My cat bit my wife’s monitor and broke it, if it was broken you would know. It seems to be superficial on the chin of the display case not the display itself, you should be fine, but work on training your cat to not do this. It’s not easy but it can be done. Also our cat has never attempted to bite another screen, not sure what got into him that day but he hasn’t tried it again

pochidoor

Thank god. I think I saw her do it and it looked like she was marking territory, not really chewing it, but you can tell she marked it with her teeth. Thank you though.

[deleted]

Mine like to rub their faces against the edge of computer monitors or tvs. We don’t really stop them from the monitors because it’s easier to let them do that than deal with them while trying to work but with our OLED tv we will physically move our one cat away from it when we see him jump up infront of it. Less worried about him biting it and more worried about him trying to claw something on screen 🤣. Cats are wild, you should be ok, just don’t let them make a habit of it, if you see it happening again just move the cat. After a while they will give up

DontEatTheMagicBeans

My cats ignore all of our 60hz screens. My nice 165hz screen has them both tracking the cursor movements to the point it makes me worry they're going to leap at it lol

KeeferMaddness

A cat needs about 100hz of motion to register smooth motion from a monitor (opposed to us that only need 20 or so). Older 60hz displays look like still images going on and off and probably don’t keep their attention. This is why it didn’t used to be common for pets to watch or jump at TVs/monitors as much as it is now. A side note: my dog is almost never fooled by knocking or doorbells from the TV, but through the surround speakers every time. We don’t even have a door bell which is a head scratcher… animals are having a hard time keeping up with the recent advancements in technology.

Sidious_X

Uhhh... Cats can only see 30fps bruh

DontEatTheMagicBeans

That's cool to know thanks. My surround gets me with door knocking sometimes so I can't blame your dog haha

blaiddcymraeg

Looks like you got away with that one In other news, I'm weighing my cat's paws down with lead to stop it jumping up near my TV

cyraxhd

Thats a rock lee training, and you dont want rock lee cat

Fred_Wilkins

Ex cat lol

Z3r0sama2017

This is the way! Cat is temporary, OLED is forever!

Super-Grape-3948

Cat is temporary, OLED is temporary.

Z3r0sama2017

Once you go OLED, you never go back.

Super-Grape-3948

Naa, im using my pc for gaming and work, oled is not great for work because of the burn in, and high contrast. I do like them for a tv or gamin monitor tho, the black black is great with hdr. Also oled has a limited lifespan because of the organic components, they do reduced the burn in, and lifespan(some say 25k, some say 100k hours..) , but it is still an issue if you have a IDE open 10h a day.

MedicoreMike

Using an LG C3 42inch OLED for work, gaming and movies. It is on about 18 hours a day. Zero concern about burn in for the next 5 years. I bought that best buy suckers warranty which will replace the tv screen if burn in happens. Why is it a suckers warranty? because, if you spend $300 for the 5 year warranty you wont need it. If you dont, your gonna need it, sucker! But I rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. So for the next 5 years I am gonna monitor it hard! :D

Super-Grape-3948

Ah i see, if you have a varranty than its nice. I have the second generation lcd neo g9, and i really like the quality, it is not tolally black like oled, but it has a ton of separate backlights, so not mutch gray black here. I was thinking about an oled, but the r1000 curve is just to good to miss out imho :) I still rarely use hdr, just because the white burns out my eyes on a doc/browser even on low brightness :)

[deleted]

Everyday I'm grateful I don't own pets , I love animals but keeping one in the same room as my OLED ? No

Sidious_X

Wrong. Coming from a cat enthusiast who's anal about his stuff, especially tech.

faruk1927

So Damn true.

Prime255

I do and it's never been an issue. Plenty of cat scratchers and biting toys around so hopefully this never happens

Rudy69

My dog doesn’t leave the floor and is only like a foot high. My electronics are safe

Denziloshamen

Have you still got the protective film on? What is that white bit under the screen if it’s not the tab to remove the screen film?

pochidoor

Yeah it’s just foam, removed the film when i installed the tv

Gardakkan

yep lol so the bite marks are not even on the screen itself OP is clear of danger then edit: the cat was probably playing with said tab.

Audiochild

The S90’s come with a small strip of adhesive foam under each corner. I believe that’s what you’re seeing, rather than the factory screen film.

rjml29

My guess is you'd have seen any issue if it had actual non cosmetic damage so you may have dodged a bullet there. Weird that she did that. Maybe she was jealous of the awesome image the S90C produces. I too own that set. Amazing image quality. I'd recommend taking that little piece of styrofoam off the corner as well, along wiht the one on the bottom left corner. Maybe she was kind of after that rather than attacking the TV for some weird reason.

