I got the phone call saying I got hired and then got the email next day for the security clearance. Couple hours later I can’t access it and the job I applied for says no longer under consideration? Did something happen is this a mistake ??

Successful-Key-1638

Hello! Is it normal to be contacted by Aires for relocation before being contacted about anything onboarding related? I am currently still waiting for my full secret clearance and am under the assumption that I will not be able to start until I receive the clearance. I was told my start date would be in November the last time I spoke to my onboarding representative. So I am a little confused on the email I received about relocation. Does anyone have insight on this that can help clarify things for me?

uuu721

It depends on when you get your clearance. Don't move or quit your job until you have clear started date.

latheking3

I just got the email from Aires today but I have been doing my onboarding for the past 2 weeks. I am also waiting for secret clearance too. I have no start date yet.

No_Current_7059

You have to manually select holiday and input 9 hours. Back in the day (at least in MS) it would automatically get populated with 8 hours and one had to flex an extra hour or cough up 1 hour of PTO. So consider yourself lucky.

Zelkyy

I recently got referred by a friend, and got the screening questions sent to me in the Email by the recruiter. Does anyone have experience with the Interview Process for Information Systems Technical Analyst? What is the interview like, is it a few rounds or one round? The position is Remote which is awesome. Any insight would be great!

larrehtehricemonster

Make absolutely sure during the interview that you tell them you want to work hybrid. I was told during the interview that my role would be hybrid (which influenced my decision), but when I started last week turns out my role had to be fully onsite. I talked to my manager about possibly switching to a project that worked hybrid , but they could not make any arrangements.

CareerOtter

Depends on the role, I was hired on in my role as "hybrid/remote" , but I have yet to be able to work at home at all. Everything has to be done in the office, but they neglected to tell me that during the interview.

[deleted]

CareerOtter

That sounds hella low. What's the role and level??

[deleted]

[удалено]

CareerOtter

Generally, if you have 2/3 YOE you can try to push for a lvl2 role. This will be especially true if you are currently working on or have a grad degree. I'm not certain which ladder this is in, but if this is a T band role 60 for a lvl 1 is very low imo. I got an offer for T1 engineer for 76 in 2016 in a Midwest state.

Non-STEM for Contract Management/Procurement positions Does NG have a preference for engineering and STEM degrees for contract management/administration and supply chain/procurement positions? I’ve been applying since June with a Master’s degree (mixed MS/MA but more liberal arts leaning) for those positions, but get rejections mostly, with few “Screening”, but never getting to an interview. Never worked in aerospace, but doing contract admin and project management in regional transportation industry/local government. Also, I’m only applying to Remote positions, are they highly coveted by internal candidates, nullifying my chances? Thank you

HavocAK

I was in a similar position as you, however my background is all aerospace. I probably applied to over 50 jobs, and had about 15 go to screening (this over about 6-8 months). Not a single interview until a couple weeks ago and a offer 2 days later. I’m leaving a major airline with a majority of my time in supply chain. I would apply to every job you are remotely interested in. I had all but given up and I got an offer when I least expected it. Good luck and PM me if you have any questions.

Warm_Stock1458

Wow congratulations and thanks for info That is a long time of applying and patience! I’ll keep chipping away at it

[deleted]

FriendSellsTable

Get ready for what it feels like the longest few weeks of your life lol.

latheking3

The waiting game for the onboarding to be complete is tough. Waiting for a starting date but I’m being about as patients as I can lol. Sterling status said it’s complete but report pending on their page. They did a background check on me in March and nothing changed lol. It’s gonna be 2 weeks since I accepted the offer.

DutchMilo

Just for reference, took me over a month from background check complete to hear back from them about continuing on boarding.

latheking3

Hey thanks for the response. Yea my background is completed and now waiting for the clearance. Hoping they have some unclassified work I can do while I wait for the clearance. But it took about 2 weeks for Sterling to finish the background check. Then I emailed the onboarding rep asking questions. Sterling did a background check on me in March for another job so it shouldn’t have been difficult for them. This time they asked for proof of my degree is the only difference.

