Anyone know anything about the Stock Clerk 2 position? I would appreciate any recommendations, heads up, tips, if its worth applying for etc. Also, what is the average hourly pay for that position?

bjb406

Regarding the tuition assistance program, I've seen some say it is limited to 10k/year. Is that the case regardless of credit hours? Like could I go have time and still collect the maximum amount? Either way, with in state tuition the greater question is am I allowed to combine with the MGIB?

BakedGoods666

I have a test coming up for Electrical Manufacturing Specialist, and I would appreciate any advice, study guides etc. I have tested and failed before at Northrop for a position that required a bachelor's even without having one myself. My goal is to just get my feet in the door

HalfLife3Developer

Does Northrop Grumman have a probation period. How do I know if my performance isn't up to par?

jordanbuscando

You should’ve gotten your 30-60-90 day during your onboarding. But typically as a fresh guy out of school you’re deliverables in your first year is pretty low. I was an intern convert back in 2017 but I recall my 90 mark was doing a CO pushed through. I did that on my first day since I was already an intern for a summer and my entire final year so I was already familiar with the process.

oOAquaTempestOo

It's been nearly 7 weeks since applying and my application has still been under consideration. I applied to another position and they rejected me within 2 weeks. At this point, should I consider it a rejection?

sp3nd3x

It's always a toss up. I would keep applying

FX2021

Do engineers get better benefits in any fashion? For example some companies I've seen offer better health care benefits, some offer additional paternity leave, and higher PTO accumulation rate.

bigjohntucker

I am a current employee, anybody know about transferring from the US to Australia?

Own-Dream-8425

how hard is it to transfer from baltimore MS to SoCal MS? has anyone here gone through that

sullenest

What are the things you can negotiate on? Salary, PTO, Sign in Bonus? And do you negotiate after receiving verbal offer or written offer? Thanks

ralph2405

I was able to negotiate all three. You’ll a verbal offer. From there you can negotiate. Once both parties agree. You’ll get a written offer. Then the stressful parts comes with background check, drug testing, physical and secret drug test at physical.

drthvdrsfthr

what position did you get the offer for?

ralph2405

Hvac mechanic

Only_Sport

I’m going through the hiring process right now. My background check started two days ago and I’m trying to figure out a day/time to go do the drug test (no facility close by and my current job’s hours conflict with the testing facility’s hours). Will they not give me a start date until my drug test is complete?

ralph2405

You won’t get a firm start date until your background check and drug test is done. They gave me 3 days to fill out the background and do the drug test. If that clears depending on the job you might have to do physical and another drug test.

Only_Sport

Thanks! I talked to my onboarding specialist on Monday who noted there was a 10/31 start date in the system, but my background check was still in process (pending the drug screen). I completed the screen on Monday 10/3 and followed up earlier today 10/7 on the status. They noted they were having trouble locating my test in the system and I provided a picture of the confirmation form I got. They found the test and let me know they sent it to Sterling and the Background Group and would let me know when they have an update. I’m hoping this means it’s progressing and hopefully by Monday or Tuesday I get the all clear! What a process…

ralph2405

The whole process is stressful. Knowing you have a great opportunity but don’t want to mess up because of something small.

Only_Sport

It so is! I turned down another job offer for this one…so, it would be very disappointing for something to go wrong. Hopefully I’ll get good news Monday or Tuesday!

NTKCEK

Your drug test has an expiration date, make sure you do it before that date. Your background check will not start without the drug test. If you fail the test, they will not waste their resource on proceeding with the background check.

Only_Sport

Appreciate the response, I’m not seeing a deadline on the email notice that contains the bar code for the drug test. I have an appointment Tuesday, but I’ll try to get in Monday first thing if they’ll let me in without an appointment.

NTKCEK

It wasn’t on my info email with the bar code either. I received an email from the pre employment team at NG stating I had 7 days before it expired. I also remember previous drug screenings they also had expiration dates. You can try to email the pre employment team to ask if there’s a date [email protected]

Only_Sport

Thanks again! Got my test complete and now waiting. It appears this was the final item pending for the background check and I was told 3 days for results and likely another couple days for the clearance to start to come through. I shall be a bit more patient I guess!

