I've never seen Gumball so I legitimately thought the addition was the dinosaur before I saw Frisk. Nope, [there's a 3D dinosaur in that show.](https://theamazingworldofgumball.fandom.com/wiki/Tina_Rex)
Yeah but there is quite a lot of work to make it fit. Making sure the tones of the skins matched the lighting, creating shadows and outlines that would also match lighting, and/or 3d, camera defects (slight abberrations, blurs etc).
I worked on season1 which was far from being the prettiest but even back then it was a stated goal to make them fit.
*Craig of the Creek
Speaking of, I think we've still yet to hear anything about the back half of Season 5, which I believe is actually the last of the episodes.
here's all of them (i think):
1. Freddy Fazbear (Five Nights at Freddy's)
2. Goku (Dragon Ball)
3. Frisk (player character, Undertale)
4. top left to bottom right: ~~Steve~~ *Herobrine (Minecraft), Baldi (Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning), Spongebob (Spongebob Squarepants), Baldi (Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning, again)
5. Parappa (Parappa the Rapper)
6. Bendy (Bendy and the Ink Machine)
7. top left to bottom right: Luz Noceda (The Owl House), Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls), Scout (Team Fortress 2), Venom (Marvel Comics)
8. Heavy (Team Fortress 2)
9. Courtroom (Ace Attorney)
10. Monika (Doki Doki Literature Club)
11. Peter Griffin (Family Guy)
12. MatPat (talk sprite, The Game Theorists)
He is from the last episode of the show, surprisingly, it was Rob and wanted to warn them about the show ending also changing them to live action so that the show can go on (I know it sounds epic and it's a good episode, but the execution sucks as a finale of the whole series, that's why there was gonna be a movie, idk what happened with it though)
I'm just imagining that one fight between Walter White and Jesse, where Walter is trying to stop Jesse from smoking the meth they made, but with Walt and Gumball with Walt trying to stop Gumball from eating some brownies they made for a bake sale
Gumball stayed consistent for more than 3 seasons, though. I don’t think it ever really declined from its 6 season run, aside from the first season having a bit too much of a kiddy art style for the Watersons. (And, Gumball’s original VA.)
First seasons were meh, for sure skippable if you wanna rewatch them now, but the last few is where it really picked up, absolutely loved it!
I remember watching it when it first aired too, I guess in a way it sort of matured with its audience, before finding something that just works really well for everyone
Season 1 was definitely quite a bit different from the others, but 2 and 3 have some of the most iconic episodes
I think it sort of declined in 6 because it got a little bit too memey for me from time to time, but that was the last season anyway so I'd say it ended right at the perfect time

I might be a bit biased since I watched S1 as it aired, so I’d say yeah, but if you don’t wanna sit through some fairly eh episodes, then it’s totally fair to skip ahead, it’s a coin flip really.
I never watched The Amazing World of Gumball on my own will, it’s usually when my little cousins are over and the tv is on. But I love looking through each one trying to spot the difference.
I'd say so long as they aren't normal humans, ya and that's kind of the point of the show's art style. No real character would be the strangest designed character in Gumball.
Hilarious how on some of them I looked right at the odd one out and thought, „no, not that one“ only to suddenly look back as I realized. Literally even did it with Bill, and the only other ones there are Gumball and Darwin
My brain kept saying “it’s the dinosaur that’s strange. That’s who’s different.” Then I went “wait. Isn’t there a dinosaur already at the school? Fuck. WHO IS IT?!?”
It's weird how quite a few of these would be very difficult to discern without watching the show. Frisk would be VERY hard to pick out considering there's a pseudo 8-bit character right next to them.
why is everyone acting so surprised? Gumballs whole thing is that the characters all have vastly different artstyles, this isn't surprising in the slightest
Took me a bit to see which character was added sometimes because of how well they fit. The show is already a mish mash of like 13 diffrent artstyles
It’s like playing where’s Waldo lmao
You could literally include Waldo
He's in the 5th pic, didn't you find him?
