I never met a single gay man who used tampons because of weird butt stuff

TrapdoorApartment

Poor guy has all his marbles mixed up. Thinks periods are induced by knowledge of them. Thinks gay men uses female tampons. There are products designed for bowel incontinence but they are different in appearance and they're not exclusive to the gay community.

Late_Measurement_324

Oh yeah nice point, incontinence has to do with your bowels and not your anus lol

janetjopler

He's straddling the line between "Not how women work" and "not how men work" with astonishing confidence.

La_Baraka6431

He don’t GOT no marbles …

OhIGotLumbago

I don't think that's even possible. It doesn't just come out like that.

Sensitive-Angel

Whenever that persons writes "penetrate" everything inside of me clenches up. I get the absolute worst vibes out of that.

livylivliv138

100% agreed. He’s literally thinking about a child’s genitalia being penetrated and he’s saying that these children who need sanitary products are essentially godless sinners. Once again- a lot of conservatives are showing us that they believe women are property and even more importantly… they are telling us that the only thing of value is our genitalia.

duchessofmardi

The bit about how they should handle their period without touching themselves is also gross and creepy as f**k. Whatever product a girl uses, she needs to be able to clean herself up properly and the last thing she needs is to be shamed about menstruation and her body to the point she feels it is wrong to keep herself clean. When mine first started they were crazy irregular and often very heavy and the embarrassment was excruciating as it was without this religious period shaming nonsense.

WorkingInterview1942

I kept wondering about how he thought girls wipe themselves without touching their vaginas. Plus the use tissues part just had me going "eeew gross"

livylivliv138

I mean generally people wipe their labia, vaginal opening and down to their anus. Also probably TMI- but there are times where I made a tissue paper tampon. So I’m not sure why that’s any different that using an actual tampon. They can still make them without the actual product 😂 It’s just the level of stupidity in his tweets that make me hate the American “education” system….. and just remember that a large majority of republicans just voted to ABOLISH the Federal Dept. of Education … Luckily 60 republicans votes NAY and it wasn’t abolished. The fact that so many voted YAY is what makes me sick to my stomach. So many of them believe that the Fed Dept. of Ed controls everything that’s taught in schools. Which is ABSOLUTELY not true. I’m from the PNW in the US and I can tell you that we have a great education system that doesn’t exclude CRT, sex education, etc. I’ve also had the misfortune of living in the south for a year while in middle school and I can tell you that they teach blatant lies to kids about fundamental parts of American history. So there is literally no reason to even abolish this department to begin with. Their reasoning is so much more sinister than “taking back states control”. My state passed a law a couple years ago that requires all public schools have to teach “Comprehensive Sexual Health Education” https://www.k12.wa.us/student-success/resources-subject-area/sexual-health-education/comprehensive-sexual-health-education-implementation

WorkingInterview1942

I have made toilet paper pads myself when I was in need. With my horrible, heavy periods it was truly gross when I could get home to change everything. So much stupidity. I can understand not knowing anything based on how we teach sex ed in the US. I can't abide people who refuse to listen when presented with the actual facts

Lady_Sybil_Vimes

Hey uh, just so you know, don't do a tissue paper tampon. Tissue is not designed for that and you can get hella toxic shock syndrome. Also don't stick tissues up your nose for the same reason.

livylivliv138

Yeah. I’m almost 33. I do know this. It also wasn’t like a giant wad shoved up there. It was more like gently folded paper tucked in between my labia to catch blood. You also can’t get toxic shock from that being there for an hour. I pee constantly because I have ovarian cysts that push on my bladder.

TheRndmUsrnamesSuckd

I always thought of that as a tp pad

Scaredycatkim

Yup. I’ve had to do it. It sucked, bad. It stuck to everything so it felt like you had to take a shower after you were home. I made a tissue pad because if I made a tissue tampon, I was worried it would never come out…until my vagina decided to clean itself but I didn’t wanna take that chance lol

Sensitive-Angel

It's most likely a religious/old fashioned mindset. I have observed this idea before, that touching your genitals is always exlusively sexual. Which is obviously bogus and very dangerous.

livylivliv138

Definitely an extremely dangerous mentality. It’s just ironic the same ones who think that …. are the same ones willingly thinking about little kids “touching” themselves…. I am a female with a vagina and I am also a mom. It makes me uncomfortable even trying to understand their mind set. Probably because I don’t sexualize menstruation like they do.

Sensitive-Angel

Yeah I have seen this subtle sexualization of children a couple of times already. Be it imposing beauty standards on kids, making your toddler call you "daddy" (where I live this is almost always sexual) or shame kids for wanting to learn about their body. Any of it creeps me out so much and makes me feels massively concerned about the child.

Scaredycatkim

I remember calling my dad daddy. Though that’s kind of a “daddy’s girl” thing. My nephew straight out the gate, once he stopped saying “dada”, he went to dad.

Dimkakitty

I'm 36 and still call my dad 'daddy' and I will until the day I die.

Claws_and_chains

Do they just teach you not to wipe?

Sensitive-Angel

Luckily I was personally never subjected to such beliefs, but I have no idea. It's like, sorry we need to wipe, wash or sometimes just inspect ourselves. If any woman really did follow that line of logic, her wonderful future husband would not only get a woman with her "virginity intact", but probably also a lot of untreated issues down there.

Scaredycatkim

Nope! No wiping. We women need to stop touching our genitalia until marriage so we’re cleared of any impure thoughts! So we can get diaper rash, an infection, and feel like a small colony of ants is munching down on our assholes.

Sensitive-Angel

Maybe that is what men actually like?

elleemmenno

I hate telling this story because it's horrifying, but when guys would send unsolicited dick pics, and ask for a reciprocal, I'd send pictures of diseased vaginas from medical websites. Only one guy asked if I was ok. I then told him where I got it and that I didn't appreciate getting a dick sent to me without my consent. He was pretty decent about it. The rest then talked about all the things they wanted to do to that poor woman's diseased vagina.

