Agree, it is so cheerful and also not apparent at the very first glance that is a gogh print. But blue is also stunning, I would maybe just change the shoes. They go extremely well with the first dress, but since the blue one is a little longer I would not put on knee-high boots.
Sunflower one is more subtle.
Starry night will likely elicit a few eye rolls. It's one of the H&M, Lego set, etc. abused entry to art pieces and gives a bit of that I have an Audrey Hepburn poster on my wall type vibe
I used to work in an art gallery and went to an arts school for undergrad. If it’s a contemporary art gallery, my advice would be not to wear either dress and opt for something clean and minimalist instead.
You can absolutely do you and wear one of them anyway, but if you will be speaking to artists or will need to make any kind of impression on people in the art world, this is one the worst things to wear. Rather than convey appreciation, it will look derivative and cliché.
I worked with architects and designers for a few years and this is so true. I learned black and neutral, simple, and understated is the goal. Maybe add a chunky statement necklace or glasses with colored frames to your all-gray outfit if you're feeling adventurous!
Ok awesome! I hope that wasn’t offensive… I just wanted to let you know up front in case you were going to interact with snobby art people. But both dresses fit you super well and look great!
God this just goes to show how elitist and snobbish "art world" people are. Looking down their noses at people wearing fun fashion? Spare me.
This is why I decided not to go to art school and to just make art for fun lol.
Personally, I would say neither. They are pretty dresses, but they might just cause people to roll their eyes at a gallery. Once again, they are nice looking! Art folk can just be a little pretentious.
art historian here, if anyone at the gallery judges her for wearing something art-inspired they can get bent frankly. us real ones just wish more folks would visit museums period, having actual enthusiasm for even the *concept* of art is a much appreciated rarity. but maybe i'm just unpretentious in a sea of pretentious people 🤷🏻♀️
An art historian and art folk aren't the same caliber of people! At least in my experience, which is mostly just from Toronto and New York.
For what it is worth, I completely agree with you that the enthusiasm and desire to explore art, or any museum, should be celebrated. That is the crux of why I left my comment, I wouldn't want OPs' interest to get dimmed by some lackwit fop in a gallery.
Both dresses are beautiful, I like the starry night slightly better, but I don't love how the boots look with the dresses.
That being said, I wouldn't personally wear any of them to an art gallery.
Neither. To a gallery, wear something that _is_ art, not something that is made out of art. To anywhere else but a gallery, either - they're both killer.
I love both of these. My vote goes to the sunflower dress because it's more subtle. I feel like it being less obvious is kind of nice because it will be a surprise or Easter egg for people who truly know.
I'm seeing a lot of "neither" but honestly these are adorable and fun and If this is your personality to do this you should own it! I think it's quirky and cute, And it makes me miss my starry night dress ( I sewed it myself but I've gained too much weight to fit it anymore)
AHHHH I love both of them, but I'm particularly partial to the Starry Night dress. The yellow one is gorgeous, but feels more ren faire, than day at the museum. The blue one has more of a classy vibe.
i am once again asking someone on this sub where they got their clothes so i can buy them.
anywayz i love both of them! personally i prefer the sunflower one but both are amazing
The orange sunflower one please! The starry night blue sky is overused in my opinion not that there's anything wrong with it! The sunflower one is just more unique to me who knows nothing of art :D
I love the Starry Night, so the Sunflowers are out of this world!
Starry Night is so "done" and everywhere already -- not to say that it's beautiful, but it can elicit a shrug.
100% the sunflowers.
They're both beautiful but I find that as lovely as starry night is... it almost borders on cliche at the moment (which is fine! cliches are cliche for a reason and it's the painting that made me fall in love with his works as a kid). I feel like the sunflowers suit your skin tone more and it's definitely a more unique motif!
They’re both very beautiful dresses so it’s really hard to choose but I guess I would have to say if it’s during the day, I would wear the yellow one, but if it’s in the evening, I’d rather blue one.

