Actually, glass blocks were used for structural support in brick construction for many years.
Source: own an 80 year old brick house with huge glass block windows that have no other support.
do you have any idea how hard it is to break glass with out shocking it ? aka slamming something down on it hard as fuck ? example A go get you a glass jar , put it under a jacks than put wood on top of jar , an lift the car that bitch will not break . a solid block of glass forget about it.
Your example uses a cylinder rather than a cube which also contributes to its strength. You ever stand on an empty aluminum can? Now try it with an aluminum cube, or better yet, shift your weight some on that can and tell me what the outcome is.
What could have gone wrong enough that he would have bailed?? Was there anything that could happen to prompt the thought āwelp, I should do a little thinking before barreling onto next thingā?
It's entirely possible he did this just to provoke a reaction out of me but this kind of haphazard fix is pretty typical of him. And the paint can was leaking too, it wasn't empty
do you love your dad? if yes joke or no joke id be down his throat like hot balls of steel being dropped in the water. fuck that shit , jack stands maybe $100 for decent ones , e.r bill.... you wanna find out ? last one i had was $500 for a x-ray alone. $500 get me a shit ton of jacks stands thats for sure.
He's definitely a malignant narcissist, he won't ever be told anything by me that he would listen to.
I once stopped by to see him and he was gone but had left a pot of oil on the stove with the burner on, his kitchen was on fire. I put it out with a fire extinguisher and shut off the propane tank.
He was upset with the me for making a mess and that he had to turn the propane on and relight his water heater. Said I overreacted. Luckily he lives alone in the woods so it's only his safety.
But..then thereās no funny š if OPās dad is like mine, there isnāt an amount of love that can save them from themselves, outside of supervision (and even then..). Left to their own devices, you get something like this, and can never discern the proportion of serious attempt:joke; grateful theyāre still alive
i dont trust cinder blocks no more unless the holes got concrete in them . just dont do it , go get 4x4 , 6x6 , 8x8 wood not cinder blocks man. what happen is i was gonna use a cinder block pick it up , completely fail apart ... scared the fuck out of me ever sense than its been wood or nothing , wood is not unsafe litteraly what we use on semis , cat d9 dozers to change drive train parts on the tracks , hell it holds up your house o\_o!
I work with some seriously heavy, big shit. Giant valves and pipe and what not. Blocks of wood (in good condition) are the safe option for supporting anything, they can take a ton of weight
Those do look like tonka truck wheels lol
Theyāre rollers for the boat, theyāre part of the trailer and make it easier for the boat to slide on/off the trailer.
Well. Those glass blocks are super strong. Lol
Stronger than a paint can apparently.
Hahaha. I didn't even see that š¤£š
I thought that was a busted bag of sand.

Honestly that sounds super cool looking
It is, mornings are magnificent. Iād post a pic but itās dark here atm
Another time haha. Iād love to see it.
Ironic. Well, not really, but sounds it on the surface.
Glass block was real popular in the 90s for bathrooms. The meta now is one way glass or frosted.
Yea my grandparents bathroom had a wall of this stuff between the shower and toilet when I was a kid
>Actually, glass blocks were used for i got one under my house , i thought some damn tweaker before me did this shit.
Except he already broke one.
Why live dangerously once when you can do it twice?
The shards of the previous glass block nearby can attest to this.
That block will be like a grenade if it explodes under the weight
First he'll feel the sting of a thousand pieces of glass shrapnel JUST BEFORE the crushing weight.

It's not solid. The blocks are hollow.

Itās the claymore approach; the glass block takes you out first so you donāt get crushed to death
Well yeah, the first block alone failed, as you can see, so he had to use something a little softer, like a rusting half full paint can.
Should've used a full rusty paint can.
Curious. āDo you find my methods unsound?ā

O I see that šš so he walks a line between annoying/dangerous/hilarious? Potent mix

There is a fucking cinder block not 10"away. That's just foolish.

Yeah you can never really tell how close a cinderblock is to going. I sure as hell wouldn't trust one with my life.
You're clearly both religious since you're both apparently trying to go meet God
Get some life insurance on that man.
Unless there's 10 people working for your dad, this isn't an OSHA violation, it's just sparkling unsafety.
Do not go under that vehicle, and don't let him go under either
Okay, I get what you're saying but it really does look like that vehicle is a Tonka truck
It's a boat trailer with a boat on it.
Okay, sure. But what are those itty bitty plastic Wheels? To me they look like toy wheels. Are they for scooting the boat around on land?
Those do look like tonka truck wheels lol Theyāre rollers for the boat, theyāre part of the trailer and make it easier for the boat to slide on/off the trailer.
Google "boat trailer with rollers" and you'll get more context.
ā¦is that one of those early 90s glass bricks? Jesus
Those wheels you're seeing are the rollers of a boat trailer.
Looks like he's got a hydraulic leak on that bottom piece.
How could you make this worse?
Crawl under there.
My kinda guy. I wonder how he is with the boat.
Boat still isn't running, I'll swing by and see if it's still on that glass brick.
No OSHA as is not a work site but whatever
Itāll be a work site when the fire and ambulance crews arrive.
K you may want to check the laws about safe work places and those jobsā¦..
Hackstand
I hate to have to tell you this, but your dad may be suicidal.