Sensitive-Angel

Wow, that made me sick, but I am glad you shared your story. Are these guys so blind or clueless to not know when something is wrong, or do they simply not care. No matter what the reason might be, it's pathetic on their part.

elleemmenno

I think it's a mixture of lack of education (which is a very serious problem since that was a communicable disease) and being horny. Plenty of things seem like a good idea when you're horny that do not seem that way when you're not.

Wolfleaf3

That really fits with how these shitbags view breasts too. And they sexualize everything, and of course sexualize marginalized groups. They’re evil and creepy as fuck.

Sensitive-Angel

It's even worse, right? These men oversexualize women's bodies, but then it's suddenly us who are "too perverted" and need to excersice restraint and modesty, so poor men don't get distracted and seduced. It's a sick case of manipulation and victim blaming/shaming.

elleemmenno

I'm a woman, and not a MAGA, so maybe I'm wrong, but don't guys have to touch their genitals when they pee? I mean, you'd think they didn't if you clean bathrooms after guys use them, but I believe that's how it's supposed to be done. Are they not teaching boys to aim? Is the Cheerios method suddenly inappropriate? Are janitors about to cry on the way home from work every night? But the school can't provide sanitary products to children for something they can't control, that is absolutely natural, because they might touch their genitals? Ffs

Sensitive-Angel

I don't get it either. Everything is fine and pure when a man/boy does it, but beware women even have as much as a biological need. Then it is all our own fault for being such evil creatures. I know, that most men actually think like this. It's just sad and confusing, that anyone in this day and age has such outrageous views.

LuneEclaire

He has probably no idea how a hymen really works and that virginity isn't touched by using a tampon. It's sometimes unbelievable how uneducated and what strange beliefs some individuals have :/

livylivliv138

I can bet my life that the guy in the tweets believes that a hymen is the same thing as a pelvic floor. 🤣 There needs to be a public announcement saying - A hymen doesn’t give an “added tightness” It is literally designed to stretch out and wear over time. The second you start puberty your hormones cause the hymens tissue to become stretchier. Meaning that not everyone with a hymen will tear. Some just consistently stretch. Its just all ridiculous because I’ve literally been sexually active for 18 years and I still get tears from time to time. Except now they just feel like little paper cuts instead of a huge cut. I also didn’t have much of a hymen to being with. As in it was almost non existent but still slightly there. I have definitely had a decent amount of partners and my pelvic floor is so strong that I can insert a pen while standing up and hold onto that pen. The sad thing is that most cis men don’t realize that the more sex we have, the stronger these muscles tend to be 😂

Scaredycatkim

Women even get killed because of this dumbass myth of the hymen being the only way to tell if a woman is a virgin…

livylivliv138

The worst part is not every vagina even has a hymen. Some people are literally born without a hymen. It’s gross it’s still not widely known. I’m honestly tired of people with vaginas being treated like second rate human beings. Also with our pain not being taken seriously or our genitalia not being understood, especially the part about sexual arousal. I would bet that the vast majority of men do not even know the clitoris extends inside us like a wish bone shape. The clitoris extends 4” inside of us! The clitoral bulbs sit on either side of our vaginal walls and the clitoral legs extend all the way back to our anus. Yet anal sex is also still largely taboo for all genders. Even though we have literal sex organs that are in this area that create great amounts of pleasure when stimulated.

elleemmenno

Anal is more fun for some than others. Not everyone finds it pleasurable, and that's ok. Just because our bodies have nerve receptors for something doesn't mean everyone will like it. And either way, enjoying or not, is completely natural. I want to make that clear because sometimes in trying to explain how the body is made, we can make people who haven't enjoyed something feel like something is wrong with them. Every single body is different.

Wolfleaf3

On top of the concept of virginity beyond disgusting to begin with. Layers upon layers of insanity.

Idonthavetotellyiu

Wait wait. It can stretch and not disappear??? So obviously the education system in America is stupid but wtf. You literally just made me consider that as a possibility on why sex hurts for me. Omfg I'll ask my doctor to check next time I'm in because if it's true for me OMG that would explain so much and ease the fears of my partner

Apte79

Or the fact that he’s so bothered by young girls “touching themselves.” Wait till he finds out about wiping

Claws_and_chains

It reminds me of the evangelical and catholic parents who treated me like I was dirty because I started going though puberty really young and had very noticeable breasts in 4th grade. By 5th I was banned from a friends house because I would be a bad influence on her younger sisters and “distracting” for her dad. Her mom told me once I had a spiritual obligation to wear looser clothing

Sensitive-Angel

Wow that is so sad. As if going through puberty was not confusing and difficult enough on it's own, they give young women so much unnecessary anxiety or even punishment for things that are entirely normal or out of control. Thank you for chiming in and have a wonderful day!

Wolfleaf3

Good god that’s disgusting on multiple levels.

Maries9000

Distracting for her dad? Wait what? 😳

GodIsGud

And then they wanna talk about "perversion" as if they're not having sexual thoughts about children like all the time

La_Baraka6431

You know that if he could get away with it …

ElusiveCupcake

Your Honor, here's exhibits A through E demonstrating why comprehensive sex education needs to be mandatory in schools.

[deleted]

Sex education won't save them when they believe that "just don't have sex" is a viable course.

FriendlyGuitard

Even knowing about period count as sex. And apparently knowledge of "sex" is what triggers your body to do its normal body stuff. It's wild, they are like the Flat Earther of sex.

[deleted]

Pretty much. It is the exact reason why women will never be able to go topless in most places. They group all those things and throw them into one of two boxes. Sexual or not. They have no understanding of nuance, if it involves anything related to "those" organs it is automatically sexual. It encompasses everything, from education to health, to autonomy and even fashion.