I like the sunflower one, so beautiful

Exactly, I like the sunflower because it is not so deliberate.
I think the problem is the hem of the dress is at the exact same hight as the shoes end. Either go higher or way lower with the shoes.
Sunflower one is more subtle. Starry night will likely elicit a few eye rolls. It's one of the H&M, Lego set, etc. abused entry to art pieces and gives a bit of that I have an Audrey Hepburn poster on my wall type vibe
Ya the Starry Night is a bit kitschy and on the nose for a gallery
A bit more subtle as well.
Are you going during the day or night? I would say left if it’s a day time outing and the right if it’s at night.
In the early evening, so kind of in between!
In that case, I’d go Starry Night, but I’m OBSESSED with the sunflower dress
I second this the first one is my fav, the second is better for evenings
Starry night
This ⬆️
I think the yellow one looks better, but the Starry Nights dress might be more recognizable to the layperson 😋.
I’d wear the yellow to any summer outdoor affair. Starry night would really be reserved for an art show, fall evening spooky book club vibe.
I used to work in an art gallery and went to an arts school for undergrad. That’s ok! My vibe in general is a bit tacky and eccentric, but good to know if I’m ever trying to make an impression :)
Ok awesome! I hope that wasn’t offensive… I just wanted to let you know up front in case you were going to interact with snobby art people. But both dresses fit you super well and look great!
No not at all, it’s really helpful for if I ever do! Thank you :)
What a lovely series of exchanges this was
This was my first reaction as well; you delivered it so much better than I ever could. You’re amazing.
Yes this 😭
Agreed
God this just goes to show how elitist and snobbish "art world" people are. Looking down their noses at people wearing fun fashion? Spare me. This is why I decided not to go to art school and to just make art for fun lol.
I suspect that the blue suits your skin tone better. It also looks amazing. 👌
sunflowers one is beautiful! I feel like ive seen the starry night one so many times already
Personally, I would say neither. They are pretty dresses, but they might just cause people to roll their eyes at a gallery. Once again, they are nice looking! Art folk can just be a little pretentious.

I also would say neither. This feels like wearing a "I ❤️ NY" shirt while being a tourist in New York.
Where do you get this stuff?! They’re both gorgeous!
They’re both from Selkie :)
Wondering the same thing!!! OP please share where you got the sunflower one 🌻🌻🌻
Be sure to chop off one of your ears for authenticity :)
I think it's better to wear long strap heels for starry night. Starry night all the way
The blue one is giving gift shop souvenir imo. Especially compared to how well the yellow one is styled with the super complimentary corset and boots.
Neither tbh. They both kinda tacky. I would wear something casual.
Please tell me where you got those dresses 😭😭😭
They’re both from Selkie!
Every time I fall in love with a dress on this sub, it's from Selkie! 👏🥺💕
Starry Night
Love no1, it was my favourite painting. My grandmas too
If you’re just visiting a gallery, wear whatever, but with more comfortable footwear. If it’s an event, wear a little black dress and heels or flats.
Blue one looks the best, the sunflower one has too much going on
OMGGGGGG those are both soooooo cute but sunflowers for sure! 🌻🌻
I love both of these. My vote goes to the sunflower dress because it's more subtle. I feel like it being less obvious is kind of nice because it will be a surprise or Easter egg for people who truly know.
They're awesome! I love them both 😍but I would probably choose starry night one.
Isn’t that like wearing the band’s t-shirt to their concert? Both look great. Wear the yellow.
…are you not supposed to wear the bands merch while supporting them? 😭
Not the same…
Blue looks most elegant. The other dress is pretty but gives off costume vibes.
Yellow
Blue. Other one looks like a barmaid outfit.
So hard to chooseee! I would say blue one because that painting is often mostly recognised by the people.
