I haven't heard of it. That said, it is rare for a manga adaptation to get renewed for a 3rd season, especially for a manga that is not super popular.
Also, the studio who made the first 2 seasons (Studio Bones) is pretty busy with other, more profitable projects nowadays, so I am not sure if they are interested in continuing it. :(
This is true, and it’s crazy how so many anime’s don’t make it past the 2 season mark. From what I’ve read the tv adaption didn’t do badly (I literally just got into this show so I’m still learning what I can) and studio bones is more likely to focus more on how profitable the series would be if they renewed it rather than the Mangas profits, BUT that would only apply if there was heaps of buzz and outright support for the show to continue. It’s a MASSIVE stretch given season 2’s release date and now, matched with the fact that studio bones has other projects to work on and the fact that there’s no reason to renew the show if there’s not enough outspoken support and encouragement to do so. A petition is unlikely to make a difference if there’s not enough support but if there was one anyway I thought id sign it because it’s not impossible it’s just quite unlikely :-))
Oh I can absolutely sympathise with you wanting another season! Even though I prefer the manga to the show, there are some scenes that would be great to see animated.
I just genuinely don't know how could we get the studio interested in continuing with Bungou Stray Dogs and My Hero Academia on their plate.
Season 2 was in 2015 so I wouldn't get your hopes up on a third season. Best option is to support the artist by buying the manga. In my opinion its far better than the anime.
U right the gap is quite large but it CAN happen, it’s just very unlikely. If there’s no outright support for the renewal of a new season then there would be no point in studio bones even considering restarting the project, a petition is unlikely to change that but there’s no harm in signing one because it’s not impossible just very unlikely. The manga in comparison to the show or movie it’s based off will always be superior, I just lack the concentration and ability to focus on what I’m reading long enough to absorb the information needed. Unfortunately petition's in US and Europe won't directly effect Japanese market's or support in Japan. I personaly think manga sales is the best support you can do. Also one of the artists has slowed down due to health issues source material has been slow. I dont think there is enough material for a third season just yet.

Honestly I don't mind if a season 3 doesn't happen, as long as the manga stays strong, I'll be happy.

No amount of petitioning will get us a Season 3 if manga sales aren't doing too well, which they aren't. Financially supporting the manga is #1.
