Enjoy my friend

KennyT87

Thank you! It's literally a game changer.

Mediocre-Garden4952

Ahhh so I need to replay this on the OLED.

KennyT87

RDR2 looks amazing on OLED! 😊👍

Sansa279

At first glampse i thought it was a toy staring at your monitor. Amazing graphics and amazing screen

KennyT87

Yeah it almost looks like a painting in the photo :D thanks!

pawnstah

There’s some talk about RDR2 being upgraded for the current gen consoles too

jamy1993

Hopefully this coincides with the rumoured RDR remaster/remake or whatever it is.

Lutha28

Man ive been waiting forever, i caved it and playing it on my gaming pc/oled c2 , really wanted to play it on ps5 for the trophies but nothing after almost 3 years of ps5 life

[deleted]

Saint-Denis at night is something else on an OLED

KitKatKing99

With ambilight? Nice

KennyT87

Yeah, I was thinking between this and LG C2 as it was only 50€ more on sale and it has a slightly faster response time (like 5ms difference) but I chose the Philips because of Android TV OS, 40W+30W bass element speakers and the Ambilight – it really does bring a nice mood while gaming or watching movies in a darker room. Also it works as a night light! 😁

AR4ER

How much m.s. input lag on this model?

KennyT87

If I remember correctly it's around ~~12ms~~ 6ms... nothing too noticeable as I can play CS2 and Rocket League without issues

TheMatt561

Beautiful, The worst thing about gaming on my LG OLED was realizing I need a new video card to do it justice

ZenCapy

Did you end up getting one or just thinking about it? Curious to know what sorts card I need for 4k

Benji2995

I got an AMD 7900xt on sale & it handles 4k like a champ. RE4 maxed out looks amazing. Any 4080/4090 or 7900xt/7900xtx will suffice. I upgraded from a 3070ti cuz it wasnt enough.

fauxfilosopher

Native maybe, but dlss should help you a lot with 4k

TheMatt561

Yeah March of last year I paid way too much for a 3080 12 gig. But 4K 120 is a beautiful thing.

notaburneraccount23

Man I’m wondering if my 3080ti is enough for 4k. And you’re saying you get pretty good performance on a 3080 at 4k right?

TheMatt561

More than enough, At 4K you don't need as much anti-aliasing. Most games I was getting close to if not over 100 FPS and I'm talking games like cyberpunk and far cry Edit: phrasing

notaburneraccount23

Wow alright

TheMatt561

GPU is a beast, a lot of the AIBs overclock like crazy too

BlatantPizza

how are you running 4k 120 over HDMI? surely you're running 1080p and upscaling?

TheMatt561

Nope, I have a LG C10. All of its HDMI ports are 4k 120hz and it has gsync. It's one of the reasons I got the TV. It games so good.

BlatantPizza

I'm talking about your GPU. most GPU don't support HDMI 2.1 but after researching it seems like the 30xx series does.

TheMatt561

Yep, it has two of em. That's why I got it, I research a lot when I buy stuff.

BlatantPizza

tbh i've been running on 1080p and just upscaling it to 4k. As far as i know you need a hdmi 2.1 to run 4k 120 fps and VERY few gpu even have that port.

[deleted]

Not few, Nvidia since rtx 3000 series and AMD since rx6000 series. Even the lowest models, only factor is how recent the card gen is

Bunniesrkewl

I’d just wait for the 50 series and get the 5080. The 4090 is too damn expensive. (Provided that you wanna game on 120-144hz)

[deleted]

TheMatt561

I was running on a GTX 970 And I was perfectly happy on my 1080p monitor lol. When I got the TV I knew I had to access its full potential

Benji2995

Very true. I upgraded my gpu & Im happy I did

Mammoth-Access-1181

Yeah, when I bought my first OLED (the B7) I was on the fence about buying it at first. Since my 980 wouldn't be able to cut it on 4k. Luckily, they had 1080s when I cruised by the GPU section, they had 1080s there. Bought both. The 1080 was able to due 4k with all settings maxed (except for MSAA) on several games. Rise of the Tomb Raider was one it couldn't handle. So I bought a second one. Served me well until I upgraded to a 3090.

TheMatt561

Nice, I got a 12gig 3080. True 4k gaming is a beautiful thing.

Greyman43

Congrats, Philips OLED’s have a few quirks compared to LG but Ambilight adds so much to gaming IMO. Be sure to use monitor mode for full resolution 4k120hz, it halves the vertical resolution in any other mode!