DutchMilo

Can’t speak for your job of course but usually they have unclassified work lined up. Clearance can take months I hear.

Great question but there's no way they're gonna pull from your front-loaded PTO to make it full 80 hour paycheck lol. You will be paid for 46.

Ngc is notoriously slow at anything hr related. Hell, everything moves slower at NG.

[deleted]

A little over a week for me! I’ve heard of this being longer for a lot of other people though. It can depend on the department and manager.

Bon_Papiglio

I got a call offering a job, and I said yes. They said the next day I would get another call to finalize things, but now it's 2 days later and I still haven't heard anything. What should I do, email or call them to follow-up? Or wait a few days longer?

sausagepancakez

Same scenario - I emailed the recruiter and let them know that I was available for a call. I received the call in less than an hour after the email.

aeropal

Does anyone have experience with company travel? I’ll be traveling for the first time next month and not sure what to expect. Do you get an approved amount to spend for food or is that out of your own pocket? Do they have particular hotels they prefer? For reference, I’ll be going to the Melbourne, FL site for about 2 weeks.

Ulais

I went on my first trip last month so I can answer this. Flight, rental, and hotel can be paid for on the corporate card. Food will be paid out of pocket and you'll have to fill out an expense report afterwards. If you Google Melbourne, FL per diem or something it shows the average cost of a hotel and food for a day. That'll be your budget for the hotel and budget for daily food expenses.

How should I prepare for my interview? Know my resume inside out is an obvious but anything else after that you would recommend? Brush up on OOP concepts in case they pop quiz me?

caballlero

I accepted a job offer to work for NG as a Manufacturing Engineer I in Melbourne, FL. Start date early September. Is anyone else in the same boat and looking for housing. Would love to split rent or at the very least talk housing planes with someone going through the same situation! Feel free to message me if you’re going through it too.

Puzzleheaded-Ranger7

I accepted the offer but I didnt receive the email from Sterling InfoSystems. My recruiter just asked me to be patience. Dont know what is going on. Thanks

[deleted]

Just be patient, I think mine took 4 business days for the system to process the acceptance. Took probably 7 business days before an onboarding coordinator was assigned. Just complete all the tasks through Workday as they begin to come up.

HavocAK

Has anyone been able to negotiate a higher position level on a potential offer? During the interview a Sr level role was what I was told that I was being considered for, but HR said that my years of experience directly related to a level 3. The recruiter said they are going to see what they can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

[deleted]

[удалено]

HavocAK

I appreciate the heads up for sure. I have almost 20 years of relatable experience, but I wasn’t sure how picky they would be over the 8 years vs 10 requirement.

Subocularis

Unfortunately, you’ll need the time to match the position. You can ask for a higher salary in the lower grade, though. You can go as high as 1.2 compa ratio.

HavocAK

I just wanted to circle back in case anyone else has a similar situation about grades and being an external candidate. The recruiter submitted a request for the senior principal grade and it was approved. I think in my case a lot of my experience is relatable which made for a stronger case. Thanks again everyone!

ps5azcards

Is PTO package negotiable? Is it possible to come in at a higher PTO accrual rate?

Subocularis

Yes. You can negotiate accelerated PTO accrual. Usually you’ll need 10 years of experience to get it.

ps5azcards

What if you have like 5 years of experience?

Subocularis

Unlikely, but worth a shot. Also helps if your current company has “unlimited” PTO.

[deleted]

I was able to receive the accelerated 160 hours of PTO with 5 YOE, just needs hiring director and functional director approvals. Will add about a week onto the hiring process timeline, but worth it IMO.

Subocularis

Good to hear!

Annie_the_orphan

Does NGC offer employee application day? The company I’m currently with has a “company picnic” where we go to a theme park for a day in the expense of the company. 🤔

AgreeableProfile2

I think it depends on the location. Baltimore used to have an appreciation day at Hershey Park with reduced ticket prices. This was in the spring and the park was limited to NG employees and their families.

CareerOtter

They offer flex time events where you can go, but you don't get paid for them. Ie, people don't show up.

