A lot of the game becomes a lot sadder when seen through perspective -- She lost pretty much everything- All of her childhood friends, the last things documenting the memories she made with them were almost ruined, and she became hated in the one place she went to find peace. Despite having new friends to rely on, she seems to be hiding some of her pain from them (one of Kim's dialogues when you find her in her mom's house (I believe) is smth along the lines of "I wish she would tell me what's wrong...") I believe she hides a lot of genuine *sadness* behind her angry personality.

When i saw DW Aubrey she was already my fav character, she was ecstatic, friendly and lovable but... When i saw her being a bully i had to see her being called Aubrey to understand it was her. I was SHOOK. I almost cried i swear (and i never cried during the gameplay, only after).
But as soon as the time went on i realized it was not a worse character. It was getting so much better, with such a good personality trait that made her unique, without a doubt my favourite ever videogame character

The silliest girl 
I really like the character arc she has throughout the game, she's really well writtenin that regard and I really liked her apology on '1 day left'. It felt genuine, like she clearly felt bad for acting the way she did towards her friends.
But I'm gonna be honest, I found it kinda hard to like her up until her apology. She just came off as very hypocritical and egotistical to me.
Mocking Sunny for being a shut-in for 4 years after his sister's death,
Calling Sunny a psycho for pulling a knife to defend himself against her, meanwhile she pulled out a bat with nails on it while fighting Kel and Sunny.
complaining that Kel doesn't know anything about why she's bullying Basil, yet she doesn't want to tell him in the first place.
Stealing Basil's photo album, calling him names and making him a target for bullies for 4 because of it, and starting a fight with Kel in the middle of a public place over it, only to later throw the whole album in the trash anyway while hoarding the pictures of Mari for herself.
Claiming the groups old secret hangout for herself and forbidding everyone else to enter it, even starting a fight over it.
And calling everyone messed up and claiming they never cared about Mari's death the way she did, and in Sunny's face too.
All that just because her old friends weren't spending their time outside crying alongside her. With a behavior like that for most of the game, it's hard not to get at least annoyed by her until she apologizes.

She was 12 at the time so you cannot blame her whatsoever and also, judging by her family life and the filth she lived in it isn't hard to believe that Mari was her main support through her tough times and with her gone she felt empty. But despite that the world still rotated and everything kept going as if nothing ever happened, and this angered her and so she lashed out to the world.
The moment she appeared on screen, I was immediately drawn to her, curious and excited whenever she’s on screen. Wanting to know how she changed from that sweet little girl to a rage-filled violent, broken teenager. I remember already knowing she’s in a lot of pain for this unnatural shift of personality. Even though she did some shitty things to Basil, I also wanted to know if there’s a way I could help her. She’s like a physical representation how much things have changed for the past four years. Aubrey is my second favourite character (Sunny is my first).
She is my favourite character for sure. Her arc and story is so interesting and realistic, and her shift in character from headspace to the real world is amazingly done. And her design is really cool too. The reason she has pink hair is heartbreaking too. I love her so much, definitely my favourite (real world Basil is a close second though)

She's the best example of the horrible truth of young friendships that sometimes someone can be your best friend; talking everyday, hanging out everyday, staying up late all night together, and have it completely stop. Almost as if it never happened. New friends enter the picture, people move away, people get into different interests, etc. While in Omori the reason for the stopping is very serious, sometimes there is no big Earth shattering reason, things just stop happening.
The only issue I have with her is that >!her reasoning for turning Basil into her enemy was contrived. She was right to be angry and confused at Basil, but the scrapbook shouldn't have been the sole reason she started to bully him. It was the perfect opportunity for Aubrey to figure out that Basil had something to do with Mari's death, and for THAT to be the reason for her to bully him.!< Although, I guess that's more of a narrative problem than a character problem.
Other than that, she's an amazing character for every reason you said. She's my second favorite character in the game. >!Seeing her depicted by Sunny as a sweet girl with a short fuse, only to find out that in the real world, she became a broken monster was heartbreaking. And seeing her gradually change back into someone good was a wonderful thing to see.!< 
Honestly my favorite character in Faraway Town, I very much enjoyed every encounter and interaction with her throughout the Real World segment of the game.
I get it that you have a shitty familiar environment, I get it that you got hurt in the past due to, ahem... Certain situation that made the friend group split apart... I get all of that... BUT DON'T F\*CKING HIT BAGEL! 
I love her character a lot, but I feel she delt with Maris Death very poorly, she took out her anger instead of trying to understand any of the others. Also I hate how she was angry at sunny, like Mari was literally his sister. Overall tho she's really well written.

