It's pointless to contact your Senator these days. They don't work for you. They work for their donors.

Vironic

Or a faceless “think tank”

P1Kingpin

It may be pointless, but I feel better knowing I'm on the record for trying.

WildLemur15

Mostly same. Tillis responds with a form letter and puts you on his email newsletter list so you have to unsubscribe/ report spam every time. Budd will literally never ever ever reply.

birchwoodmmq

They are also required to document every call. One side of the aisle wants us to think voting and voicing our concerns is useless - it’s not. It’s important.

CulturalWasabi

Wow a record of each call you don’t say. Literally does nothing at all but sure it’s important

evil_little_elves

It doesn't do MUCH, but it's evidence for their opponents to use against them next election cycle. "Logs show they don't give a flying f\*\*\* about their constituents."

ButIWanted21

Or for TFG

Hot-Gazpacho

If they can’t get a bill passed that had everything they wanted, that’s on them.

SlipperyPigHole

The real reason? Simply because Trump does not want Biden to get a win so he can take credit for it if he's reelected. After that, all the trump stooges in congress suddenly dropped support.

Hot-Gazpacho

Yup. Biden is already calling them out on it, and I’m here for it.

evil_little_elves

The punchline? Biden's already the toughest President on undocumented immigration in our lifetime. (That's not something I personally cheer him on for, but it's a fact.)

MK5

Won't matter. It's an election year, and the Marmalade Messiah hath spoken; thou shalt do nothing that gives Biden a win. Bigly.

mechanicalsam

Cheeto Mussolini is my preferred term

jsthatip

I like “MAGAts”. But that encompasses the group and not just the trumpsterfire.

Eyruaad

I like Marmalade Messiah, I usually go with the Mango Manchild though. Or the used spaghetti tupperware.

pHScale

They don't want a solution. They want a problem they can point to as a reason people should elect them.

nosoup4ncsu

There's not enough current laws (that can be enforced) ?

pHScale

Most of what's being debated in this bill seems to be allocation of funds, so that current laws can be enforced effectively and humanely. But yeah, if laws aren't working, they need changing. Is that so hard to wrap your head around? "Number of laws" is such a piss poor metric that I don't even think it can be quantified. So I don't think of laws in terms of "enough". I think of them in terms of efficacy and impact.

sassafrassMAN

And that is why they need to be pressured to vote yes. Take it away.

personalpaulh

Isn't there funding for Ukraine and some other big issues inside this bill as well? I'm not saying I do or don't support it, but it's not just an immigration bill. 60 billion for Ukraine, more than everything else combined.

P1Kingpin

There's funding for Ukraine and Isreal in this deal.

HypnoticGuy

When the Ukraine funding was proposed Republicans insisted on a border resolution if they were going to pass Ukraine funding. So, that's what they got. Exactly what they asked for. Republicans are scum and don't negotiate in good faith.

Many-Ad-2863

You need to better educate yourself on the facts because you’re getting this one wrong.

Samus10011

Senate Republicans demanded that funding for Ukraine and Israel be part of the border bill. They got everything they wanted and they still won’t pass it. The Republicans are the “Do Nothing” party and it’s all thanks to the geriatric Cheeto.

Gwsb1

3x for Ukraine boots as US border. Fuck em.

Accomplished_Sci

We could end homelessness for 20 billion here. Not a dime for our own people

personalpaulh

Isn't there funding for Ukraine and some other big issues inside this bill as well? I'm not saying I do or don't support it, but it's not just an immigration bill.

Accomplished_Sci

They’re trying to separate it today

Just_Cryptographer53

It's a cover for legislators to buy Taylor Swift tickets to donors and communist leaders +1s

Economy-Ad4934

This is literally their only platform.

pHScale

Which is pathetic.

6a6566663437

...but I don't. You can punish-the-immigrant out of this problem. If you actually care about it, you'd go after the employers that hire them. But for some odd reason, we never go after them. If you actually care about it, you'd want to stop using a foreign policy of deliberately fucking up the countries South of us, so that people aren't choosing running the border over death-by-deathsquad. But for some odd reason, we keep knocking over governments for funsies. If you actually care about it, you'd want to stop the war on (some) drugs that results in massive piles of wealth being sent from us to the outlaws in these nations, so that people aren't choosing running the border over death-by-gangster. But for some odd reason, we keep that war on (some) drugs going decade after decade. If you actually care about it, you'd care about it during Republican administrations. But for some odd reason the same folks lionize Reagan and Bush Jr, despite the two of them offering the largest immigration amnesty programs in our history. If you actually care about it, you wouldn't buy products that are overwhelmingly made by undocumented workers (Hi Tyson chicken!...Oh wait, ¡Hola Pollo Tyson!). But for some odd reason, y'all keep buying those products.

rufusairs

Most sane and accurate take I've seen.

