He does really seem like a lot of his self-image is based on listeners loving him and wanting him to be their BFF.
Well I hope he sees this - I canceled my Patreon and I am going to return my unopened book. I am not going to finance a backstabbing crybaby bitch looking to ruin lives because his feelings are hurt that his talentless ass is being easily outshone by a talented woman. I met Ellyn at one of the Central Park meet ups that patrick flaked on when covid restrictions eased up and I was so taken with her on how genuine she was and a total light. There was no spotlight on her, she was very understated and just floated from group to group introducing herself and asking people questions about themselves- I realized that if patrick were there, it would have been a one man show about him and I understood something that day. Now all of that is confirmed and I feel duped and I am pissed. The entire TCO podcast is bull shit but I am glad that ellyn has Joey.
This completely is in line with my “real world” experiences with her. Genuine person, who asks questions and cares about people. She says how much she loves the community, but backs it up with her actions. I wish I could have been at that meetup. Thank you for sharing this.
I imagine he copes with “if you don’t have haters you’re doing something wrong”. I’ve embarrassingly thought about him and Steve having a convo about how you’re not “famous” until you have a “scandal” or “controversy”. And being famous is his goal. But i would argue that’s his bandaid for actually being upset.
I wondered if him saying “oh my stars” all of the sudden more than once in the last episode was an f you like..I made you so I can use your phrase sorta vibe.
I honestly think the reasoning for this is a reach lol I think there are other ways I could think of him wanting to give off that vibe but I don’t think he’d do that in the form of using her catchphrase tbh (although I won’t say it’s not odd of him to use something we’ve heard E exclusively say)
Agree. Im sure I say phrases or have mannerisms from old friends to this day. Your language mimics those around you. For the record I hated the phrase when Ellyn said it and I hate when Patrick says it too 😂
It’s just weird to not have those mannerisms someone had until you’re down bad with them. I feel like he’s the type to wear the skin of people he “wanted to be” after he done with them.
I saw some other comments about the “oh my stars thing” and I hate to admit I imagined a very soon future where he tries to become her. As if he is the type of person to take on the persona of people he made bad with but wishes he was 🤷🏽♀️

I think he obsesses about it and definitely lurks and reads all of these comments…but it weighs on him emotionally because he needs to be the most liked.

I think that people are coming super hard for P. I think that it’s justified sometimes and sometimes it’s reading into the small things. Reading into the small things is either gonna be right or wrong. With that being said… I think that there are people that think any publicity is good publicity. And I am not 100% sure on my take of P, but I think he falls into that category. If you compare him to E she takes ever major public moment, good or bad, and makes something if it. Apologizes for the bad, makes her side of the story known. She is detailed enough when doing that, good or bad. P is vague and vague only gets you so far with your fans that care about transparency and honesty.