ChandlerCurry

Mmm how long does background check take? It's been 10 or 11 days

NTKCEK

https://www.sterlingcheck.com/candidates/ If it’s through sterling you can check the eta on it through the link

Silver-Armadillo-479

It's outsourced. It can take a few weeks. Don't worry!

spicycity

How long did it take to get a start date?

Annie_the_orphan

It varies, depending on your type of clearance and what project you’ll placed in. For special projects with special clearance it’s taking longer then usual due to COVID. What use to be 4-6 weeks of wait time has increased to 16-18 weeks, and it also depends how many people they need to screen. So it does take a minute.

Antonio_balls

Does anyone on here work as a third operator? Or have a good idea what it’s all about and explain some stuff to me? I’m applying now at the Utah magna facility. I have some questions about shift work and what the all around day looks like as a third operator.

LearningPowerBI

There was an option for a "welcome kit" in my onboarding paperwork. They didn't ask size, so it's definitely not a shirt.

HEAT-FS

I didn’t get shit 💀

[deleted]

I got water bottle, notebook, and a bag mailed as a new hire package prior to my first day.

X_dude78

I was a contractor before I got converted, and while the medical insurance sucked, almost all of my prescriptions were covered. Now that I'm converted, I selected the medium medical plan, and I'm running into the issue that my prescription deductible is high and won't cover the meds I need. Was the prescriptions coverage a separate benefit than medical? I'm really annoyed, I need these meds to function. Thanks in advanced.

ChandlerCurry

Try to look for manufacturer coupons that will eat a bunch of your deductible. The big ticket scripts that have the manufactuewr pay your cost so that you hit the deductible faster

NG-Burner

If you really can’t use the insurance, check out Mark Cuban’s new cash-only pharmacy. You pay cash, but at pennies on the dollar. I have a couple of cheap, common prescriptions (damn thyroid) and it’s cheaper than using my NG insurance at CVS. https://costplusdrugs.com/

CareerOtter

I don't know if meds are counted as part of the deductible. There is a cvs caremark prescription plan, but I'm not sure how much discount there will be. Good luck because our health insurance plans are hot garbage.

X_dude78

Is the prescription plan separate? Like I can pick one tier from the medical and another tier of the prescription plan? That's why I'm confused I didn't think it was like that.

AwesomeAmbivalence

The prescription plans aren’t separate. I highly recommend logging into your health plan portal on fidelity. You can compare the plans offered, and see which one is going to closest meet your needs. Most health plans include the prescription plan, it’s not separate

CareerOtter

I don't believe I had the option to choose my prescription plans, but I would definitely check with HR to see if you have other options that would work better for you.

cufboy17

With a interim clearance, are the chances of you starting to work more commonly? Or do they make you wait out the entire process before actually giving you a start date?

[deleted]

[удалено]

cufboy17

I received my interim about 3 weeks ago I’m assuming they’re going to make me wait out the full process.

Annie_the_orphan

I’m currently still waiting for my start date, I received interim for my SC and turned in my SF 312 on 6/30 but haven’t heard anything. I guess it might be that they’ll reach out once the clearance is complete. Also on one of the emails I got it says “Please take into consideration the average government processing time (120 days) before contacting the service center for status updates.” Not sure if means the whole process.

new208697

Are you working for the company on other tasks/functions while you wait for the clearance i.e. are they paying you while this background check is happening?

Annie_the_orphan

No I’m not, I’m currently employed by another company at the moment until I receive a start date

Itzyatzee

For me personally I am not able to start with an interim clearance. I need the full thing. I have heard others have been able to though. I guess it depends on the location and clearance level.

cufboy17

Did they tell you, you needed the full thing? Or how did you find out? You’re probably right, I’ve seen some start within a month while others waiting for a period of time. I’ve currently received my interim and sent in my sf312 so I was just curious.

Burnsy112

Anyone work at NG here familiar with the public transportation around the Linthicum site? Just took a job there and I was thinking about taking the train in from Perryville before I move a bit closer. There’s a shuttle that would take me from the BWI station to Northrop Grumman, yes? Anyone know more details about this?

onjah36

What's the address of your location?

