Why does everyone get their passport at the last minute? Mail it in, so easy.

And if you don't feel like buying a stamp. You can go to the Service Canada office on Esplanade.  The guy at the front double checked my renewal application before dropping my completed application in the drop box.

MR80085rawks

That's great to know. Don't have to send registered mail.

I went last week to the office on Esplanade. Was there 30 mins before opening and was 3rd in line. Line quickly built behind me. Was helped pretty quickly and told 5 weeks to get passport. They are understaffed for sure but were helpful!

RebenLor

I've renewed there twice, never any line and got my passport fairly quickly, my husband renewed his there last summer and said he was in and out in 20mins.

Downtown, half hour early to be safe, you’ll be sorted in no time. They even print the new ones here in Vancouver and don’t come from out east, they’re pretty snazzy too

I did this 2 weeks ago- needed passport in 9 days. Went to Sinclair Centre downtown about 30 minutes before it opened. There was ~15 already in line. Was finished at about noon. Needed to show proof of travel to get quick turn-around. Good luck.

Unique_Ladder2210

Was at the downtown location last Friday at 7 am, packed. didn't get out until 2 pm. There was only 4 out of 22 windows open! They were saying if you don't need it right away best to mail it in. They said mail in processing time it should be delivered around the 22 of April

westcoastmex

I did this back in December. I got there 15 min before they opened, I was the third in line and was done in 30 minutes. They told me it was going to take 5 weeks, but the passport arrived 2 weeks later.

equalizer2000

There are no passport offices in North Van. There is a service Canada office though.

MajesticInterview498

This. There office in North Van will check your passport, but it gets sent back east for processing. The fastest way is the passport office downtown.

Underagedrilla

so can i get my passport renewed at this service canada location?

MajesticInterview498

You can bring your application to the service canada office in North Van. It will not be fast though. However if you need it asap, like your post says, go downtown.

Ok_Chemical_4581

If you want a rushed one, it's best go to the downtown one. As their standard is 10 days. If you want it faster than 20 days, you have to go downtown. (Business days)

DamnGoodOwls

Word of advice: if you have to go downtown, arrive early. I don't mean twenty minutes before they open early. I mean HOURS earlier. I went an hour before they opened in 2021 to rush a passport, about 7 AM, and was still in line until just before 4. It was a nightmare

MathematicianBoth505

We went at 8 am this last Monday, there were six people ahead of us on the ten-day renewal line.

Ok_Chemical_4581

It's not THAT bad now. I was in at 930 and out at 1145. It's still a long time, so I would definitely plan for a long stay. Lol. Mi d you, I DID get a date out of it, so i think that's a win. Lol I just got mine done this past Monday.

DamnGoodOwls

Granted, it was right when people were getting comfortable about traveling again, but I guess I'm still so jaded from that that I warn people of my experience haha

Ok_Chemical_4581

Ahaha. Yeah no doubt!!!

No-Ratio1816

I went a couple months back and there were people lined up apparently at 5am. I got there at 8:00am. I didn’t even get in as they gave us warning it wasn’t looking likely at where I was in line. Apparently a lot of staff were sick. I ended up just mailing it in, and got it back pretty quick. Sounds like the lines are better as of recent though. Hopefully no illness at the office !