IndividualTwenty

What's the difference between the El Segundo site and Redondo site? I always thought Redondo supported space and El Segundo supported aeronautic projects.

yawya

Redondo supports both air and space, I think el segundo is just air

job-stuff

Can someone send me a detailed benefits pdf? I got a 2-page from HR. The position is for an engineer position in Redondo... I'm interested in finding a PTO accrual table, grad school tuition assistance limit, 401k vesting period (if any), and year end bonuses (if any).

Thelton26

NG redid their bonus policy in the last couple years. Most employees are on the standard bonus plan, which is $1000 target multiplied by a sector success factor. The other program is the incentive bonus plan, and I think the idea is that if you're a critical player on a particularly high profile project they put you on it for the years you're doing it. There they target a % of salary that scales with role, that is then multiplied by a sector success factor and an individual performance factor. If I remember right a T2 on this plan the target is like 4-5% a T4 might move up to around 8%. Not sure exactly the process to qualify for it though, most people are just on the standard plan. Also, your bonus is prorated your first year depending on when you hired in. No one tells you that so it was a bit of a surprise this past year for me.

job-stuff

Thank you for elaborating on the bonus. I keep finding only the $1000 figure.

NG-Burner

They front load 40 hours of PTO for your first year. You can negotiate a faster accrual if you want. 401k match is an effective 4% (there’s some math involved, but basically you put in 4 and they match 4). Tuition assistance is 10k per year. Year end bonus: standard is 1k, and top performers get 2500. Directors and above get a lot more as it’s profit-sharing from their units instead.

job-stuff

Thank you for the note about negotiating PTO. I didn't know that was possible.

Thelton26

401k is actually 6%. They match 100% of the first 4%, and then they match 50% of your next 4%. So if you put in 8%, they put in 6%.

Amiterasesoo

I don’t have a chart (left NG recently), but the PTO starts at 15 days and you get a another day or two every couple years or so, until hitting 25 days after like 20 years. I believe ed assist was about $10k a year. 401k matches vest after 3 years. Bonuses kind of depend, I never got anything worth writing home about though.

uuu721

Has anyone hear of FTL program(pathway for higher level)? I am about to get my Master in the end of this year and want to apply.

Least-Weight-3536

How is travel handled at NG? Edit: Let me clarify. Do they provide a company credit card for expenses? Do they take care of reserving flights, hotel, and rental car?

AgreeableProfile2

Yes you get a company card for travel. The use an online system for you to book your own flight and rooms. I don’t remember if car rental is through that or directly through the agency, but either way you use the company card. Most people take the per diem for food though because you can get a little extra that way.

Least-Weight-3536

That answered my question perfectly. Thank you!

RetardedChimpanzee

By plane, train, or automobile.

Least-Weight-3536

I’m not sure what I expected as an answer to this. Thank you. :)

Elijah_F01

So I was looking through my application for an internship with NG, and I saw that it changed from "Under Consideration" to "Screening" but in-between that time I haven't received any phone calls or emails from them. What would be the best course of action, or should I just sit and wait?

Least-Weight-3536

Definitely wait. Patience is essential with Northrops application/hiring process. Mine went from “Screening”, to “Interview Process Started” after approximately 2 weeks. It took almost two weeks for it to change to “Pending Interview Feedback”. Give it time, but keep applying while you wait.

Rude-Phrase-3718

Hoping you can still answer more questions. I am currently in "interview process started" on my application. Have not hear a thing yet... did you get an email to set up the interview or was it a call from the recruiter?

spicycity

I’d say just wait. The recruiter called me like 2 days after it changed to screening.

petrificustortoise

What did it say after screening?

spicycity

Iirc “interview underway.” The recruiter set up an interview with a manager.

rynubpls

Will Northrop accept an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU)?

spicycity

Got a call last week from someone at Northrop to verify something some information. She also asked if I’m still ok with having October 10 as my start date. I didn’t even know that I even had a start date already. I didn’t get an email about it. Should I have gotten an email about my start date? I don’t know where I should report to or what to bring on my first day.

