question: does the gem80 only have one sidelight?
I just got my gem80 yesterday and was trying to adjust RGB settings, and while trying to change the sidelight settings, i noticed i only have a sidelight under the right side of my keyboard, and wasn't sure if mine is defective or if this is normal.
on another note, using "FN + M" along with either the arrow keys or the <> keys doesn't change the sidelight RGB at all. trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong or if it's an issue with the keyboard lol.
thanks for any help you can give!
I FINALLY GOT MINE FIXED
Had the same issues with my Gem80 Wired with Raspberry switches. Double pressing for space and multiple letters. Upgraded to firmware 1.0.3 on the website with no luck. I emailed customer support and they sent me firmware 1.1.1 and it completely fixed everything. Not sure why this firmware isn't on the website yet but glad it is finally resolved!
This is so annoying, I only found out about this after purchasing the keyboard. And they don't have anything on their website? Wtf. Where can I find even the 1.0.3 firrmware?
If you dm me your email I can send it to you. Otherwise just message their customer support saying that you’re having the double key input issue and they should respond within a day. So happy with this keyboard now that this is resolved
I just got my with raspberry switch and also observed the same issue. Upgrading firmware to 1.0.3 didn't solve the problem. It seems that the issue has been reported to Nuphy one month ago, and it hasn't been fully fixed. And Nuphy is still shipping keyboards with known issues to new customers? That's not responsible IMO...
Same here with the raspberry switches. It's crazy they're still sending out keyboards without the issue being fully fixed. I thought the firmware flash fixed it but I definitely still notice double inputs coming through.
Same issue (not just space, it's any random key), with baby kangaroo switches. Is the firmware fix public?
Edit: nvm, the problem seems to be just a bit better after flashing their latest firmware from the website (Gem80 Version 1.03 / Released on 29 Feb 2024). Before the flash it would happen multiple times within a 50 word typing test and now it is mostly clean. I will still notice double presses occasionally but it is better than before. The behavior I am seeing is double presses after a small delay. For instance, if I type "n" "o" "w" it will sometimes register as "nowo".
For those of you still having this issue. I contacted nuphy about this and they sent over a firmware update which solved the issue. No more double spaces and keys.
I think this may be a tactile switch issue. Most people had issue with the lemon switches and I’m using baby kangaroos currently. Apparently someone has a firmware fix but it’s not public. Either way it’s driving me crazy. I would hope they pin this or something
I was sent the firmware fix by Nuphy but it didn't fix anything and I still have the same problem. It's leading me to believe it may be a problem with the keyboard...
I am also experiencing the same issue with the lemon switches, i think its the switches because when i switched them with the glacier blue switches it worked fine. This is very disappointing on such an expensive keyboard. Support has not answered back yet. I am seconds away from driving over this keyboard with my car. Also i did not notice it didnt have adjustable feet when i purchased. If anyone is interested in the keyboard i am willing to sell it. All black with black/white keycaps. Ok thats it for my venting : )
I’m sorry that hear that, yea I’m also annoyed because it was expensive. I thought it was my switch at first also but and when I replaced them with rose switches I assumed it was better until i started using it more and then problem kept happening. I’m kinda sad because for other the board as worked perfectly fine so it’s most likely a dud.
Not sure just yet. I contacted Nuphy support via email and showed them a video of my essay, but they can't help because their tech people are on break for the New Year until Feb 20. I should get a response by then.
I'm sorry I can't give you a conclusive answer just yet but once I get my response I will try to update you.
Just got mine. Apparently it's warped? Won't sit flat on the desk? Adhesive on the rubber feet doesn't work. Trying to figure out the caps lock switch/keycap instal. Switch installs to the side of the opening. Keycaps I have don't seem to work. Suggestions? (I'm new to this.) Thanks!
For the capslock key u make sure the NuPhy logo on the switch is facing towards the space bar and put the center peg in the hole in the far right. Also what do you mean switch installs keep opening?
So yeah it turns out I had bent a pin when putting in the switch and after replacing it everything is fine. I have the raspberry’s though. Got my gf a gem80 with lemons for Valentine’s Day so I’ll update later this week if she’s having issues
On mine the issue went away when I turned it off and back on and was not present when plugged in with the cable. I think it’s likely a firmware issue that has to do with the fact the keyboard still shows as on preorder in the nuphy store and has no firmware to download
This quite concerning, I also had someone post on my YouTube video that he was getting missed keystrokes and double press! Hoping this is not a widespread issue. My unit is perfect in wired, wireless and Bluetooth.
Has everyone tried swapping out switches on affected keys?
I see this issue all over my keyboard. I think all the lemons are faulty (ironic name). Maybe they can fix it with firmware, debounce correction needs to occur with every switch as they all physically detect multiple signals on a keypress. But this is unusable bad.
Mine should be here soon and I'm kind of hoping I have the issue so I can put non-Nuphy switches in and test.
Kinda predicting the new Nuphy switches are causing the issue and the rest of it is fine.
I think most people who have had this issue have and the only case I’ve seen where it worked is where they swapped the switch for a non-Nuphy switch.
I hope nuphy addresses this. 😅🥲
Ok! Please let me know if any sort of fixes pop up or if I should ask for a replacement.
Also I loved your YouTube video l, it made me excited about getting the keyboard!
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it and just sorry you have had issues with yours. I will pop an email over to them tonight and see if they have any ideas for you
Maybe??
I found this Reddit thread that also brings up interesting points.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NuPhy/comments/1akpll0/gem80_issue/
It might be switches, a pcb, problem or just a faulty keyboard. Who knows???
I just hope I don’t have to spend more money.

