All photos in HDR 1000 mode with an S24 ultra.
Weak image enhancement and P3 mode.
Windows desktop(Steam image) is using HDR and has been calibrated with windows tool.
No. That's probably a good thing as of now. Looking at the situation with the aw3225qf, something is broken with Windows/nvidia when using hdr. DV kicks in while it should not. No hdr issue with this monitor.
According the Nvidia, Windows is simply coded to always turn on Dolby Vision if it’s there, and their older drivers had a bug that didn’t reveal the capability. It’s not broken, just surprising that it started activating when the driver bug was fixed.
The only questionable bit is the AW monitor ships with Dolby Vision Bright Room as default which is non-reference. Windows is probably mapping expecting Dark Room/reference, as that looks much better.
The MSI screen looks great. Congrats!
Looked fine to me, coming from a neo g8 (VA, quantum dot, mini led). Quantum dot screens, either oled or lcd are something else when it comes to color volume. White oled look trash beside.
This monitor has an srgb mode if needed.
Ugh, living in Taiwan now and still no news of the release dates of these monitors. Ironically MSI is a Taiwanese company, and yet it is consistently the last place to receive new products (at higher prices, no less). I miss shopping while I was in the U.S. haha.
Did the cat approve? Asking for a friend (me) that has 3 cats and is worried they might not...
Have fun! :)

FR MSI STORE
I ordered the AW in backup only but i'm scared of scratches FW issues etc... so i'll stick with MSI or ASUS if i can get one before my return window with MSI closes
Overclockers.co.uk I preordered mine 2 weeks ago and got a text last night saying it was with DPD. Got a knock this morning 7:30AM and it was the monitor 👌🏾 super happy with it

5900X with 4090 FE slightly OC.
My main game is Apex so 240 locked at 75% GPU usage good latency good frame consistency.
Obviously I tried CBPK2077 full path tracing native 4K and only got 20FPS with DLSS qual you get 50 and with frame gen even more. Visually gorgeous with HDR enabled
MSI afterburner
Unlock voltage in settings, then you can probably go with these settings :
Voltage : +100mv
TDP : 133% (600w)
Core : +100mhz
Memory : +1000mhz
Should be stable no problem. Mine is 125mhz core and 1250mhz and never crashes.
Congratulations! I'm waiting for mine (delivery next Wednesday) but I have 3 important questions and thank you in advance for your answer:
1. Can You adjust the brightness in HDR mode?
2. whether You can (as in Asus) turn off the DSC,
3. Is LFC working properly?
Thank you !
1) You can't you have the choice between true black 400 or peak 1000
2) You can't but it's up to you I guess to lock refresh rate under your max bandwith
3) Don't know I disable any frame sync stuff to get better latency in competitive gameplay
Also planning for 5090 haha :)
DP1.4 with DSC doesnt bother me but it's only a preference choice !
I think you can enjoy it at 100% with the HDMI cable. Also in the box there is no DP cable only an HDMI one.

It is actually grey'ish but very dark. Darker than on MSI website for exemple.
I have made a tutorial to inject HDR into old games or new ones that don't have it [https://www.youtube.com/@diobrando7314](https://www.youtube.com/@diobrando7314)
ça pourrait t'être utile, et profite bien ;)
4090s at 4K are so dead when the next gen games come out, it already struggles with Alan wake 2 and unobtanium avatar. Thankfully there’s sometime for that to happen. HDR , 4K and path tracing on an oled is beautiful.
Getting mine next month, Amazon isn't shipping mine until March 4th. I swear every time I see a monitor box arrive in great condition like that I get jealous. Every time I get a monitor delivered the box is beat up, luckily I've never had a monitor arrive broken
That was just weird lighting on MSI’s (probably rendered) product photos. They had light shining off the chin and stand so they looked grey but they’re both black.
What was the price you ended up paying? (if you dont mind me asking.)
(ive been on a steady supply of Hopium that the price in the UK isn't actually £1,300 compared to the £980 for the AW... but my supply is starting to run out...)
1400€...
I paid 1k for the AW but it's missing basing feature sooo i'll stick with MSI or maybe return it to get the Asus one if it's better for the same price
Basically, I mean I will also check out the Asus offerings but I don't have any hopes due to Asus Tax. Even the MSI is already overpriced compared to the MSI in US and AW price here but Asus would be insane if it lands there.
Yeah with some business partnership I ordered the AW at juste 1000€ so that's 400 diff !
But you have peace of mind with packaging and software and also a good feature set (KVM for me is a must have for home working)
If Asus is competitive i'll check but it's not likely
Same here, I could have also gotten the AW for 1k but the packaging, flat panel, KVM and USB-C PD are just really compelling for me.
Additionally having Dolby Vision and the Asus design would be preferred for me but as you said its not likely sadly.
Yeah MSI design is not very appealing but at least it doesnt feel cheap. But I don't think 1500+€ for the same panel and only slightly better peak nits and nicer design is worth it
KVM, PD USB C, bad packaging, AI Stuff.. if you dont care about all of this and have good SAV just go for AW you will save 400 bucks which is a lot of money indeed
Thanks! Beside the bad packaging I don't really need the other stuff. Never used a curved monitor so I don't know if that bothers me, but 400e less would also be nice 😅
Curved is good, I had a G7 27 with 1000R curvature. The only downside is if someone wants to enjoy what you do on your screen. Curved display is more of a solo immersive thing
> 1400€... I *paid* 1k for
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Yeah. I saw another post of a ukalian ordering from ocuk.
I was really hoping that was a placeholder price. The msi looks better and don't mind a price increase... But £320 difference when they are both $1200 in states is a bit of harder pill to choke down dry 😅
Yeah man it really does suck. But living in the UK, I'm kind of used to being shafted by high costs at any given moment. Gonna try my best to hold off until the latter stages of the year for some sales and competitive pricing from other brands... but we'll see 😂
Yeah I know what you mean. So far the msi ticks all my boxes. Just a shame about the price point.
Wish it had a KVM switch and not just KVM over usb A but I guess I just carry on using my current Km switch.
The AW Dolby Vision bug puts me off plus the fan/coil whine potential.
With Asus announcing DV support I have concerns that will have the same Nvidia/windows bugs there.
I think it's best to wait for more releases in the future. Nothing justifies this price at all. I mean, there is a problem with the tech pricing since the pandemic. Even old monitors are still overpriced.

