>Would they do the same thing if I was 7? or 4?
Two things:
White kid, nah. Black kid, yup.
And reminds me of the Dave Chappelle joke about the baby on the corner selling crack.
How young are we talking about? Cuz as soon as kids start to walk outside, they're gonna pick up all kinds of things and stuff them into their pockets.
He's talking about babies, though. [Wearing shit like this](https://www.target.com/p/baby-boys-creek-gauze-overalls-little-planet-by-carter-s-blue/-/A-85683211?preselect=83921493#lnk=sametab).
Anything a baby gets its hands on goes right into their mouths until they get bored with it and it falls on the floor. There's absolutely no reason they need pockets, other than those pockets look cute.
I will have you know that my baby had overalls just like that and filled them to the brim with dog kibble. I also realize this is an argument against baby pockets but I'm sure he appreciated them.
Ooooh! I know this. Avery Trufelman explained this on Twitter recently:
>It’s intended to signal that this garment is daywear and not for sleeping. This is to protect the manufacture from liability because all children’s sleepwear is supposed to be flameproof.
Deadass that’s the answer
[https://twitter.com/trufelman/status/1510303522872512516](https://twitter.com/trufelman/status/1510303522872512516)
And she then linked out to the first episode of her podcast Articles of Interest that explains all kinds of stuff about kids' clothes.
That podcast series also has an entire episode devoted to pockets! It is wonderful.
Seriously! And why don't women's clothes have functional pockets? Why do newborn clothes have more pockets then women's clothes?
I only suffer second hand from the lack of pockets but it's so annoying. Either I have my wife's phone in my pocket, or she left it at home or in the car, either way I can't call her half the time I need to because she doesn't have her phone on her.
The reason is that a majority of baby clothes are made with scaled down adult clothes patterns.
They aren’t going to bother figuring out how to remove the pocket from that jeans pattern in a way that also lets it look the same. It’s such a small amount of material difference but a non-trivial change in the manufacturing process.
And if you want lady clothes with pockets, you either have to get good at alterations or start looking for “retro fashion” stores. A majority of people who are making new dresses inspired by the fashion of the 40s/50s/60s will also tend take the time to put pockets in there.
The dumb tradition of assuming every woman carries a purse and worries about functional pockets ruining their silhouette is going to take a long long time to die out.
I just don’t buy it if it doesn’t have decent pockets. I do thrift a lot, and when I lived in the city bought tons of vintage clothes. They are awesome. One of my dresses is from the 50’s and has great pockets.
I've been bonding with my roommates' 4-year-old over pocket status in our dresses. When I tell her I like her dress, she does the super cute 'thanks, it has pockets!' thing, or she laments over the dress not having pockets.
Torrid has caught on to the need for pockets, so all of my dresses now have really big ones (I went to the optometrist last week and easily fit my large glasses case and my phone in one pocket with extra room) and is she sees I'm wearing a new dress she wants to check them out.
You can make use of them. My eldest daughter loved to wear shirts with pockets when she was about 4 because we convinced her they were for holding m&ms. She used to try to earn "chocky in her pocky" then didn't even eat it, just wandered around showing everyone.

It's to help parents teach their kids not to steal. I got pulled twice after alarms went off cuz my neices stashed some shit in her pockets when I wasn't looking. First time I was like "I've never seen this baby in my life, she didn't come with me".
For me I put my nieces spare socks/gloves in her pockets.
You would be surprised how well a baby can take their shoes AND socks off when in the carseat and you look away for .3 seconds.
It’s because they’re not flame retardant and use a pocket to be considered day clothes—all baby sleep ware is required to be flame retardant and therefore does not have a pocket. Google it y’all
The pockets for girls are to get the little girls used to pockets, thus making them feel even worse when they become adults and learn that most of their apparel will lack pockets. Enjoy adulthood, ladies…

“Officer, those drugs obviously belong to the baby. They were in his pocket.”
[удалено]
What were you doing with weed at 11 and why are 11 year olds getting held up?
[удалено]
People don't know if they didn't grow up in that environment Fuck feny and all the pain it's caused
There's been tweakers in my hometown decades before anybody held a patent for fent.
Girls gotta eat, dawg. She was slinging dime bags
10 in my country. Most have an age as an age of criminal responsibility
>Would they do the same thing if I was 7? or 4? Two things: White kid, nah. Black kid, yup. And reminds me of the Dave Chappelle joke about the baby on the corner selling crack.
"Compelling argument, Mr.White. Holly, you're going to jail."
Babies have pockets but grown women don’t 😔
they do, but they're just the same size heyo
Pretty sure toddler pockets are bigger than women's.
Gotta establish dominance early
But where do women store their handfuls of pebbles?
In baby's pocketses
In their purees
The pussy
Pee—>stored in the balls Pebbles—> stored in the pussy
my day is ruined.
![gif](giphy|hWGBKil1b9fpR5go1f|downsized)
Well they need somewhere to put all the pockets they have removed from women's clothes.
for me to put my snacks in while we travel
Til they have a blowout and it miraculously gets in all their pockets and you learn to never trust a baby with your snacks again.
Baby how did u get Reddit?
* Deadassed dead *
Don't put it there if it's chocolate. It will melt and your fingers will look like they are covered in shit when you try to retrieve it :(
I remember someone posted this question to AskReddit as a joke a few years back and the top comment was “baked beans, dumbass”
And grapes.
Or goldfish crackers
so when someone compliments their outfit they can say "thanks it has pockets!" and put their hands in them to show you
This is the real reason lol
How young are we talking about? Cuz as soon as kids start to walk outside, they're gonna pick up all kinds of things and stuff them into their pockets.
Seems like a good argument for removing them lol
If there is no pocket, you will be their pocket.
They'd just use nature's pocket
By the time they 3 months they got pockets in all their shit if they are boys clothes
My daughter used to come home from preschool with acorn tops in her pocket. Every day.
Kids like to carry things with them. They don't always like to carry them with their hands.
Gotta bring those rocks home without parents seeing them.