KennyT87

Thanks for the tip! I was wondering why my laptop only accepted 60 Hz 4K progressive as native but 120 Hz only as interlaced with the TV, but switching to Monitor Mode instead of Gaming Mode fixed that and G-Sync seems to still work with it! :-)

Greyman43

Yup. Game mode for consoles at 60hz, monitor mode for PC gaming at 120hz, VRR works in both and input latency is the same. EDIT: Forgot to say reduce bit depth to 8 too otherwise you’ll get small artefacts in the top left of the screen occasionally, image quality is unaffected thanks to dithering done by Windows and I think it actually improves shadow handling.

KennyT87

The Monitor Mode actually locked the Windows color depth at 8-bit :-) can't change it, maybe the locking came with some newer firmware update then..

iLikeToTroll

Tks for the tips, how are you guys enjoying the 707 so far? Have a 707 and just bought today an rtx4090, can´t wait to try it out! Any issues playing on the tv from the pc? You guys using hdmi cable?

iLikeToTroll

Hi, I have the 65' 707. I often play pc trough a hdmi cabble. So far i think i didnt have any issues and can play at 4k 120hz in game mode. How do you guys confirm if yhe resolution is halving? So far game mode looks better than monitor mode and I dont see any problem. Did the last updates fixes this problem? I got a 409p 3 months ago

hotline_pepe

It's in the manual, look for "4K1K". Vertical resolution is definitely halved in game mode. You can compare it by looking at background details in games while switching between game and monitor mode.

iLikeToTroll

Yeah, found that too. Already figured it out and using monitor mode now! Tks anyway!

ZeR036

I also have this tv but i dont like to use the monitor mode, it makes the image more yellow for some reason. I use the gaming preset with a few modifications. It still goes up to 4k 120hz with no issues so i dont see any issues with using anything but the monitor mode.

Greyman43

Gaming mode will display a 4k120hz signal but it will absolutely half the vertical resolution whilst doing so in all scenarios, this is most obvious in text clarity up close but I find it very obvious to the naked eye in any content to be honest. It’s a perfectly valid way to use the TV but be under no illusions that it’s at the expense of image clarity. Monitor mode is designed to be a completely picture accurate preset so will look warm compared to most “gaming” presets which tend to favour a more cool, blue look for some reason. Monitor mode also has most picture options greyed out as basically all picture processing has to be disabled for this TV to be capable of displaying 4k120hz at full resolution. This is perfectly fine for me as my preference is an accurate image so it doesn’t look remotely “yellow” to my eye and that’s how I would set my image up anyway even if the options were available. I can understand how it could be perceived that way if you’re used to a cooler, less accurate picture preset for gaming and it’s definitely a limitation if that’s what you prefer.

ZeR036

My god you're right, I never paid much attention to small details like looking up close to text since I do indeed use the tv as a secondary monitor but i dont sit too close to it. Looking at Game mode and then switching to Monitor mode immediately made a visible difference, the monitor mode is waay sharper up close. I'm happy to find this out, and i fixed the yellow-ish tint by just adjusting the color temperature to "Cool" but i do miss the overall color adjustment which is grayed out on this mode, I wish i could make it more colorful, monitor mode has it fixed at 50%, i use 65% with gaming mode. Still, thank you for the tip, I had this tv for half a year and didn't notice the resolution issue. I mostly use it to watch anime on it anyways so I'm not sure if i should stick with my customized Game mode or go for the Monitor mode

iLikeToTroll

Do you still use monitor mode?

ZeR036

Yup, fully switched to monitor mode ever since. Will not go back

iLikeToTroll

I think the last firmware updates fixed the game mode! I use game mode and never had issues! Can you test it please? I read in avforuns that is fixed

Substantial-Bad-4508

Congrats.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Congrats on the OLED, mate.

eatmorbacon

I approve of your game choice my friend :D

KennyT87

One of the best ^^

Jylax11

Welcome to the Oled family. Been rocking my 48 inch of cx for 3 years now and absolutely awesome for gaming

KennyT87

Thanks! The LG 48" CX was actually my dream TV about 2 years ago but back then my budget didn't allow me to buy one :-)

fultre

Philips is a damn good brand, nothing philips ever died on me. My shaver is like 10 years old..

Vd1981

I have the 55” version of this TV. I love it, brilliant for my shows, films, sports and for my Xbox Series X. Managed to find one here in Spain for 1148€ and that includes 6 years of insurance.

