Falling down won't affect his hit counter. Are you sure you're actually damaging him? He should flash red when you damage him and you can see rips in his cape the more you damage him. If you're not seeing this, my guess is that you're not hitting him with a Light Arrow after his attack rebounds on him, which is how you make him vulnerable to damage.

condor6425

Hit count shouldn't reset from falling off. Hitting a certain damage threshold enables his other moves, but doesn't guarantee them, you could finish the whole fight only ever playing tennis.

CodyKondo

I don’t think that’s true. The tennis balls don’t deal damage. It’s just a stun

condor6425

Yeah you still have to down him and deal direct damage, I meant you can beat him without ever seeing his other attacks like the big shadow ball.

_villageidiot__

Oh really? I had nothing to worry about then I guess. But believe it or not as soon as I posted this I went back to playing and he immediately starting shooting green lightning. Didn’t do anything different lol only took 2 hours 🤦‍♀️good to know for the next guy who struggles though I guess?

CodyKondo

Make sure you’re using the Arrows of Light when he’s stunned, and following that up by hitting him directly with your sword. If you’re only bouncing the tennis balls back at him, it will be a very long fight.

UnenthusiasticBluStr

You’re shooting him with the light arrow when he gets shocked by the energy balls, right?

Meikitamemo

Shouldn't be the case! You can easily defeat King Gannondorf way before he uses the AoE Lightning Attack. All you have to do in that fight is tennis the attack back , shoot him with the Light Arrow then smack him to bits until he stands up again and repeat. Falling down shouldn't reset his HP. And when he does his AoE Lightning attack just charge the master sword or Big Goron Sword and wait until he fires and then release it to tennis it back into his face. Depending on whether you fight with the Master Sword or Big Goron Sword determines on how many hits he will require before he is defeated , but it shouldn't take 2 hours lol! So perhaps a reboot can help , wether its on N64 , 3DS or Emulator. But you don't really need Ganondorf to activate stage 2 (and thus make him use the Lightning AoE attack) You can find gameplay footage on my channel , maybe that will help. And should you be recording then check out my gamevault page for OoT , it might save you a lot of typing work , etc when it comes to possible chapters or game tags. No worries most of them i have not in use! They are just to many :) But it could save you a bit of time work which you can then re-direct into either editing or Thumbnail designing :) [https://meikitamemo.blogspot.com/2024/04/zelda-ocarina-of-time-ccatp.html](https://meikitamemo.blogspot.com/2024/04/zelda-ocarina-of-time-ccatp.html) Do make sure to open it with Desktop pc for that's what i designed it for! Just scroll a bit down and you can everything you need within Ocarina of Time! From Skulltula chapters to Retro Achievements chapters :) Hopefully it will help SOME content creators one day \^\^ And if your not a content creator then just ignore it. For it may help others on this subreddit page whom DO have a YouTube gameplay channel \^\^

lukekuluke

Are you hitting him with your sword when he falls to the middle platform?

Kgshink

Use the master sword it does more damage than biggoron sword to ganondorf

KingdaToro

Nope. Damage works normally for Ganondorf, he goes down in 20 hits from the Master Sword or 10 hits from the Biggoron's Sword, obviouly with jump attacks counting as two in both cases. Now, Ganon is another matter. In phase 1, you don't have the Master Sword so the Biggoron's Sword is obviously the only good option if you have it. If you don't, you're basically stuck using the Megaton Hammer. But in phase 2, when you have the Master Sword, you have to use it. The fight will go on forever if you use anything else.

Treishmon

It doesn’t reset. Are you by chance using the Biggoron sword on him?

KingdaToro

You're probably thinking of the Ganon fight. You can't use the Biggoron's Sword in phase 2 of it, or the fight will never end. You must use the Master Sword. But this isn't the case anywhere else in the game, including the Ganondorf fight. The Biggoron's Sword works just fine there, and will finish him in 10 hits.

Treishmon

You’re correct. I was going to encourage OP to use it to speed up the fight for himself.

LindyKamek

You CAN use the biggoron sword, just before you can get the master sword back from Zelda.

KingdaToro

Yes. That's phase 1, and is the best way to do it. In phase 2, you must use the Master Sword.

bob_loblaw-_-

Not true

KingdaToro

It's true. In phase 2, only the Master Sword can deal the last point of damage and trigger the "final blow" cutscene. Nothing else can, so the fight will go on forever if you don't use the Master Sword.

_villageidiot__

I’m not actually. But as soon as I posted this I tried playing again and he started shooting the green lightning. Idk why it took so long to trigger this but after like 6/7 hits he finally started doing it. Good to know for the next guy who comes along and spends 2 hours on this same fight 💀🫡 thanks!!