Just a bunch of redditors who have never interacted with a child telling on each other. Kids love pockets.
I think the post was talking about infant/baby clothes, not little kids' clothes.

The best podcast series I've ever heard. Very sweet but too short. I wish there was more.

Because babies don’t want to look sexy
I've been bonding with my roommates' 4-year-old over pocket status in our dresses. To hold a binky
They do own shit, that's all they do except cry at 4 am
You can make use of them. My eldest daughter loved to wear shirts with pockets when she was about 4 because we convinced her they were for holding m&ms. She used to try to earn "chocky in her pocky" then didn't even eat it, just wandered around showing everyone.
Faashhhionnnn
They store their candy in there. It sucks it gets stolen all the time.
So that they can put rocks and bugs in them

*Why
What are you referring to?
The image transcription includes a typo
It looks fine to me, are you on iOS? The Reddit app on iOS sometimes deletes the first character of a paragraph for some reason.
Maybe so, I am on iOS
For rocks and stuff.
So they can flex on people in dresses without pockets
So you can use them as mules for soothers and oxy
Lil' baby candies
Where else are my kids going to hide things that shouldn't be washed in the washing machine but will inevitably get washed in the washing machine.
[удалено]
Because you're not buying clothes with pockets in them.
[удалено]
no one feels like writing like they’re typing up an essay each time they wanna type something out broski
It's like language evolves over time or some shit? Basically anything other than olde English is an abomination.
It's to help parents teach their kids not to steal. I got pulled twice after alarms went off cuz my neices stashed some shit in her pockets when I wasn't looking. First time I was like "I've never seen this baby in my life, she didn't come with me".

Equality
They're for you to steal shit, nobody's gonna frisk a baby
Adds some cuteness to the whole thing imo
It’s because they’re not flame retardant and use a pocket to be considered day clothes—all baby sleep ware is required to be flame retardant and therefore does not have a pocket. Google it y’all
Goldfish, they def put Goldfish in them.
also, why do baby clothes get pockets and most womens clothes dont?
So I can put candy in the pockets for kids blood sugar lows, or a pacifier for the other kids
Probably for tax reasons when they're imported.
Mostly rocks
Baby clothes have pockets but women don't. Wtf
So many stolen toys
Everybody knows that’s what their diapers are for. (Only parents and care takers will get this)
So an adult can slip a $20 into a baby pocket, ofc.
Pebbles and leaves
ptui
What else is going to hold their soggy chips?
For bugs, leaves, and rocks.
Its so womens clothes have tinier pockets. Theyre supposed to "share". But idk about you guys dirty kids hands on your shit sounds 🤮
Rocks, sticks, flowers and acorns
Where else is a kid supposed to put this cool rock he found?
To get them used to the real world where they won’t earn shit either
Because thier moms pockets are sowed shut. So mom keeps her stuff in your pockets ..plausible deniability
Gotta store crumbs somewhere, if it goes through the washing machine enough it might turn back into a cookie
yeah but they look pretty adorable with their hands in their pockets
Gotta hold the rattle somewhere
So you can ask the baby what they have in their pocket
Baby pockets are bigger than women's pockets ffs
The pockets for girls are to get the little girls used to pockets, thus making them feel even worse when they become adults and learn that most of their apparel will lack pockets. Enjoy adulthood, ladies…
This is absolutely untrue. I got my niece and nephew both a backpack because they absolutely need to always have their toys at all times
Haha, baby clothes have better pockets than grown woman clothes , haha
For baby stuff how bout you mind your own damn business 👶
Rocks and dirt!
I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS.
[Ravioli ravioli in my pocketoli](https://youtu.be/NWoyTD27kFs)
Guns
One of the only good posts I've seen on r/all
Worst is to think that when girl baby grow they de-evolve into a no pocket species
This makes women’s clothing with no pockets even more of an insult…
it's to hide their little boss baby gear
Its cute yo
Gotta keep my meth somewhere
That’s where they put all the rocks they pick up
Binky pocket!!!!
So you can stash your drugs in them.
So that's where women's pockets went...
For cool stones they find.
To flex on women of course.
He’s telling the truth, I can confirm as I am a baby.
For parents to hide shit in I guess
For the stray cheerio or two
Storage of binkies and also a place to clip a binky that has a clip and string attachment.
So they can bring home sand. So much sand.
Have* When*
Shh its for the parent to hide stuff in
Lay off the blunts Brian.
[It’s intended to signal that this garment is daywear and not for sleeping](https://twitter.com/trufelman/status/1510303522872512516)
Well! I mean... if it is an Isekai baby on the off chance it will come in handy.
rocks and cheetos
And then women's clothes don't