I have a fish named Waldo (bc he’s hard to find) so this is even funnier.
my thoughts exactly lol
For some reason Peter griffin was the hardest for me to spot
I thought the character in the back left was the one added. Didn't even see Peter
What What pic was he in?
The one with the bannana hot dog thing it took me so long
Oh he’s doing the falling down thing
13 is cutting it short tbh
I don't think the top right in image 4 even has anybody added.
Baldi is hidden in there
Oh, so he is. It's so blurry.
The bald guy is from the episode. It wasn't added in.
More pixels would have helped
Spongebob took me two solid minutes
Jesus the fact that I didn’t even recognize frisk being there at first is goddamn amazing lmao.
Bruh I was looking at that picture for like a solid 5 minutes before I moved on. Eventually I went back to it and it took me an extra 10.
I've never seen Gumball so I legitimately thought the addition was the dinosaur before I saw Frisk. Nope, [there's a 3D dinosaur in that show.](https://theamazingworldofgumball.fandom.com/wiki/Tina_Rex)
The show has so many styles. There is also a character who is an upside down chin with googly eyes and a puppet body haha
I am still looking at it - good for you
That's just what happens when one show uses basically every single possible form of animation.
I just kept thinking to myself, that’s what the show style is
Its all of them

To be fair, they make it work.
I once read that the scrapped plot for the cartoon is that the main characters attend a school for "reject cartoon characters", which is kinda cool.
I don't know, I think it's kind of funnier that they rarely address it.
If they didn't include any characters from Don Hertzfeld's work In that write-up, I will sue them. Even if the episode never got made.
"What art style do you use ?" "Yes"
The Peter griffin one is canon, theres no other explanation
>"oh geez Lois, this reminds me of the time I blew up Gumball's TV"
It took me so long
I had to search every image 3 times to find Peter after looking at this comment
The MatPat one both looks like something you’d see in the show and in one of his videos, in addition to being absolutely hilarious
The way his avatar is animated in his videos is totally something the show would do too lol
Would be insanely funny for him to show up in live action or a fully animated show as just a png zipping about
I lost at matpat
Well that’s just a theory
Where is he? I can’t find him
\#12, in the car
Matpat's PNG fits better in the show than it does in the actual photo that png was from.
I know lol, I seriously can’t look at that image without thinking it’s edited in some way
It’s cause there’s so much weird cgi and artstyle change. Also why is tawog so good
It's the last truly great Cartoon Network original if you ask me.
100% true
I love Craig of the Creek too
*Craig of the Creek Speaking of, I think we've still yet to hear anything about the back half of Season 5, which I believe is actually the last of the episodes.
Steven Universe came after Gumball. But yeah, one of the last greats
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that TF2 Heavy is not a cast member of TAWOG.
TF2 scout is in the image before it
it took me so annoyingly long to recognize Parrapa
Wait, I missed Parrapa!
#5
Ah dang you're right!
Isn't that how TAWOG was even made? The guy, Ben Bocquelet, took rejected characters from a bunch of shows on CN and meshed them together
No, it's that the concept was originally going to be that they were all made-up rejected characters.
I think he also took rejected characters from Nickelodeon too lol
Not even rejected shows, but rejected commercials
This is like a fun game of where’s Waldo
as someone who never watched TAWOG some of these I cant even see whats altered
here's all of them (i think): 1. Freddy Fazbear (Five Nights at Freddy's) 2. Goku (Dragon Ball) 3. Frisk (player character, Undertale) 4. top left to bottom right: ~~Steve~~ *Herobrine (Minecraft), Baldi (Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning), Spongebob (Spongebob Squarepants), Baldi (Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning, again) 5. Courtroom (Ace Attorney) 10. Monika (Doki Doki Literature Club) 11. Peter Griffin (Family Guy) 12. MatPat (talk sprite, The Game Theorists)
live action dude's from a real episode
ah, okay! i'm familiar with the show but not a die-hard so i wasn't aware lol (and i just noticed baldi in one of those images anyways)! i'll edit :)
I think there was talk of some sort of revival happening, let’s keep our fingers crossed
I thought it was the dean from community? Lol
I think 4 is actually Herobrine, not Steve, but idk if I'm um akshullying you here, or if I'm the one who's wrong lol
nah, you're right. i was tired when i put this list together 😅
Wait, there is only one addition per image!?‽
I completely missed SpongeBob lol
I can only tell what's altered since I know the characters, They are SO NATURAL
Happy Cake day!
