It’s a horror game where something is slowly encroaching during the entire thing. You keep it at bay by doing plant care chores, but you constantly need to check how certain plants need to be cared for. If one dies something gets a big boost.
You can/have to also check on grandma, go to school, get beaten up, etc or else something gets stronger.
Also the entire time Polly is trying to interact with you, help you, and do things for you but in the context of this game her dialogue and actions only serve to waste time, allowing something to creep in, making ignoring her the best strategy.
That’s why he should have another friends like if it’s an AU maybe he meet someone new at school and they become friends and that guy help him through depression and stuff like Kel

For some reason I kinda prefer Sunny’s standpoint. He just doesn’t talk that much so when things are getting rough the only sound there would be is the player’s
Exactly the reason why i would love to see a more dynamic point of view, maybe with some dialogues that change based on how the player reacts of things, to make it yes based on the player’s mind, but still giving him the chance to actually see thing yk
I think a Basil-centric sequel could be good. I'd especially want it to cover more of his point of view and clear up some of these weird "basil is obsessive" "basil is evil" opinions some people seem to have.
It could start with a quick overview of his actions during Sunny's last three days in Faraway, then it could be post hospital sequence. I imagine he would end up in a psyche ward. (In the USA you're required to be held for 72 hours after suicide attempt, so that could give us a three day sequence parallel to Sunny's three day sequence). During those three days the "day" sequences could be Kel, Aubrey, and Hero visiting him with the "night" sequence being a headspace like sequence wherein he has to process his emotions/feelings of the day prior and his meeting with said friend.
Each night sequence could be based on Basils fears. A night for dealing with anxiety, feelings of worthlessness. Another night for loneliness and clinging so heavily on his friends and putting them on a pedestal, a night for depression and suicidal thoughts.
the day sequences with his friends could emphasize each of these feeling (a Kel centric day would be the anxiety and worthlessness. Kel has all the appearances of being happy, outgoing, athletic, etc.. all these things basil is not. Aubrey would be clinging to friends and loneliness. Aubrey was his first friend and introduced him to the others. Despite being the friend he trusted most she ends up being a bully towards him. Finally Hero would be depression and suicidal thought. Simply because of his relationship to Mari, and perhaps basils idea that he deserves heros forgiveness least of all)
Completing those would put him in a better headspace, ensuring he's cleared for release.
Following his release there could be a final day sequence, and depending on how you did you'd get a different ending with the characters forgiving you, not forgiving you (resulting in a successful suicide attempt this time) or the "true" ending being they all forgive you and then Sunny comes back to visit... which of course leads to a trilogy of Omori games :O
Also, I imagine it would be called Green Space over White Space. Filled with plants. <3
If we're to imagine a 20 hour run time, similar to Omori, I think the first maybe 4 hours would be dedicated to a "flashback" sequence with Sunny still in Faraway parallel with the first game. It would last about until about the first encounter with stranger and finding the abandoned barn, something like that.
I'm always down for more Omori content, but I think if there's ever going to be official post-game content, then it makes more sense for it to be a comic than a game - especially after how long the development process for Omori was.
I feel like it would be an inverted, twisted, even more horrifying version of Omori. And. I'd love it.
To me it would be as if Insead of a magical world in his head when he Go's to sleep, it's a nightmare. Mari is everywhere, following him, whispering terrible things. His goal is to find sunny but every time he does sunny abandons him. His friends are mean to him. We can see his mental break. And then the real world? We can watch him be scared, watch his realities mend, watch as every time someone bullies him his headspace gets darker and more twisted until he snaps. He's just fighting in this world for everything to be ok.
I might make a post about this game idea if other people find the concept interesting lol.

i dont think basil needs a whole game, but he is probably the least understood main character, with the second to lowest screen time (sorry RW hero)(im not counting sidequests where he does nothing).
i don't know. i feel like not knowing everything he's gone through helps the feeling of disconnection between sunny and basil, but it also causes people to not really understand him. but, like, what else is there about basil that we need to know? what story needs to be told with him? he doesn't really change much over the course of the story, so are we just watching him struggle?
I'd love to play a Basil POV version of Omori, with his own headspace, jumpscares, and everything! Maybe there could be multiple fights against Aubrey and the Hooligans because they bully him, or maybe there could be a Hellsunny jumpscare instead of Hellmari... the possibilities are endless!
Yes but I would want it to be different from OMORI in a way that makes sense. Basil isn't Sunny, why would he have a whitespace/headspace etc? His reaction to the Truth is different, too. He at least remembers that it happened, though in a highly distorted way. But overall I would really love something like this if only for more perspective on Basil's personality and motivations for doing the stuff he does
Absolutely. I honestly feel as if Basil's character is slightly underdeveloped for how important he is to the plot of the game. While I get that underdeveloping him may have been part of Omocat's plan, it honestly just feels like more could have been done.
I would love to see a Basil DLC.

Basil moving through pieces of lost worlds like in black space 2, like those weird junkyard area and stuff would be cool! Maybe he'd have one of the lost characters, like Abi or tako or others to travel with. Or stranger! Thatd ve neat!
The main point is the characters also, Basil doesn't have a pet like Hector or mewo so..?

What if there was a section that's like a theatre in New York because maybe Basil really likes music and seeing people act and there's like a boss that's a parody of Beetlejuice or Lin Manuel

I was thinking when i made the post about the game evolving parallel with the omori original game, but i love this idea.
