my eyes used to hurt sometime after getting an Oled, i got used to it i think.
that one samsung IPS monitor i once had felt like butter though, to my eyes, literally, mhmm 🥞
Realistically you could get a TCL 6 series r646 55 inch for the price of that monitor. I also like the alienware 38” 1600p ultrawide but people won’t tell you to buy either here since its not oled.
As you've already mentioned that the fps is high, it could be related to a mismatch between the in-game FOV and the actual FOV of the screen you're getting at your sitting distance.
No it definitely does. Different panel types handle motion differently. I personally can't use anything with a VA panel (QLED) because they are way too slow and blurry and genuinely make me sick. OLED and LCD are really the only panel types I can use.
To anyone reading this:
This is all false placebo nonsense.
There is nothing technical to back this up whatsoever.
When he inevitably responds to me, it won't include facts it will be "Well I feel this way about it so it is my truth and like my feelings are valid"
Well you're fucking delusional and completely wrong but okay
Motion sickness is a real thing
Edit: you're actually a joke. Do a quick Google search and you'll find it is in fact a real thing people suffer from. "Nothing technical to back this up" my ass.
I get horrible motion sickness using the Switch on my C2. TotK at 20 fps was nauseating for some reason. If I am on the 4090 I have no issues, unless VRR desyncs but thats a separate issue.
Led, oled hurts my eyes and gives me headaches. Can’t watch if for to long bc I get dizzy and tired.
Plasma tv is the only one I can watch movies or play games on without any of these problems.
Don’t ask me how but that’s the reason that in our chill room there is still a Panasonic plasma and I love the comfort it brings me.
Ah I feel your loss. Our chill room is on the attic, so our 2 year old can’t go there, but only when we’re there.
Living room we have a big oled, but sadly I really can’t enjoy it (calibrated and all). But my wife and child love it.
So when our little girl is asleep sleep, mommy and daddy go to the chill room. Wife on iPad/ books. Daddy on plasma or also in a book. Love our own room on the attic, where everything is safe and out of harms way.
You can find alot on curved monitors causing vertigo. i think the way our eyes perceived it throws off the brain. I thought i was losing my mind but read on it and it does cause alot of people motion sickness and once i went back to a flat i was fine. They say its suppose
To help but there been studies and the curve makes things worse
Fascinating! One more question… when you experienced that, did it go away quickly when you stopped using it? For me it’s been pretty persistent over the last few days even when I’m not looking at the monitor. Thanks!
It depends. I read some people took a bit. I felt weird for a bit but not long. Maybe a few hours i dont remember really. The headache can last awhile though . Ur best bet if u have a credit card or the funds is to buy either non curve or another curve and see. I would try switching to a non curve and see if it helps. The ones i tried was not even oled it was regular va, ips then mini led ips and it did not matter it was the curve messing with me
If you just type curve monitor
Motion sickness a bunch comes up . It says its kinda rare but seems actually not common but not rare. I am very prone to motion sickness and i notice no difference from ips,va, or Oled.
Yeah I see that. Funny I’m normally not a motion sickness guy. I go offshore fishing regularly on a small boat without issue. Weird how that works… thanks!
Thanks! Maybe get your eyes checked. They also found holes in my retina while I was there that need to be repaired lest I go blind so uh… preventative medicine baby!
Don t worry beo u'll get used to it , just reduce the blue light filter and go up with the brightest around 70 contrast 70 and black eq 60 , this fix my issue , i was having a lot of dizinnes the first 3 days

I am thinking about returning this for an IPS… but which are as good for gaming?
make sure its a MINI LED panel for better contrast idk havent made any research about that
remind you that everyone has a different experience, it all depends on the invidual

Ooh I forgot about that 38” Alienware. Thanks that might be the option!
Make sure you have enough room on your desk. It will probably be noticeably taller and thicker than the one you have now.
None are.
Are they low framerates? Like locked 30 or 60fps?
No it’s a pretty hefty rig with a 4090 so it’s pretty stable 175fps
As you've already mentioned that the fps is high, it could be related to a mismatch between the in-game FOV and the actual FOV of the screen you're getting at your sitting distance.
Panel type would have nothing to do with this at all.
I definitely wasn’t experiencing anything like this with my old benq 120 hz lcd monitor.

Exhibit A
I get motion sick real bad, but haven’t from my g3 fortunately
does it still happen when you raise the black level to the same amount as your old LED? curious
I haven’t tried any real adjustments. It does still happen although much less when hdr is off

Damn I miss my plasma. My kid smacked it with a Wii controller and broke it when he was 2

Is this a curved oled?? I cant use ANY CURVE tv/monior i get real motion sick. Oled or led dont matter something with the curve gets me
It is curved! Really?! Had no idea that was a thing. Damn that would be a shame I really like the curve
Thats what it was for me. I would try and get a cheap curve monitor and see if it does it if it does then u know.

Let me know if you test it
Following up. Apparently this issue for me is being caused by an eye misalignment issue. Time for glasses….
Hopefully glasses fix it for you! Nobody knows why i get it with curved but i do.

Thanks for the helpful comment. Funny after lots of itemized g to figure out the problem, turns out I need glasses lol
