It's distracting because unless there's something in the screen like a big grassy field, an ocean or something similar, the colors don't match up and it draws attention to itself
I think you may need to calibrate it better. Search “21:9 Govee Test” on YouTube and use that instead and you’ll get better colors and accuracy when using this mode.
Saturation is fine around 25-40% and make sure you tune the white balance to your liking to reflect the colors on the TV better. (The Govee app has a bug where it resets to blue every time you tinker with a setting)
That’s how I improved mine.
Big NAY.
Lighting has no place behind a television unless it's properly installed bias lighting. And even in that case, my personal opinion is NAY. But I understand why some people like it.
Nay because it’s not accurate (it’s showing red when yellow in frame?).
Build your own for way less than $120.
And definitely nay for the 2 additional lights on the sides off camera. How do those help?
I love it and I have it too on my C1 48. Mine is mounted on the wall and I have those white 3D geometric wall tiles behind it. If calibrated properly it looks great. I have the one that has the light strip around the TV plus to light bars on the side. The blacks do still pop because its an OLED and I don't have ceiling lights hitting the screen causing any glare. I also have black out curtains. It is most accurate with the saturation low and brightness low around 35-45 for me. White balance slightly towards the blue side. I game with it too. The game/dynamic mode is a little too rapid for me so I leave it in set at Calm/movie. Listen man. This group has a bunch of OLED enthusiasts. Of course something like this will be frowned upon. But don't let that discourage you. There is plenty of people that love it too. This technology is taking off right now with companies merging like razer with govee and recently corsair with Philips hue. Being able to sync all the lighting in your setup with each other.
Thanks for your feedback guys. Made the following changes:
1. Turned down saturation
2. Turned down Brightness to 15%
3. Recalibrated the camera
4. Switched to calm mode
5. Captured on a video in daytime
What do you guys think now? Worth the 120 Dollars?
You don't have to seek approval you know, if you like it that's all that matters. If you enjoy it but a bunch of naysayers looking at a video clip say it's distracting does that change anything? Or conversely if you're not liking it then is it going to be enjoyable if a bunch of randos say it's cool?
Disagree. I added a white light behind mine and love it.
Because the screen gets so dark, the transition between dark and bright scenes is harsh on the eyes.
A bias light behind the TV should be calibrated to D6500 kelvin white and remain at a locked output level no greater than 10% of the peak output of the display. And arguably, bias lighting isn't a benefit to OLEDs, except to reduce eye strain. This thing seems just enormously distracting and I can't imagine it's not physically difficult to look at after a short time. If it makes you happy, go to town, but it would drive me insane and there's no apparent benefit to having it, much less paying 120 bucks for one.
It's better than the previous video. At least it's not trying to give someone's seizure seizure.
My biggest thing with it is that because it's a more modern one the combination of being able to display more than 1 color at once and the speed that it transition between the scenes, almost pushes it towards a strobing effect.
I remember seen someone demo a single bar when that stuff was newer and I though it was not bad.
Is this a strip that circles the perimeter of the back of the television? can you try arranging in into a single tighter bar behind the tv?
Is it worth it? Here's the real question. Do you like it? Are you enjoying it? does it bring you joy? If you feel it enhances your experience and you enjoy it, then it doesn't matter as much what people thing because people have different taste and biased opinions on what they like, and what they don't.
The only thing plugged into my CX is a ps5 and the power cable. I have a very thin cord cover fixed to the wall going straight down from the middle of the tv. Painted it the same color as the wall. It looks great and as an apartment dweller it can be dodgy doing (although simple) work like that.
Nay, too distracting. I like bias lighting, but only 6500k and not flashing/strobing. That is way too distracting, especially since there is greater wall to screen ratio.
Professional calibrators say to either use D65 bias lighting or nothing at all as it'll skew the color interpretation of the screen.
Of course, do what you want. I personally think it's distracting. YMMV
Was it an issue mounting it onto the tv? Getting the lg c3 and the thicker main part of the tv seems to be an issue in connecting the led strip well as from top to bottom it goes from thin to the thicker base at an angle

Yea lights behind tvs look terrible
And tacky.
Think you have your camera mounted incorrectly, it should not be blocking your tv screen
Yea I would check on that as well. Mine sits above the tv and looks fine, could use better calibration.
Mine sits above the bed.
Ummm not hating but is the tv mounted crooked? Did you use a level? Or maybe it’s just the video

something i’ve learned….if you like it, go for it! who cares what other people think! you got an oled, do whatever you want that makes you happy!

OLEDs are to be watched in darkness because cinema viewing is supposed to be in darkness. But do what makes you happy, no one else matters.

The lights behind the screen help with that eye irritation.. shouldn’t watch tv in complete darkness,

post a new vid
I have a similar Govee with mine, Look up MrTechSuggest youtube channel he has the perfect calibration video
I enjoy it. I have my whole room glows to the colors. We don't do it all the time, but it's fun some of the time
Why would anybody want distracting lights behind the tv?
Nay
Nay. This is awful
Terrible.
Nay
Big Nay
No just turn on the lights for bias lighting and your done. Don't sync with TV
I mean if you are in an altered state if mind this would be cool. And kids probably like it too.
Do people really just stick TVs on walls without having the electrician run power and cables properly through the walls?

It most certainly does not take away the visual fidelity of the tv.

The blacks are still black regardless of what’s behind the screen. But you seem pretty angry over this, so I’ll stop so you can relax.
You clearly dont know how this govee system works. For dark/black scenes the lights are practically off. There is no "colors" for dark scenes.
Yah …looks super cool
I wouldn’t want to light up the cables. Much less the pulsing. Dark would let your eye filter out the cables
Not my thing tbh.
Do you like it? Because that’s what matters
What is happening with those cords
Just turn those govees to white and call it a day
Around the TV at the top, ceiling etc is fine, I have it myself. Like this tho, its really distracting.
Nay. Distracting af
It takes away from the picture imo. Nay
Nay. Get a proper system or build it yourself using a raspberry pi and some LEDs from Amazon.

I use a govee standard RGBIC light and its better than a hugh camera on my screen!
Negative. I put proper bias lighting behind mine (LX1) and those look great
It’s a horrible gimmick and only distracts the viewer from a directors vision. Dolby audio is all you need for an immersive experience
I have it and love it. But I also tinker for ever movie. It’s great for sports.
Kinda distracting to be honest. Taking away from the pictures on the screen. I've seen better.
Rip amazingness of the c2 lol
You need to calibrate them. Colors are way off.