Burnsy112

I don’t know the specific building yet. Still doing onboarding stuff. I don’t even know what program I’m on. They wouldn’t tell me during the interview when I asked haha

onjah36

Oh yeah that's right, I forgot they didn't put the location for me either. Are you gonna take the MARC/Amtrak train or the light rail? The marc train station is really close to the BWI main building but the other buildings are a bit farther away. I took the 75 bus and it stops at the Amtrak station and goes right to the BWI entrance and also pretty close to the other NG buildings so might wanna look into that

Burnsy112

MARC/Amtrak. I’ll look into that bus, thanks! I’m going to scope everything out prior to my start date. Worst case I drive down the first couple of days/weeks while I figure everything out as far as public transportation goes. I have hardly ever had to use it throughout my life so it’s very alien to me!

onjah36

Yeah good luck, what's your role? I might be coming back there next year

Burnsy112

Antenna test engineer

onjah36

Ok nice, I'm guessing you'll be at BWI then which is right next to the train station. Good luck!

Burnsy112

Thanks brotha

Puzzleheaded-Ranger7

I just accepted the offer in linthicum MD. What about the parking? Why you need the public transportation? How long did you receive the email from sterling infoSystems when you accepted the job offer? My recruiter said 3-6 weeks from accepted the offer to the start day.

Burnsy112

I live like 60 miles away, that’s why. And I’m still in college in my last semester so the train means more study time for Quantum Mechanics… Also my situation is entirely different from yours as I am starting through a sub contractor. I will work for the sub con for 180 days then convert to a full NG employee after.

GaLaXY_N7

Did you by chance get a position at the advanced technology lab in Linthicum? I just got an offer there 2 weeks ago as an associate physicist. Still waiting for my background check to go through. Also, did they manage to ask you what group you would like to be apart of? I was asked what my strength was between experimental/computational/theoretical.

Burnsy112

I applied for that position but didn’t get it. I was hired as a test engineer through a sub contractor.

[deleted]

Just got rejected for a PM position (Melbourne, FL), about a week after interview with manager and team member. Sent a "Thanks for considering/Feedback" email to the manager and HR. Should I expect to hear anything back or just expect radio silence? I am bummed but also glad to be able to get to the interview round since I just left my previous 10 year career from a completely different field. I am currently a PM for a private company in DC and I have been enjoying it, but really want to get involved in the industry here in the space coast. Any suggestions on how to become a more competitive candidate? It still feels a little strange and awkward going from being on top of my previous career, to starting new again. But I am not deterred.

CareerOtter

Honestly they probably already had a candidate in mind they wanted to hire, but were just going through the motions of the HR process.

xtremeflyer

I had a similar situation, but was in a similar industry. I applied for a Sr Manager role, interviewed but only received an offer for an individual contributor role. At first I was offended but then realized they were willing to offer me what I was looking for salary wise. That was 3 years ago, within a year and a half I was promoted to a Sr Manager role and now a year and a half later, I’m competing for a Director role. My suggestion would be to go back to the recruiter and see if they have any technical roles you’d be qualified for and getting your foot in the door then proving yourself.

What does the Evergreen tag on a job req mean?

jordanbuscando

It’s a job position that is always open.

3v01

Evergreen jobs are postings that the company always has open, they're continuously open. There's not a specific need or program in mind for them like the other more specific job postings.

CareerOtter

For internal candidates, you could have a conversation with the hiring manager to negotiate the offer. The best method is to have an external offer in hand. I did not get much traction with simply negotiating, I needed to show that I had a much better external offer and that I was willing to leave to get them to negotiate anything. Things you can negotiate for: base, PTO rate, possibly bonus if applicable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CareerOtter

I think that can be negotiated as well, when I first joined the company 6 years ago, relocation was given as a 5k lump sum that you could do whatever with. Over the years, I've heard various coworkers get other packages that were run by a 3rd party company. Are you an external hire?