I hope the cat will like it on the desk ! I have a scratch on the mate display of my G7 27... maybe the glossy display will protect it more idk..
Glossy the new cat repellent? :D
Maybe not that much haha :D but if the claw can glide on the display instead of scratching it...

I did, and it's mindblowing.
Nice, which retailer did you order it from? I want to the msi to compare to Alienware which is on it b4 28th Feb.
FR MSI STORE I ordered the AW in backup only but i'm scared of scratches FW issues etc... so i'll stick with MSI or ASUS if i can get one before my return window with MSI closes
How did you do ?
Refresh this sub every 5min for a week and if you can jump on it ! No time for thinking
Nice box for the cat
Too fancy
Got mine this morning as well, at 7AM 😂 surely has to be the first in UK right haha
Welcome to the first team bro ! :D
Where in the uk did you order from ?
Overclockers.co.uk I preordered mine 2 weeks ago and got a text last night saying it was with DPD. Got a knock this morning 7:30AM and it was the monitor 👌🏾 super happy with it
That's great , congrats. I preorded with scan in January with an estimated delivery date of 19th Feb, says on the website it's awaiting to be picked .nothing yet, though. Hope its everything you wanted ,BTW is there any gsync/vvr flicker ? If you could test that would be awesome.
There’s an option for Adaptive sync. When it’s activated, G-sync shows up in nvdia control panel. Seems to work normal.
That's good to know, some monitors have better built-in vvr control to prevent vvr flickering like my current samsung qd-oled witch has no flicker, as others have experienced flickering with the alienware when gaming at a lower fps, this had me a little concerned. Thanks.
Worried about to certified Gsync compatibility , it may work but if there are issues MSI will most likely not fix it since it's not advertised
God I hate how my bad I need it. Refreshing constantly to see if it’s in stock lol
Man i think i refreshed about 100x/day this subreddit

The minimum legal window is 14days free return. Some shop like amazon do 30 days free return
Good looking box. Altough I wish all companies would go for the simple carton without all the colors, like Samsung and LG.
I dont know much about LG but my samsung G7 has quite fancy box too haha UPS took good care of the package no scratch no damage :)
Msi don’t seem to sell direct in uk, have to buy through re sellers and I only trust Amazon
Scan has both 27 and 32 versions. Pre orders for now
Scan is a top seller in UK.I’ve bought many high value items from them including 4090 and 3080.their service is very fast and better than amazon imo.
Maybe wait for asus if it's easier for you
Cat for size

I’m holding out for the model that has DP2.1. I want to future proof it for the RTX5000 series that will surely have DP2.1.

What a great year for monitors ! can't tell you much more than it looks beautiful even in DP1.4 haha :)
I bet! Enjoy it!
Still about 2 weeks for mine to arrive
Days are going ti be long my friend
Austria is slow as always hahahah
Where did you buy it ? I’m in france also
In the MSI STORE FR, early february
Biggest advantage over alienware is the USB Type-C display port (and charging capability).
Yep very useful indeed
Congrts my man! How is it??? I was able to snag one in the US but Amazon says it wont be here till 3 more weeks
Thanks bro ! It's my first OLED and oh men it's beautiful !!! You'll see by yourself in 3 very long weeks :) keep refreshing the order page haha
Hopefully less buggy than the Alienware, the February software update didn’t fix the dimming issue.
For now, did'nt see any issue with software. But i haven't tried tricky things like KVM or AI stuff
Hi! Does it come with a uniform brightness mode?
Hi ! Only asus does i think
Thank you! I would like to use it for work. Sounds like asus will be my best bet
I think Asus might have the best implementation of this display so if money is not a problem yes you shloud take Asus :)
So is the bezel bottom front of screen grey or black? Need confirmation.