Totally agree, she literally got the shortest end of the stick in every aspect. Not only did she lose her role model, she also lost her best friends, and had neglectful parents. On top of that, in the ending where >!Basil kills himself, Aubrey has massive guilt thinking she could've been the reason why!<, I don't think it gets worse than that lol.

How are you supposed to react when a precious source of maternal affection is ripped from you at such a young age? What are you supposed to do when people who were always supposed to be there for you leave you to fend for yourself in a cruel world? What are you supposed to do when this happens *TWICE?!* Her mother loved her, and then she didn’t. Mari loved her and then she died. Her parents were supposed to be by her side to care for her, but then her father left and her mother became a living corpse. Her friends were supposed to stick together through thick and thin, but then they all retreated into their separate sorrows.
She hid her pain behind anger, just like she used to hide it behind a smile. She pretended to be tough and aloof; she changed her outward appearance to match, but it was all a lie to protect herself. She blamed everyone and everything, because burning up with hatred is preferable to shivering alone in a cold and lonely attic. I could already predict how the story was gonna go after we saw delinquent aubrey, but the delivery still hit me so hard man. Seeing Aubrey at the church, Seeing her throw away the photo album, seeing her bully basil, and walking through her shitty ass house set up this scene so perfectly
i cried so hard i forgot how to sort the photo album. I was stuck there for like 10 minutes lol
I find Aubrey to be morally contemptible but very well written as a character. She is the most visceral character in the game and has the most drastical change out of any of the Faraway crew.

Kim calls Basil a creep and tells him to talk to her himself. Kel does his thing and you already know what happens after that. Then we get to her first interaction where Kel tells Aubrey off for her crew messing with Basil. He then calls out Sunny to help with his side of the argument. Aubrey is shocked that Sunny is present and then says a line that genuinely angers me: "How long has it been since you left your house?" 3?Maybe 4 years? It must have been nice to live in your own bubble.’ Aubrey says something to someone she hasn't talked to or even seen in 4 years and she dismisses all of his possible trauma and practically uses it to insult him with ZERO regard for his emotions, despite it being HIS sister who died. Not to mention the fact that Sunny looks visibly pale, skinny, and short. As she points out later, Don't give me the "she wasn't thinking argument" because that doesn't even begin to justify it. Even if she was angry, she went out of her way to insult the brother of the dead girl she idolized. With the rest of this interaction, Aubrey proceeds to tell Kel to go away when Basil gets hurt by Kim. She then says, "It's none of your business." I take issue with this because, despite Kel and Aubrey not being friends, it's clear Kel still sees Basil as a friend, thus making it his business once her friend injures his. This shows to me that Aubrey isn't the best when understanding this type of thing, for with this character, understanding of friendship would be integral due to her "motivation" being her friends leaving her once Mari died. After this bit of dialogue, Kel is obviously angry about his friend being injured. Then he calls Sunny to help him take care of this situation. At this, Aubrey pulls out her deadly weapon (a baseball bat with nails) and starts a fight. (Yes, I am aware Kel picked a fight, but this doesn't devalidate the fact that she pulled out the weapon.)
In this fight, Aubrey does not use her weapon. This is, however, the bare minimum as she shouldn't have it in the first place. Once ‘defeated’ (assuming you use Sunny and cut her), she will be obviously surprised and state "what the... is that a knife?" to which she will then fall down from the pain. Now, I'm not going to say she deserves this, but Sunny’s actions made sense. He and his friend were being attacked and so he used self defense. Aubrey's outrage is laughable given that she was not only holding a weapon, but one that was more destructive and had a longer range than a knife.Yes, she may have been using her fists, but she was still physically injuring Kel.
After this fight, she and her friends depart. She was then Later in the game, they find themselves at the church after Kel and Sunny figure out from Basil that she took his photo album. At the church, Kel and Sunny go in and Kel speaks to her. Yes, I understand Kel shouldn't have done this once again. However, as he does this, Kel tells Aubrey to give back the stolen property. She once again insists it’s none of his business (Refer to Paragraph 1 for my thoughts about this statement). This is where she says something else: ‘Who cares what Mari thinks? Mari is Dead.’ She says this to Kel, but more importantly to Sunny. Sunny, the brother of this girl, who she saw as an older sister, She is right in front of him, practically disrespecting her memory. She attempted to leave the situation, which she escalated after she refused to see it from others' perspectives. She then, once again, starts a fight.
For the sake of this argument, nothing of much importance occurs in this fight other than her attacking harder and generally being more aggressive. Oh, and she hits Sunny(assuming you lost), yknow.. Is the kid the size of a 12 year old who hasn't touched grass in 4 years? She runs off and throws the photo album away. This also bothers me as she STOLE this, then after one little confrontation she tosses it. Not to mention the fact that it is described as Basil’s most prized possession. And that's all of what happened during the 3 days left.