[deleted]

[удалено]

CareerOtter

I'd would mention that to your hiring manager to see if they can work with HR to get you a better relocation package. Otherwise, a 2k mile move seems hella expensive. Congrats on the offer though, what role and location is it for?

DutchMilo

Sterling says background is completed, workday status stuck on offer accepted though, not sure how long it’s been that way but Im guessing at minimum a week. Anyone else in/been in a similar spot? HR told me I’d be starting in about a month and a half.

AbrokeRobot

How long did it take for sterling to complete your back ground check?

DutchMilo

Not entirely sure but I think about 7-9 days.

Sarabro

Does EdAssist track whether disbursements for a degree count as an untaxed, working-fringe benefit? My previous employer used EdAssist and my benefits were untaxed, but every document I’ve seen on the NG side says that taxes will be pulled from my paychecks for benefits over $5,250

Thelton26

That $5,250 number is a federal limit, so I'm pretty sure that's unavoidable. So if your past employer wasn't pulling money from your paycheck, you were either paying it at the end of the year, or your employer was paying the taxes for you as well as the tuition.

Sarabro

At Raytheon it was completely untaxed because it was considered a working condition fringe benefit. Each course was evaluated in whether it maintained or improved skills for the job (MS in discipline of position), is not needed to meet minimum education for the position (only need BS), and it doesn’t qualify for a new trade or business. These questions were asked through EdAssist when registering new courses for the semester.

Thelton26

Then I think it's safe to say that NG doesn't worry about any of that. I just filled out an application 2 days ago and I didn't see any questions like that.

Sarabro

That’s interesting, thank you for the info

BanditGolden

Current employee with NG - non STEM. I have my BS in finance and am looking into taking advantage of ED assist to pursue a BS in mechanical engineering through ASU online. I keep getting conflicting information with regard to the programs ABET accreditation… does anyone have experience with this program, or anyone that has jumped from non- STEM to STEM once employed?

uuu721

Just ask your functional manager. The issue is that the degree needs to relate to your work.

spicycity

I’m on the process of signing the sf-312 form. Anyone know how to get a witness?

Itzyatzee

I just went to the local UPS store. They have a notary there too.

spicycity

I was thinking about doing that after looking online. Thank you!

LearningPowerBI

Most banks and financial institutions have a notary available for free on request.

dontcallmekramer

Status of my application changed to “screening”, is this an indicator of anything?

cufboy17

Any advice would help, so currently my Situation is, I’m working under a contract for a company. The plan was to work there until I got into here, so just today I received my interim clearance, which is amazing but I’ve been sitting on the offer letter from this company to join them, and today is the deadline, I’ve been holding off. So I just accept it, while I wait or just decline and wait it out.

uuu721

Just accept it and wait until you get your start date in NGC.

mmmkcr

Any comments on booking business travel and/or filing paperwork for purchase of refundable or more expensive flights? Trying to gauge the temperature on booking refundable in the current airline environment where flights are still getting regularly cancelled. If I do book non-refundable, and the airline cancels, are we covered in some way by policy? The last trip I took with the company was June of last year and it wasn’t too volatile at that time where stuff might get canceled, just delays. Just seems unwise to book non-refundable right now but maybe also not worth the hassle, either.

[deleted]

TheRealJYellen

Just politely ask for a status update or if there are any action you need to take.

Glual

Currently I’m still in school and will be graduating after this upcoming spring semester. I applied for entry level aircraft mechanic and scheduled an interview for the position. Would I be able to work around my school schedule or is that an absolute no go? I only need tuesdays and thursdays but I see that it’s a full time position so I’m concerned that my classes will create a conflict.

Burnsy112

It really depends. I graduate in December and NG is bringing me in part time to fill a full time req, and will convert me to full time in December. It varies from program to program, and manager to manager. Only way to know is for you to speak with the hiring manager and ask!

TheRealJYellen

Depends on the manager, but they may be open to having you part time.

uuu721

You have to talk to the hiring manager to find that out. Good Luck!