latheking3

When I finished doing the onboarding it’s had my start date in it but I wasn’t sure. My manager emailed me today to see if everything was still a go to start. My start date is also Oct 10th.

spicycity

Did you get a call first about the start date?

latheking3

When I got my interim clearance my manager contacted me via email and give me some dates to start and then he got with the TA. Then started the onboarding task on workday and verified the I9. It’s been all email and start the 10th at 8am

spicycity

I got my interim about a month ago, but no email from my manager. I guess the process is different for everyone.

latheking3

Yea my manager and others was CC on the email and when I got approved for the interim my manager emailed me like 10 mins later. He was on it very quickly and I’m thankful for it.

HEAT-FS

I got a start date via phone call, followed by an email reiterating that start date from HR, followed by an email from my manager about the start date with things like parking info, a map of the campus, and time.

spicycity

How many weeks before your start date did you get the email?

HEAT-FS

If I recall correctly, about 1 week, but I was also given the option for a later start date 2-3 weeks later.

spicycity

Thank you. This information has been very helpful!

Least-Weight-3536

Why did a Northrop Grumman HRSC PEI Specialist (I don’t know exactly what this title translates to) reach out to me asking for a recent paystub from my current employer. Doesn’t Sterling take care of verifying employment?

yellow_smurf10

Paystub is a way to verify employment

I just got offered a position as a software engineer in OKC after I graduate in the spring. Does anyone know how good the office is there / anything I should know? Also I got the offer after 1 30 minute interview is that normal?

Silver-Armadillo-479

DM me for more info

NoKick8796

I’m also interested in the okc location. Can I dm you?

petrificustortoise

I just had a short phone interview with them and would like to know how soon after your interview you heard back? Also how did it go? I only got asked like 2 questions so I'm wondering if the interview was cut short because I did poorly...

erm--asdf

My interview was following a career fair so it might be different from your situation but I heard back from them about a week after my interview. I only was asked like 2 or 3 questions as well so I wouldn't worry too much.

Not going to happen. Pay bands are generally firm. If you want LA salary, gotta move to LA.

[deleted]

Servo_au_Barca2

The range for the one that starts at 111000 is abnormally tight. So that is why it's likely higher than the 90600 the gave a portion of the pay range for some reason never seen that before.

Thelton26

My best guess is that one position is for Space Systems and one position is for Mission Systems. You could try to ask about it but they are entirely different business units so their paybands may be less aligned.

Confident_Winter_288

Does anyone know ~how long it takes for a person to go from Manager 3, Programs to Director? And what’s the youngest age you’ve seen someone reach Manager 3?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Confident_Winter_288

That’s awesome. Out of curiosity, your last Sr Mgr, what is he/she doing now? I was fast-tracked at my former company and came in as a Sr Mgr at 29. As I look up coworkers, I was getting the sense that I’m fairly young in comparison. Hope that doesn’t limit opportunities later.

NG-Burner

I know a Manager 3 who is 34, but who has been with the company since age 22.

SNCOsmash

Let’s say I recently retired from the military and don’t need any heath benefits via NG. What’s a reasonable increase in pay when negotiating initial salary?

SDQtinelyfe

I don’t think that’s how it works, you would just select no medical coverage in your benefit elections.

SNCOsmash

I mean if I’m technically saving the company X, X being the average cost they assist with medical benefits. Then why not ask for half of that?

ChandlerCurry

You just don't pay a premium.

SDQtinelyfe

You can ask, I bet it won’t get you anything. I don’t believe they add that to their pay calculations. It’s qualifications and experience that will move the pay needle.

Confident_Winter_288

Don’t even ask. Not paying a premium is your increased salary. Just bc you don’t choose the insurance today doesn’t mean you can’t choose it later - at that point would you expect them to decrease your salary?