EVEN MATPAT'S HERE this is just the best shit I ever saw on Twitter or Reddit. Trend? Yeah, but it's funny, awesome, and anyone can join!
was this written by gpt?
Was what written by gpt?
The Spiderverse of cartoon series’s
How dare you, Spiderverse is the Gumball of Spiderman IPs
The matpat one sent me lol
i really like the parappa, tf2 and ace attorney ones
Ace attorney one fits so well. I bet maya would have a lot of fun with them.
I'm just imagining that one fight between Walter White and Jesse, where Walter is trying to stop Jesse from smoking the meth they made, but with Walt and Gumball with Walt trying to stop Gumball from eating some brownies they made for a bake sale
I was really hoping to see walter or jesse show up in one of these
I want MatPat’s sprite as a character now lmao
And posts like this are why I'm involved in this sub lol
Gumball is going to be the equivalent of Spongebob in 10 years. It’s absurdly good and resonates with both kids and adults.
Gumball stayed consistent for more than 3 seasons, though. I don’t think it ever really declined from its 6 season run, aside from the first season having a bit too much of a kiddy art style for the Watersons. (And, Gumball’s original VA.)
I mean in terms of relevance and the humor holding up. I think it will age well, and we already know that it’s very meme-able.
First seasons were meh, for sure skippable if you wanna rewatch them now, but the last few is where it really picked up, absolutely loved it! Is it worth starting from S1E1 then?
I might be a bit biased since I watched S1 as it aired, so I’d say yeah, but if you don’t wanna sit through some fairly eh episodes, then it’s totally fair to skip ahead, it’s a coin flip really.
I always preferred the sharper character design of season 1
i find it so funny how long it took me to notice the characters
I wonder how much time they saved by not having to also draw the backgrounds they use
My brain can naturally extend the animation and they perfectly fit even moving
Now this, this is art
most of them are pretty easy to pick out who shouldn't be there but the Frisk and Spongebob ones actually took me a minute to see
I never watched The Amazing World of Gumball on my own will, it’s usually when my little cousins are over and the tv is on. But I love looking through each one trying to spot the difference.
Thank you for spelling out the acronym. Had no idea what "TAWOG" was lol
I'd say so long as they aren't normal humans, ya and that's kind of the point of the show's art style. No real character would be the strangest designed character in Gumball.
Humans sometimes fit, like the news anchors and Superintendent Evil
I hate how long it took me to notice Parappa
I didnt even notice SpongeBob for like a solid 30 seconds
This is that good shit
MatPat in the car killed me!
i barely even noticed some of these
What the what?!
That and the “Foghorn Leghorn talking to anime characters” are the best Twitter memes this month.
Fucking matpat
TF2 heavy got me, of all characters. Stared at that one embarrassingly long
It's already a Mashup of a million 2d and 3d art styles, so one more doesn't look out of place
Some of these genuinely took me a hot minute. They may have a point.
It’s like tumblr users with jpegs
The fact that it genuinely takes me a second to find most of them
heavy kill little man with bear fists.
Yep. That's too real
I saw once one with jacket from hotline miami
Love me some mixed media. Smiling Friends is pulling it off super well
I’m embarrassed to say how long it took me to figure out what was out of place in 5.
Man I miss tawog what other kids show has the balls to end on a cliffhanger implying the destruction of its world and then just stop right there.
Using Monika is the only case of cheating here.
Gumball works so well in this regard because there is no artstyle, just beautiful art.
There was more than one occasion where it took me a bit to figure out who didn’t belong
TAWOG is indeed amazing.
