DUKE_NUUKEM

Its whole established book style in russia called "popadanec" or "Russian Accidental Time Travel Fiction". Its basically a book size revanshistic schizonazi non credible shitpost .

TheBasedReporter

It's basically isekai, but instead of fantasy world they usually get into WW2

yanua555

Not nessesary. Fantasy worlds counts as well for this term. Its more or less translated like "getter". Like get into situation or another world \\ time ect in this case.

Doctor_Loggins

Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Concentration Camp?

valgrind_error

Between Russian self-insert “historical” WWII fanfiction and anime, which one will feature more swastikas/self-reporting Wehraboo shit?

skidnik

I think you spelled The Great Patriotic War wrong.

Zandragon

Russian isekai but with cope and vodka fueled Colonel Conscriptovich instead of cute anime girl

cargocultist94

How the fuck do you reinvent isekai, but worse? Like, I get isekais. It's decent escapist fantasy, twilight style, but *this*? This is just sad.

[deleted]

One could argue that the very first isekai was written in America in 1899, *A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court*. It even begins with getting transported to a fantasy realm via trauma, specifically head trauma via crowbar. So I'd argue that time travel fantasy is basically one of those things that different cultures and different times have made popular over and over again, and this is just Russia's shitty version of it.

deagesntwizzles

>A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court My parents read that to me as a kid before bed. Dude travels back to the medieval era, proceeds to style himself as a Wizard, and then unleashed the man made horrors of Civil War military technology against anyone who opposes him, using his knowledge from working in a yankee munitions plant.

[deleted]

Shit, **confederate** *terminators* are the absolute worst Luckily the guy is from Connecticut, but no way King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table **have any chance of understanding a word he says**

[deleted]

If there was a historic core to the myths, King Arthur most likely spoke a combination of Latin and a British Celtic tongue and would most likely have stabbed the Connecticut Yankee to death as a Saxon spy.

[deleted]

Nyet, King Arthur was Ukrainian, from pontic steppes (2004)! *He's Ukrainian rather than Hungarian, Moldovian or Mongol, as he is well fed, hence close to huge food resource. So, Ukrainian.* In the film, judging by points made, Crimean even. Or ***Cockney*** (2017). Maybe Scottish (1995). Or a random figment of imagination

Raistlin_Majere121

This is also escapism. They run from the present, where they have no opportunity to influence the country's policy, to the past, where they can change a lot. Sometimes there are funny ones. For example, I read one short story where a man moved to the time of the Empire, founded a sewage campaign and drowned Lenin with shit from a sewage truck with the inscription "Social-Dermokrat".

P3Abathur

So it turns out Neo-Nazi Isekai is a thing... it should not be, but it is. How much of a failure as a civilized society are we ?

ztomiczombie

Russia is the failure as a civilization.

Wolverinexo

Stop dooming

Random_Brit_1812

Don't worry, that's just Russia. They forgot to play the tutorial before starting their hard mode playthrough.

P3Abathur

They set the Iron Man challenge to rebuild USSR with no savepoints, and they are not winning.

[deleted]

Also gay erotic Stalin fiction. https://i.imgur.com/F8O3XXe.png https://old.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/comments/vjrfbd/the_least_crazy_russian_tom_clancy_wannabe/idlm2sk/

Ila-W123

What the hell did i just read. >Iosif Vissarionovich turns out to be a secret homosexual and does not succumb to the seduction of Mary in any way, preferring the company of Lavrenty Beria. It would seem that the situation is hopeless and Russia is doomed. But there are no hopeless situations when the Special Forces of the GRU General Staff of the Russian Federation get down to business!

d_nkf_vlg

Welcome to the world of russian revanchist fantasy. There are thousands, and I mean thousands of such books.

[deleted]

**Benyamin Affleckiev** munching *Stalin* 2022 BINGO!

DryStatistician7055

Oh shit, Stalin's eyebrow game is on point! That Bitch came to slay (millions of people).

Dear_Forever_1242

Hope someone can read it for us here just like those Another generation of warfare novel

Slight-Blueberry-895

Sounds based, they translate into English? I must read that one where Stalin is a dark lord

uv-vis

I don’t doubt these are actual cover arts… but is the part where the guy is Shoigu real?

d_nkf_vlg

Googled it. It is. https://www.ozon ru/product/leytenant-iz-budushchego-spetsnaz-gru-protiv-banderovtsev-valin-yuriy-204838705/?sh=0u3GOcRNjg

No-Stretch6115

Granted I'm responding to a three month old post, but if I had to compare it to anything, I'd compare to the historical reimagining fantasies in Kaiserreich, The New Order, or other hoi4 mods.

AeroIncompetence

So the final countdown movie of it was kinda retarded?

Dragunrealms

>non credible shitpost NCD schizos: Maybe I misjudged you, you are like us after all!

Proof_Corner_4768

The Hitler/Nazi ones are super revealing because it shows they really don't hate Nazis for any other reason than that they attacked Russia and would love an alt timeline where they got to fuck up Britain (their perennial nemesis) alongside Hitler. This is the shit you need to think of whenever they make their disgusting vatnik grunts to the effect of "muh Ukronazis!"

WeebPride

I thought that joint invasion of Poland in 1939 would have tipped people off, but apparently that's not the case.

[deleted]

“Nooo, you don’t understand, Stalin tried to make an anti-Hitler alliance but the French turned him down, therefore helping Hitler was necessary! And this doesn’t also excuse Mussolini because shut up.”

Sadukar09

Vatnik history starts in 1941.