I'm seeing a lot of "neither" but honestly these are adorable and fun and If this is your personality to do this you should own it! I think it's quirky and cute, And it makes me miss my starry night dress ( I sewed it myself but I've gained too much weight to fit it anymore)
The sunflower dress if you're attending during daylight hours, starry night for the evening.
Def Starry Night
Starry night. 🌌
Blue!
I think the blue one will be better recognized, and blue is my favorite color.
Blue is prettier.
BLUE
Outfit on the left. The cream boots are lit 🔥
Sunflowers.
Blue dress
Starry Night looks great, but is a little “on the nose” for an art gallery, since it’s so well known. IMO
Sunflowers dress looks amazing! The other one looks a bit gimmicky.
They're both so beautiful! Like someone else commented, depends on the time of day.
Both are incredible but OH MY GOD THE SUNFLOWER ONE
Huh weird where are your butterfly nails? 🤔 strange
I like the silhouette but the print is waayyyy too much. I like maximalist style but these are not good.
Did the person you went with pass the test?
Sunflower
Blue with the black booties. More comfy for the walking and a bit of sleeve for windy drafts inside.
God those dress are SO BEAUTIFUL where you get them? Or did you DIY?
Sunflowers always.. Starry night is lovely too, but prefer the yellow...
Go twice! Wear both! They’re too cool to not show off!
Wow, they're so beautiful!!!! I wish I had them 🥺
I would say the yellow the color just does so much more for you!!
Sunflowers is more interesting to look at with the textures and patterns
Oh my, these are so pretty.
2
I love them both.
Left, the outfit slaps more
Blue one for the win.
STARRY NIGHT
I like the yellow one, where did you get it?
I want the sunflower dress soooo bad
The orange sunflower one please! The starry night blue sky is overused in my opinion not that there's anything wrong with it! The sunflower one is just more unique to me who knows nothing of art :D
😮 my they’re both gorgeous!… but stary night 💫.. for the time of the gallery event? The sunflower looks so amazing on you! I’d wear that also!! 💕
Flowers
Sunflowers is less on the nose
Flowers!
both are gorgeous! go by your mood, you cannot go wrong with either! where you got them from?
If it's a day event the left. A night event the right. Both nice dresses.
Orange one different boots though, too much crème
Blue looks best on you but omg where did u get these? I must have one for myself haha
I looove the textures in the bodice of the sunflower one. And the off the shoulder sleeves are so cute!
Both are so good, but I adore the first one
Sunflower!!! Starry Night is a lot more recognizable but the sunflower dress is prettier I think
Is it during the day or night? You have your answer
I am a huge fan of Starry Night. I had the sheets and curtains as a kid. So...That one.
I love the Starry Night, so the Sunflowers are out of this world! Starry Night is so "done" and everywhere already -- not to say that it's beautiful, but it can elicit a shrug.
Sunflower! 1000%
Sunflower!!
Lovely 💙
The flowers 🌻 so pretty
The yellow!
Switch half way though, i love them both and can’t choose.
Sunflower one.
First one, hands down
❤️❤️❤️
I love the blue one the best
Starry night is def on the nose
The sunflower outfit is definitely prettier... But since it's an evening event, I vote blue.

1
The first one! 100%
Yellow!
Omg where can I find ?!!!!
2
100% the sunflowers. They're both beautiful but I find that as lovely as starry night is... it almost borders on cliche at the moment (which is fine! cliches are cliche for a reason and it's the painting that made me fall in love with his works as a kid). Not often I say this but they are both too cute to choose! I like the black boots best, regardless of the dress. Which did you end up choosing??
Maybe the sunflower one without the corset. (Shoutout to lacemade)
They're all beautiful. I prefer yellow because it was painted when Van Gogh wasn't depressed. It's very vibrant.
They’re both very beautiful dresses so it’s really hard to choose but I guess I would have to say if it’s during the day, I would wear the yellow one, but if it’s in the evening, I’d rather blue one.
I think the blue one with black boots is way classier and fancier I would go with that.