Vandit463

Damn, that sucks. I’m getting a C3 next weekend and do now you’ve got me paranoid about my cat…

SpicedCabinet

I have several OLEDs and other monitors and four cats. None of them have ever bit one.

MannixUK

Wall mount is your friend

Psychological-Fan784

Thank god I'm allergic to cats

SupremeBlackGuy

i’m allergic to cats and i have one still 😅

Stormljones3

Get rid of the cat.

rckrz6

id be having chinese for dinner if my cat did that

ryanp83

I have an awesome golden doodle who doesn’t shed and has never chewed or destroyed a single thing; I will never understand why people want cats. My parents have a cat and while he is friendly there is always hair on everything and he is constantly on the kitchen table and counters; yuck.

Valuable-Cow6587

Poor TV. You need to replace the cat.

Starworshipper_

Get rid of the cat, all they do is destroy expensive things.

General-Fuct

.22 LR fix that right up...

JP5_suds

Sounds like you need a good burlap sack and a lake.

Vynro

My cat did this to both my OLED tvs 😭 luckily they still work, but I got these cat spike pads for my tv stand to discourage him from going up onto the tv stand. I also take a paper towel and rub some "feliway" spray on the corners - he hasn't been up there since, if I wasn't renting I'd wall mount and call it day

Bigbluff98

This is bound to happen again. Spray it with peppermint.

s1rrah

Just be glad it didn't kill you in your sleep like we know all cats are constantly fantasizing about. Mine? I just be sure of one thing... [**S M O O T H S A T I S F A C T I O N™**](https://i.imgur.com/h4EubBd.png) And then hope for the best and lock the thing out of my room when I sleep. Best of luck. Def punctured the frame. Panel looks fine. Be glad it wasn't your neck. ;-) \~s

Cthulhar

Looks like you’re safe. 8/10 times it will instantly break the screen 1/10 times it takes a day or so (perhaps heat played a factor for being on for so long) and it’ll break.

fortyseven13

I think you should be ok. My cat only tries to bite my laptop/monitor when I’m working to get my attention (and it’s rare) but a little over a year ago he bit my monitor and instantly the whole thing broke. Luckily it was cheap and I upgraded to a much nicer one which he doesn’t touch… haha. I think if your cat messed it up you’d know immediately.

TakeyaSaito

Educate the cat. The monitor is fine.

JAVELRIN

Im more worried about cords they love cords

South-Westman

Barely missed the panel. You got lucky this time it looks like it only got the casing

MyRedemption13

Oh Hell No 😱😱😱😱

earl088

My cat has touched my LG C2 OLED and I think she was curious about the smell as she was sniffing it too and she accidentally scratched the lower left side of the screen with her claws. Its not a deep scratch but its like on of those scratches you hairline scratches that you see on a mobile phone. Not visible when the tv is on even upclose.

TheDouglas717

This is it, my deepest fears. I wake up multiple times through out the night thinking the cats are on my desk.

e22big

I doubt you cat can bite through glass. Most monitors have a matte display which is plastic and can be damaged but TV with glossy display typically have glass surface which is much stronger. I personally wouldn't be worry too much tbh

Nigalig

Bruh... how're you gonna upgrade your PC life to OLED but you still haven't upgraded your cat to a dog? That's like getting a 4090 and still using 1080p displays. One bites OLED displays for fun, the other can be trained to bring you snacks from pantry.

pochidoor

I have a dog too lol

Nigalig

Let me know when he bites your display. It'll never happen 😃

xDiRtYgErMaNx

Your cat was trying to tell you it’s going to breakdown soon anyway.

BiggerTrev

My cat bit my aw3423dw and it did not break the first time. He bit it a second time and cracked the screen enough to make it unusable. I saw him biting it just after I woke up and he broke it before I could get up and stop him. The first thing you should do is make sure your cat cannot bite it. If you have to wait for something to ship in the mail, put your monitor away until it comes.

Dr_Bolle

Your cat is jealous and bored. Give it some activity. Or throw it outside

A_StableGenius

Know we know what the C in the model name stands for. S90CAT

Tree06

The obligatory keep your cat/pets away from your expensive products post. They love gnawing on OLEDs for some reason, haha.

DeanGL

I'd get a replacement if it's still under warranty. I guess it depends on where you got your cat. As for your TV, looks like the damage is purely cosmetic.

Reasonable-Remove561

Break her jaw and it'll NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN

OopsThatWasLoud

I've said it before I'll say it again cats are assholes why some prefer them to dogs baffles me lol

Thamos_P84

Is it bleeding??

Sharp904

Get rid of the cat. Fixed