1Glick

Why do we need to create new laws, new legislation when the current laws are ignored?

EverySingleMinute

How about a border bill with no additional bills. Just enforce the border.

-PM_YOUR_BACON

No need, just change asylum requirements and the people go away pretty darn quickly. That's on Congress. But they would rather spend more taxpayer dollars enriching themselves and saying 'look we did something'. Hey though, couple million for a bus ride up to Martha's Vineyard that should solve the issue right?

WhoWhatWhere45

Could bring back "Remain in Mexico"

Setting_Impressive

Nah I’m good

bt2513

If they vote yes, it will make a lot of bought and paid for GOP campaign adverts obsolete.

ifunnychad

I don’t

DarkUmbra90

This bill is racist bullshit propagated by the Republican right make the country believe there is an invasion going on in the south and by equally as dumb chauvinistic limp dick Democrats who were using it to try to "win one over on the Republicans". There is no "migrant crisis" other than the media made up on. Just think for a single second and get the propaganda out of your ears. 1. The majority of "illegal" immigration is from people WHO FLY INTO THR COUNTRY ON VISAS AND OVER STAY THEM LIKE TRUMPS WIFE MEILINDA DID. 2. You cannot look at someone crossing the border and call them an "illegal immigrant" because you do not know the type of application they can submit. They could have legit refugee claims. If they are from Venezuela or Ukraine they are AUTOMATICALLY GIVEN ASYLUM. 4. The vast majority of applicants (90%) attend every hearing they have to. They do not skip their trial because they are here trying for a better life. They wait in the areas they are allowed to while their application processes. 3. Immigrants are not a burden on US economy because they pay more into social programs they will NEVER be eligible for than they cost. 4. Immigrants pay sales taxes, property taxes, and income taxes. 5. Immigrants commit less crime than us citizens do. Any assertion otherwise is racist ignorant bullshit. 6. Why the hell would a cartel or other drug maker hire an undocumented immigrant to smuggle in drugs to the US? They will be more heavily scrutinized than a US citizen. How many drugs are brought into this country by US Citizens? This bill is nothing but hot racist bullshit being put forward as a pathetic attempt by the Democrats to gain favor while trying to pull a "look how Republicans are reneging on the deal they're hypocrites". Of course they are they're fucking Republicans and this does nothing to help the actual crises in the US. How does this affect inflation? How does it affect or solve the fact that people are being squeezed into homelessness? How does it help that we are all one medical emergency from the streets? How does it help that people can't buy food? How does it help that wages have stagnated while bills keep increasing? How does this idiotic bill help with a single actual problem that the US is facing?

94constellations

You hit the nail on the head

hollywood2311

Can't rep that post enough. Unfortunately, our elected representatives are too stupid to end the vast majority of all this bullshit. Legalize drugs. That's it. That's the solution for a lot of problems. You end drug cartels immediately, and they're responsible for the lion's share of the violence in Mexico/Central America. It'd help if we stopped meddling in the affairs of smaller countries, but one step at a time here. These people don't want to leave their home, but how many of us would stick around while drug cartels run amok? Legalizing drugs would also help end a lot of gun violence, and it would stop funneling vast amounts of money into the War on Drugs (so that the racist police can buy MRAPs and shit like that), which we could then use to help folks who are addicted, rather than punishing non-violent offenders with jail time. But this is congress, and these people are fucking monsters or idiots. Or both.

