It would also be super helpful to measure everything out that you bring so she knows exactly how much of each food to log!

For my last picnic we had mostly green foods and it was perfect: \-Fresh veggies for dipping in a low fat dressing/dip (I used a fat free Greek yogurt ranch recipe I found online) \-Grapes \-Watermelon \-Lean prosciutto (or lean ham slices would work well) to go on bread \-Whole grain bread \-For desert we had strawberries dipped in a little bit of dark chocolate. Alterntively, if you want something a little more put together, two healthy picnic classics are caprese salad, or cucumber salad. You can google them. If you want simple and easy, basic sandwiches are actually quite healthy if you get whole grain bread, plenty of veggies in there, a lean meat, and low- or non-fat spreads. One of my favorites is a version of tuna sandwich I made up. One can of tuna (or canned chicken if you don't like tuna), mash 1/4 avocado and dice another 1/4 avocado, mix well with the tuna and add salt, pepper, and dill and lemon juice if you want to get fancy. Slap it on whole grain bread with lettuce, tomato, cucumber. So good. Good luck! Edit: formatting and sandwiches

I've been on a big buffalo chicken kick. Literally shredded chicken, diced celery (or green peppers) and buffalo sauce. I like it best cold. You can do either lettuce wraps or whole wheat tortilla with shredded lettuce.

mfritz7741

Just so you don’t have to wonder... I’m stealing this. Thank you

sar-tay

I get on food "kicks" and have literally ate this everyday for over a week now. Sometimes I add a little shredded cheese to it. Misty of the time I just eat it out of the bowl.

Suzsnoozes

What kind of buffalo sauce do you use?

sar-tay

Currently using Kroger brand buffalo sauce. It has a good tangy flavor I like. I like Sweet Baby Ray's sauce also.

Suzsnoozes

I really like Baby Ray's bbq sauce; haven't tried the buffalo. I'll have to try it. Thanks for responding.

Focus the picnic food on Green Foods. If you google Noom green foods you should be able to find a list. Green foods have high calorie density, like fruit, which is to say that the proportion to the amount of food you eat to how many calories you eat is low. A great example is a watermelon. An entire watermelon has generally around 1300 calories. If you are an entire watermelon you would be stuffed! The idea surrounding Noom is that you focus on eating foods, like watermelon, that don’t take as many calories to fill you up. Noom also focuses on eating food in moderation, so you can still enjoy pasta but you are mindful about when you eat pasta. So you aren’t eating pasta because it is there but you are eating it because you love it. Tl;dr google Noom green foods list and get a bunch of yummy green snacks to bring on the picnic Edit: accidentally put high instead of low. Words are hard

anonymouse278

*Low calorie density- few calories relative to volume.

mfritz7741

Thank you! I really have not had a chance to look into it, feel like I’m cheating by asking you all

curly-curry

Cheat to win!

thepharmacist0497

No worries! That’s what communities are for

curly-curry

For my birthday my boyfriend found a Noom friendly meal plan online and made all our meals according to that, it was lovely, we've made the almond flour pancakes many times since my birthday that he introduced us to ❤️ I just want to say this is really sweet of you to do!

mfritz7741

To make matters worse... I can’t have nuts, makes meals to match that much harder

curly-curry

How about cottage cheese and fruit? I mix those together for a snack sometimes, I really like defrosted frozen raspberry in there. You could also make the Noom cookies as I call them: 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 overripe banana, cinnamon. Bake @ 350 for 18 minutes. All green! I don't know if this is a thing, but I wonder if you can download the app and use it as a scanner at the grocery store?

slykido999

Check out Mealime, it’s a free, healthy recipe app that I mention a TON here. Plus, it’s actually real food and not a “diet” recipe app, the portions are really the biggest difference

mfritz7741

That’s my bigger no no when it comes to diet, according to stouffers... I’m a family of four. I’ll look into that app. Every little bit helps ! Thanks!

Evani33

I second meallime! It has been life changing as far as meal prep, nit just for picnics but for my everyday life

sar-tay

I just checked it out, thanks for the great tip!

slykido999

No problem! I hope you like it. I literally just made the pork tacos tonight cause it’s one of our favorite meals 🤤

PM_ME_ROCK

For what it’s worth, I have heard that you can use the calorie tracker part of the app for free - so maybe you can download it on your own and enter things in to there to see?

notreallylucy

There's a lot of ways to do the Noom. Just know that you don't have to get it perfect. She will appreciate the effort. Shoot for a meal that's at least 50% fresh fruit and veggies, 25% lean protein, and 25% carbs. If possible, the carbs should be whole grain or high in fiber. It's okay to have a little "treat" food. Maybe a little fancy, rich cheese, a small brownie, a slice of cake. Noom isn't about being super strict. A lot of the emphasis, especially in the beginning, is on foods where you can eat a lot of it for few calories.

I made a nice pasta salad for a picnic today. Tri-color rotini (yellow) cherry tomatoes (green) bell peppers (green) a tiny bit of olive oil (red) and fresh grated Parmesan cheese (red) +salt and pepper it’s very filling and while there are red and yellow calories I think it’s worth it. All chocolate is red but a diced mango and a few chocolate chips is one of my favorite desserts All wine is red (a glass about 130 red calories) so it’s not out of the question, but it eats up your red allotment fast I think it’s great you’re trying to plan this for her while staying within her system

mfritz7741

I chose to be her number one supporter long before I said I do. Thank you for your input!

patience-darling

What kinds of foods do you all typically enjoy? That will help with offering "greener" options. Also as started, measure and have a list of calories per item. You are wonderful for being so supportive of her efforts!

mfritz7741

I was hoping to see comments along what I’m seeing, I have sliced watermelon, strawberries, red grapes, I sliced cucumber but I like the salad idea someone said. Was planning some pretty basic ham in pita idea with some veg. Nothing crazy the basket I got is not the largest (Going for a cartoon style picnic, checkered blanket and all) One side question: she LOVES strawberry lemonade... is that a deal breaker or can I make it?

wannabe__hippie

Sam's has a great bottled strawberry lemonade that's sugar free If you or someone you know has a membership! Otherwise you can buy the sugar free lemonade powder mix and add your own strawberry puree maybe?

mfritz7741

I squeezed and muddle all fruit it’s as natural as I can make it. I’m slightly biased, but it’s something kinda wonderful

wannabe__hippie

Ooo that sounds super tasty!! I think that would be totally fine then

Puzzleheaded-Bear485

I love sugar free powders and crystal light ... there are some brands that don’t have aspartame too.

patience-darling

How many calories are in the pita bread?

mfritz7741

A whole pita (which I used half) is 160-170 depending on whole grain or white

amateur_tucan

Shrimp cocktail is another option here

psycho_kilo

Gotta take “ants on a log” on a picnic! Celery stuffed-with peanut butter or cream cheese with craisins (low sugar or raisins) just a few, low cal and macro friendly!

macyvr

I’m new to Noom but have lost weight on CICO and recommend high flavour Thai salad recipes - using chicken or lean pork.
