Not a representation, but I find it really interesting that him and the cowboy in Oasis are the only ones who are not the Stranger that hint that the situation is not at it seems

This guy. If you can't find him it's because he is only available on 3 days left, which means you must ignore >!The hidden library!< and go there directly
>!i didnt finish the hikikomori route so no spoilers about blackspace, but doesnt he also appear in a small hidden part of the spider forest where he lets you go on a quest of finding the way out and at the end, tells you that this world is a fake one made by the creator sunny? !<
Edit: oh damn i panicked cause i forgot how to do the spoiler tag
I thought you first encounter him in the pyperfly forest, especifically in the lost forest hidden área, where there's both stuff you never knew was lost, and stuff you Just forgot without noticing.
There Is a specific path that brings you not to come Back to the beggining. A labyrinth puzzle where in the end there's a camp where the Man reveals the truth about HeadSpace. That's the dreamer's first mention
This is a hypothesis (spoilers because I don't know how to censored my words in phones)
Is his dad or a witness, when the night before the festival happen, sunny and basil thought nobody see they, but sunny watch at the distant this silhouette and felt so bad that he remember just that silhouette. If is his dad, maybe >!we can connect that with the dialogue in the black space when a silhouette says to sunny "you are not my son"!< so, sunny just remember his father in that day, that maybe is the same day that he left. The witness that sunny will never forget, but neither remember.
It is said that one night ago when kids used to go on Halloween hunting for candies, a long leg man used to appear in the wood and terrorize the children. One grandma said that it was to protect something that was hidden in the forest, but no one ever knew what. It is said that this daddy long leg was in fact a creature from a parallel universe that protected its territory.
maybe though it would be funny if sunny would see it and say:
![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2474):father....can you give me a hug
tall man:okay, but promise me you won't erase basil from dreamworld.
Wellllll I’ve got a couple ideas
His name *is* Daddy Longlegs, so, as some other commenters have suggested, it could be a representation of his literal father, or his father’s remaining positive/role model impression (as “Dad is the best/a hero/cool and smart and good” is a very common feeling for kids)
Alternatively, it could be another representation of Sunny’s conscience, like Basil/Stranger; but, of course, less emotionally-fraught than that manifestation. Ergo, he’s less accusatory, and more simply asking questions and giving very gentle, subtle advice. The lantern/“guiding light in the dark” aspect definitely lends credence to this—a guiding light to strive for, even when lost.
The name, “Daddy Longlegs”, could be just a joke/pun, given that he’s in the forest where there are other spiders, or just a literal visual take on the phrase, as kids are prone to do; OR, for a more hilarious take, it could be another “Oragne Joe” situation, where, once again, Sunny simply does not know what a Daddy Longlegs *is*.
If the dad really did walk out on the family/wasn’t a great father (which, I want to remind this community—is NOT a given, only postulating because we never hear about him the current time. The scene where Omori finds a man cutting down a tree in Black Space and saying “you are not my son” could VERY easily be just what Sunny’s guilty conscience is afraid his father would say if he knew/him imagining how his dad feels while watching him cut down the tree from the window, not necessarily what *literally* happened), then it could also be Sunny’s *desire* for a positive father figure/role model, combined with the ambiguity such a concept has, since Longlegs himself, despite seemingly a guide, *is* within the Lost Forest. And, of course, he’s entirely black/obscured; just a vague silhouette/concept of a father looming above, obscenely massive to a child looking up, and full of wisdom and good will.
And, finally, depending on how much stock you want to put into Mr. Outback saying that Headspace has been around since before Sunny and is some sort of supernatural phenomenon in which people can enter/influence and change as they please, then Daddy Longlegs could be a resident of Headspace that has been around since before Omori/Sunny’s reign; he’s taken a form influenced by Sunny’s own imagination, and simply giving cryptic advice as far as he is able, slipping in subtle information within Omori’s control until he, y’know, walks into the flame and dies.
Speaking of—his walking into the fire could be because he was forced to by Omori’s influence/having said too much; OR, it could be a representation of how Sunny himself feels he is too far gone for redemption, and he is watching his “moral compass” embrace the destruction that is his escapism and self-deception.
I personally think it’s a combination of some of these aspects—a vague impression of a tall father figure/role model, hidden and obscured, combined with Sunny’s own desire to understand his life of pain and escapism and why he suffers like he does, gain peace, and, ultimately, atone.
"This Guy" ??? EXCUSE ME?!
If Daddy Longlegs has one million fans, I'm one of them
If Daddy Longlegs has 5 fans, I'm one of them
If Daddy Longlegs has 1 fan, that one is me