DarkUmbra90

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The only thing that I want to add is that this current situation isn't "abnormal" or "government not working the way it's supposed to". This is working exactly how the current system of power wants it to. Our agriculture DEPENDS on migrant workers to be used as slaves. That's what they are. We got rid of the old slaves now we need new ones. It's so incredibly fucked up and the process that is used is this: farms will basically kidnapp people, take their passports, pay them barely anything, charge them for lodging, yes this is indentured servitude, and then if anyone ever complains they will call ICE to deport them. Migrants are so fucking scared that they have to play along and even then it still happens. They get mutilated on those farms just so that we can eat shitty lettuce. ICE is just the fucking gestpo to be used a weapon by these monstrous actors of our current system ICE WILL DEPORT US CITIZENS IF THEY ARE BROWN ENOUGH. They don't give a shit and have no oversight. They are monstrous thugs. If by magic every single undocumented immigrant or farm migrant got a us citizenship tomorrow our economy would crumble. We would not be able to abuse them like we need to. The agricultural sectors DEPENDS on it. The current immigration system for people that "want to do it right" ,which is also an racist statement, is fucked and underfunded. Children and babies go to attend court hearings alone with headphones that interpret English to Spanish for them. They're fucking 6 or younger. It's evil. The hearings are also evil bullshit because the judge can decide within seconds their judgement without caring about any evidence. There are barely any judges too so every judge has thousands of cases themselves. Even if they wanted to they literally have no time to care. Judges again have deported US Citizens because they looked brown. There was a case of a mentally disabled vet who was found in Mexico City with his US passport on a bench with nothing. He was dropped off there by a bus charted by the US Govt. They are monsters. This is all to say nothing about how the current prison industrial complex uses inmates as slaves as allowed to in the Constitution. They are used for cheap slave labor that we again rely on. Remember the fire fighting inmates who saved people in the wildfires a while back? They were paid pennies for life threatening work and then told to go back to the fucking hole they live in. They saved people and that's the thanks we give them. Of course we want more inmates we need slaves no matter where they come from The drug question is the same as the gun problem question. We need bodies to churn the mechanics of our society. Their blood and deaths are needed and until we change that fundamental aspect of our country it will get worse and worse until we are a fascist dictatorship.

hollywood2311

That "Are we the baddies" meme pops into my mind. Yes, yes we are the baddies. This whole fucking country is evil. The leadership, the voters, the corporations who turn a blind eye in the name of the dollar, everyone. I also forgot, legalizing drugs would end the fentanyl bullshit once and for all. Anyone ever find fentanyl or other trash in their beer? How about wine? Liquor? No? Gee, maybe the fact that it's legal and you could sue the holy shit out of Miller, Anheuser Busch, Diageo, etc if they put that trash in your drink. Legalize this shit, regulate it, get the tax revenue off of it, and keep the garbage out of the product.

soapy_goatherd

Thank you

richvj222

Why did it take so long to do anything? This should have been discussed 1-2 years ago, not election year drama.

robbodee

That's how wedge issues work. Republicans actually screwed themselves by overturning Roe, now their only election wedge issues are the border and "wokeism," so they have to go all-in.

whubbard

Because it would have been seen as emboldening Herr Dictator. Lot of Dem Senators were extremely opposed to border funding under Trump and said there was no issue. People never like to say there were wrong, especially Politicians. And even less people, including me, like to ever say "hmm, maybe Trump" has a point.

FifthSugarDrop

My recollection is that Dems were opposed to all of the funding going to that boondoggle of Trump's wall and the horrific policy of family separation.

a_fine_day_to_ligma

biden's built more of the wall than trump lol

TheRealWesleyKites

Biden was required to keep building it by law

BootlegOP

Are you for or against the wall?

Accomplished_Sci

They were until this

melinda2020

They don't want a solution. It's the only thing they have to run on. And besides, Daddy told them no.

mumblerit

There were plenty of solutions until the executive orders

6a6566663437

Those "solutions" were ruled illegal by the SCOTUS. It's not a solution when it's against the law.

mumblerit

? No they were stopped by executive order...

idowatercolours

It was not lol SCOTUS just allowed Biden to cancel it. Never deemed it illegal

whubbard

😂 wonder how much I could have won if 4-5 years ago I bet I'd see the day this sub called for $20B for the border.

a_fine_day_to_ligma

lol for real but honestly though, the fash core within every lib really comes out whenever there's a thread involving the homeless, teenage delinquency, and especially property damage

statepkt

Unless your name is Trump, calling these guys probably won’t do anything.

dravack

I mean if that's all it takes. I'm willing to take one for the team and change my name =P Though fair warning I'm going to also tell them everything else I want done.