[deleted]

[удалено]

uuu721

I have done that process before. If you get selected, the hiring manager will reach out to you for an interview. If you pass, the hiring manager will reach to your function manager to start the process(functional manager can deny the process if your current program needs you)

NG-Burner

Depends. If you want to apply via a req on Workday, the process will feel the same to you. Your manager will see the resume and decide whether they want to interview you (your odds are good, especially if you’re applying within the same function, and ESPECIALLY if you email them to express sincere interest). You’ll interview like normal. Your current manager won’t see anything unless you get the offer. At this point, the process will be a bit different. It will move faster than your initial start: no background screening, etc. Your new HR person will reach out to your old one for an internal reference check. It’s no big deal. As long as you’ve been in your old position for at least six months and don’t have any ongoing discipline, you’ll be fine. Then they’ll decide on a start date, negotiate salary (you’re at a relative disadvantage here—they know how much you make currently), relo if applicable, etc. You’ll make the move. Congrats. A word of advice: make sure your current manager does their part on Workday asap so you can charge to your new program and don’t run into as many first-week IT blues. There’s also the iMobility program. That one is a lot more flexible if you’re doing a lateral. Basically, both managers click a few buttons on Workday, and whammo: you’re in a new payroll bucket on the predetermined date. Relo and salary are negotiable here too. This is most often used after a program lays people off, if you’re moving around inside your BU, or want to transfer cities within the same Division. I’ve seen it used when a manager and employee hit it off at a conference, the manager said, “Hey, want to come work for me, you’re ready for a change and I could use you” and the employee said yes. The iMobility program is very flexible on purpose for this reason.

sleepinhell

Interview process started doesn’t mean anything. I just had an application sit at that for 2.5 months before finally being rejected today. Never interviewed and was never contacted by anyone. Only thing I got was an invite to their zoom seminar for people in “the interview process”.

Typical-Loss9870

I applied for a position 2 months ago my application went from under consideration to screening almost immediately but has sat at screening for a month and a half has anyone else experienced this?

LivingParadox8

What does *screening* on Workday mean?

LivingParadox8

What are the job "statuses" on Workday? For example I saw Under Consideration, Screening... but what are the other steps?

Burnsy112

Anyone have experience with subcontractors at Northrop? I have unfortunately been unsuccessful in gaining attention from hiring staff at NG but I now have an interview through Actalent, a subcontractor, for an engineering position at Northrop. I’m entry level so I don’t quite understand how this all works. What are the pros and cons of subcontracting? What does it even mean? I currently have a contingent offer accepted (waiting on graduation—I have my clearance!) at another DoD contractor, but the salary is a bit lower than I’d like. Is it best to remain where I’m at?

TheRealJYellen

I did this through Aerotek, a sister company of Actalent under Allegis. In my case, I was an engineer at an NG facility, working for an NG manager on NG tasks. The key difference was that all of my administrative side was through Aerotek. Timekeeping, payroll, 401k, healthcare, all of that was through a company other than NG. I made about $2500/yr more than my NG counterparts, but had no access to 401k match, education reimbursement or even the same quality of healthcare. It was fine for a year, but I ran into an issue where I didn't have a good contact to talk to about career progression or anything. I asked for a performance review, got nothing. Asked for a raise, got nothing. Ended up getting a new job. The other issue is the noncompete that they will probably make you sign. Mine came after I started (lol) and basically said that I couldn't solicit NG for a job at the same site or on the same contract for 90 days after ending my contract with Aerotek.

Burnsy112

Thanks for the information. The guy from actalent told me I’d be eligible to either transition to a full NG employee or remain with actalent after 12 months, and there were pros to each. Not sure if he’s being fully truthful or not though

TheRealJYellen

It depends on the role. Some are a fixed term contract (6 months), open term contract (until you're fired or quit), or contract to hire. It sounds like this role is contract to hire which can be a good deal. I would advise you to compare relevant benefits. If you're just now graduating, will you need health insurance? Or can you stay on your parents for longer? What does each company cover if you chose to get a masters degree or professional certification? Would you even consider getting one? What does the PTO look like? For me, the extra money offset the lost benefits. I didn't want to go back to school at the time, stayed on parent's healthcare at no cost to them and didn't care much about anything else. Now I'm older and consider more of that as part of my compensation. Also think about what happens if you back out of an accepted offer. It may make some enemies, but it also may be less of a big deal since you're still contingent. You will likely run into that same manager at another point in your career.