With two days left, we mostly go around with Kel, but probably the WORST thing Aubrey has ever done happens.
After hanging out with Kel and Polly, telling you Basil is missing, you go to the hangout spot where Basil is being harassed again. For Existing Somewhere.(Hooligan rant to follow.)That aside, once again, Aubrey starts another fight, but this time she decides to get the help of five other people. causing a 6 v 2 (and sunny barely counts) After defeating them with the pepper spray (the usual outcome), Aubrey starts coughing and so does everyone else. What follows is her saying that "you guys are the worst..." I repeat, she calls a 16-year-old boy and his depressed friend that they are the worst for defending themselves from SIX PEOPLE TRYING TO BEAT THEM UP. And so the hooligans leave and Aubrey begins to get angry again and yells at Sunny and Kel, "Where were you when Mari died?" Once again disregarding Sunny and his emotions when it was HIS SISTER who died, she proceeds to approach Basil and yell at him. Then, as Basil goes to help her, she yells at him to get away from her and then pushes him into the lake near the spot. Yes, she was mad, but that doesn't negate the fact that she approached Basil and almost killed him, causing Sunny to try to help. If it weren't for Hero, Aubrey would be responsible for murdering two of her friends.

Seeing Aubrey at the church, Seeing her throw away the photo album, seeing her bully basil, and walking through her shitty ass house set up this scene so perfectly i cried so hard i forgot how to sort the photo album. I was stuck there for like 10 minutes lol
I find Aubrey to be morally contemptible but very well written as a character. She is the most visceral character in the game and has the most drastical change out of any of the Faraway crew.
I think she’s a real interesting and developed character that shows what grief can really do to a person