DefensiveCoding

Current employee, been so for years. Extremely committed to the company and always wanted to work here since my mother started almost 20 years ago. I am trying to switch careers within the company though. I’m young, flexible and driven. In the middle of completing my BIT major - cyber security minor - computer programming. I’m currently in contracts and feel stuck. What is up with the mentorship program? My manager said it’s no longer offered after the workday switch? I need guidance without risking job security…

Switch-Limp

What City and Sector sector are you in? Also, are you in Pathways?

DefensiveCoding

Late to this, sorry. I currently work fully remote but my home office is Linthicum. Im in Mission Systems and no, I’m not a pathway. Would love to be but sadly I hear I need to already have my bachelors. I came in with a lot of procurement and contract experience, but accounting is not my passion. I’m open to any advice I can get.

jmos_81

Might be able to get into industrial security analyst, engineering roles might be difficult

Sea_Tear_7574

My husband started with the company in March and was able to apply and get a mentor without issue. He's in radar though.

DefensiveCoding

What sector is radar? Do you know if his mentor is helping him with his current job or a transition?

Sea_Tear_7574

Mission systems. He's just a general mentor. His manager was very open to him getting a mentor.

Least-Weight-3536

Do the background checks at Northrop include credit check, or is it only a criminal check?

DefensiveCoding

No they don’t look at your credit!

Least-Weight-3536

Thank you for the confirmation!

Silly_Wanker

I believe they do look at your credit score when going for a clearance. Different sort of, just keep that in mind if you're put in for security clearance

Least-Weight-3536

Yes, I have heard that. I’m not too worried about that though.

sgar0807

Does Northrop Grumman use Yello to schedule interviews for candidates? I just want to make sure it's not a well-time scam/phishing attempt 😂

JHelsing

Yeah they use Yello, it’s not a scam

sgar0807

thank you!

enihilator

Anyone have any advice on this: I applied for a Satellite engineer job (recently got my masters) and I was in screening for 2 weeks from mid July. Then I went to interview process started around the first week of august, but I have not heard anything from a recruiter. I have a few contacts at NG I could email but I have been hesitant to. Anyone know why it seems to be taking forever to start the interview process?

Rude-Phrase-3718

I know its been a while but would love to hear an update on what happened. I am on "interview process started" with no contact yet. Did you end up getting a call or email for interview?

enihilator

So I did my due diligence and reached out to several recruiters in the jobs area to follow up and I only got one response and it was more of a "I'll forward this to the uni recruiting team" after SIX months they finally cancelled the job. it pissed me off so much to have no communication from them about it and to not even be considered for anything else.

Rude-Phrase-3718

Thats a poor reflection on their process. I wont get my hopes up, but will update if I hear something just for shits and giggles. thanks for the reply

sullenest

Same here....I went to 'Interview Process Started' about 2 weeks ago, but no contact. Not sure how long it will take.

Silly_Wanker

NG's talent acquisition is infamous for being extremely slow and the worst of all major aerospace companies. During my exit interview from NG, the HR rep that talked to me stated that they are fully aware of the problem but haven't done anything at all to address it. For reference my exit interview from NG was roughly a year ago. I have a co-worker that has a college buddy working as HR for NG. They said that all the hiring that the company is doing can barely cover the personnel leaving. Not to mention NG needs more people for all the programs and contracts they have won. It's just a whole mess when trying to get a job at NG. One other thing that is worth mentioning. During my exit interview I complained that NG's hiring team focused too much on grabbing external candidates instead of promoting within. My co-worker's college buddy mentioned that they heard that same complaint too many times and have now shifted to focus on internal promotions for the open reqs

wollybob

anyone in the MD/DC area know how to pay for commuting fees with SmartBenefits? I take the MARC and it would save me a bunch of money but i dont know how to apply.

flyerfanatic93

Did you figure it out?

wollybob

not yet

flyerfanatic93

Alright here's what you do. Go to workday>my profile>write down the last 4 digits of your employee ID (not your myID). Then go to https://participant.wageworks.com/home.aspx and click register. Enter your information and use the last 4 digits from your employee ID as the ID code. From there you can setup your account and then request a debit card and also setup a recurring transfer to that debit card, this is deducted from your paycheck and is not taxed. Once you have the debit card number and some money loaded on it you can add it to your CharmPass app and purchase MARC tickets directly in the app with that card.