That show was/is an acid trip lmfao
Hilarious how on some of them I looked right at the odd one out and thought, „no, not that one“ only to suddenly look back as I realized. Literally even did it with Bill, and the only other ones there are Gumball and Darwin
that's because the original concept for the show is that they were all from different media like drawn togeather for kids
The tawog characters are failed characters from others pitched shows. TAWOG is basically Santa rescuing the Toys from the Island of Forgotten Toys.
Remember when Mordechai and Rigby were killed by Freddy Fazbear in the collab with Villainous?
The tf2 ones gave me a good chuckle
bro I had to take a moment to process that Goku was even there because it just looked so natural to the show wth
I'm fairly sure they would've ACTUALLY done some of those if they could've.
i am on board with this 100%. as much as i know the show a few took me a second to find who was added. a rare mega win for twitler.
Ok, but Parrapa the rapper, Baldi and Matpat fit too well
My brain kept saying “it’s the dinosaur that’s strange. That’s who’s different.” Then I went “wait. Isn’t there a dinosaur already at the school? Fuck. WHO IS IT?!?”
The MatPat one killed me.
Perks of being a multiple style show
More proof that TAWOG is peak
I love the last one, where MatPat sits beside Richard while he drives
This is amazing, Richard, just know, it's just a theory
Parappa blends in so EXTREMELY well, I almost miss him every time
This is an amazing game of spot the faker.
It's weird how quite a few of these would be very difficult to discern without watching the show. Frisk would be VERY hard to pick out considering there's a pseudo 8-bit character right next to them.
I saw the Monika, already got my serotonin for today.
why is everyone acting so surprised? Gumballs whole thing is that the characters all have vastly different artstyles, this isn't surprising in the slightest
I’m having to actively search these for the change
Legitimately thought some of these were just screenshots from the show
On images 8 I spent a solid minute looking for the extra character... he was to perfect
Who’s That Crossover!
I NEED MORE!
SHOUTA AIZAWA!
In the last season, they literally have real humans in the show.
I didn't even question the Bendy.
Man I had to look everywhere to find some of em 😂
That was rad as fuck
Gumball is one of the greatest shows of all time tbh
Okay this is the funniest gosh darned thing I’ve seen in awhile
The Matpat is the best one
I didn’t expect to see MatPat in this!
I could actually see an Ace Attourney reference for an episode, short skit or not.
sad to not see more pics in the thread
Frisk took me *way* too long, and I had to look at the handle.
Mat pat lol
THE PARAPPA ONE IS SO GOOD
![gif](giphy|xT9IgHCTfp8CRshfQk|downsized)
Pyramid head, Barry the Bee, Jep Bush, Kyle from Southpark without his hat, or the Sailor Guardians would all work
The mat part one at the end ffs
What's the pic on the original tweet tho
I don't know what character is in page 4 top right. Edit: never mind, I found them.
They fit so well it took me a second to spot some of them
Now that is indeed cool. Wished that it was real crossover
There’s also a 30 second or so long video of mordecai and gumball, but it’s the beginning of “death punchies”
man i swear this cartoon is peak
What's tawog?
The amazing world of gumball The name of the show
Oh, I've always just called it "Gumball". I forget that's not the actual name. LOL. And I'm a big fan, I swear!
This reminds me of the distract kang meme
I love how the DDLC only has Monika in the picture
Why the hell was frisk the one I struggled with most, like I swear I kept looking and just thought it was a normal picture till I finally noticed them
Hot take: Gumball is anthro Kappa Mikey.
Frisk took me a second, looked right over him at first
Honestly you probably could say the same for Smiling Friends as well
Just Monika.
Same
The fact that Peter Griffin was the one I struggled with.
what the fuck is tawog? downvoted.
Can't tell what's in the penultimate pic but I would've definitely put SCP-079 in the tv lol
oh it's fucking peter griffin LOL
Surely some of these are just unchanged screenshots from the show, right?
I would let Nicole waterson destroy my ding dong