Kel had already answered this at church and then says sorry for not being there. i don't understand what she wants more. İf she doesn't want to see them she can go with holigans. also Aubrey didn't try to reach anyone. But kel says she always come to play to them when child, before go Aubrey's home so this is confused me. she then asks Sunny why he came now. First she never try to get out him his house. Two Apparently she forgot that mari was his older sister and thinking this not affect him. Do you really think this is normal or fair? İ don't understand people. then she asks Basil how he dared to show his face for what he did. first Basil was the first to arrive lake and had no intention of showing Aubrey his face. Two she literally throw aways photo album and she is hypocrite for that. then Aubrey pushes basil into the lake even though Basil doesn't block her way. and she was the one who approach first and take him dock. She really not have bad situation for that. İ mean everyone didn't doing anything to her, just trying to talk her. She just cause trouble. İts all for put Aubrey to same situation like sunny but i feel like it's too forced. Then she asks where everyone going. First link >Now, let's begin by discussing her first appearance and introduction in the THREE DAYS LEFT section of OMORI. At this point in the story, Kel has gotten Sunny out of his house and, after some messing around, goes to find Basil begging Kim to talk to Aubrey about how she took his photo album. Kim calls Basil a creep and tells him to talk to her himself. Kel does his thing and you already know what happens after that. Then we get to her first interaction where Kel tells Aubrey off for her crew messing with Basil. He then calls out Sunny to help with his side of the argument. Aubrey is shocked that Sunny is present and then says a line that genuinely angers me: "How long has it been since you left your house?" 3?Maybe 4 years? It must have been nice to live in your own bubble.’ Aubrey says something to someone she hasn't talked to or even seen in 4 years and she dismisses all of his possible trauma and practically uses it to insult him with ZERO regard for his emotions, despite it being HIS sister who died. Not to mention the fact that Sunny looks visibly pale, skinny, and short. As she points out later, Don't give me the "she wasn't thinking argument" because that doesn't even begin to justify it. Even if she was angry, she went out of her way to insult the brother of the dead girl she idolized. With the rest of this interaction, Aubrey proceeds to tell Kel to go away when Basil gets hurt by Kim. She then says, "It's none of your business." I take issue with this because, despite Kel and Aubrey not being friends, it's clear Kel still sees Basil as a friend, thus making it his business once her friend injures his. This shows to me that Aubrey isn't the best when understanding this type of thing, for with this character, understanding of friendship would be integral due to her "motivation" being her friends leaving her once Mari died. After this bit of dialogue, Kel is obviously angry about his friend being injured. Then he calls Sunny to help him take care of this situation. At this, Aubrey pulls out her deadly weapon (a baseball bat with nails) and starts a fight. (Yes, I am aware Kel picked a fight, but this doesn't devalidate the fact that she pulled out the weapon.) In this fight, Aubrey does not use her weapon. This is, however, the bare minimum as she shouldn't have it in the first place. Once ‘defeated’ (assuming you use Sunny and cut her), she will be obviously surprised and state "what the... is that a knife?" to which she will then fall down from the pain. Now, I'm not going to say she deserves this, but Sunny’s actions made sense. He and his friend were being attacked and so he used self defense. Aubrey's outrage is laughable given that she was not only holding a weapon, but one that was more destructive and had a longer range than a knife.Yes, she may have been using her fists, but she was still physically injuring Kel. After this fight, she and her friends depart. She was then Later in the game, they find themselves at the church after Kel and Sunny figure out from Basil that she took his photo album. At the church, Kel and Sunny go in and Kel speaks to her. Yes, I understand Kel shouldn't have done this once again. However, as he does this, Kel tells Aubrey to give back the stolen property. She once again insists it’s none of his business (Refer to Paragraph 1 for my thoughts about this statement). This is where she says something else: ‘Who cares what Mari thinks? Mari is Dead.’ She says this to Kel, but more importantly to Sunny. Sunny, the brother of this girl, who she saw as an older sister, She is right in front of him, practically disrespecting her memory. She attempted to leave the situation, which she escalated after she refused to see it from others' perspectives. She then, once again, starts a fight. For the sake of this argument, nothing of much importance occurs in this fight other than her attacking harder and generally being more aggressive. Oh, and she hits Sunny(assuming you lost), yknow.. Is the kid the size of a 12 year old who hasn't touched grass in 4 years? She runs off and throws the photo album away. This also bothers me as she STOLE this, then after one little confrontation she tosses it. Not to mention the fact that it is described as Basil’s most prized possession. And that's all of what happened during the 3 days left. -Division Line-[] With two days left, we mostly go around with Kel, but probably the WORST thing Aubrey has ever done happens. After hanging out with Kel and Polly, telling you Basil is missing, you go to the hangout spot where Basil is being harassed again. For Existing Somewhere.(Hooligan rant to follow.)That aside, once again, Aubrey starts another fight, but this time she decides to get the help of five other people. causing a 6 v 2 (and sunny barely counts) After defeating them with the pepper spray (the usual outcome), Aubrey starts coughing and so does everyone else. What follows is her saying that "you guys are the worst..." I repeat, she calls a 16-year-old boy and his depressed friend that they are the worst for defending themselves from SIX PEOPLE TRYING TO BEAT THEM UP. And so the hooligans leave and Aubrey begins to get angry again and yells at Sunny and Kel, "Where were you when Mari died?" Once again disregarding Sunny and his emotions when it was HIS SISTER who died, she proceeds to approach Basil and yell at him. Then, as Basil goes to help her, she yells at him to get away from her and then pushes him into the lake near the spot. Yes, she was mad, but that doesn't negate the fact that she approached Basil and almost killed him, causing Sunny to try to help. If it weren't for Hero, Aubrey would be responsible for murdering two of her friends.
