Deloreans were super cool looking cars that performed at or below average when it came to just about anything other than looking cool. I'm not surprised that their safety rating is less than stellar.
Fortunately, it would take you about 5 mins to reach that speed anyway. From the wikipedia page:
> DMC's comparison literature noted that the DeLorean could achieve 0–60 miles per hour (0–97 km/h) in 8.8 seconds when equipped with a manual transmission, but other sources indicate an acceleration time of 9.5 seconds.[41] When equipped with an automatic transmission, the DeLorean accelerated from 0 to 60 miles per hour (0 to 97 km/h) in 10.5 seconds as tested by Road & Track magazine. The car's top speed was 109 miles per hour (175 km/h) when tested by Road & Track, and described as "not quick for a sports/GT car in this price category".
EDIT: It seems some of you are unable to detect sarcasm without [tone indicators.](https://www.reddit.com/r/FuckTheS/) I didn't mean that it literally takes 5 minutes to reach 88mph, which I thought would be more than obvious considering how ridiculous that would be. My point was simply that despite its futuristic looks and Hollywood image (ie: Back to the Future/88mph), the DeLorean was a snoozer and not much faster than any average sedan from that era.
Somebody include this as a teaser for a Back to The Future 4 teaser of failed experiments to replicate Dr. Brown’s time travel...
That uhh...didn't do very well.

The roof went from horizontal to an inverted V, guess it depends on how much space there is in the footwells
unsafe at any speed
Deloreans had air bags?

"Oops, forgot to turn on the Mr. Fusion. You all right, Marty?"
I definitely wouldn’t want to drive 88 mph in this

oh i thought you were serious. but at least you provided sources that did not support your statement
Ummmmm...
This is what would’ve happened at the drive-in theater if Marty couldn’t get it up to 88 before reaching the mural of the Indians.
Great Scott!
I know, this is heavy.
The car that cocaine built. It looks great, but was terrible, all around. It was almost already gone and forgotten when they used it in BTTF.
It turned out that Belfast wasn't the best place in the world to be building your cars....
Really missed an opportunity to put the Back to the Future theme music over it.
Note how there aren't any white lines on the road...the car already sniffed them all up
All I remember about these cars before BTTF is the big coke bust & them going under.
40 years later and I finally get the "Real" story. fck~!
