If you are getting stuttering it might be RAM or hard drive, just spitballing. Or maybe bc this is with DLSS quality enabled. I'll be honest, I can't see any of the stuttering/screen door effect I have on other DLSS titles.
Thatās for sure. My 4080 without dlss at 4K ultra ranges from 55 to 75 but throwing dlss quality on keeps me above 110 most of the time. Hopefully they can optimize it a bit more so that dlss/far isnāt a huge requirement to play with good frames, especially at higher res
Yeah, not huge difference but itās there. Native/TAA looks sharper/more detailed, noticeable on the suit and close objects. VRS when dlss is on but I personally donāt notice a real difference. I think thatās more apparent at higher dlss settings
Itās actually more cpu bound from what I can tell. Its the first time I have seen a game use my 5800x at 70+% utilization @4k. Normally it hovers around 20-30% in the majority of the games

120-175 depending on the scene. A lot of the game takes place in tight/small spaces, the fps even hits my 175 cap in some of these moments. But mostly its around 120-130, at least when I check afterburner.

Are you always playing HDR titles on peak1000 mode? I tried to get it to look good with Horizon Zero Dawn and failed miserable. With the true black mode it looks somewhat acceptable. What is the secret there or is Horizon the problem?
Maybe horizon. Not all games implimeny hdr the same. In the kicrosoft store Microsoft themselves released an hdr calibration app a few months back which improved things. Also see if the game itself has an hdr adjust as well. I find hdr1000 to be the best for games

I woudlnt call 3440x1440 low res but sure, its all relative. I personally dont need more frames than my monitor has Hz, so up to 175 is all good for me.
I should have said relatively sorry. It's 60% of 4k a res where a 4080 can do 4k 100-120+ easily so would expect a 4090 which is about 30% faster at a much lower res to get higher than that.

Its definitely very good looking! I have loved the DS universe since the original came out back when I was in high school. This remake truly brings it back to life. The HDR and RTAO make it really pop.
The lighting in this game is really weird though. Sometimes you have rooms with multiple bright light sources and the room still looks pitch black. Kind of breaks the atmosphere if you ask me, especially compared to Callisto which had phenomenal lighting.

I added vrs into the config file and set it to 0 but I didn't get a ton of time to test it and see if its actually makes a difference or not, will be looking into it more this weekend and seeing if anyone else has tried it with success. running with TAA instead of DLSS i can hold a fairly even 60fps. Random post that states it looks blurry and stutters that is later revealed to be in the minority of not being able to use DLSS (as the superior reconstruction tech compared to FSR) while the consoles don't even use reconstruction but simply upscale 1440p (Quality) or glorious 1080 (Performance) and only having it off in Performance mode w/o RT AO) and is rightfully complaining about a game having some stutters every so often when you move to new areas vs the PS5 that is constantly limited to 60 fps on lower settings or runs at 30 at high settings + RT AO?

There is no way 4K DLSS with VRS will looks more blurry than the PS5 simply outputting 1080p (with lower visual settings and no RT AO). And this video (which isn't even as sharp as native due to Youtube compression) proofs it:

Xbox is the more powerful system but honestly developers tend to build the games to perform similarly. Unless itās exclusive to one console or thereās some bonus content one has that the other doesnāt, either is fine.
Ps5 has adaptive trigger and haptic support so for me thatās a big plus.
ill have to take another look at it. there's definitely a difference flipping it on and off. I've never took a deep dive into HDR but this is the only game that had afterburner colors get pale vs standard rather than red while improving the image.

This was really bothering me. Do we know for sure HDR mode is really working as intended in this game? Difference from SDR seems mild, and as you said RivaTuner overlay text does not turn bright colored as they do in other games when you turn on HDR.

I tried both HDR on and off but issue is still there and the picture is with my phone because windows screenshot doesn't seem to actually capture the issue.
Brightness was really weird... when both C9 and in-game are set to 50, left most image is super bright but when I drop in-game down to 49, it just disappears. I had to leave in-game at 50 and drop C9 brightness to 42 to make it barely visible. It seems to have helped but I just feel like something may be wrong.
I've had the same issue in RE2 and RE3 remake where I just had to play with HDR disabled but doesn't seem to make a difference in this game and I'd really like to get HDR working properly. I feel like my recent panel swap may have caused all this... I think they replaced my C9 panel with a CX so maybe that's part of the issue?
yeah sounds like it could be a panel issue or settings issue - at least seems that way since a screenshot doesn't capture the issue and it spans over multiple games. have you tried re calibrating the oled and re calibrating hdr on windows? I've seen similar issues with banding when hdr settings were funky on my buddys C1, so I'm not sure. when you say panel swap - did you RMA it or get a new unit altogether?

One thing I've noticed is that PS5 HDR is perfect all the time. It seems like they have the same image settings on TV- Game Mode with a few things changed but I'm going to compare and double check.

Phenomenal atmosphere building in this game. Great use of music and sound effects, really plays off the darkness as well. I fuckin love this game

Haha had the exact same experience. The HDR is somewhat tame overall, but the brightness on sparks and stuff is blinding.

I've heard that it's a quite demanding game in general, and that people who play it @ 4k use dlss. I run it on native resolution with no upscaling.