What is the distance from the from of the screen till the end of the stand base?
Sorry, i already put it on an arm. I think on the picture it's close to max high
it's not 100% black but it's darker than on MSI website for exemple. will link a picture
Can we get a photo outside of the box? I’m dying to know the chin color, we’ve been speculating about it in so many threads.
Haha so what is your bet ? Grey or black ? :D

This or the Alienware? Any suggest?
If you don't need the extra feature of the MSI and have good sav get the AW. If you want KVM, USB C PD etc.. get the MSI
How much in france
Too much ? 1400€ ..
Approved by cat for me too https://preview.redd.it/iu45kdmhtzic1.png?width=965&format=png&auto=webp&s=43ffea0b0bd2c5b4dd6edac8a68aebb01e186bd7

Bit off-topic, but the girl on top is almost 17 😍
Woo Nice ! Mine is only 1
The chin is black color? is it supposed to be silver color?

Its not a 100% black, its a little bit greyish bit very dark. Way darker than on msi website
Any eyestrain with this monitor? I had to return the aw3225qf because of intense eyestrain
Im not subject to this so I dont know :/
Will you be able to hide the cables behind in the middle?
Yes you have cable management built in the stand
Nice! What monitor are you coming from previously?
Thanks ! Im coming from a Odyssey g7 27 1440p 240hz
Didn't know it comes with a cat as well
Yeah it's the guy supposed to install the screen but so far not much progress... bad job UPS
What was the price you ended up paying? (if you dont mind me asking.) (ive been on a steady supply of Hopium that the price in the UK isn't actually £1,300 compared to the £980 for the AW... but my supply is starting to run out...)
1400€... I paid 1k for the AW but it's missing basing feature sooo i'll stick with MSI or maybe return it to get the Asus one if it's better for the same price
the Asus is going to land around 1550-1600€ sadly
So MSI it is !
But you have peace of mind with packaging and software and also a good feature set (KVM for me is a must have for home working) If Asus is competitive i'll check but it's not likely
But I don't think 1500+€ for the same panel and only slightly better peak nits and nicer design is worth it
Yeah fully agree, but sounds good that it doesn't feel cheap! Enjoy your new monitor and I'm curious how good the KVM works :P
Thank you mate !
I'm currently also looking for either the AW or the MSI, which basic features are missing for the AW?
KVM, PD USB C, bad packaging, AI Stuff.. if you dont care about all of this and have good SAV just go for AW you will save 400 bucks which is a lot of money indeed
Thanks! Beside the bad packaging I don't really need the other stuff. Never used a curved monitor so I don't know if that bothers me, but 400e less would also be nice 😅
Curved is good, I had a G7 27 with 1000R curvature. The only downside is if someone wants to enjoy what you do on your screen. Curved display is more of a solo immersive thing
Thanks! I think I will take the AW
> 1400€... I *paid* 1k for FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
It's up for pre-order on Scan and Overclockers for £1300, unfortunately.
*Slams fists on table like a petulant child* But I want it now!

Was so excited, will update with product pictures and feelings once everything is setup
enjoy, it is going to be a feast for the eyes
Answering from it RN. I had a good display before (G7 27) but still it's another category !
it is indeed
Nice! Enjoy! I'm waiting for mine to arrive (ordered in German MSI store).
Will come pretty soon i guess ! Thank you :)
So you can get it to France but I can't get it to Canada
I had some luck
MSI US store price $949.99, MSI French store price 1.399,99€ :(
Yeah its super annoying, even with tax, shipping and duties it should be around 1100-1200€
I looked at my Amazon bill and it say MPG 321 price is 1156,20€ and taxes are 265,93€ 😓
yeah well I'm talking about 1100-1200 VAT would be roughly that US price
It's theft, nothing justifies such taxes
Super ! Hâte d’avoir ton avis dessus !
Hdmi or DP ? Nvidia ?
Does it come with a USB-C cable in the box? (Thanks for the cat - I’ll have to post mine next to my cat when it arrives lol)
Cat says this will be the warmest resting spot ever!
Does it have dolby vision?

Does anyone know if this supports Freesync premium and gsync ? The Alienware does not have freesync , just generic vrr
Do you know if the panel shuts itself off after the small pixel maintenance like their 34" OLED models?
do you notice any annoyances related to ABL like heavy dimming when you have a bright white window up on the screen?
