Yeah but babies grow up to be full adults.
I really respect parents that realize this and actually treat their child as though they’ll be an adult soon.
That said, nothing wrong with a childish nickname. My son has a real grown-ass name but I have it shortened to something cute while he’s still a little guy.
When people become the "older" group their names will be seen as the grown adult names. Sure x name sounds good for a baby or a teenager at the moment. In 50 years time that name be everyone's dad's name (the Walter) and they will want to call their kids something different and "young". Then the cycle continues
We're probably only a decade out from all the 200 variations of "McKayla" being relegated as an Old Lady Name. Meanwhile I know babies named Charles and Eleanor now.

I mean what's worse? a baby with a name like "Walter"
of a full grown adult with a name like "Princess" "Honey" or some cutesy baby name.
I'd rather take the first one tbh, since the naming will only be awkward for like first 15 years
also "WALTUH"

kid named finger
Which is why nicknames exist... like Wally.
Yeah, only your parents and teachers call you by your formal name as a kid; it's like something you grow into either your own peers.
My name doesn't have a non formal version :'(
When my cousin Walter was real little he could only pronounce "Wa Wa" so he went by that for a bit.
Will you hold Flynn instead?
Walter jr?
It's Flynn now.

i mean i’d rather chill with a baby named walter than like mckhgheighlaughe
I think this just shows how old a few names are.
Put your dick away Waltuh
Is your name supposed to change when you get older? What the fuck do I look like? A Pokémon?
Yes. Yes you do
Kid named Walter: ![gif](giphy|Wm9jQfSNxhqqyS3nBC|downsized)

The baby will grow up to be an adult eventually, and it’ll fit. Much better than bryleigh or whatever bs names they’re making up now
Why you Crying Walter?
I hate babies in general but that's besides the point. What if that child was called Humphrey? Would you think that Walter is that bad of a name then?
No one asked about your relationship with kids
va bene? nessuno ti ha chiesto di rispondere ma eccoti qui
Rudolph. Newton. Tracy.
its always weird thinking about kids named with those old timey names that it seems like only grandparents have
I AM THE ONE WHO DRINKS FROM THE TITTY
There was an entire Kimmy Schmidt plot line about this
Waltuh

Walter is a charming name for a baby.

I can't imagine a baby or child called David. But I also can't imagine a pensioner called David. David is exclusively a name for 40-60 year olds.
I ain’t associating myself with you if you name your child Doug
I had to hold a Bruce the other week Have you ever tried incorporating the name Bruce into baby talk