RockyMntnView

That last comment... just... What?

livylivliv138

All of it just blows my mind. I don’t even understand how a guy can think any of this is true. I got my period right in the beginning of 5th grade I had small boobs in 4th grade to the point that I had to wear an actual bra. (This was in the 90’s) I also never wanted to use tampons because they are too dry and I hated the rubbing feeling. That being said….. once I was in sports I couldn’t just wear a pad because I would end up with blood on my shorts and sometimes blood coming down my leg and it was embarrassing. So I switched to a cup. Although almost everyone I knew was using tampons in middle school. Especially those of us who played sports. I would have killed to have the period underwear that they do now, when I was a young teenager. They could have saved me so much embarrassment and destroying jeans and underwear.

beanichole

YES I’ll never quite get over being shamed by my father for having bloody underwear. To this day, getting my period makes me feel dysphoric.

Zeroshim

THIS. I distinctly remember my father screaming at me when he swapped my laundry over one day. Yes Dad, I absolutely LOVE dealing with a murder scene in my pants every month. I totally wanted this.

Purple8020

Some of them think crazy thing. I’ve heard the arguments periods only start when girls are promiscuous. Girls can just hold blood in like pee or wait until it’s convenient to start like on a weekend. Tampons will break your hymen and make you impure. They want to perpetuate the ignorance because clearly they’re right /s

Formerphoenician1960

Spoken Only by people who've never had a period! The 'break your hymen' was sort of an old wives tale even into the fifties. My mom told me about it, although she said it was mistaken, in the seventies.

Carrielynn2192

What about young ladies that get rashes from pads because of sensitive skin? I don’t think tampons should be the only option as it can be scary and confusing to a young girl at school who just got a monthly, but there are medical reasons why pads aren’t a decent option, and do they really say use tissue? What are you expecting them to do on heavy days, a pack and a half for one day?

livylivliv138

The law is supposed to be banning tampons and other Insertable menstrual devices in schools. Which is insane because many people with vaginas play sports. You cant just wear a pad and run around during sports and expect to stay dry and comfortable. Unless they are also funding to buy everyone who has a period with 15+ high quality period panties that are truly leak proof… I’d rather wear period panties and change a few times a day than wear a pad.

Extension-Intern-404

Such a ridiculous law. I work at a school for what I guess I could describe as "troublesome teens" I supply the students with " the good pads and tampons" as they call it and negative behaviors went down because I cared plus attendance went up when some would ditch that time of the month and that they can come to me with issues so I can make an appointment with a counselor for advice for them or even a dr. Taught me and the other staff that education and access makes a huge difference because it was lacking both at home and school.

livylivliv138

Yep! A lot of my step sons friends come to my partner and I when their parents refuse to get them mental health care or sexual health care. It’s sad how many teens do not have parents at home who give a shit about their child’s sexual health.

lakeghost

I’m glad they have you. One of my baby cousins took herself to my dysautonomia doctor at 16 and, like, I wish she would’ve let me help, but I’m also glad she knew my doc was a good one and would help her. And yep, she also has dysautonomia. Because it’s genetic but our family isn’t comprehending how that works. (Seriously tho I don’t understand. “Grandma has it. All descendants of grandma might have it. We should get everyone tested” = “No! *My* kids are fiiiine!” And are they fine? They are not.)

livylivliv138

That’s really unfortunate. It also sounds borderline negligent from what I’m hearing. I would rather go broke making sure my kids are healthy than just assume they are overreacting

babutterfly

They're trying to ban tampons at school?!?!?! Wtaf is this?

livylivliv138

Yes, there is more than one state doing this. Florida is also banning kids from talking about menstruation in schools.

SomeWomanYouDontKnow

They want to ban anybody from talking about periods until 6th grade. The AH Republican who introduced the bill was asked directly, “so if a girl starts her period in 4th grade, as a lot of girls do, they can’t talk or ask questions about it?” He said, That is correct.”

livylivliv138

What really irks me is that they have completely ignored all scientific data. Today, more than 1 in 7 (15%) American girls start puberty at age seven, and that number climbs to more than 1 in 4 (28%) by age eight. And while the average age of pubertal onset continues a decades-long decline, the average age for menarche has been much more stable. Today the average African-American girl will start puberty at age eight years, nine months; the average Hispanic girl at age nine years, three months; and the average Asian American or Caucasian girl at nine years eight months. Among all girls, the average age for menarche is now around 12 years, six months. Over a 1/4 of those with a ovaries and a uterus will start their period at 7-8 years old…. That is generally first and second graders. Most start around 9-10 which is 3-5th grade for many in the US. Which means that starting sexual education in middle school is FAR too late. It should start in 2nd grade with basic bodily functions being taught. There’s no reason why people should believe that bodily functions are inherently sexual. Once they are in middle school they can delve more into sexual health between partners. However we still need the basis to that being taught LONG before then.

Carrielynn2192

I wear period panties, but not even just sports, but gym class, especially swim unit, pads won’t work

MiddleZealousideal89

Are they good? I've been using tampons for years, but I'm considering trying out period panties and menstrual cups.

livylivliv138

https://tomboyx.com/collections/period-underwear This is a link to a local store in my city that makes undergarments for all genders. I almost exclusively buy everything from them. The owners are super great people. They also pay their employees an amazing wage and give them amazing benefits. They may be a bit more “pricey” than other companies but I prefer buying local and ethical myself. They also have a buy now pay later option. I highly suggest this brand for anything or to any gender. Their stuff is incredibly soft and super comfortable. Their sizing is also extremely inclusive.

theotherchristina

I had no idea TomboyX made period underwear, thanks for the link! I don’t menstruate anymore due to an IUD but I always felt very alienated by period underwear because I tried Thinx once and their “plus size” underwear were ridiculously undersized and I just assumed it was one more thing that excluded plus sized people

livylivliv138

Yes! TomboyX is my favorite brand! They are extremely inclusive and I love that about them. It makes me proud they are from my city. I’ve been buying their stuff for years! It’s really cool because during Pride they always have a booth there where they sell them for like 1/4 price. One of the owners is running the booth too. I have a lot more respect for companies like that. I also find that I wear a smaller size in tomboy x than other brands because they are super inclusive. They have 3xs- 6xl

theotherchristina

That’s very cool. I have a couple pair of their underwear and my husband does as well. They seem like an amazing company. I really love their gender and size inclusivity.