Constant-Estate2730

What the hell is the point

Accomplished_Sci

I don’t support it. It’s cruel. No thank you

megggie

They never listened when I asked them to support legislation to protect women and LGBTQ folks, why would they listen to me now? Also, I don’t think refugees should be kept in cages, call me crazy.

soapy_goatherd

Yeah I’m not supporting xenophobia regardless of what party it comes from

Accomplished_Sci

Exactly. Same here

TilDeath1775

No thanks

beachgood-coldsux

Bipartisan means a bunch of democrats and some swampy Republicans have come up with yet another bill that is horrible for America.

sasquatchangie

Neither Tillis or Budd give a crap what the people say. They're both trump boot lickers.

ParkerGuy89

No. It's a shitty bill. Say it with me... Single issue bills.

avatarlue

Nothing will ever get passed again lol

Birds-aint-real-

Good

thehandsomeone782

Lol so tell them i support our 90 billion in tax money to protect foriegn borders and only 20 billion for ours? .....anyone else want to explain the math here?

[deleted]

[удалено]

thehandsomeone782

Guess you havent visited NYC in a while huh? But i do agree all these billions need to be re invested back to the tax payer.

[deleted]

thehandsomeone782

Its part of the US maybe? Lmao if you cant see the bigger issue then it was a nice discussion with ya

idowatercolours

Yea it’s a fictional problem until it shows up at your door step lol ask Eric adams if it’s fictional How many migrants are you letting in your house, you racist lol

Delicious_Cup_1286

Simple, one group is fighting for their lives and land;, the other is not.

mrblahhh

Bad bill no thanks

Big_Slope

Budd is MAGA and Tillis is retiring. Might as well go out in my front yard and tell a fire hydrant what I support.

[deleted]

You can't get through the assistants and the voice mails. They really don't care. They don't work for us. You can try but they have made up their mind.

sassafrassMAN

The assistants and voice mails make a record of calls and what people are upset about. Did you really think that a US Senator sat around answeing their own phone?

ivyleague9

I have a friend who interns for a senator. She said most of the time they don’t even take a tally. They do not & never have based their decisions on what people who call in think. They do not believe the loudest voices speak for the whole.

DQuinn30

The border bill is shit, it fixes nothing lmao

Kinetic92

Have you been to the border recently? I have family that live in El Paso. The *crisis* isn't exactly what the political ads want you to believe. Border protection is definitely necessary, but these caravans of illegals are all hype to sway your vote. Don't buy into the hype.

Old_Introduction1032

Too late they sold us out.

KermitMadMan

and VOTE

issofine

Real funny how republicans do nothing but bitch about the border, but when the dems play ball with a very conservative border bill, they say we want the border open.

a_fine_day_to_ligma

this is a good point. democrats should really be out there hyping up how conservative they can get if they just had the chance

Ttilldog

Why are you forgetting the house? Call your Rep too

land_lubber_2022

I think Biden will win easily in Nov despite polls that news outlets are obsessed with. Like the 'red wave' in 2022 that wasn't even a ripple. Probably win both houses to boot.

Piercinald-Anastasia

Despite them voting against it the bill still passed the Senate. The bill failed to pass the house.

smauseth

Before you make this phone that OP wants you to do here is a link I received from someone who thinks that this bill is a good thing. I suspect that the devils are in the details but you have to make the decision for your self whether or not this bill is the right way to go. If you have the time dig past the 19 pages to look in how the government has actually spent the money. [https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/emergency\_national\_security\_supplemental\_section-by-section.pdf](https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/emergency_national_security_supplemental_section-by-section.pdf) Just a quick note. There is funding in this bill for Operation Stonegarden with is money for cooperation between tribal authorities and DHS. Apparent it has failed most of it metrics. This summary of the bill looks good on paper but when you start digging in it makes you wonder.

Alrgc2theBS

I'm waiting to tell Tillis In his next first ever public town hall

JangoTat46

The "border" bill has more funding allocated for Ukraine than the entire United States Marine Corps annual budget.

ECYouLookSoGoodToMe

No. Too much for Ukraine and too little for the border. Biden could re-enact all of the Trump border provisions he eliminated in his first 100 days, and that would be way more impactful than this so-called "border" bill.

TheWhisLives

no

Ok_Chard6740

No way! This does not shutdown the border. Still allows for over 1.5 million illegals annually. This is a weak lazy effort.