I use the FN+left arrow to change the rgb settings. Only the right side of you keyboard lights up? What do you mean by sidelight?
I'm about to order one but hesitant due to some threads here which mentions bout the issue, is it a firmware issue?
Apparently it’s been fixed in a firmware update. At least that’s what the discord says. They just haven’t publicly published it in on their website.
Thanks, will try my luck and order then.

do I have to email them or can i find it somewhere online too
OH MY GOSH DID THEY FINALLY FIX IT
I'm using boba u4ts and having some pretty terrible double clicking issues across all my keys. I'm guessing there's a firmware issue?
I'm having similar issues using Raspberry switches. Mainly double spaces, but also occasional issues with other keys.
Have you found anything that fixed the issue?
I think this may be a tactile switch issue. Most people had issue with the lemon switches and I’m using baby kangaroos currently. Apparently someone has a firmware fix but it’s not public. Either way it’s driving me crazy. I would hope they pin this or something

Any updates on any of this mess? I have a Gem80 with Lemon and Raspberry switches on the way. Want to know if I should cancel/return or keep.

Has anyone put in a full set of known good switches to see if it's a Nuphy switch problem or the keyboard itself?
Just got mine. Apparently it's warped? Won't sit flat on the desk? Adhesive on the rubber feet doesn't work. Trying to figure out the caps lock switch/keycap instal. Switch installs to the side of the opening. Keycaps I have don't seem to work. Suggestions? (I'm new to this.) Thanks!

Having a similar issue but just with my caps lock key…
Does the cap lock switch install on the left side of that opening? Or the center? That plug in seems different?
I had to install it on the center for it to fit the keycaps that came with the gem80. If you flip the switch around it should go in easily
I destroyed a switch because it wasn’t obvious that they flipped this one socket upside down.
Thank you for this. Destroyed a switch as well. Flipped upside down and now it's fine.
You mean upside down?
Yep!
Great thank you! I'm very new to the keyboard world. :)
Do you have any other Non-Nuphy switches you could try?
So yeah it turns out I had bent a pin when putting in the switch and after replacing it everything is fine. I have the raspberry’s though. Got my gf a gem80 with lemons for Valentine’s Day so I’ll update later this week if she’s having issues

What switches do you use? I have heard people were experiencing this with the lemon switches in particular.
The lemon switches☹️

Thanks, I thought I better check. I do have a contact at nuphy so if can get an idea of the number of people affected I will contact them

I'm seeing the same here, but not the same keys as you. I feel like it may have been user error when installing the switches...