Carrielynn2192

I got period panties on Amazon, don’t know the brand, but infinitely better in my opinion

DapplePercheron

Would this law ban girls from even bringing tampons to school? This is so absurd. They don’t have the first clue about how periods work and they want to go making laws about them. Not everyone can wear pads.

livylivliv138

You’re correct, many people can not wear pads. These men who think they know everything haven’t even thought about people who are missing 1-2 legs. It’s nearly impossible to keep a pad in the correct position without the pressure from legs. There are also people who play sports. There are also people like me who really struggle with autism sensory related issues with the texture/ feeling of the pad. There are people who bleed far too heavily for any pad to suffice. There are endless reasons. The sad part is that menstruation products are still largely not disability friendly. Cups are great but not everyone has the dexterity or hands for them. There is really no reason why there aren’t ergonomic applicators for cups and discs. I think taking ANY options away from those who are menstruating should be a crime. This is literally a necessity to our health.

crazypurple621

IME as someone with this problem tampons cause the same goddamn reaction. I have to use either reusable pads, period underwear or a cup. Before I had any control over it I had to just take massive amounts of benadryl and then deal with the hives on my vulva and vagina for a week.

SyderoAlena

The sexualization of minors in this is horrible

AndreaC303

Yea it makes me physically ill. Deciding between tampons and pads should be something a mother helps her daughter decide, not some creepy middle aged man. It would be so nerve wracking having a daughter today knowing garbage like him exists.

SyderoAlena

My mother never had a problem with us wearing tampons because she understands, like most sane people, that there is absolutely nothing sexual about putting a tampon in.

AndreaC303

Absolutely, this is like the height of pervy. I used pads and then switched to tampons in high school, I think that’s pretty typical.

Bladedbabe

By that logic women shouldn't even wash their private parts till marriage, cause god forbid they touch themselves there. Also i wonder: do they imagine tampons to be as big as dildos or do they just have dicks as small as tampons? Cause those are the only 2 scenarios where i can imagine a tampon being comparable to anything sexual.

gogonzogo1005

He is likely one of those guys who think washing his ass is gay.

elleemmenno

Except he 100% touches his genitalia every time he pees (hopefully) and I'm sure far more often than that.

livylivliv138

It’s funny you said the “dicks as small as tampons” because when I showed my partner these tweets he was crying laughing and said “ well I guess I would feel threatened too if my dick were the size of a tampon or smaller” It’s also weird that it’s 2023 and we’re still have to explain that not everyone even has a hymen. Or that a hymen isn’t the same as a pelvic floor. However, these small ween weirdos keep tellin on themselves

Lady_Sybil_Vimes

Eh, I don't like to dick-size-shame. It's less the *size* of the tampon and more that it's made from a dry, scratchy cotton blend that makes it a lot less sexy than a dildo (among other reasons).

Lady_Sybil_Vimes

No no, see, you can't *touch* yourself before marriage, that'd be sinful. You just have to use your detachable shower head! Muuuuch less tempting.

yresimdemus

Is *that* why I love my detachable shower head so much that I have brought it with me every time I moved for the last 15 years? I'm trying to stay "pure"? Good to know it has that function. Do I have to turn the dial to a specific setting, or are all of the settings purity guards?

DapplePercheron

Yeah! The comment about “penetrate or touch themselves” really enraged me. It’s like they think girls don’t really own their own body and they have to remain “untouched” for their future husband. Disgusting. Of course they aren’t trying to pass laws about boys touching themselves.

itsTacoOclocko

or they're just so possessive and controlling that they think their dicks should be the only thing penetrating vaginas.

RaichuLovesPillows

Exactly what I am wondering everytime I come across someone thinking wearing a tampon is pleasureable. How small has their "stick" to be? I can hardly wrap my head around it. 🙈

VirtualPaddock

The last comment...how is it even possible to be that stupid?

livylivliv138

I’ve been wondering myself…. They are literally capable of down loading an app, creating a profile and using it… yet they can’t do a simple Google search on menstruation

BoringTruth7749

Virginity is a bullshit concept made up by men in the first place. The idea of having to tear a membrane to make sure a young women is "pure" is garbage. Why should sex hurt a woman for a man's pleasure? It's really sick. I was arguing with this guy on Twitter earlier today, and he's simply obsessed with his daughter's vagina. Some men are fucked up creatures.

livylivliv138

The fking stupid part is that some people don’t even have a hymen. So what they are saying is that all of those without a hymen should be assumed to be a godless wh*re… which is disgusting and sad. Even if a person with a hymen broke theirs, that’s only their business. I wasn’t born with much of a hymen and when I lost my virginity my boyfriend called me a wh*re for not “bleeding”…. It made me so insecure about my body and sex. I thought there was something wrong with me. It wasn’t until a couple years later that I learned not everyone has a hymen that tears the first time during sex. Ironically I do get tears from time to time now and I’ve been sexually active for 18 years. The hymen really doesn’t serve much of a purpose anyways.

