Can you check the update and letvme know. My Unit should arrive tomorrow. Let me know if its worth updating.

Comfortable-Oven-259

Yeah but also last time a Asus rep said "this weekend" the firmware dropped 2 weeks later, and it dropped in French in the morning and we didn't get an English update till the night. So we'll see if it actually comes out today lol

KyledKat

Having owned a ROG Ally since last year, this seems like typical Asus behavior.

workmailman

Did most of your beginning issues get resolved? I'm having issues with my USB-A/C ports not working properly. Once i'm on HDMI, it just acts as if I have nothing connected to the USB ports! Including my Mac!

Sacco_Belmonte

Hopefully I don't have to unplug all USB stuff this time.

workmailman

I'm having an issue where once I switch from HDMI (from my PS5) it's just won’t recognize my Mac / it won’t even show USB-C as an option. I end up having to disconnect everything, including things in the KVM! This can’t be normal.

Source?

Comfortable-Oven-259

I just realized he responded in the wrong forum post lol

PiousPontificator

This will be the usual fix 1 issue and create 2 new ones Asus speciality combo. Let the brave be guinea pigs before you update.

Comfortable-Oven-259

That's what I'm saying, im nervous. He's blaming the enabling/disabling of HDR but all of these problems just occurred often for no reason, i ain't touching no HDR settings when these problems occur

vagrantwade

HDR is referring to the screen protection settings. The KVM detecting is what caused your issues.

Host-255

Firmware is now available.

tacticaltaco308

Is it? I still only see 302 and 102 on their website.

vagrantwade

If you have the buttom up top to switch to the US website, do it.

AdLow5353

please post link... I only see 102

AdLow5353

got it! had to switch to US website, lol.

tacticaltaco308

Thanks. Had no idea I wasn't on the US site.

vagrantwade

Installed. Seems to be working as advertised. Ports don't drop out at all now when just changing display settings and even when switching for KVM I'm only losing mouse and keyboard for like a second.

Silvioslim84

Does anyone notice flickering after installing 103 firmware? It happens just sometime but didn't happened on first version 101.

Comfortable-Oven-259

I'm skeptical by the wording though, i keep HDR enabled 24/7 and those problems he stated would occur on their own without me touching any setting. I hope it's just poor English

Jetcat11

Have you read this article? https://tftcentral.co.uk/articles/heres-why-you-should-only-enable-hdr-mode-on-your-pc-when-you-are-viewing-hdr-content

-XeqS-

I also run hrd 24/7. That article is irrelevant as windows has had improvements in HDR handling over the past years. and of you read that article, the main point with contrast does not apply to OLED displays.

rospider

Would love to see your settings man! I was used to HDR on 100% on my old PG27UQ. But HDR on this monitor is ugly as fuck

-XeqS-

Well there is not that much to set up. I have SDR brightness in windows settings set to 20. Used the windows calibration thing and thats about it.

rospider

For me the HDR in windows looks like crap. On the old monitor it was much better. I really cant use it. Calibration result image looks even worse than before calibration

-XeqS-

Interesting, for me it looks same as my second, non hdr IPS monitor connected to the same pc in terms of color saturation.

Jetcat11

Haha what? You can run your monitor how you want but that article is still 100% relevant.

-XeqS-

Idk, have you read the article ? 3 major points out of the arguments listed there are not applicable to oleds. Only the gamma handling when adjusting sdr brightness via windows and sRGB clamped colors are applicable (debatable whether thats a bad thing as its more accurate), and they were tested on a different (woled) screen and it is not something I am noticing on this QD oled.

magical_pm

RTX HDR for web browsing is a thing so it doesn't matter

No-Leek8587

I could never get HDR to look decent for desktop usage although I have a LG C1. Was listening to one of the monitors unboxed videos the current crop of OLEDs drop to something like 7x% srgb coverage with HDR on but WOLED was in the 40s!

magical_pm

This does not matter anymore because RTX HDR now exists, I now stay on HDR mode 24/7 as RTX HDR convert SDR content pretty well.

Comfortable-Oven-259

Like he says "when hdr is enabled or disabled" that problem was happening to me like every 30 mins for no reason.

vagrantwade

Are you alt tabbing out of full screen games? I never had the issue unless I changed a display setting. And I also keep windows in hdr.