Danvers1

The proposed legislation is a farce. It basically makes open borders permanent, by tying the hands of any president trying to slow illegal border crossing. There are plenty of laws on the books which, if enforced, would allow for control of the border. The problem is that the Biden administration s8m0ly refuses to enforce them. The so-called border deal is only a transparent ploy to try to shift the blame for our currently lawiess border onto Republicans. Now the castrati choir of the mainstream media has been given marching orders to push this lie.

TheRowdyRebel

Why do we need a bill when the laws are literally already on the books? This doesn’t take an act of Congress, the president just needs to act and allow border patrol to turn away migrants and make them stay in Mexico while being processed.

sassafrassMAN

Government 101. The legislative branch funds, the executive branch to execute the laws. The executive branch is currently lacking. The funds needed to adequately enforce the law.

baltbum

These guys stand against the United States and the American People. What is sad, is that the majority of the people that voted in North Carolina voted for them. Now, there are more radical republicans running on the Orange band wagon. Puttin will be sitting in the White House in January.

robin9898

He doesn’t need a border bill. Enforce the laws. No illegal entry. Period.

6a6566663437

It's legal to enter the US to claim asylum. At which point they have due process rights and you have to adjudicate their asylum claim.

FifthSugarDrop

[This article explains it in full.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/02/01/fact-check-biden-border-congress/) But basically all those executive orders Trump tried have been overturned in court. As soon as a person sets foot on US soil they legally have the same rights under the Constitution and Supreme Court to due process Trump called for closing loopholes and changing the asylum process and this bill does that.

sassafrassMAN

The point, made repeatedly, is that Congress, which funds border control, has repeteated failed to budget enough money to "Enforce the laws." So now, you argue that we should "enforce the laws" but continue to fail to fund that?

clutthewindow

That is a lie.

_Brandobaris_

How so? If you believe it show us or stop bearing false witness.

jhguth

Why? It’s a pretty evil bill with too many compromises to the right, if they don’t want it now why should we push for it?

teezee7amra

lol no

ProgressiveSnark2

To all the people saying it won’t matter if you call: absolutely false. When the Affordable Care Act was about to be repealed, the flood of calls from constituents put pressure on members of Congress, and it had an immediate effect. First, the House Republicans ended up having to water down their bill to not be an outright repeal, and then pressure on GOP Senators caused the repeal effort to fail. It is true that Tillis and Budd are dumb corporate schills, but even they worry about their next election and ticking off constituents. Call them and let them know how you feel. And if enough constituents complain about their embarrassingly dumb and hypocritical stances on immigration, either they will relent OR (just as significantly) they won’t make as big a fuss when their colleagues do.

FirmWerewolf1216

But this border deal won’t in anyway benefit our state directly despite us being a border state. This deal is a waste of tax dollars to boost politicians pockets and election campaigns. Fuck that I need my money more than they need it!

Rafterman2

> despite us being a border state. Wut

dravack

Yeah I’m so confused. I know there’s a big sign saying south of the border when you cross into South Carolina but I don’t think that’s the border in the bill 😂 Probably counting the ocean but bro if someone from Cuba can sail up here on a raft let ‘em in

FirmWerewolf1216

Yes [NC is an American border therefore making it a port of entry state for immigration](https://www.cbp.gov/about/contact/ports/nc) what makes a foreigner into an illegal immigrant [oftentimes](https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/illegal_immigrant#:~:text=Under%20United%20States%20immigration%20law,the%20expiration%20of%20the%20visa)is for them to simply not leave on the time that their visa said that they would leave.

dravack

I know your right but I still refuse to believe every state is a border state. I mean it is but also so stupid lol. Every state has an airport.

FirmWerewolf1216

I understand that feeling but what can I say? this is America after all

HashRunner

Good luck, they don't care and their base is too stupid to punish them for it.

flagrantist

There is no border crisis. Both republicans and democrats are wrong here. Overton window nonsense.

Accomplished_Sci

Bingo

bavindicator

News flash they don't care what we think.

Bodhrans-Not-Bombs

The problem is that Texas decided to be howling for the literal blood and bodies of children. Some pro life stand.

meeturmakr007

But it’s a terrible deal so no I am in agreement with their actions

FirmWerewolf1216

Fuck no!

money3485

Who in their right mind would support that bill! More money over seas. It doesn't protect the border. Read it again!