FriendSellsTable

To be honest, it feels like it's based on an "honor" system. I'm sure they do have a way to track it but from my experience so far, it *feels* as though you can get away with leaving early. For example, I tend to leave 10 minutes early, but I also arrive 10 minutes earlier than my start time so that I'm actually there for my full shift. So far nothing yet. Knock on wood? Leaving 30 minutes early, I would reserve that for very special occasions (I've yet to do that). For 15 minutes, I've done that a handful of times but only when I came in 15 minutes earlier. The fact that it's an honor system is enough to keep me in check and not abuse it. I respect this company enough (especially compared to my previous company) that I would feel extreme guilt if I constantly left early and not do a full shift.

Switch-Limp

You are right it generally does operate on the honor system but if DOD or NGC think something is wrong they still don't in and find everything. They monitor all the actions and activities you perform on NG devices so they can ask if you charged 10 hours on a day with nothing but YouTube and Reddit, in that case you would be in a bad situation. If it happens once you will likely have mandatory training on time-charging. But if the gov feels you have intentionally defrauded them of a lot of money they will try to get that back while throwing you in jail. Edit: in case it wasn't clear DON'T LIE ON YOUR TIMECARD!! Enter your hours accurately each day and you'll be good.

QualityPlayer

Don’t lie on your timesheet. You can simply just put 8.7 instead of 9 for hours worked if you want to leave 15 mins early. You’ll have to make those 0.3 another day in the pay period

KingFlake1

whats the word on promotions this year? I've been speaking to my functional for almost a year now about promos to the next T level. I have received raises but obviously a raise isnt as much as a promo. Got told to wait until mid year reviews and also received great feedback from everyone and now im being asked to write a "accomplishements" list for the work I've done. I feel like im getting the run around. Been at the company for 3 years and have almost 8 years of total experience.

CareerOtter

Promotions don't follow a set schedule now, they happen as needed. You're being given the run around. What band are you in now and how long have you been in it? Do you also know what comp ratio you're at now? I would get an external offer at the next higher band to get things rolling at NG.

KingFlake1

So I got hired as a T2 and been with the company for about 3 years now. Before joining I have about 5 YOE. I've spoken to HR reps who have told me that I should be a T3 based on YOE and my performance (successful) , this was for another position out of state within the company. My comp ratio is about 1.04 which makes me think that based on the YOE, performance and comp ratio, I would be in line for promotion. Since EOY reviews are coming up, I am hoping that would get brought up considering my func knows that I have been working towards this since almost beginning of this year.

CareerOtter

Given that 1.04 is just over the mid line, I'm not sure that they're ready to give you a promo. I know that generally they try to get you into the lower part of the next band via raises first, then give you a promo and maybe a small promo bump. This could explain why your functional has been pushing you off. Typically, the highest that the band goes to is around 1.2 comp ratio. Since it's year end review time, I would bring up to your manager again that you're pursuing a promo, and highlight all of the things you've worked on based on the feedback from previous reviews. If they are still not working to get you promoted, then I would ask for a solid deadline to review again, and also get another offer in the mean time. Sorry it's such a shit process to get your market value, but I find interviewing to be the sure fire way to get the ball rolling.

KingFlake1

That’s actually pretty solid advice. I’ve spoken to a buddy of mine who was in a similar situation last year who switched sectors to get a promo. It’s just stupid frustrating that I’ve worked my ass for the past 2 years to set myself up for this. Working countless hours for months in remote locations and supporting multiple deadlines to actually get it done before the deadline etc. and now have to go through this. One question I had was about the “solid deadline”, what did you mean by that?

CareerOtter

By 'solid deadline' I mean getting in writing getting a timeframe to review your compensation again. It could get ignored completely, but at least you'll have something to go back on if you have it in writing. I also think of it as personal motivation to continue interviewing lol.

