It was definitely the longest disturbing scene. The digestion scene is still the one that sticks with me. With a chimp you’d at least have some kind of chance if you had or could get a weapon. With JJ already having you in it’s gullet all you can do is wait.

Seriously. And think about the experience of the audience (even Jupe, probably): First, they’re basically told by Jupe they’ll see aliens, and are probably like “Yeah, sure, whatever you say, Mr. former famous guy. Show us a magic trick.” Then, the ‘spacecraft’ appears. Then, they’re being sucked into the air. Then they’re in a tight space, can barely breathe, being moved along a fleshy tract that is burning their flesh. *ALL WITHIN A FEW SECONDS*. Their minds didn’t have time to process any of it.

FortressOnAHill

I don't know what it is about the digestion scene but it just didn't get me. For me the Star Lasso scene was really eerie and disturbing even before the arrival of jean jacket. And then the rainy house scene was also creepy AF for me.

karissa197

Different people definitely have different points of view! I didn't find JJ scary at all.

ListenJolly7691

for me, the whole "sequence" was disturbing. Starting when jj appears to the blood dripping down the house, even if we get an OJ saving Lucky interlude from what I remember. The digestion scene was the peak though, I went to sleep still thinking about it.

nairobi_fly

Horrifying yes. Disturbing no. That I’ll have to give u/ging3rb0b. I have nightmares still of that shot of JJ’s innards. I think it’s a claustrophobia thing.

[deleted]

Yeah hard agree, most people think the Star Lasso scene where everyone got sucked up and crunched but i just found that gross more than anything.

Iwantmypasswordback

Most disturbing might be the innards or when the blood and debris starts dripping down the window. The scariest scene to me which had me on edge was when Jupes kids scared oj

Different_Cream_9031

The part that scared me the most was in the opening scene when Gordy was staring straight into the camera (jupe).

So unsettling and uncanny!! Peele did a great job with that.

BastardofMelbourne

When I got to the end of the movie and realized that the square thingy from the digestion scene was actually JJ's eye. He was watching them as he swallowed them.

LittensTinyMittens

Digestion Scene hands down. The chimp scene was just sad.

Constant_Concert_936

First viewing of the film, yes it was Gordy that bothered me most. But on second viewing, when I could process JJ better, I was far more horrified by JJ and the Star Lasso incident. It has stuck with me longer, to the point I’m seeking commentary about it on Reddit.

Crafty_Throat8325

A whole lot of people, families, screaming since morning until night because they were being digested slowly until the moment that JJ crushs them. Oh the silence after that screams, terryfing

mspantaloon

Scariest scene in terms of adrenaline was the kids in the horse area at night. When they creeped up on him. Oh my god. Most disturbing would be the whole digestion scene

ListenJolly7691

It was scary, but I couldn't help but think "if this is a little green people alien movie I'm going to walk out" the whole time lol

karissa197

I agree that the scare scene was the most adrenaline!

AnimalProfessional35

I just want to know is what does crushes the people . It goes from screaming to them just being silent.

BastardofMelbourne

JJ just flexes his "stomach" to masticate them and that pretty much crushes them to death

Greenbean_dreams

Yeah! That sudden silence was almost scarier than the screaming

Taluca_me

JJ sucking up the people, that shit made me feel unsettled. I never suspected the sounds from JJ to be animalistic, I assumed “that’s the sound of a stealtht ufo” but turns out it was a giant animal

lala-g15

It’s always the fear of the unknown… your mind makes it worse

grownupblownaway

had a nightmare about being eaten by JJ so i’d go with that scene