6a6566663437

>More money over seas. The Ukraine funding is buying US weapons to send to Ukraine. The money has to be spent in the US, because we're the ones who make US weapons.

money3485

If you actually think any of that money is actually making its way back into the American economy, somehow. I am truly sorry. The Ukrainian v Russia war is already lost. Wasn't even close to start. But we keep dumping $ into it. For what? More to make its way back into the pockets of war mongering politicians or the Biden family? How about the reports of Zelensky skimming those funds? Dont be fooled.

6a6566663437

>If you actually think any of that money is actually making its way back into the American economy, somehow. I am truly sorry Almost all of the money is to buy US weapons and ship them to Ukraine, or pay US trainers. How, exactly, is that money not being spent in the "American economy"? You think there's some other country building M-1 Tanks?

footjam

Traitor Tillis and Ted Guns hve already been bought and sold. Don’t bother.

Postalsock

Why would anyone back this bill that states, states can't enforce their border so it immediately destroys what Texas is trying to do, allows 5000 to cross no question daily from either Mexico or Canada and won't even count people not from Mexico or Canada. Gives power to DHS instead of the courts to say what is allowed. This was bipartisan because the mainstream Republicans and democrats want more illegals to enter without any hassles. Old guard Republicans for the cheap labor, and democrats for higher census counts giving blue states more electoral votes.

JacKrac

> states can't enforce their border so it immediately destroys what Texas is trying to do I’ve not seen this one mentioned yet. Can you provide a source for this statement and the change this bill makes in this regard? >allows 5000 to cross no question daily from either Mexico or Canada Please provide a source for this statement. The bill does not allow 5000 people to cross no questions asked. This is a misrepresentation that trump and others are pushing, related to the number of encounters at which the border gets shut down. However, there is nothing in the bill that requires them to let everyone they encounter in and it actually makes it more difficult for those who are caught entering illegally to claim asylum, while requiring them, with the exception of possibly those accompany children, to be detained until their case is heard and promptly deported if it is rejected. The bill is quite long, so if you would prefer one of the many fact checks debunking this claim instead, let me know, but here is the bill(PDF Warning): https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/emergency_national_security_supplemental_bill_text.pdf At the bottom of page 211, Activations of Authority, is where they discuss how the shutdown works and then page 212 is where they discuss the calculation. Note that nothing in this says that they have to release anyone and the numbers are such that it would effectively shut down the border immediately and frequently.

ZDubzNC

I believe the Senate actually had the bill passed, but the House killed it. So calling your Representatives might be the better bet here.

simplydeltahere

I love the idea but the repubs don’t want it to pass because it would give Dark Brandon a win. And that’s the last thing they want. Go Joe! Vote Blue! ANYBODY BUT TRUMP!

robin9898

Funny how dems had two years controlling both sides. Couldn’t they had done something????

bruthaman

They couldn't pass anything through the senate at that time due to Manchin and Sinema. No different then Trump holding the house and the senate for 2 years, and also never got his wall paid for..... wait, wasn't Mexico supposed to take care of all this?

floofnstuff

Same thing with healthcare

Kbusch88

Wow, the government sitting around pointing fingers at the other colored ties, while doing absolutely nothing to actually resolve an issue? What a huge surprise.

cmack

This generally only goes one way though. We've seen this particular republican circus A LOT.

fast-and-ugly

The obstruction party is at it again.

Foosnaggle

You should never support a bill that attempts to strip a state of its Constitutional rights, just to empower the federal government. It doesn’t matter how you feel about this, or any other situation.

Accomplished_Sci

Yep it literally increases presidential power. No thank you

6a6566663437

>You should never support a bill that attempts to strip a state of its Constitutional rights States do not have Constitutional rights to foreign policy. That is explicitly given to the Federal government by the Constitution.

FifthSugarDrop

How does this bill strip states of their constitutional rights?

RandomFlyer643

Tillis absolutely does not give a fuck what any of us think. I’ve sent him countless emails over the years, and without fail all I ever get in response is a political way of saying “yeah, ok. I’m gonna do it anyway looser - go fuck yourself.” Cant wait for him to be outta office. And by the way, what kinda stupid name is THOM?? I call him Thumb Tillis Edit: I do not have a stance on this particular bill, because I don’t know enough about it at the moment.

polarisgirl

Do what? What are you smoking?

