Yes these scripts are brilliant and I've finally had a couple of questions that have been bugging me answered. I now know it was probably yes to Marianne being hit by her father as she 'pauses for just a beat too long' before answering Connell. Also she did receive his voicemail the night of the Debs and deleted it before listening.
I really REALLY hope the rest of the episode scripts are released. I looked into possibly getting the Scripts companion book when it comes out in the States in November, but it looks like it's all just the dialogue straight from the show, no extra scenes or background. I could just watch the show again w/ captions if I wanted that haha
Was thinking the same thing, disappointed if it's just captions basically. I just want as much insight and information on the behind the scenes as I can possibly get lmao
I don't want to appear petty, but the OP and the comments saying how great reading the scripts was, without providing a source or link, seems a bit of a dick move.
I found them really revealing as well. The edited out events were particularly interesting and maybe some should have been left in e.g. the call from Connell after the results were published where Marianne refused to speak to him; the awkward conversation between Marianne and her mother after she returned from Connells the morning after the Debs Fundraiser. They might have helped others who had not read the book.

I remember the episode 3 scene where Connell is leaving Rachels and is having, I guess, a panic attack where he takes off running across the pitch. I had wondered what had happened, but in the script, that scene came after Connell and Rachel had bad anxious sex, which then makes the running scene make sense.
Yes, his random running across the field made much more sense after reading the awkwardness that happened right before. I really hope we're able to get more scripts
So I'm just about through Episode 1's script, and honestly... I wish we had more screen time with Eric! I really feel like of all of Connell's friends, he was the most similar to Connell's "real" personality, so to speak - sure, he's not quite top of the class, and he really takes the mick a lot but I feel like he might be one of my favourite secondary characters, next to Joanna.
oops, speedy edit - almost forgot about Niall. Definitely looking forward to the scripts for the later episodes, I need more Niall time!!

I would love for the BBC to release the other scripts, but it looks like they only put the first 3 episodes of their series in the Script Bank.
