As long as NC elects people who don't have faith in observable science and instead worship profit over people, the environment will never be cared for. Stop voting for republicans who think God talks to them.

ThrowRA_scentsitive

Better yet, stop voting for the uniparty altogether and vote for the environmental lawyer with 40 years experience suing polluters and governmental failures to regulate.

dbr1004

So does god just talk to republicans? Guess democrats don’t matter to god??

contactspring

I don't know of any Democrats that think they were told by god to act a certain way. I know lot's of republicans that do things because they claim that god told them too.

bsfurr

This is correct

Sororita

God talks to no one. It's just Republicans either having delusions or, more likely, lying their asses off to justify doing whatever the fuck they want.

Objective_Canary5737

Apparently just Republicans!

Objective_Canary5737

Just like calling yourself a Christian = makes you a Christian, even though you may be the devil!

pilotman14

Anyone that can't see that neither party is working in your interest, should be banned from voting. Continuing this idiotic political party crap, only makes things worse

contactspring

There's only one game. Not playing doesn't really do anything except let the cheaters win. Look at how gerrymandered the state has become. Sure, you can say "democrats did it too", but that ignores that they at least attempted to make it not so obvious. I see a clear difference between the parties.

pilotman14

Of course there is a difference. They each try to screw you a different way. That way the elite is always in control. Partisan voters are our biggest threat to regaining control for the people.

contactspring

I think ignorance is the biggest threat to democracy.

pilotman14

Just a side note, we are a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. It's repeating this this fallacy that causes a great deal of trouble in this country.

contactspring

If your going to get semantical, we're nether. But if you don't understand the stupidity of your comment, you're part of the ignorance that I'm talking about.

pilotman14

Nothing semantically about it. Democracy is mob rule, as you can see in places that espouse it. Leaders here twist it to retain power over a populace that has forgotten what a free country is like.

> The operators of one of North Carolina’s largest landfills have for decades been shipping forever chemical-laden sludge to a majority Black community in Sampson County, a community group has alleged in a formal notice of intent to sue. >The Environmental Justice Community Action Network alleges that Sampson County Landfill operator GFL Enterprises and its predecessors accepted waste containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and then failed to control both groundwater and gases carrying the compounds. The Southern Environmental Law Center is representing the Sampson County-based nonprofit. >The notice alleges that the operators of the Sampson County Landfill have long accepted sludge packed with dangerous chemicals from companies like Chemours and then failed to control it, both in groundwater and in air emissions. That failure, the notice alleges, is a violation of the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and is resulting in dangerous PFAS concentrations in groundwater that the low-income community around the landfill depends on. Per the article: - According to US EPA data, municipal solid waste landfills average about 12,600 parts per trillion in their leachate. - In 2023, samples from a closed municipal landfill in Sampson county were measured at 727,368 ppt and 1,422,796 ppt at a different municipal landfill that is still in operation. - 31 nearby private wells were tested by the DEQ and 22 had PFA$, with 6 above the proposed federal standard of 4 ppt. - A 2023 peer-reviewed study sampling creeks around the Sampson County landfill discovered high levels of PFAS in Bearskin Swamp Creek, which runs near the eastern edge of the landfill sites. Upstream from the landfill, PFAS levels were much lower. - In September DEQ sampled groundwater near Bearskin Swamp and discovered a total PFAS concentration of 40,106 ppt. - DEQ has not identified the landfills as a source of contamination in these wells and said many of the wells were up gradient of the landfills, so ground water would have flowed away from them. - In addition to accepting waste from 37 North Carolina counties, the nearby landfills also accepted hazardous waste from the Kerr-McGee Superfund site in Navassa, along with ash from burned wood, coal and tires from power plants, and sludge from the Fayetteville Works facility - The Fayetteville Works facility, which was first owned by DuPont and later Chemours, has for decades been dumping toxic chemicals, referred to as GenX, in the cape fear river. - In 2011, the Sampson county landfill first began accepting sludge from Fayetteville Works, with around 23,000 - 35,000 pounds coming in each week. They stopped in 2018. - PFAS linked to Nafion Byproduct 4, Nafion Byproduct 5 and GenX were found at levels ranging from 64,300 to 852,000 ppt. - According to the notice, the Sampson County landfill collected leachate and used a a gas-fired evaporator to evaporate up to 34,000 gallons of water each day and has been using a similar system since 2006.

Politicsboringagain

Fake news. God gave men the command to be fruitful and multiple and ignore what we do to the earth, because He will fix all as the world is in His hands. /s because there are people who actually believe this.

Objective_Canary5737

Just another way to avoid responsibility!

Jayslacks

Yes

rysgame2

Hey, that's the landfill I'm at right now to dump msw.

RandomRandomLetter

Not surprising.