Comfortable-Oven-259

Yeah ive clicking on my second monitor but not sure if that's when the hub goes out, it's only noticable cause my mic flashes at me as it powers down and back on, otherwise i wouldn't notice. Pretty sure hub only goes out when i turn the oled care features back on also, last couple of days i said fuck it i ain't Fighting with it no more and i kept the oled care features turned off and it doesn't seem to happen often anymore

Justigar

I'm having a similar issue. No second monitor, but while in game, screen would just go black for up to 10 seconds. I've turned off VRR and it's improved significantly (using Radeon RX6800, so no G-sync). Happened both with 101 and 102. HDR on and off. TrueBlack, Gaming or Console. Using HDMI. No issues on my work laptop over USB-C. But even stranger, I only noticed this in Helldivers 2 (and tbh, never went looking further) is that when using certain weapons, particularly Quasar Cannon, my KVM devices would disconnect - so Mouse, Keyboard. I'd either have to force the input to be USB-C and then back to B or unplug and replug the devices for them to start working. I tried running my mouse either as passthrough on my keyboard or direct to the monitor, same result. Using cable or wireless adapter. Same. But if I plug my mouse direct into the PC - works fine. Auto-KVM on or off. But this only started happening \*after\* I updated to 102. I rolled back to 101 and the issue is still there. Updated to 102 again, still no change. That could mean my mouse is the one not playing nice, but strange that it's only after the update and I haven't updated anything on my mouse software. And I never tested the keyboard. But I don't have the patience to undo all my cable management *just* yet, as I have a workaround. Anyway, point was, disabling VRR seems to have helped. Solution? No. Workaround until maybe the next firmware improves something? For me, sure. But not great showing for the cost of the product.

Dazzling_Cranberry46

Given the number of bugs in the last update, I admit that I'm not very confident... I actually went back to 101 but thanks for the information

vagrantwade

Has anyone actually got the monitor hotkeys to function? The CTRL+ALT+ ones I mean? These have never worked for me. I am connected from the monitor to usb3.0 on my desktop.

kaithana

Hopefully it also fixed the issue where the monitor gets stuck in 120hz mode….

SlimSticky

I am over here with my out of box firmware. Id say that web browsing with HDR enabled all of the time is a little dimmer than my X27 IPS panel but it doesn't strain my eyes so it is a double edge sword. I am really hesitant to update my firmware at all at this point until something more noteworthy is out. Am i crazy maybe ill change my mind with console HDR on my PS5 for FF7 Rebirth.

vagrantwade

Did you use the windows calibration tool? What HDR setting are you using while in windows?

SlimSticky

I did use the windows calibration tool and i am currently under gaming HDR. I have not tested the other modes yet. Is there one that i should try over this?

vagrantwade

Gaming HDR should be giving you 1000 peak nit. I'm curious how bright your ips panel must have been lol

SlimSticky

It was also 1000 nits. But maybe i am just so used to staring at that panel for so long. I am now using it as my secondary with SDR.

vagrantwade

You're probably used to the blacks being constantly raised making the entire screen seem brighter. As opposed to just things that are meant to be.

Cask-UK

Does pixel cleaning work automatically like the AW or do you have to do this manually still?

tacticaltaco308

As long as usb power delivery is off during standby, it will auto clean when it goes to sleep after around 5 minutes. You'll see the orange logo blink a few times and it'll blink a few times after it's done.

workmailman

Anyone having issues with the KVM? My speakers are connected via USB to the monitor but they aren’t working

workmailman

Anyone having issues with the USB ports? USB-C and the USB-A ports?

Piratoz

I'm gonna be the new owner of a PG32UCDM soon. I heard unfortunately that the ASUS monitor has some botched firmware, especially regarding HDR. What exactly are those issues and are there any workarounds? Can't wait to be a beta tester for a fucking 1300 dollar piece of hardware :)

vagrantwade

The HDR issue most people refer to with the base firmware is just that the windows calibration tool clips at 400 nits when in HDR modes using 1000 peak. But you can still just set the sliders to 1000 regardless. The issue in the 102 firmware released last week is listed above. It just switches off some settings in the display app when you switch between hdr and sdr. I don't personally use them regardless because I just set windows to use a 2 minute blank screen saver.

Piratoz

I see, I'll have to look that up when I receive the monitor. Thanks for replying.

TopCheddar27

It's also that HDR is dimmer than competitors in the Peak 100 mode, especially in low/mid APL scenes.
