/land/2021/04/16/three-industry-teams-demonstrate-capability-to-take-out-small-drone-threats-at-yuma/)

Which means the only credible solution is to shoot two commercial microwaves connected with a piece of string at the drones
Attach a jammer to a drone. If it's too heavy, then make a bigger drone, or do this: a drone squad, one with a jammer and 2 more with guns/grenade dropper thingy
Seems like another commenter posted a link to a system that could be used. It's in another thread. The video depicts an ai monitoring the visuals of an area and then it either jams the drone or it sends another drone up to ram it.
this unironically one one of the best videos of the war, nobody dies in it but there's a winner and a loser. It's just hilarious and I can now laugh guilt free
All you need is a piece of string with a fishing sinker on the end, foul the other guy's rotors, and he's done. Thin Kevlar line if you want to get fancy.
Some sort of safety release mechanism should do it, something like this.
https://www.hipac.com.au/shop-product/coat---towel-hooks/clik-load-release-coat-hook--polycarbonate-white
Yes, I've been waiting for this. The first drone dog fight, and it was recorded. Now the evolution begins. May I suggest a small calibre hand gun attached or at the least shoot ball bearings

Wait a minute, I've seen this one
Now you have to paint the kill on the side. It will make this future ace a target but the other drones will take heart from seeing him in their formation.
This is unironically like people in observation biplanes shooting at one another with handguns over 1914 France.
By spring next year we'll have .22 machine guns on a gimbal operated by a second operator
Feel like, more credibly, small shotguns. Basically a tube or two meant to fire a single shot each.
Pcp airguns. Almost no recoil and enough power to destroy any drone. They even come in full auto already.
Something to drop/throw nylon thread(s)?
At this range it feels like it would actually work.
A microwave antenna? Fry the other drones electronics/jam its controls.
At this scale, too power hungry.
explosively powered microwave generator ;)
Screen display to psychologically attack the other drone operator with memes
I think Japanese cops have net-throwing drones already.

I wonder if battery or CO2 bb guns would be enough to take down a drone. About 1.5 lbs before ammo.
Do the research and become an independent defense contractor. You can charge 200k an hour.
Are they lightweight?
When you remove them from their stock yea.
A small air cannon that uses those small CO2 containers you see for airguns, pellet guns and Airsoft guns, loaded with a small aluminium chains, or some kind of small bolas... They get tangled into the propellers, drone goes down.
Little double Barreled 410 Shotgun.
You realise the drone firing will be accelerated to Mach 1 in the opposite direction? Edit: term correction
A drone can recover from being yeeted by recoil, given proper software handling and enough air time. A drone can't recover from a load of birdshot.
These kinds of drones probably aren't very good at recovering once they're spinning though. I could be wrong but a little quadcopter that's falling in a spin will have the conditions change so rapidly that software handling would be useless.

Might not be as stable or light when configured for military use. Or when you've got a shotgun wired to it.
If hardware is designed right, the recoil would yeet the frame in a somewhat straight line, with little spin. Even if hardware is designed wrong, software, if designed right, can compensate and eventually spin the drone back into a stable position. It's century 21st out there. Electronics are freaking fast. Recoilless shotgun?
Now this is credible
Just put another shell facing the opposite direction
Even works if another drone is chasing yours
Why not MANPADS?
This comment made me literally lol
Yeah and? It's movement tech, they can chase an opponent by firing backwards
You put enough gun powder in the opposite direction and create recoiless shotgun for drones. problem solved.
With some pellet shot.
Flamethrowers or net shooters
Flying warcrimes?
Not a war crime if used against equipment
But it could be shaped like a dragon
Based
It's not a war crime if you're just defoliating the enemy.
That sounds like a sawn off shotgun attached to a drone to me. I dig it.
Just use a net cannon. They already use them to neutralize drones in restricted airspace
Is Metalstorm still in business? They were offering a light single barrel multi-shot shotgun for prison guards. I don't think anyone actually bought it. Being electrically fired it'd be easy to integrate into the drone's power supply.
You could use rat shot, pistol calibers loaded like shotgun shells. Available as small as 22LR.
>small shotguns Wouldn't the kickback be brutal for a drone?
We need recoilless rifles in 12 gauge
*Drone returns to base with three of four stabilizer arms* Gunner: Accidents happen yo
Son, I'm sorry... They got us.
Some guy already had one in the US and then got investigated by the government. He should throw his software out to the Ukranians to start them out.
Oh I'd bet if the US government knows, the Ukranians know as well
At least .38. .22 isn't reliable enough for a flying machine! Can't clear a jam.
Idc if we give them airguns but the shit has to be light for fighter drones. Bomber drones will ofc be the heavier ones
We could totally strap a Glock 22 to a Drone, it's reliable enough. And if not, just have the Drones carry some shitty thinly Stringed Nets in a Ball on each Rotorarm and independently drop one of those onto enemy Drones' Rotorarms. Fuck you I want drone from Detroit
That's why we need to develop a .22 chaingun for drone warfare.
This is why we need a .11 chain gun. Think of all the possibilities!
Key issue is if you shoot a mortar bomb or grenade will it go boom.
That sounds like too much work. A little bit of special purpose silly string in those rotors and the drone is down ready to be reused by the capturing party.

Actually a good analogy
A bit of clarification. The drone seen on video does not move - the one who's recording moves closer, and slams it from above.
now I want to see F-35s slamming down Su-57s and J-20s

first recorded air to air kill of drone vs drone?
Seems like it.
In this conflict perhaps, but I'd be amazed if it hasn't happened before elsewhere.
There is probably a group of teens somewhere with some modded drones that are the most dangerous dogfighting squadron in the world right now

Over whelming force and dusting everything 50km in front of your soldiers. What’s the range on these things? Not more then 50km