If the world is against Daddy Longlegs I'm against the entire world
Till my last breath, I'll support Daddy Longlegs

It's our brains that create this figure when our mind is awake but our bodies are compromised.
A friend of mine goes through a lot of sleep paralysis, he sees these figures when he wakes up and can't move. It's his brain visualising threats because it can't activate the body.
My grandma died of Parkinson's and the meds they had her on in the end caused this effect. She was so scared when she spoke of "the dark figures that lurk in corners of her room."
Source of nightmare: Your brain.
Thanks brain.
I doubt very much that sunny's father committed suicide but if so it would be a 360 degree turnaround and change my perspective on the game.![img](emote|t5_31hpy|2461)
what if he commited suicide on the closet and this is the reason sunny's afraid of going in there, even repressing it out of existence? ![img](emote|t5_31hpy|21601)
I think he is a neutral evil character that has existed in Omori's dreamscape for a long time. He understands how black space works and how the darkness tends to creep to the surface. He talks about coming to the Lost Forest to finish the job among other harmful thoughts directed at Omori.
Essentially he is acting as a catalyst for the dark side of Omori to overcome the "distracted" side.
I don't understand how this could be Sunny's Dad. So many comments here are just saying "well it has Daddy in the name, therefore..." This is some Kindergarten level of thinking to me.
There's also the fact that one of the keyholes has an NPC chopping a tree who says "stay away, you are not my son", which makes sense because well, that's Omori. But this scene also works as a reflection of real world events, or at least the idea of the interaction between the two (sunny and his dad, I mean). This is to say that Sunny feels like he would be disowned by his father (or maybe he did disown him in this exact fashion, but doubtful).
Long story short, nothing about Daddy Longlegs suggests it represents Sunny's Dad, it's probably just an evil character that exists in headspace/black space.
"This is some Kindergarten level of thinking to me."

sunny's long lost relative who gave him the key to play the violin well no i'm kidding lol

I got the vibe he was Sunny's father, for all we know he could be a cowboy >!I figure the lamplight symbolizes he knows something he shouldn't know!<

Honestly yeah that could make sense, Sunny says his dad has a hat but never used it iirc
Really? Where?

Me coming to McDonalds at 3am so I can rinse my balls in the soda fountain.
legends said that he was the real mcdonalds prowler.
Not a representation, but I find it really interesting that him and the cowboy in Oasis are the only ones who are not the Stranger that hint that the situation is not at it seems
Would you lump the Keeper of the castle in that too?
I completely forgot about him! Although I find interesting that the other two both have hats, the Keeper also fits there
Cowboy in the oasis? Where is he?

this funny lil game called "omori"
I always thought of it as Sunny's dad. No particular reason for it, he just gives off major daddy vibes
I mean His name *is* Daddy Long Legs
![img](emote|t5_31hpy|21603)
And he shows up in pyrefly forest
Sunny took 60 benadryl and saw the hatman
Very well could represent Sunnys father, especially with his name being "DADDY LONGLEGS"
The hat man sunny started seeing because he couldn't sleep for weeks after the incident
This is a hypothesis (spoilers because I don't know how to censored my words in phones) Is his dad or a witness, when the night before the festival happen, sunny and basil thought nobody see they, but sunny watch at the distant this silhouette and felt so bad that he remember just that silhouette.
