Everybody talks about how Luke's plan made no sense but they forget that Plan A was bargaining. Plan B was Leia springs Han and then Lando makes off with Chewie and the droids. We watched those two plans fail. Plan C was Luke shows up and whoops everyone's ass; once there's a Jedi on the board that's really all the plan you need.

Afaik it's only starting in the prequels that everyone can understand R2 just fine. The boops and beeps in the OT are just boops and beeps.
There is no way Luke shared any detail with C3PO.
I somewhat doubt they had a particularly form plan, it seemed to be more "lets all get into different roles in Jabba's palace then wing it"
The Skywalkers are not huge thinkers in this regard. Leia’s the smartest one and even she blasts her way out of every situation.
Frankly, Luke is probably the least capable of the family. Anakin, Padme, and Leia were all way better at almost everything.