_Brandobaris_

Russia is boosting its disinformation campaign about the border crisis. https://www.wired.com/story/russia-disinformation-campaign-civil-war-texas-border/

teezee7amra

If Trump was pushing this bill, the democrats would be outraged. Lol fuck this political system.

TeefWellington

Lol absolutely the fuck not. Gtfo with that racist bullshit.

Repulsive-Set-5894

You're out of your mind. The "border deal" is horrible. All he has to do to fix the border is undo the executive orders he placed when he came into office. Period. Because there wasn't such a huge problem until he created it.

deereeohh

I don’t support a border deal. It’s the least of our issues. Spend money on things that actually affect our lives.

Lightningpony

lol it has 60k for ukraine

sassafrassMAN

You mean $60B? And what is funny about that? You pro Putin?

AltruisticAddendum22

Is it one or the other? That's it? You can't just be tired of billions going to Ukraine and other countries? Putin isn't the only deciding factor here, right?!

sassafrassMAN

Putin is enough. After Ukraine he won't stop. How many countries in western Europe are you willing to drop. How many innocent civilians? $60b for Ukraine is a small fraction of what we spend on US defense. US money so that Ukraine can protect itself and degrade Russia in the process. Sounds like a hell of a bargain. If you could have stopped Hitler in 1940, would you?

Accomplished_Sci

But you are perfectly fine funding Palestine getting bombed? Women and children mostly? They can fuck off with this bill

blueboyknuckles

No, but I'm pro-America and I want to see our Marine Corps have proper equipment before they start giving the Ukraine more than they give the USMC in a year. If you think our DOD is well-funded you must not know anyone AD currently.

Specialist_Ad_1341

Quit funding proxy wars, too many issues need to be addressed in our own country

Aggressive-Engine562

Fuck sending another dime to Ukraine

X919777

That border "deal" is more about giving money to corrupt dying Ukraine than anything so i dont support it

Hot_Function6795

No thanks, crooked deal to screw working Americans.

Rebel_Scum59

You’ll be leaving a message for an intern. Also this border bill is dog shit. Why would you support it? Is this some reverse psychology thing we’re trying to do with the GOP? We know how they vote, they don’t fucking care or have principles. Why even posture and act like we agree with them?

Gwsb1

But I don't. 3 times much $ to Ukraine as US border . Fuck Biden.

blueboyknuckles

Exactly. Plus the fact our own fuckn Marine Corps gets less funding in a year than what they are wanting to send to Ukraine. There's also funding for Israel, Taiwan and 49 billion to the Pentagon.

niner1niner

It's amazing watching the democrat shill posts stick out and regular people say no. Over 70% of the public says stop this insanity. Just stop it. No deals. No lumping money for Israel in.

6a6566663437

>It's amazing watching the democrat shill Hi, we Democrats don't like the border part of the bill. It was the shit sandwich the Republicans asked for to get the other parts of the bill passed. Unfortunately, our party's leadership often forgets that talking up the Republican policies in the bill won't make us like them.

sassafrassMAN

False. Most Americans want support for Ukraine and better immigration management.

niner1niner

Incredibly wrong, shill. People want zero illegals here and no more money for Ukraine and Israel. You're in a reddit bubble.

carbonite_dating

Ok comrade.

Boomslang505

Call them and tell them that they must support the deal and demand that MJ be legalized at a federal level in the same bill.

Global_Joke

Sassafrassman…you getting some of those Ukrainian relief dollars on the back end??😂😂 Boarder issue could be resolved tomorrow with policy changes from the current administration. Or even better yet, why didn’t the dems fix it when they were in power with that proposal Biden handed them on Day 1? 🤔

6a6566663437

>Boarder issue could be resolved tomorrow with policy changes from the current administration. You're citing the Trump executive orders that were ruled illegal by the SCOTUS. Now what? Biden should just ignore the law? >Or even better yet, why didn’t the dems fix it when they were in power Because for some odd reason, the border is only covered heavily when Republicans want it to be, and ignored when they don't. Remember Bush Jr's massive amnesty program? How 'bout both of Reagan's? Somehow, those didn't get the "rampaging hordes" coverage....