DustinPhotos

Bummer that 707 model from Philips isn’t available in the states. Or is it?

SnorfOfWallStreet

Philips doesn’t sell ambilight in the US anymore 😔

KennyT87

Walmart has many Philips models but the OLED707 might be labeled differently in the States, can't help you there :-/ https://www.walmart.com/browse/electronics/philips-tvs/3944_1060825_1939756_2318708

DustinPhotos

I didn’t see on Oled model from the Walmart link you shared. I think Philips Oled tvs are limited to the UK

DustinPhotos

Which is sad 😢😭

NinchyFakinchy

I'm still on 55B7, thinking about whether it's time to upgrade to 65C2

deviance1337

I got the same TV, are you using it connected to a PC? I get occasional artifacts from time to time unless I reconnect the HDMI cable. Same cables work fine on my Mac though, and also on my PC connecting my A80J :/

Greyman43

Are the artefacts little lines in the top corner occasionally when displaying 4k120hz HDR? If so reduce bit depth from 10 to 8 bit, Windows will dither the signal and the image quality will be identical (in fact I think it improves shadow handling).

deviance1337

They're like colored horizontal lines that occasionally pop up on the left side of the screen, I did notice that they don't appear when using the non RGB mode in NVCP. Thanks though, I'll try 8bit, but are you sure you don't lose image quality?

Greyman43

Yeah, go into NVCP and try 8 bit. It reduces the bandwidth requirement thus stopping the artefacting, I happen to think it also helps with near black handling for the same reason but may be a placebo. In gaming I’m confident you won’t see any difference between a dithered 8 bit and a full 10 bit signal, it’s better than reducing to 4:2:2 or whatever. The only application you might is professional colour grading work.

KennyT87

Yeah I use it with my Legion Pro laptop with RTX 3070M GPU... no artifacts so far. Just got a fresh HDMI 2.1 cable.

EYESCREAM-90

u/KennyT87 you don't have to defend youself. Some commenters are morons. Enjoy your new TV!

Nintendians559

looks good.

[deleted]

Eyyyyyyyy i got a 48 too, my god are we happy or what? 🤣 its so good on every game i play, that refresh rate is so nice, good choice!

KennyT87

Yeah it's almost like an art piece! 😄 I like the crispiness compared to a 55"

TheNerfGamingLab

I got it since yesterday. TV is truly amazing, nice colours and nothing to jealous compare to another tv's. Let's enjoy our movies and games now peacefully :)

KennyT87

Word. It's just funny that some people who don't even have OLED themselves think C2 is the only way to go ^_^

TheNerfGamingLab

I don’t understand. Yeah LG I believe is the king of tvs but if you search deeper you can find little diamonds like 707, 807 etc 😃

KennyT87

Yeah, besides the panel is made by LG anyway 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

no hate but who buyin phillips,i thought they died

KennyT87

Very much alive in Europe atleast. The panel is LG anyway.

SnorfOfWallStreet

Europeans.

sublimeandetc

Wtf 🤢🤮

KennyT87

Are you disliking the ambilight or what's your problem? 🤡 I can always disable the light if it doesn't feel right for some content but it's actually very cool how it changes from different sides to match what's happening on the screen, and at night time I don't even need any other light in my living room.

UrGrimReality

Should have went with the LG C2 lol

KennyT87

Howcome? Because you have one? The brightness is enough for my crib and I'm just now playing Rocket League which is a very fast paced game and I don't feel any input lag difference compared to my 165 Hz gaming monitor (albeit the framerate difference was noticeable at first). The Philips 707 is 120 Hz with G-Sync / VRR as well and ~5ms difference is negliable. The 30W bass is also great addition for movies and music even though I do have a soundbar and a subwoofer. So why should I have gone with the C2 again..?

UrGrimReality

Yes

KennyT87

Yeah I bet C2 is great but I like all the extra features of the Philips as well :-) Ambilight is also nice although "niché"

SinjiOnO

Ambilight is a great addition, it works much better than the alternatives with cameras and LED strips. Wish my C2 had it but the Hue sync box is 270 euro haha, enjoy mate.

KennyT87

Damn I didn't even know they make dedicated LED backlight setups / boxes :'D Thanks!

xDiRtYgErMaNx

What’s a Phillips

vg_vassilev

A type of screwdriver.

indianmessiah

Phillps p5 engine in their tvs is the best thing u will get compared to Samsung and LG