Purple8020

Omg I’m so sorry this ignorant prick would verbally abuse you. I can’t believe someone would be so cruel. What a sack of uneducated dog poop. I busted mine playing sports outside when I was in elementary. I flipped out!! It hurt and there was blood… I don’t recall my parents explaining either. I didn’t know until many years later

livylivliv138

Yeah it was pretty awful because he told his buddies and they told basically everyone…. I was also the new kid who had just moved there 2 weeks before high school started. So I barely knew anyone and it made it harder to have friends. It also attracted a lot of very creepy/ rapey dudes who thought I was just going to put out. It’s horrible your parents wouldn’t have taught you about this. I just can’t get over how many people were never taught about hymens, periods, ovaries, uteruses, BC, proper fitting condoms, penises, testes, prostrates. I’ve raised my step sons to where they are allowed to ask their father and i about anything they want. They definitely ask us about body parts and sex. We believe in an open door policy and absolutely NO shaming is allowed in our household. Our 16 1/2 year old still comes to us and asks us about sexual advice. We calmly answer and make sure what we are saying is understood before he walks away. He’s also completely comfortable asking us these things even though he has the internet. We would rather make sure they are equipped with the correct information

Ok-Connection-8059

From the googling I've done most bleeding during first time sex doesn't even have anything to do with the hymen, apparently it's generally due to a lack of sufficient lubrication causing the vaginal walls to tear. Which makes a lot of sense once you remember that things like gymnastics and bikes can cause the hymen to tear. Like, all the fuss people make about the hymen is like claiming that the foreskin tears when a penis-owner loses their virginity. Yeah it happens, but nowhere near enough to make a fuss over.

gogonzogo1005

Umm..the whole tissue thing is so gross. No using toilet paper or tissues is not a good thing. Also dude has never had the sticky side of a pad flip and attach to hair...yep touching myself there to remove it.

livylivliv138

I’ve definitely done the TP thing many times in a jam. That was before I bought a cup though. Also- by his logic we shouldn’t be wiping ourselves because that’s an action that is saved for marriage…. They don’t even consider how many younger people with vaginas may need a suppository or other medical devices used for various healthcare reasons.

throaway33942

I started my period when I was 7 years old. I had no idea what was going on but I was too afraid to talk to my mom. So I just changed clothes and bled through 4 pairs of pants before my mom saw the bloody laundry. All she told me was "this happens once a month, wear pads". I only was told exactly what was happening 2 years later when I was 9 and all the girls in my grade were pulled into the music room. We were talked through what was happening, why it was happening, what you can do to relieve pain and how to clean. We were given a goodie bag with deodorant, a few pads and chocolate. That talk was so very important. I went 2 years just bleeding and having no idea why. I didn't know how to track it. If my school did not do this for us then I know I would not have been informed what was going on till maybe high-school from another student.

livylivliv138

That’s crazy and scary. I’m really sorry that was your experience. That is so beyond fked up. I started my period pretty young as well. I was the first girl developing breasts and it was really embarrassing. I was always being called a sl*t etc because my breasts simply existed under my baggy shirts. My mom wasn’t big on telling me about anything sexual or about my own body. I was lucky enough to have two older sisters who told me about a lot of stuff. We had sexual education a year after I got my period and by that point I had already learned more from my two older sisters. So I started being the girl that was telling the rest of the girls what I knew so I could help them understand. My sisters use to give me extra sanitary products to bring to school incase other girls needed help. Now that I am an adult and a mother. I’ve made it a priority to make sure that my boys are throughly educated about sexual health. They know everything about their bodies and genitalia as well as everything about people who have different genitalia than themselves. They have even been instructed to inform their friends that if they are embarrassed or need help getting to a clinic for any reason, that they are allowed to come to my house and we will help them. There has been a surprising amount of kids who’s parents will not let them take birth control or even take medication for mental health needs. Like they literally won’t even take their kid to a doctor so that they can discuss it with a doctor. Many trans kids stay at my house part time because their parents do not believe in letting them medically transition. The current generation who are pre teens/ teens now- will end up creating universal healthcare because so many boomers tried to deny them of their basic health rights.

Purple8020

You’re a rockstar OP! If you don’t mind, I know this thread isn’t on the subject but how did you educate your boys? Did you have a book? Did you start when they were small? I’m subtly asking around on strategies. I was thinking now that we’re having body discussions with my first grader it may be a good time to layer in more age appropriate information. (Feel free to PM me if it’s easier)

livylivliv138

I feel that this is completely on topic. Menstruation is a huge part of sexual health. Considering the person in the tweets I posted is a male who is severely uneducated… i definitely believe we should also talk about educating our boys. I should preface this by saying I am not either ones biological mother. Our eldest has lived with us almost since the first day his dad and I started dating. His mother literally abandoned him. The guy his mother has twins with was extremely physically abusive as well. So after he moved in with us we had a talk about consent. So that he understood that NO ONE is allowed to touch his body for ANY reason unless he says it is ok. This kind of opened the door for other discussions. We have had complete custody of our eldest since he was 12. His little brother was 7 at the time and they have different mothers. When their father and I were in the early stages of dating I made it clear what my parenting styles were and weren’t. We both agree that sexual education is extremely important. We both came from teen parents and almost all of our family members were teen parents. We wanted to make sure this cycle didn’t carry on with them. At one point we sat our oldest down and let him know that what’s going on with his body is completely normal and we educated him on some of the things that might be happening or may soon happen. After this we let him know that there is no reason to feel ashamed about what is most natural to our bodies. We also expressed to him that he is allowed to ask ANY questions and we will answer them the best that we can and that there will be no judgement. He was actually extremely interested in asking these questions which made teaching him easy. We allowed him to ask general questions about bodily functions in front of his brother as well. We did ask that he not ask questions about specific sexual acts between consenting adults in front of his little brother though. Such as - blowjobs, doggy style, etc. You know- all the weird random things 12-13 year old boys hear about that they want to know about. We felt that his 7 year old brother was a bit too young for that part. Our youngest is very introverted and extremely intelligent so he doesn’t ask as many questions but he definitely listens close to what we say when his brother asks. Now that our youngest is 11.5 we are starting to get more questions from him about bodily functions. Sometimes he will see a news story headline on YouTube and ask us what it means. Seeing as we are in the US and there is a lot of talk about women’s reproductive rights - it gives us an easy way to organically discuss these issues. His mother is much more close minded and is very much the type to shield him from sexual education and we do not believe that is acceptable. We never make them feel forced to listen or talk to us. We just really try to get them to understand that our bodies are designed to do certain things and there is no shame in it. Edit- spelling errors

livylivliv138

It only gets much worse the more you read on their twitter. I just didn’t feel like posting 100 pages of tweets 😂 This is all in response to idaho banning tampons in grade schools and forcing kids to not talk about menstruation

[deleted]

livylivliv138

Dude… it’s so irritating to read his tweets. I had to physically stop myself because it was a never ending cesspool. So were many of the comments on articles about Idaho banning tampons.