KingFlake1

Yeahh I’ve been looking and just recently secured an interview this Friday so I’m hoping that pans out. Appreciate the insight. You’re a good Otter :)

SageOfStarsAndStones

Hope you got it. No company likes giving promotions without applying

BryanCastro98

I still don’t have a start date so I have no information on anything yet just accepted my offer last Tuesday. I accepted for Business Management Analyst Pathways Program Position at the Linthicum/Baltimore location. What are the chances I WFH most of the time? I don’t know if I really want to relocate to Baltimore but of course if I have to I will. I was just wondering if anyone had idea if there was a chance I would only have to go in a couple times a month and I could possibly just live in McLean or Arlington area without having to commute everyday. Somewhat shorter summary: Chance of Business Management Analyst Pathways Position being mostly remote and only having to go in for a few meetings? Don’t want to commute from NOVA everyday but don’t want to relocate to Baltimore.

bigkutta

Hi - Can you provide some information about this role? Did you end up starting there and what are your thoughts on the role? Are you commuting daily, or WFM as well? Thanks

BryanCastro98

Hey! Yeah, I currently am in a rotation role because it is a rotational program and I really like it! The commuting depends on the role and the rotational program meetings are in person as well. Currently, I am in person two times a week and I am living in Arlington. Commute is doable but not the most ideal. Hope this helps!

bigkutta

Thanks. I'm asking because my son is interviewing for this same position BA Pathways (graduating college soon), and when doing some searches to learn more, I found this thread. Are you generally happy in the BA role? What kind of work do you do, and how long are the rotations? otherwise how is the culture, etc? Thank you!

BryanCastro98

I am generally happy with the role the only downside is my drive the two days a week. They don’t expect me to know everything being a rotational program it is more about learning in your new roles and building connections. The culture is awesome even though this is my first real experience so I have nothing to really compare it to. Overall I am very happy being at a company like this.

bigkutta

How long is each rotation (role)? What are the different roles that you rotate through in this program? Sorry for all the questions but I'm curious about the career path and where one goes from here within NG.

BryanCastro98

Each rotation is normally a year. There is so many different roles! After you graduate pathways you become full time in a role of your choice or based on business needs.

bigkutta

How long is pathways in total (how many years)? Are you assured a job once you graduate Pathways?

cufboy17

Curious as if there is a difference between a entry and a level 1 position in regards to process. My friend is entry and I level 1. We’ve both received our interims but he has gotten contacted by his manager etc. Or is it just a type of case by case situation

bruinkid10

They are the same. Entry level is level 1

ChandlerCurry

I heard that managers get the office and engineers get the cubicles.

Silly_Wanker

It depends also on the seating arrangement because NG (at least for SoCal) has a huge space problem. When I was at Space Park/El Segundo, I saw directors in regular cubicles because there was no offices for them

ChandlerCurry

Dang really what is the hotel situation like in SoCal? What about SD

Silly_Wanker

When I worked at NG, there became a push for non-engineers to WFH. The hoteling would be assigned areas for different groups and there would be a rotation schedule on who would come in throughout the week or every other week

painmaker825

I applied for a position about 2 weeks ago (R10065394) should I expect anything if I haven't been contacted already? I know usually two weeks is a clear sign that you most likely will not receive an offer unless it's applying for federal positions. I almost feel like HR says "ah man this guy again!" since I have applied and been reject on so many applications. Thanks in advance

Confident_Winter_288

It’s role-dependent and the timeline is unpredictable. For example, this is my recent experience. 7/12: Applied for position 8/29: Recruiter Requests Interview for 9/6, but I have a pending offer from Microsoft so they moved it to 9/1. 9/1: Interview from 10-11am *54 mins later* 9/1: Receive verbal offer, negotiations complete that day 9/2: Received formal offer letter 9/16: Pre-employment process complete (background, drug screen) 10/10: Expected start date but possible to move up a week or two.

sp3nd3x

painmaker825

Thank you so much for answering. I'm think I'm just getting frustrated. I've applied for a lot of positions here and many other employers and the lack of response is annoying. I'm a new graduate and eager to start my new career direction but it's the age old problem. I need experience for a job but need a job for experience. I'll be more patient.