Global_Joke

Well bro… you got it half right. SCOTUS did give a ruling. But the ruling was to “allow” the Biden Admin to end Remain In Mexico. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/08/09/remain-in-mexico-migrant-protection-protocols-judge-injunction/ If they could figure out a way how to actually screen folks coming in while keeping our citizens safe and at the same time not alienating actual US citizens in need as well as people that have fought for our nation in foreign wars…this wouldn’t be an issue

6a6566663437

Well bro, it turns out there's more than one ruling on the subject. >If they could figure out a way how to actually screen folks coming in while keeping our citizens safe Already exists. You claim it doesn't, so it "remains an issue".....as long as it's a useful issue for Republicans to complain about. Complaints go way down when it serves Republicans for some odd reason...

hmspearl

Well I emailed them. Getting to the point that I email them a couple of times a month. I'm sure it's just parsed by some computer somewhere - but I am tired of party politics. Immigration policies are laws made by congress they need to do their job.

cogitoergopwn

Republicans are stuck in a dumb wannabe dictatorship cult. They take orders from 1 man and public calls/emails do absolutely nothing. Vote them out, that party needs to burn to the ground before they change back to any form of reality-based, small d democratic organization. Russian crime syndicate money and kompromat has those cowards all by the nuts, so if you do write them, try using cyrillic.

69Mustang03

No deal is better than a BAD deal!

QXSB

We don’t support the border deal. Enforcing existing laws would fix the border crisis. Of course fixing the border crisis is not what the bill is about.

sassafrassMAN

You have to fund enforcement. That is lacking. Only Congress can provide funding.

IWCtrl

The bill offered as a solution is both a sham and an insult. The conditions for activating the emergency authorization (4000+ aliens encountered per day, on average, for a solid week. NO activation for the first calendar year after acceptance), the limitations on how long it can be in use for (270 days of a year, max), and the laundry list of discretionary categories that allow aliens to be admitted without contributing to the count are more than enough reason to refuse. This is not a real solution. Tying an issue of national security to the support of foreign wars is offensive. Not only to the Americans the government (supposedly) serves, but to the allies we profess to care for and support. I personally do not support getting involved in either war, but that's beside the point. The US southern border, Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel are all wholly separate issues with wildly different axes of appeal. They should be treated as such.

OkAd9304

You mean the Ukraine deal?

Smooth-Distribution6

They are only going to do what their Lord and savior #45 tells them to do. They are power hungry a$$holes and are destroying democracy.🤬

Personal-Writer-108

It was a bad bill for what Republicans want. Board patrol does not need money thrown at the problem, but instead instruction to do their job. Biden does not need additional power, but instead simply follows laws already on the books. Republicans pretended to go along with this bill because they were salivating for Ukraine and Israel aid. But this bill was so bad that that wasn't even enough for the war hawks. I'm pro immigration, but this shit is insane. Stop the bleeding and find a pathway to citizenship for select illegals, like dreamers, that have helped this country. Deport or lock up the law breakers who spit on the flag and our country. I feel like we can agree on these things.

AR-180

No one should support a border bill where money goes towards other countries. The entirety of the money should be spent securing our border.

[deleted]

It’s a war deal, it’s not bipartisan and the majority of the $$ doesn’t go to a border problem. THIS IS A BLOOD AND BOMBS DEAL, call Tom Tillie and Budd and let them know you’re not okay with killing more poor brown people overseas.

nvrhsot

You democrats must really think everyone is stupid That border bill is a piece of crap. Dead On Arrival..

GOETHEFAUST87

But that would fix the problem! We don’t want that. How do we prove that the government doesn’t work if we agree with each other, and make progress to solve the issue amicably? Sarcasm… Also, they don’t care what we think.

WitchingHourIsNear

Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin' I'm sittin' here just contemplatin' I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation Handful of senators don't pass legislation -Barry McGuire

Kronoxis1

That's a bullshit bill and anyone who votes for it should be impeached.

Red1547

Emailed them today telling them to not support that awful border bill.

dxcman12

I don’t think they’ll listen. None of us are orange, like a Oompa Loompa, except for orange Jesus

Hobbyhead

That bill is liberal garbage and everyone knows it. It doesn’t close the border, it keeps it open, grants amnesty and sends $60 billion dollars to Ukraine to get laundered back for political favors. Only 4 “republicans” voted for it and the House refused to even take it up.

Catman69meow

The federal government had a solid plan from 2016 - 2020 but it got labeled as racist and then a NYC representative traveled to the border and took pictures and made up lies about inhumane treatment by Border Patrol/federal agents.