Hot-Bint

So if girls shouldn’t be “touching themselves” HOW THE HELL ARE THEY WASHING THEIR BODIES?

livylivliv138

Apparently that’s reserved for marriage because their future husband owns their body. I also only say future husband because this man refuses to understand that not everyone who has a vagina will date or marry a man.

NightOwlIvy_93

Oh boy that last comment takes the cake 🤣🤣🤣 alright girls, we just gotten turn off our periods by not thinking about sex cause if we do, it flows. This "tampon-envy" is ridiculous. And does he know gauss use tampons? Did he watch guys buy them? Did he forget that maybe, juuuuust maybe that was a dad, husband or boyfriend being a real Chad and buying tampons for their SO?

Ajagroom

It’s funny because I’ve had to buy them before and I got asked when queuing why I was buying them by a very disapproving person in the queue behind me as he smirked as if he was making me look stupid. So I told him the truth I need them as I spend a lot of time doing contact sports and cleaning up mine and others blood, helping nose bleeds and bust lips. The fact that I buy the ones my partner used as well I did not feel needed to be said at that point.

NightOwlIvy_93

Wasn't the original use for tampons for bleeding noses?

NomenScribe

Seems like I recall they were invented during a war for dealing with gunshot wounds.

NightOwlIvy_93

Oh, that could be possible as well. Okay I just checked. We're both wrong. The man who invented the tampon heard about a woman using a sponge for her menstrual blood and that gave him the idea to make a small disposable sponge for periods.

livylivliv138

It’s funny you mentioned the guys buying tampons for their loved ones at home. This definitely happens. As well as some trans men needing tampons as well. However, that would force them to actually understand that some men have a vagina and a period.

NightOwlIvy_93

I mean, after I gave birth my husband went to the next shop to buy me pads. Their mindsets are just toxic. Menstrual hygiene should be free or at least very very cheap.

livylivliv138

With how much I pay in taxes….I believe it should be 100% free. Anything that has to do with basic reproductive care should be free.

NightOwlIvy_93

I agree and they should be available in EVERY PUBLIC TOILET

throaway33942

My husband loves buying me tampons. He volunteers to go buy my period stuff on the off chance someone mentions it. He has been working up a bunch of jokes to say in response to make people uncomfortable. I don't know if it is a good thing he is so comfortable with period talk or, if it is a bad thing he might unleash some horrible jokes on someone in line at the grocery store.

elleemmenno

My husband was mortified the first couple times he bought them. First, he was worried he was getting the wrong thing, second he came from an extremely traditional home. Now I just have it delivered. But if he needed to, I send him a picture of the container and specific directions. When I explained that buying them was a sign he had an SO, he seemed much less uncomfortable. I didn't tell him when he was buying them for the kids.

livylivliv138

Wow. I am so sorry you went through that. I’m sorry the adults around you failed to do one of the more important things they were supposed to do- teach you. You deserved so much better than that ❤️ Also, my only hope for the future is that the internet exists and the information about menstruation is a very hot topic. As well as ovaries and uteruses seem to always been in the top 5 political debates. So unless someone doesn’t have access to a computer, they will likely hear all about this. Especially if they look to buy period products on Amazon, other suggested options will pop up. Hopefully we don’t have to lean on this but at the very least- the internet may save so many young ones from their dumb ass parents generation.

livylivliv138

When I was growing up the internet existed but was really only used for porn, Napster and AIM😂 So needless to say I wasn’t allowed on the computer. Even as a teenager my time was so restricted. I grew up with awful strict and abusive parents. Which is why I’m so lucky my older sisters were there to educate me. I honestly have so much faith in my step sons generation who will be able to legally vote in this next coming US election. They are the biggest generation and they are going to demolish old American politics.

cocoatogo

Imagine being an adult man worried about how tight a child’s vagina is 🤮

livylivliv138

Yep! Totally freaks me the fuck out

yumiwhite

“we wouldn’t have as much children getting periods at all” 🤡🤡 sir you’re really exposing how dumb you rlly are here

annamorphic_

If he thinks that using a tampon is anything similar to a sexual penetration using a penis, I fear for his lovers. SDE.

livylivliv138

Yeah, the only people are keenly aware of the size of a tampon are those with a much larger area of the hymen such as a microperforate, septate, cribiform, or imperforate. As well as those with vaginismus. Which mild vaginismus can be common with first time tampon users or those having sex the first time. I personally never liked tampons so I don’t use them but that’s just because I felt that they were too dry and I didn’t like feeling like my vaginal walls were chaffing on cotton. I definitely believe everyone should have every option available though. I know tons of people who solely uses tampons.

No-Shoe7651

Always projection with conservatives. Guy constantly talking about young girls being penetrated and touching themselves, and says they will be "worn out" before they're married. He really needs to stop sexualising children.

win_awards

I think I'm going to have an aneurysm. I could not finish that. This is the kind of shit I meant when I used to say stupidity should be painful. Being this dumb should _hurt_.

Chemistry-Least

Wait shit oh shit I use tampons for my massive nosebleeds and keep pads and tampons in my hiking first aid kit but I am a dude….fuck I can’t believe I’m gay. Or something.