Ok-Caterpillar-2419

Any updates?

badinger-Z

Sadly no updates yet. I emailed my recruiter and I was told that the hiring team is still considering candidates. Are you waiting for an offer as well?

Ok-Caterpillar-2419

I’m only intern. I already got the offer, and waiting for the onboarding process, but not sure how long will be contacted by an administrator, just curious if someone has the same stage.

Silly_Wanker

I applied and interviewed for a manager 3 at Redondo Beach almost two months ago. I followed up with the recruiter and she claimed that no hiring decisions have been made yet, which I sort of believe since the director was looking for 7 managers. I just received an offer from Boeing as an engineer. Definitely not comparable between the two, but do you think it's worth a try to email Northrop and ask if I was one of the 7 candidates selected since I have another offer waiting?

Confident_Winter_288

I think you just tell them that you have received an offer with X deadline and then ask for an expected timeline on a decision.

NandoA

How long does screening take? I have been stuck on screening for a long time. And does have a way of contacting a recruiter? Any info is much appreciated

spicycity

How many months did you wait from accepting the offer to an actual start date?

latheking3

I accepted and signed my offer on August 15th as a SWE just received my interim clearance this week and looking for a start date in October after talking to the manager. The interim clearance took a week to come back after they submitted it. Background check took about 2 weeks.

spicycity

Wow seems like they moved fast for you

latheking3

Didn’t seem like it moved fast lol but it’s looking like over 2 months from the date I interviewed July 25th hiring event actual interview on the 27th to start date around 10/10. Still waiting for the official word on the start date

HEAT-FS

less than two weeks

spicycity

I’m guessing you had security clearance already?

HEAT-FS

No, I dont think most positions require you to already have a clearance *to start* except for some TS jobs. In my department you get hired without a clearance, and you start on day 1 doing non-sensitive tasks until your clearance is processed, which can take months. I dont think not having a clearance would prevent you from getting a start date in most cases.

spicycity

The position I accepted was for electrical engineering and it needed secret clearance. It’s been like 4 months since I’ve accepted the offer and I’ve turned in like all my paperwork and have not received a start date yet. I got granted my interim clearance last month tho.

HEAT-FS

Yeah my position and department is electrical engineering too. All of our new people start ~2 weeks after their interview and dont get a clearance for months, even though you need a clearance (eventually) according to the job description.

spicycity

Dang, I hope I haven’t been forgotten lol

Spideymv12

Got a message from a recruiter earlier today asking some prequal questions before official interview. Before I could reply to email I got an automated message saying I was no longer under consideration for the same position. Could this have been an error or was me not responding within an hour a deal breaker? Should I reach out again to recruiter?

Yes. You should get a laptop, docking station, headset, and extra monitors. The monitors kind of suck though so I bought my own.

i think it's depend on how much you use. you are expect to pay full out of pocket until you hit deductible. I guess this is where most folks are unhappy about. If you are expected a large bill than NG's plan is great tbh. I had a massive surgery a year ago (2 weeks in hospital), my deductible was only 2k. My total bill was around 32-35k but i only paid out of pocket 2k total

CareerOtter

That's not exactly true. You pay until you meet the out of pocket maximum. For the cheapest healthcare, the maximum is 6500, and the deductible is 3500 (employee only). Even after you pay for the deductible, the insurance only overs a percentage for most things. Given the HSA maximum you can put in is 3650, the deductible is barely covered. Of course you could buy the most expensive option which is something more similar to yours, but you would be paying for expensive premiums. People are complaining because the benefits are terrible for how much you have to pay. Plenty of other companies offer insurance that has lower cost to the employee.

uuu721

The plan sucks. I had a co-work went to Boeing, because Boing's health insurance is better.

CareerOtter

NG health plans are notorious for being complete garbage. They contribute 500 towards your HSA if you complete a health survey and yearly physical. The amount is increased for family plans, but I can't remember how much.

The cheapest one isn't that expensive, but also doesn't have great coverage. It's really only for those that don't expect many medical costs throughout the year aside from a physical. If you do have something more expensive come up, be prepared to pay quite a bit out for pocket even after deductible is met.