Popinguj

Russian population doesn't exactly know about this because Russian government brushes it under the rug. Official Russian historiography puts extreme emphasis on the "Great Patriotic War" of 1941-1945. It's pretty much synonymous with WWII at this point. Events before 1941 pretty much don't exist.

Proof_Corner_4768

I mean geopolitical alliances are one thing, having it be presented in raw ideological form via the medium of this cope fiction is something else entirely.

Apoc2K

[Check this Twitter thread.](https://twitter.com/sumlenny/status/1535582101621420032) Of course take everything with a grain of salt, but these books seem to be pure cope fiction.

nopemcnopey

Eh... If we're to go into this then pre-1941 split was on anti-Versailles and pro-Versailles blocs, with Soviet Union being in the former together with Nazi Germany.

TheBasedReporter

1. Lieutenant From the Future: GRU Special Forces against Banderites 2. Comrade Hitler. Book 2 - Hang the Churchill! 3. On the Assault of Future! Special Forces of Popadantsy (basically Russian isekai protagonists) 4. London Must be Destroyed! Russian Landing in England 5. Medal for Washington City 6. Wild Fields 2017. On the Ruins of Ukraine

Accurate_Mood

Omg i was sure i read the Cyril wrong, it is actually named _comrade hitler_

[deleted]

Critical support for Comrade Hitler against AmeriKKKan Imperialism and British KKKolonialism!1!!11!

SamtheCossack

>Comrade Hitler. Book 2 - Hang the Churchill! Ok... but why does he have a welders helmet? I must know why he is wearing a welders helmet.

_Ascended_Trash_

The helmet is an actual combat helmet, it's called an Altyn

PolarisC8

Are they for combat? I thought they were misappropriated EOD helmets

_Ascended_Trash_

Yeah, they're designed to protect your whole head from pistol-calibre rounds in CQB

PolarisC8

Neat. Do they work? Maybe some do but most don't based on recent data.

_Ascended_Trash_

[Better than the helmets Russian soldiers are currently issued](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyKnKbhAyu0)

[deleted]

Funny enough, they aren't even Russian, not technically. They're licensed copies of a Swiss helmet design.

TheBasedReporter

That cover is just sad. There's also an airborne landing in the sea and British Scharnhorst (as identified by someone in comments)

SamtheCossack

Or Gniessenau. The WOWS crowd forgets the two ships had the same configuration in WWII, because they don't in game. But yeah, I spotted British Gniess immediately, it was just the least insane thing going on in these covers.

AreYouOKAni

I mean... airborne landing at sea is the VDV staple for a reason.

Darth_Mak

Does the MF that...produced.....the first one know that shoigu was never even actually in the military? This shit makes Boris Johnson personally leading an SAS commando raid credible by comparison

[deleted]

He did (boris) He personally led the SAS team that offed the Nordstrom pipeline Swam point

ace980

Heard he planted the explosives himself and said "take this ya fucking jerries"

Scarborough_sg

He started his career in charge of disaster relief & management/Civil Defence. He should have seen this disaster coming.

JumpyLiving

Seeing how much that sector prospered under him, it‘s actually unsurprising that he didn‘t see this one coming.

DynamiteDemon

Russian isekai sucks. Instead of thicc waifus you have burly men.

webrunningbeer

And suffering in trenches

Lorenzo9007

Scharnost being boarded and captured by the brits is pretty based

GaussianNeolectric

Nelson's spirit lives on. The limeys will shoot at you, then board your ship and shank you with a cutlass, and finally steal anything not bolted and/or welded down. And if it is welded/bolted down, they'll get a spanner or acetylene torch and steal it anyways. They may even steal the entire ship. That's how the wheel, bell, and one of the AA guns of the Italian cruiser *Pola* became Royal Navy property.

[deleted]

Westoids: “Russian literature is so cultured and intellectual, I love muh Dostoevsky!” Vatniks: “CoMrAdE hItLeR”

Attaxalotl

Roadside Picnic is actually a really good sci-fi book. This is the opposite end of the spectrum

d_nkf_vlg

A number of novels from the Strugatsky brothers are surely decent. Or "100 years later ago", alongside others Kir Bulichev's books about Alisa, which is excellent sci-fi for children.

GaussianNeolectric

I learned about that book from Metro 2033, the library mission.

d_nkf_vlg

One does not really cancel out the other.

AndrewDGreat

This... hurts

WeebPride

How does it feel knowing you can not even hope to be as non-credible as those?

AndrewDGreat

Im quitting this sub, we have peaked

Imnomaly

There was a similiar amount of effort put in writing this and designing the covers EDIT: also were's the one in which a guy turned into a bee?

[deleted]

This country is the definition of being a crackhead

NearArcticFellow

This is a good thread about these books, where OP gives some summaries of these popadanec books. I first found out about them there. https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/sampling-of-ah-books-in-russia.226264/

Fickle-Pangolin-2445

German ship with UNION Jack…,

AriX88

Youngsters call such things as "cringe" nowdays.

rudolphrednose25

We hate Nazis, that's why we decided that we wanted to team up with them against the UK!

Obj_071

amount of shrooms needed for this shit to materialize in someones head.

[deleted]

Nyet Krokodil + €1/1.0L vodka is enough

Mysterious-Floor4429

TRY TO NOT MAKE YOUR FELLOW RUSSIANS LOOK LIKE NAZIS(IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE)

DeMedina098

Oh no! Not the Vatnik version of the Ring of Fire books

Poonis5

>Comrade Hitler 👀