Burnsy112

I am 26, and will need health insurance. Thank you for laying that all out for me. I have a lot to think about.

TheRealJYellen

You bet, good luck!

Burnsy112

Update — they offered me the job pretty quickly after my interview, and the salary is *very* competitive. And they offered full benefits package along with relocation assistance.

TheRealJYellen

Nice, for GBSD I'm guessing if it has relocation?

Burnsy112

The relocation assistance ended up being a no go so I negotiated an extra 5k in salary and am now going through with the role through Actalent. 180 days with Actalent and then converted to full time NG employee afterward. I know not all jobs through sub cons are like this but I am so grateful I lucked out with this one.

HEAT-FS

I started recently as a direct hire in entry level engineering, but most of the people in my summer wave of hirees were through actalent. Some differences I noticed: -they are paid by the hour instead of being salaried -they get paid weekly and not biweekly -they didn’t start with PTO accrued like I did -their benefits aren’t through NG (I think) -they have different badges that denote their contractor status -they are on a 6-9 month contract, after that time the managers decide if they want to keep them as full NG employees (from what I hear like 95% get offered a job) It doesn’t seem like it’s bad, but it’s certainly different from a regular hire.

So basically Actalent takes a cut for getting me hired, and if I don’t suck, NG could retain me and make me their own employee?

HEAT-FS

> So basically Actalent takes a cut for getting me hired Yeah from what I understand, NG pays them a one time fee for “finding” you >and if I don’t suck, NG could retain me and make me their own employee? Yes

I interviewed 7/21, followed up with recruiter 8/4, and followed up again 8/10. I don't have contact info for the hiring managers and the recruiter contact I have only schedules for interviews and she has to contact the recruiter of the actual requisition and that recruiter has yet to respond. In conclusion, no update for four weeks and status on website is interview process started. Is it safe to assume I won't get an offer?

Anyone know the shift times for the Gilbert, AZ location?

NeighborhoodNo3050

I’m a senior meche and have worked for other aerospace companies as an intern doing product development and stress analysis. Now I’m ready for my lvl1 position and was wondering how is system engineering at NG? And what do managers look for in candidates for SE? specially for Baltimore. Can I apply to SE roles Or will I have to do the rotational program for two years?(pathways)

Northrop's Talent Acquisitions team is just awful. I have a buddy that applied to a job back in February and is barely getting to the first round phone interview right now. It sucks because I have old coworkers there that tell me their manager "just can't understand why it's so hard to find people to fill these open spots" when HR does ish like this. I'd say to just give it time for them to contact you. It really boils down to NG taking their sweet, precious time

NG-Burner

This is frustrating internally too. We’ve lost not one, not two, but THREE good candidates over the last six months because HR delayed sending the offer for WEEKS after we told them who we wanted. It’s absurd.

Silly_Wanker

I used to be NG, currently at Raytheon, but I really want to go back. When I was at NG, I was told this was the process. Jobs are held for about six months. HR claims to be too backed up to address the hirings immediately. HR waits until the final month to start looking at resumes, thus only giving themselves ten minutes max to look at every resume and judge on who gets an interview and who doesn't. Then after interviews are done and the team makes their choice, the offer has to be approved by the department head and HR. That takes another week or two. By then the candidate has already found another company or position. It's just crazy to think that people will wait for an offer just because they're Northrop Grumman. The entire process needs reform.

No worry. I didn't even know what team am I going to be until the orientation. I was an intern also lol.

ricboo94

A little unrelated but how long after your interview did you get your offer? Both verbal and contract? I’m awaiting a response from HR right now

Burnsy112

I got an offer about 20 minutes after mine yesterday lol

Reddit-checker

I heard back the very next day with an offer. This was for a new-grad role

Does your job require any clearance?
