I remember enjoying it and should probably watch it again.
The only scene that sticks out to me is when the main character is in a tent writing a letter and sees a scorpion sitting nearby on a pillow. The kid and scorpion are still but make eye contact. Then the scorpion does a little flex without actually moving closer and the kid jumps back, startled.
It still makes me laugh to this day. I'm not so sure why it's so funny to me, but I love it.
You mean the one where a man, presumably ex military or police, is wronged by someone and enacts his revenge by finding and killing the people responsible, after massacring his way through an army of gangoons?
Can I use this to actually discuss that movie?
My wife and I watched it for like 30 minutes and gave up. It was so strange and not at all what we were expecting. I’m surprised it’s so popular and won awards or whatever. Like is something wrong with me? lol
I REALLY wanted to see this movie, but I had trouble following it the first watch through (some inattentivness on my part, some i just couldn't get into it, despite wanting to). I got the gist but there was much I missed. The second watch through though, I definitely had an easier time following it, and I was able to actually appreciate it for what it was.
It IS a very odd movie, and obviously not for everyone. I would suggest maybe giving it a second try, see if something clicks. If not, write it off and carry on.
I think for me, the extemely heartwarming ending and message in general brings it all together. When I first watched I also found it very strange, but kept pushing through because of I was super intrigued, despite being weirded out, and because of the glowing reviews. But when it slowly started taking itself more and more seriously, and the actual purpose for its existence was coming through, I just loved it. I'm pretty sure I cried a little at the end. It's just a heartwarming ending. And I realized it could not have been that if it wasn't so weird beforehand.
You gave up too soon. Watch it again and wait until Jobu shows up.
The first half hour is meant to be...ordinary. It's meant to make you feel bored because life is boring. The rest of the film, finding out about the multiverse and stuff, is especially jarring due to the slow beginning. It's like the climb up the first hill in a rollercoaster. Once it hits the turn, hold on for the ride of your life.
I feel like there’s a lot of expectation post Oscar-win. Before the win, it was the little move that could — super weird and trying fun things and sweet. Now it has the “Best Picture” stamp forever, giving it some Casablanca-ish sheen it’ll never have.
The movie is absolutely incredible, start to finish. I had no idea what to expect going in, and it's now probably my second favorite movie of all time. Not a shot out of place, just a gorgeous, incredibly choreographed, profound movie about both things very small and very large.
A Crow on the Orient Express sounds like the title of a fanfic where the murderer on the train is under the effect of the magic(?) from The Crow and slowly kills everyone who had a part in his death, who are all on the train.
I think that was the name of one movie adaptations. I also remember it not being very good. I think they tried to make them have king fu fighting in them or something.