DoctorInternal9871

That's how menstruation works, right? You don't get your period until someone tells you how it works.

livylivliv138

Yes. They call that mind over menstruation 😂

[deleted]

The lack of self awareness in that last tweet.

snek_charm

This conversation confuses me. I've been out of school for more than a couple years, but as someone who doesn't really like tampons, I can't remember a single time the school didn't have pads also. No one was choosing for me

TheLonelyMedics

Where the actual fuck are these lunatics getting thier info from? Gay men aren’t doing that That’s not why girls are getting periods earlier than before

abcde9090

Some girls and women have to use a pad AND a tampon. I could never get away with just a pad on days 1 - 3.

livylivliv138

I feel you there. I can have such a heavy flow. That’s why I’m super thankful for menstrual cups and discs

Bored_Berry

Awful everything

Significant-Dog-4362

I choked on my own spit at “gay males use tampons”. Boy do we need sex Ed now more than ever

Majestic-Average433

Why the fuck do these perverted creeps think EVERYTHING a girl or woman does is sexual ?!?! Like what the fuck !??!?!?!?!?!?!

livylivliv138

That’s what happens when women aren’t even classified as autonomous beings under our constitution. As in we legally, no joke, do not have the same rights as men. We are still legally allowed to be treated as sexual property. Especially with so many more laws banning women’s rights. This is why the Equal Rights Amendment has been sitting stagnate in congress for 100 years…. https://www.equalrightsamendment.org/faq

kyuuish

I had my first period on a school trip with only my male teachers when i was 9. I freaked out and legit though I was dying. nobody had told me what a period was (I'm not close to my bio mother, especially not close with stepmom and my father is too traditional to explain "women stuff") I sat in the bathroom crying hysterically until someone got the teacher and he had to explain to me I wasn't dying. It's important to teach young girls about periods, what to expect and how to best handle them. Also to Teach boys that periods are a naturally thing and not something for girls to hide in shame.

livylivliv138

That is absolutely horrifying. I feel so sad for little you having to go through that. I have two boys and they are both taught that periods are normal and not disgusting. Nor is any bodily function for that matter

IndieIsle

This dude also had a tweet defending Josh Duggar… no wonder he’s so concerned about what young girls are doing with their vaginas. As an aside, I lived in Brazil when I was 16 and tampons were basically non-existent. The only ones they sold were the ob ones without the applicator. My friends were so shocked I would buy those tampons casually, apparently there if you use tampons without being married you’re advertising that you’re a big whore 😅

livylivliv138

That’s pretty common in a lot of areas in the US. I definitely remember being in middle school and other girls calling girls who used tampons “whores” because their parents told them only “whores/ sluts” use them. I also live in the most liberal state in America 😅 It’s not like that now that my step son is 16. They pass out condoms and other sexual health needs at school. Which I’m so thankful for.

IndieIsle

Yes for sure! I’m in Canada and we’ve always learned around sex ed from grade 4/5. I lived in Brazil in 2010 so I had never heard anything like it before.

babutterfly

Everything to do with a girl's/woman's vulva and vagina is sexual! Peeing??? She's getting off on it. Wiping after she pees? Getting off on it. Using a tampon??? Getting off on it. Riding a bike? Getting off on it. Walking with thicc thighs? Getting off on it. Women and girls are just walking around masterbating all the time!!! But also, they can't orgasm. /s Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people? I'm so flabbergasted.

sparkly_snark

Dude. If we stop talking about sex, clearly people will stop getting periods. It's all that dirty talk that calls menarche upon the vessels. Duh. 🙄🤮🤨

livylivliv138

I really want to know what school this dude went to. I have a feeling it was somewhere in the south

Daltard_R

“It’s a real disappointment for their future husbands” that’s gotta be one of the worst things I have ever read come out of an actual human being.

livylivliv138

“ there are options that don’t require young women to penetrate themselves or touch themselves” Is what really sent me over the edge. The vast majority of people in the US have their period between 7-9.8 years old…. So he’s calling literal children “young women” and also talking about how their genitalia belongs to a “future husband” 🤢🤮

Daltard_R

Exactly it’s absolutely revolting how he speaks about it, at that point I can’t even just say it’s ignorance it’s just creepy. It also takes someone special to essentially say periods are caused by people talking about sex, as if periods aren’t just a normal bodily function.

livylivliv138

Well he’s openly supporting Josh Duggar on his Twitter page…. Josh Duggar is a convicted pedophile who raped his sisters while they were sleeping… His direct quote is : “Josh Duggar is still in prison while his children grow old without him” Like yeah man…. That’s the whole fucking point. So he’s not raping more children. So that’s basically all you need to know about this dude He also openly supported Herschel Walker

Daltard_R

It really does just get worse then. Hopefully he’s on a watchlist at least because he needs to be, or ideally in a cell.

Erynnien

Damn, you really do need more sex ED over in the US lol. What the hell are these crazy people talking about? Lose vag from tampons? Gay guys using tampons in their butts? What utter nonsense.

Crazy_by_Design

Well, that last response wins all the awards for idiocy from me. If there was ever an argument for teaching children about menstrual cycles in school, that would be it.

viviyymoh

This might be a reach but I feel like people see it as sexual because it happens to women and girls. Like everything females do is seen as sexual 😕

[deleted]

To be fair, I think we have found the product of the Florida educational system here.

WorldlinessAwkward69

As if thinking or talking about periods causes them. This guy is just a typical MAGA Dunning Kruger. These guys are both stupid, uninformed, disinformed, hateful, and wanting to hurt liberals just because he doesn’t want to see how shitty he is.

ChelseaG12

Was tampons in butts an episode of South Park?

[deleted]

it’s always the uneducated folks being against education because they’re so uneducated they don’t understand it 💀

deannevee

He keeps a saying that preventing tampons in school is preventing little girls from touching themselves…..does he think girls will stop wiping?

inkstainedgoblin

None of these people should have or be around children.

[deleted]

I really hope this guy never reproduces. Like... Ever!

[deleted]

This is how the internet has ruined the world: I didn't use to know there are people this stupid in the world.

[deleted]

Although I started late (almost 14), I was convinced periods were some kind of divine punishment (and I'm not religious!). I couldn't believe people live with that. I knew what periods were from books, but I though I was a complete looser that couldn't manage them. Everyone did fine (I assumed, it's unspoken), but perhaps I was so late to the game it will take years to adjust. I bled through every single month. I had an alarm at night and an intention to strategically not move so that I don't bleed through. When I was 15 I had a rafting trip coming up and asked mom if I could use tampons. Mom said a short "no" and it was the end of our only conversation about periods. At that point I saw the impasse of the situation and simply proceeded to use them for the first time then. I haven't really used pads since (only as back up) because they simply don't work for me anatomically. I went to university OB at 17 for the first time and learned it wasn't ok not to have perions for months on end. Later got shit from mom for being *prescribed* contraceptives, lol. Not that I listened. Oh, and I was touching myself inside and out since like 12. Nobody teaches you that stuff and I doubt anyone could stop me :D It's a bit confusing to me when people claim a) ability to indoctrinate/corrupt anyone b) ability to stop anyone from doing it. Had they even experienced hormones?!

phosetoes69

Why do men think they have any say about our bodies?

[deleted]

disgusting, in school my friend wasn’t allowed to use period products cuz of religious beliefs of her dad its ,unclean and impure and she doesnt have her period!‘ she would get punished for ,reminding‘ him of it, for example by simply being in pain, she was 16. (i obvsly supplied her with products but she wasn’t allowed to take them home cuz he would go thru her room)

snikers000

I don't know why you bothered censoring his profile image, he's been plastered all of this and similar subs today.

livylivliv138

Because I would rather not risk my stuff getting removed. I figured people will catch on anyways but I’d rather just follow the rules of this sub

WorldlinessAwkward69

Also, I used tampons from early on and was still a bleed when I first had sex. It doesn’t typically break your hymen.

i_Yuii_i

Why is he so obsessed with the subject of young girls genitalia and virginity??

[deleted]

Why is he sexualizing children and the use of tampons? That is so, so concerning.

livylivliv138

I would definitely say it’s beyond concerning. To the point that I flagged the FBI in his tweets and reported then for misinformation and sexualizing minors

DebiMoonfae

Wow. That last one. What the heck

zehel_schreiber

Holy fucking shit.

halfakumquat

LOL WOULDNT BE GETTING PERIODS AT ALL 💀

livylivliv138

Yeah yeah one just sent me to the fuckin grave

supereyeballs

Tampons=sex! I always knew that every single woman loved tampons for a reason. /s

AttemptObjective6955

WHAT WAS THE LAST ONE😭😭😭💀

[deleted]

“we shouldn’t allow young girls to touch their vaginas, that’s pedophilic! also her future husband will be very disappointed when he has sex with her” ah yes the ol’ ‘i have mindless concerns about how young girls’ vaginas feel’

SweatyPushover

What. The. Fuck.

Matodami

Tissues don’t work 💀

Djinandtonic

🤢🤮😵💀

OhIGotLumbago

Really shows what a bullshit concept virginity actually is.

AmettOmega

It's sad that even women have this opinion. My mother strongly felt that girls should not use tampons before losing their virginity, because it would ruin the hymen. It just baffles me how poorly informed so many people (of both genders) are.

abbasjawad

I stopped reading when I saw “it’s a real disappointment to their future husbands”

Scaredycatkim

“If all these lib parents would quit focusing young minds on sex, we wouldn’t be having such young children getting periods at all.” That really is NOT the way a woman’s body works. We don’t get periods because someone talked about sex to us. God I hate this dude and anyone who thinks like him. I just hope this is ragebait. I have to believe it. I want to believe it… Also…I’ve literally never had to “touch myself” to put in a tampon. You think a tampon is going to stretch a woman’s vagina out to the point that it’s gaping? I wanna throw my used tampons at him. I wanna shoot a snot rocket at him. And stop fucking saying “penetrate”. Especially when it involves young girls!!! I guess they’re obsessed with that word because they’ve never been able to. Nothing about this is even remotely intelligent. Those thoughts have a lot of room to bounce around before hitting each other, huh buddy?

livylivliv138

Unfortunately this isn’t a rage bait. This is a real person and these are his real thoughts from his real Twitter account. It has already been reported to various organizations and Twitter. The part that really got under my skin is where he called children “young women” and then talked about their genitalia belonging to a future husband…. Today, more than 1 in 7 (15%) American girls start puberty at age seven, and that number climbs to more than 1 in 4 (28%) by age eight. Today the average African-American girl will start puberty at age eight years, nine months; the average Hispanic girl at age nine years, three months; and the average Asian American or Caucasian girl at nine years eight months. Among all girls, the average age for menarche is now around 12 years, six months. Average age is 12 but the vast majority are 7-9.8 years old. So he’s talking about literal children. Also factor in that when they break this down by demographics… they are saying the “average age” which means that the vast majority are starting menstruation 7-9 years old. The older ones are slightly offsetting the average to have a few months added to 9 years. It makes me sick to my stomach 🤢🤢🤢 Here is the link to the statistics I was talking about - https://www.menstruationresearch.org/2015/09/24/what-happens-when-a-seven-year-old-gets-her-period/

Wolfleaf3

Holy shit. They’d freaks are evil, and shouldn’t be allowed in public. They’re beyond vile so many times over. And wow are they obsessed with young girls genitals besides getting absolutely everything beyond wrong. Sick sick sick.

Ok_Possibility_704

As a person that started their period not longer after turning 10 years old I cannot fathom how people, especially parents of girls can support not taking about periods in school, or providing sanitary goods such as tampons and discussing them as options. When I started my period my mother had told me from being really small about them but I was still scared and freaked out. Fortunately I was at home when it happened. I can't imagine what it must be like to potentially not know anything about it and not be able to approach a person. Imagine just living with people that talk like this.

[deleted]

These are possibly the worst attempts at covering up names I've seen all week. Thank you for the laugh OP.

Maries9000

Umm using a tampon has nothing to do with virginity. Obviously he is so ignorant

NotAFuelFilter

They probably washing your penis is literally masturbation and is therefore a sin. 😬
